The Run In

Setting

Taikahn enters to find Zedreth sitting on the side of the road.

Significance

Zedreth and Taikahn, though mortal enemies, hold a conversation about ignorance. Some great quote from Zedreth (Yes they are original).

Text

Zedreth strides out of the tavern and looks around. Then he proceedes to sit on the side of the road opposite of the tavern.

Suddenly, a door sort of congealed itself out of nowhere and nothing. It was a plain old, everyday sort of door, wooden and painted blue. It wasn't accompanied by any fancy sound effects or light shows, it was just absent one moment and there the next.

Zedreth looked up in supprise. He wasn't expecting a random door. He decided that he would wait a while to make sure nothing was going to happen, but slowly, his curiousity builds.

Taikahn was the one who opened the door (surprise surprise). Quiet, parentheses guy. I'm trying to tell a story here. Ahem. He looked around, before focusing on that one guy he knew as Vex. (Are you trying to be comedic? You're failing.) I said pipe down over there! Taikahn forced up a smile at the undead. "Hello, Vex. How are you today?"

Zedreth sighed and looked at the approaching figure. "Heh, I was expecting something less.." He thought for a second in suspense, "ugly."

Taikahn was quite taken aback, and worked visibly to control his anger. "Ever looked in a mirror?" he shot back, with a wink to let him know it wasn't meant seriously.

Zedreth let out a sharp exhalation of air. "Where do your learn your comedy, Gualon?"

Taikahn, quite simply, said, "No." He wasn't quite sure what had spawned the remark--maybe it was his author. Hey, how many times have I said to leave me out of this?! ...anyways, the preklek stepped all the way out of the doorway, and closed the door and locked it behind him.

Flar spreads his fuzzy wings and leaps into the air. Within moments he is airborne and flying off

Zedreth shook his head. He looked down once again to his twin daggers. Shhhiiiink, the blades grinded together as he attempted to sharpen them.

Taikahn tossed a fish-eye glance to Vex. "I hope we can put all our previous unpleasantness behind us and focus on the present."

Zedreth chuckles for a second. "Do you expect me to beleive that?" He paused for a moment. "Presently I do beleive that these daggers are itchin' for a fight." He looked up and stared Taikahn blank in the eye.

Taikahn blinked. "Technically, inanimate objects don't have a nervous system, and thus ca--"

Zedreth let out a yap. "Hah!" He looked at him once more and slowly winded his left hand, blade included, behind the right side of his body.

Taikahn watched the blade move, and rapped sharply on the door. It melted away, leaving the street clear once again. The preklek crossed his arms, and secretly expanded a small handle on the side of his right gauntlet. One pull would provide a quick weapon, but for now he simply waited. "Are you sure you want to do that? What's the point here?"

Zedreth thought for a moment. "You are keen, I applaud you for that. But you are not well at concealment. Your arms are crossed, but knowing you you wouldn't normally do such a thing. Also, your movments are slight but not hidden. Being a master of that art myself helps when it comes to making others fail in that area. I wouldn't recomend charging at any cost from where you are now." He smiled a bit, but then it faded.

Taikahn raised an eye-ridge. "Indeed? Very well. But you have forgotten one thing."

Zedreth nodded for a second. "Quite possibly. I fear i don't have a choice when it comes to ignorance. They do say ignorance is bliss, but i inturn say bliss is ignorant. I must reacted accordingly, for it seems i cannot prepare myself.

Taikahn blinked. "Ignorance is, at least to me, annoying. I like knowing things. Bliss, on the other hand, is something I find separate from ignorance entirely."

Zedreth nodded once more. "You may find ignorance annoying, but i find ignorance as a tool. 'What they don't know won't hurt them' isn't sufficiant when i find what they don't know can be very lethal. Zedreth grins. Once more his hand slowly moves to his side, to what looks like a resting position.

Taikahn sighed, looking tired. "In that case, I had better strive to learn as much as I can, yes? I suppose you won't tell me everything, though, just like I won't tell you everything."

Flar flies high above as his shadow races across the ground.

Zedreth nodded. "Indeed. Glad the have this talk. I hope we can have more idea exchanges in the future. If you don't all ready annoy me enough to set me off, that is."

Taikahn blinked. "I'm the one annoying you? Most of the time it's you who goes on the offensive."

Zedreth thought for a second. "Offense is the best defense."

Taikahn looked, more than anything, confused. "That doesn't even fit--what did you mean by that?"

Zedreth responded, "If you say i am on the offense the most, and i say you do annoy me, i say the defense to your offense is offense."

Taikahn nodded, understanding now if not accepting. "I see."

Zedreth looked at the few who entered, as if that was more interesting that the conversation. He sort of stared for a second, and waited.

Taikahn was beginning to feel weary in a different way, that of having waited for something for a long time but getting nothing. He said, "You said you were 'itching for a fight'... I hope you've changed your mind?"

Zedreth chuckled. "You say that like you would trust me if i said i did."

Carash clopped into the scene, just soon enough to hear just some of the conversation. Curious about what was going on, he stayed away, but not to far away to not hear.

Sparrow watches Taikahn quietly, from the hidden refuge of a tree - his master no where in sight.

Taikahn laughed gently. "I suppose I did. You're correct, of course--there's not much I trust you to do or not do." He failed to notice the other prek watching him, as his attention was focused on Vex.

Sparrow bursts into a full run past all of them, seemingly off on some task.

Zedreth stood up and stood. (Zedreth visited the department of redundancy department) He slide his knifes into his holsters. He nodded to Taikahn, and looked as if he was ready to leave.

Marcellus gives a sidelong glance at the Preklek as he goes into the tavern. It is clear that he does not respect Prekleks very much. Perhaps he has had some bad experiences with them.

Carash, still watching, narrowed his eyes, as if thinking that he missed some giant battle. He remained silent.

Taikahn was visibly relieved. He relaxed, then realized that it may be a trap. He tilted his head. "I would ask you if you were leaving, but as we've already gone over, we don't trust each other."

Zedreth tilted his head aswell. "You seem to be still asking a question. Do you want the answer?"

Taikahn laughed. "Would I believe you if you gave me an answer?"

Zedreth responded, "Your arguement is in circles. If i say yes, you may not believe it, though it is not my choice. Or is it, am i telling the truth?" He smiled in some joking way.

Carash noticed the disbelief in the two, and a result of noticing is that he tilted his head to the side, as well as noticing that he tilted his head to the side.

Taikahn realized that Zedreth was correct yet again. "And again, you're correct." The narrator, in an attempt to keep things dramatic, refrained from bopping the preklek over the head with a toy hammer. He'd get it later, though.

Zedreth nodded and walked eastward.
