RP:The Magical Tap

From HollowWiki

Summary: Lanara is walking along the Rolling Plains and comes under attack from a mage that conjures raptors, and manages to 'silence' her magic. Panicked, she attempts to flee, and finds Scandal, in his dragon form. The two work together to defeat the velociraptor's and the mage, and they discover that Scandal can be used as a mana fountain, upon touch. Lana taps into his magic, and they defeat their assailants, as well as discover the reason behind Scandal's headaches.

Scandal shook himself, trying to spread his wings as wide as he could, and stretch. Having previously been his full maxiumum size of 5 miles long, 3 miles tall, and 2 miles wide, not including wingspan, Scandal had shrunk in size quite a bit, down to a size that while uncomfortable but still not scary beyond all reason. About 80' long and 50' tall, and 30' wide, Scandal's black scales made him uncomfortable in the heat. His underbelly which ran from the bottom of his jaw down his neck, belly and 1/3 up the length of his tail was unlike his black scales rather it was red and fleshy. He coughed once and a stream of acid hit a spot on the plains sizzliing and eating away a good portion of dirt making a hole about 20' wide and 15' deep, before the acid burst into flames and burned hotly until the dirt became as glass, and then the fire went out leaving a red hot glowing glass pit. Scandal's thoughts interupted into words as he couldn't speak the human tongue in this form, *"Must have been that salsa last night"* He chuckled before shaking his head.

Lanara is wandering along the grassy turf, wearing a yellow sundress and a smile on her pretty face. Her long chestnut locks flow freely in the breeze, and although she is breathtaking to gaze upon, one would notice that her white sneakers are caked with dirt and grass clippings. She had been walking for quite some time, likely clearing her head about something, and she hums a soft melody beneath her breath, merely admiring the landscape. However, all of a sudden, the picture of tranquility changes to something much darker, as a trio of warlocks materialize before the petite witch. “What the hell?!” Lana’s eyes widen, as she senses their dark magic, and she takes a hesitant step back, her chocolate hues locking onto the male in the center. The middle man wears a plum-colored robe and crooks his pointer finger at the brunette, muttering something to the two men on either side, in a language that she couldn’t understand. Suddenly, the wind picks up, and a large velociraptor breezes through the sky, a fireball forming in his talons, which is soon thrust down, and sent spiraling towards Lanara. The witch darts in the opposite direction, the elf being rather agile, and she ends up stumbling over a scaled tail, belonging to a massive dragon. As she falls ungracefully to the ground, she lifts her head and peers at Scandal, confusion in her gaze. What is going on?!

Scandal wasn't sure how to react, *"First peace, now this, whats the world coming too?"* His eyes dart to poor Lanara tripping over his tail, *"Maybe I should put a sign up."* And the Velicoraptor sent flying towards Lanara in what seemed slow motion, of course realizing that this was just how quick his reflexes were, he swiftly bit down on the velicoraptor and swallowed, *"Okay Lanara, what's going on?"*

Lanara widens her eyes as the dragon opens its mouth, swallows her would-be assailant, and then address her, directly. How did the dragon know her name? She had slayed one upon first arriving in Frostmaw, but this dragon was not a frost reptile, and it was capable of talking. The witch is dumbfounded for a minute, as she wipes her hands on her dress, and stands up. Clearly, she didn’t know this was Scandal, as he wasn’t in his somewhat human form. “How do you know who I am?” She inquires, though there is no time for chit chat, as the trio of mage’s approaches the duo, though two of them vanish from sight, and only the center one remains. Dark Magic. An illusionist, of some sort. Lana shrinks back from the man, knowing that she was in way over her head. Yes, the talking dragon seemed to know her and had rescued her from the velociraptor, but she wasn’t taking any chances. In a world such as Lithrydel… One never took the risk of assuming another was a friend, when they could very well be a foe. Extending her arms, she mutters an incantation in Sylvan, though as the spell is thrust forward, the man opposite her deflects, and she feels her energy drained, completely. Lana readies another spell, though she finds that she’s been silenced. “I-I can’t use my magic!”

Scandal was annoyed, he hate and loved magic at the same time, and right now a friends life was at stake, *"Oh really, the black scales and red underbelly aren't a dead giveaway?"* He said as he stepped forward only to feel like he was stepping on hot coals, *"What do you mean you can't use magic, draw from somwhere else, hell me if you have too." Scandal roared.

