The Tragedy

Garner, a priest of Olric, stood at the edge of the cliff upon which his family's hut rested. The hut was not much to look at, as it was made simply out of mahogany hued wood and a thick straw roof, but it was not the hut but the inhabitants that made it special. The priest walked into the quaint dwelling and wrapped his arms around his family, embracing his wife, Leilani, first and then his two children, Eric and Nostalgia. Leilani was a human and exquisite to look upon with her clear tanned skin and her flowing crimson locks all accented by her forest green eyes which seemed to peer into the soul of all who looked into them. Eric and Nostalgia were both around the age of nine, and were growing to look much like their parents. Finally, the priest himself was a High Elf, though he had shunned the haugty ways of his brethren and was shunned by them when he took a human wife. He had handsome blond locks, cut short, with deep blue eyes and a contagiously gentle smile on his face. To look at them, one might say, was to look into the face of happiness.

A few hours into the evening, as the family was sitting for dinner, the dull sound of footsteps and the miserable clank of rusty armor could be heard just outside of the hut. Garner rose with a sigh, mumbling under his breath, and walked to the door. Just as he was opening it, the door bashed inward with a loud crash, as a small group of five Preklek's stormed into the hut. The gargantuan, lizardesque creatures stormed around the hut, paying no attention to the normal inhabitants thereof, and callected anything they deemed valuable. Garner could tell, both from the variation of the standard Preklek armor and from the uncharacteristic behavior of the crew, that this was merely a renegade band of miscreants. The priest grabbed a short sword from it's secret compartment and swung with all his might towards the neck of the first Preklek, slicing cleanly into the poor savage's arteries and dropping him on the spot with a grunt and a loud thud. A second slash was not allowed however, for two of the Preklek's had seized the priest and his family, dragging them towards the edge of the cliff, before he could retaliate.

The Preklek's began to converse between each other before turning to Garner.

"You killed Gracko, you dirty elf!", one of the Preklek's screamed.

With that, the two of the Preklek's grabbed his wife and daughterand began to run off with them as the third Preklek dragged Eric, Garner's son, towards the edge of the cliff. Garner was in anquish as he heard the cries of his son but could do nothing about it because the fourth and final Peklek held Garner tightly. The third Preklek lifted Eric into the air and heaved him over the side of the cliff as the fourth let the priest go. Garner dashed towards the cliff, mumbling a prayer as he ran. When he got to the edge, he finished his prayer, hoping to have created a shield of protection around his son but in his mind he knew or at least was convinced that he was not strong enough. As the seeds of doubt crept into the priest's mind, the spell of protection failed and Eric plummeted to his demise.

Preparing for War

Garner extends a cordial smile towards Talisia, saying, "How do you fare today, M'lady?"

Talisia smiles back at Garner and says, "It is a new day, with a new beginning... I am hopeful..."

Garner takes a seat near Talisia. He looks to her inquisitively, "Is something bothering you?"

Talisia blinks, she had thought she had hid her emotions well. She lowers her voice to a whisper and says, "My husband and I were married a week ago and he has already betrayed those vows and took another into his arms..."

Garner nods in understanding, whispering into her ear, "Many people are heartbroken in Hollow because of things such as this. I believe what you call good and evil is to blame."

Talisia looks calm and slightly resigned as she whispers to him. All spark of life gone from her as she whispers, "Perhaps war is the only truth. In a war there isn't good and evil...there is the victor and the loser.... Once, I thought along the same lines as good and evil... and there are few things that I follow still....but there is so much more.... there is so many hurtful things done that one expects an I love you to overcome..."

Garner whispered to Talisia, "To my master and to me, good and evil are only illusions. If there was no good, no love or anticipation of faithfullness, you would'nt have gotten hurt. I seek to irradicate this pain but the road to this is long and hard, and I have no one to accompany me."

Talisia whispered to Garner, "That's the funny thing... I expected faithfulness only to the point that he would tell me if he desired another and I would be okay with it... he tried to lie to me... forgetting that I know when one lies to me...."

Garner whispered to Talisia, "I am tired of the hurt and confusion that peace and order brings. The only truth is chaos. I propose to you a war with you as my second in command."

Talisia whispered to Garner, "Who do you war with?"

Garner whispered to Talisia, "I wage war against those that would impress their views of morality and goodness, the things which are actually the cause of pain, upon us. The followers of Olric."

Talisia whispered to Garner, "I have many friends that follow Olric... I am not sure that I can lead a war against them. All I can do is bring this declaration of war to Aramoth and wait to hear from him."

Garner nods, saying, "If nothing else, just stay out of the way."

Talisia grins and says, "If it does stir up... do you honestly think that I could not involve myself some way in this? I am sure he would strike me down if I did not."

Garner gazes sadly towards the girl, "I would not want to fight you."

Talisia stands and stretches and says, "I shall go to His temple and do as I said. Afterwards I shall return home, I find myself needing to gaze down at my babes... all that I do, I do for them," she leans down and whispers into Garner's ear, "If you fight me, worry not about what might happen to me...worry more for yourself."

Garner nods. "Go, do your business."
