RP:Training Mysha

From HollowWiki

Summary: Aaken has some difficulty getting his new wyvern to obey his commands, but some timely help from Pilar gets the naga-wyvern pair on track.

Meadow, Xalious Village

High noon on the meadow the sun was shining in cloudless sky, the open fields and there soft grass, with the occasional flow outcropping here and there, but strangely the trees to west seeming seem to barren with what appears to be tooth marks on them. Perhaps they came from the massive furred wyvern, about 150' long with its massive 300' wingspan. and more importantly from the the large anthropomorphic naga of dark scales and soft red eyes, who seemed to be shaking his head, and putting two fingers to the top of his snout closest to his eyes. "No No, Mysha, don't roll over, try to expand your wings, we need to try to get up in the air at least once today." He shook his head he had been here since morning, and training Mysha had been considerably harder than he had anticipated.

Pilar was in Xalious to clear her head and bask in a familiar, neutral setting. As she neared the namesake tree, however, she spotted the large wyvern in the distance and hurried over to investigate. She watched the naga sigh and chastise the beast, and slowly made her way over. "Ex-excuse me? I, I'm sorry to intrude, but... am I right in thinking that you're trying to get your wyvern to fly?"

Aaken glanced at the woman who had approached he tried to put on a smile, it was hard because he was throughly exausted, at getting no where. "Yeah, something like that." Aaken was considerably larger than when she might have first seen him, he remember her, just not her name, from when he had talked with Reginae the first time. He was almost 15' tall and 18'long, his body no longer 2' thick but three. He moved like an captipilar and less like a snake, maybe this was because of his increased size, and the slithering had been slowed by it. "So, I am Aaken, this is Mysha, my wyvern that I hope to enter the upcoming contest, trouble is, training her I have nadda clue."

Pilar remembered him, as well. "I'm Pilar. The contest you're talking about... is that the Eyrie air show? I'm actually coordinating it. I remember getting your registration." She looked to Mysha. "She's beautiful. I'd love to help you train her. But... with such little time, I don't know if she'll be ready."

Aaken sighed and nodded, his head looking back at Mysha who was on 45th tree now, eating allow the leaves on it as if it were giant broccoli. "I know I am fast learner, I don't if can say the same for Mysha, I was told when I bought her she was a natural at flight, but, any simple training you can offer would be much appreciated, even if I don't win, I should still be there to participate." He turned back to pilar, and removed his scarf wrapping it around his hands and then unwrapping like something to fiddle with. His voice had changed, wasn't nearly as high, and the squeak had been replaced with a mild stammer. His voice was tenor not Sophrano like it once had been. "Where should I start?"

Pilar had only met him the once, so any differences were unnoticed by her. She looked to the wyvern and hummed. "At her age, she should have had basic obedience training already, but she looks very undisciplined. To start, you need to offer rewards for behavior you like. But don't punish for behavior you dislike. A firm 'no' should suffice."

Aaken nodded, "Do you mind If I try now, while you watch?" he asked before giving mysha a command. "Stand up." He said. Mysha kinda half stood, but kept eating the tree. "Please Mysha, all the way." He asked. but then he was surprised by what happened next. Mysha opened her mouth and spoke. "Why." Melodious it was, not childish, like born poet. He was very surprised his jaw opened. and he had turn to Pilar. "Uh, is it normal for the wyvern to talk?" He was clearly shocked, and surprised.

Pilar wasn't completely shocked. Wyverns were related to dragons, after all. They were certainly smart enough to understand speech, but they rarely spoke themselves. "It happens," Pilar said. She turned her attention back to Mysha. "Mysha, hello."

Aaken turned back to mysha as he listened. Mysha looked over at Pilar rising up to walk over to the woman, surprisingly for her size she didn't shake the earth when she walked, nor did her wings may a sound when flapped. Aaken had noticed this, but he still couldn't figure it out. "Yes, Pilar I believe?" Her voice kinda carried she moved her head down toward pilar, it was surprising, how much she looked in shape like a wyvern yet, her fur and eyes and snout formation made down to her paws, made her seem more like a wolf. Her grey fur, was short, and her eyes yellow. She casually turned to Aaken giving him a lick that nearly toppled him. "Oof Hey." Before she turned back to Pilar.

Pilar chuckled as Aaken was nearly knocked over. Aww, she liked him. "Yes, that's me. It's nice to meet you, Mysha." Pilar would approach slowly. "May I pet your snout? Your fur looks so soft."

Aaken picked himself up, as best he could as Mysha bent her head down to be petted, The fur was almost unheard ofly soft, Aaken had noticed this as well, but he the feeling of that kind of softness didn't seem natural, "Please, I enjoy being petted." Mysha would say. Aaken wondered to himself, what other hidden secrets was Mysha hiding from him.

Pilar gave Mysha many pets, indeed. As she did so, she said, "So, Mysha. Your... what would you call Aaken? Friend? Anyway, there is a flying competition he would very much like to enter, but he needs your help. There is a prize of gold for the best three performances. I'm sure he'd share if he won. Though if you don't like gold, he could probably buy you something nice."

Aaken listened to the conversation, he was little unsure how to respond, but he knew that from now on, he would not pet talk Mysha again,. Mysha smiled, "Oh yes, he has spoken of that competion, I think Aaken, is my friend right now, he might be lunch later, nad then after that, maybe my friend again, he makes a great noodle." Aaken was little embarrassed by that, but at least she didn't show any bad feelings to him. He was about to say something when Mysha added, "What is expected in these performances?"

Pilar chuckled. "Aw, don't eat him. Who would give you pets if you did that?" She cleared her throat and stepped back. She held her hands out in front of her and an image of several small flying creatures appeared. A wyvern, a couatl, a pegasus and a griffin. They flew in complicated maneuvers, loop-de-loops and barrel rolls and somersaults. "It's like dancing in the sky. You must put together a routine, using the most difficult, impressive moves you can do. There will be bards there, so you can set your routine to music. The more graceful, beautiful, and skillful your moves, the better."

Aaken watched with renewed interest as Pilar displayed the illusion. "So what exactly has not been done before?" He asked. Mysha looked at him, "Other than eating a noodle mid flight?"

Pilar dispelled the illusion. "Heh, this is my first air show, so... I couldn't tell you. I would recommend seeking out a more experienced member of the Eyrie to help choreograph your routine. Or just wing it... Pun not intended."

Aaken snickered, "Well it was a good one." He smiled, "Mysha, do you think maybe could go for one flight maybe drop Miss Pilar off wherever she needs to go?" He looked at Pilar, "Would you be alright with that?"

Pilar shrugged. "I have nowhere in particular I need to be... though I suppose a lift back to Frostmaw would be nice."

Aaken nodded, and mysha knelt her head down so that, pilar could walk up to her neck. and find someplace to sit, and then aaken would wrap his coils once around a spine, and pilar to ensure safety. "I think we need to get a harness." Mysha laughed, "Nah!" She leapt into the air without a sound other than the wind in aaken's face and flew towards frostmaw soundlessly, when they would arrive she would find a place to set them down.