Lanara blinks. Red and black? Who did she know that was red and black? There’s a delay in her response, before recognition hits, and her big brown eyes are filled with knowing. Scandal! This was the man that she had shared an ale with only a few days ago, in Venturil’s tavern. She nods, yes she knew him, and she walks closer to the dragon, deciding within that moment to put her trust in him. As she runs to his side, she looks up at his gaze, unsure of what he means when he tells her to ‘use’ him to draw magic. The mage conjures up another flying dinosaur, and hurls a fireball at the little elf, which she narrowly dodges, and in turn, finds herself standing beside Scandal’s scaled leg. Both of her palms are planted firmly on the dragon, as she inhales, and feels her veins slowly opening, to allow his magical energy to fill her anew. A half-smile appears on her face, as she twists away, and outstretches her arms, meeting the next fireball with a wall of ice, causing it to obliterate in thin air. “Take that, punk!” She darts in the opposite direction and hides behind a tree, readying her next attack on the mage, while she leaves Scandal to deal with the velociraptor’s circling the sky.

Scandal felt the headache he had been feeling since he woke from hibernation seem to lessen just a slight amount, as Lanara pressed her body up against him. *'Finally I thought i'd never figure out the cause."* he said with relief, he turned his eyes to the flying beasts, "Oh gods, I am not going to enjoy this." As soon as Lanara was some distance away he lept up after the flying reptiles. The first one dive bombed towards his face, so he opened his mouth and swallowed it, the second did the same thing, *They aren't too bright* He thought, the third, fourth and fifth, well they apprently were a little smarter, cause they decided to use the apparent *Death* of there own to as a distraction, two were attacking his wings trying to ground him, while the fifth was making his way towards his underbelly. He remembered a time when he had been struck by another dragons claw, and how his black scales deflected it, but his fleshy underbelly took a deep cut. "Oh Snap!" He realized what they were planning, and twisted his body to send one on his left wings to into right one, knocking them both out of sky. "A little help here!" He thought to her, as he could move his claws quick enough to stop the the one flying reptile. If she needed help he'd do it, he just hoped she'd get the one on him.

Lanara steps out from behind that large tree, her long locks flowing in the breeze, fire in her eyes, and two glowing orbs in each of her open palms. The witch was no longer the happy go lucky elf that most would know, for she was filled with a rare form of fury, filled with the need to harm another. How –dare- this man conjure dinosaurs and aim to hurt herself, and her newfound friend, Scandal. He would know her wrath, and very soon. As the cloaked male aims to draw her magic away again, she unleashes her power, and the two orbs flutter from her grasp, on their own according. The spiraling toss sends them flying rapidly towards their assailant, picking up momentum from the added strength of the wind. Lana stands her ground, her dark gaze not once wavering from the male, until her orbs reach their intended target. The first orb is dodged, though not gracefully, and as the male shifts his weight, the remaining circular glow strikes him in the center of his chest, obliterating the male. The body evaporates, seemingly into thin air, as the ball consumes his life, and taking every molecule along with it. As this is happening, Scandal is dealing with the massacring of raptors above, and she looks up at the sky, narrowing her eyes on the particular that was currently taking hold of the dragon that had risked his scales for her, and provided a magical fountain from which to draw. For this, Lana draws her longbow, and blows back a strand of hair from her face, waiting for the right moment to release her fingertips from that string. As she does, the poison-tipped arrow soars upwards, aiming straight for the raptor.

Scandal saw the arrow, and a primal instinct cut into his mind, an instinct he had that left wondering. The arrow in his mind seemed to slow, as if it were coming inches not feet per second, he knew he could feel where the reptile was on him, and slight shutter he tried to hold still, and soon the arrow hit its mark and the beast felll. he landed as it did, having stopped flapping his wings. Gazing at the smoking remains of their attacker and then at Lanara, he couldn't help but notice as if something maybe were glowing behind her eyes, redish blackish, he coudln't figure it out. *"Thank you, and now you might wish to turn away, I must dispel the flying beasts."* He turned and forced the muscles in his throat propel two flying beasts out, both stunned and unnmoving and with them a few gems and gold coins. *Gods I hate keeping my promises sometimes."* He turned back to her. *"Your eyes they are glowing maybe you might disconnect now?"*

Lanara closes her eyes and magically grounds herself, so that when she opens her eyes again, they are no longer glowing, and have reverted to their original dark chocolate hue. She watches and waits for Scandal to land, and turns away as he vomits up the bodies of the flying dinosaurs. Lana was an animal lover, and although they were created and commanded by magic, they still were considered a living being. She hears the hacking up of the reptiles and when it ceases, she turns around the looks appreciatively at the male. “Thank you, Scandal. I, uh, wasn’t expecting to see you in your dragon form. But you really had my back, and I’m grateful.” She focuses on her breathing and dusts off her sundress, trying to calm down. Why was that powerful man seeking to harm? And how had Scandal unsilenced her magic and loaned her his own? There are so many questions, and she merely looks at the dragon, for answers.

Scandal eyed the vomited beings which were now moving and dragging themselves away. He turns back to Lanara, "Well, I have to switch at some point to this form, at some size margin otherwise, It gets very painful." He held his head with a wing, "Well the headaches gone, or at least its not as bad as before, happened when you were drawing something from me, I don't know what but, those magic spells were pretty immpressive." Scandal groaned and shrank his form, taking on that of his humanoid form, with the furs on as well. "These aren't an illusion, trust me, finding furs that magically appear after you change form are hard to come by." It was true Scandal could not use magic, and yet somehow he had lent it to her, and that was making another kind of headache to form. He conveyed his theory, by his thoughts to her.

Lanara tilts her head in the direction of the velociraptors that have seemingly died only moment ago, by being swallowed and placed in an acid bath on the interior of Scandal’s dragon belly. How they have managed to survive such a feat is beyond the witch’s comprehension, though the animal lover in her tugs at her heart strings, and she merely watches them out of the corner of her eye. Shifting her gaze back to Scandal, she opens her mouth to inquire about his headache, when he shifts into his humanoid form. She pauses, merely observing the transformation, while collecting her thoughts. He was a unique individual, she’d give him that. She’s also grateful that he’s clothed, in expensive magical furs, which takes away the awkwardness of the situation. Lana waits as he explains the hard-to-find materials, and she nods, in agreement. She had modeled for the legendary crustacean designer, Kreekitaka, for well over a year. She also managed his beachfront boutique when living in Cenril. She knew all about the fashion industry, importing and exporting, costs, etc. She eyes the furs appreciatively, before she engages in further conversation. By now, her breathing had returned to normal. “So… You aren’t able to use magic, I gather? Yet… You can loan it to those in need, upon touch? It’s pretty impressive… Tell me. How did you come to discover that you have this ability, Scandal?”

Scandal wondered what she was gazing at and then realized, that he'd have to explain that some time, for one they weren't, oh never mind. "Never have been, course that hasn't stopped my fascination with it, it is something I love and hate all at the same time." He said taking the time to observe that she was calming down, turning his head to watch the raptors move off completely. They hadn't been in his stomach, they had been with his hoard, thanks to some odd biology thing he was pretty sure most dragons didn't have, and it left him wondering the purpose to it, he'd have to pick up those gold nuggets and gems that came out with the raptors later. "I just actually discovered that now, and it must have something also to do with my headaches as when you drew some of that from me, my headache lessened. So yeah, I wasn't sure it was going to work, I mean, I expected that we dragons have magic regardless whether we can use it, but I never expected that others could use me like fountain." He chuckled at last part trying to imagine himself as a dragon with pink mana flowing out of his mouth, the idea was kinda ludicrous to picture.

Lanara isn’t sure what to make of all this, though she finds it funny that magic gives him a headache. Her magic didn’t give her a headache, but it did cause her flesh to tingle, sometimes. “Magic gives you a headache? Maybe because you aren’t expelling it… You should try using amethyst… Sleep with it beneath your pillow. It fends off nightmares and headaches.” Lana finger combs her long locks, which had become unruly from her tussle with the mage, her lips pursed as she’s in thought. “You should seek out my sister, Talyara. She knows all about controlling her magic. And anxiety. And things like that…. She’s more studied in that sort of thing, than I am. But thank you, Scandal, for saving the day. You are proving to be a good friend. I will think on your mana fountain and how you can put it to good use. I’m sure we’ll bump into each other again, soon! You take care…” And with that, she’s off.

Scandal watches her take off. Sighing and releasing his form the last time that day. See Scandal was limited on how many times he could change form in a span of 24 hours, he could only do it four times, and because being in dragon form was the only way he could feel naturally comfortable, he allowed himself to become his largest size, his normal size, the real size. Laying against the rolling hills, his body a several miles long and few miles wide, he wrapped his wings around himself. He wouldn't let many people seem him like this, because despite his size he looked like what dragon looks like as a child, but he was barely a child. In only a short week unbeknowst to him, his long overdue puberty was going to strike and cause a whole bunch of other problems. He sighed, "Its start."
