RP:The Dream of Admiration

From HollowWiki

As you open your eyes you find the world around you nothing more than a void. The darkness is consuming though when you look to your feet your mind is puzzled as they are visible as if in direct sunlight. You feel your balance is offset and get a dizzy feeling as you feel that you are constantly falling over. You glance down to your right as you feel someone take hold and notice a familiar glove gripping your hand. Following the tattooed arm up to it's source you find a smiling face of one of your most neurotic friends staring at you. You smile back for some reason and feel happiness suddenly rush through your body. Before you know it, the human is pulling you into his direction as he turns and begins sprinting through the darkness. You don't feel as if you are putting any force into your motions and confusion sets in at how someone so much smaller than you in physical form is able to pull you with such ease. While you two run hand-in-hand, the darkness beneath you is transforming into a complex pathway made of stained glass with magnificent art of dragons plastered upon them. You find your usual worries of the world lifted from your shoulders, the daily routine of Frostmaw given no consideration as you suddenly feel overwhelmed with peace and joy. Then, the man leading you suddenly comes to a halt and you are in place just at his heels. You steal a glance of his face to find his smile long gone and replaced by a look of panic. His chest is heaving as he pushes himself into you and stares with horror into the darkness. At first, you see nothing though the abyss is quick to transform into a giant screen and you feel as if you are watching the events through a window. You see the man before you when you'd first met him, whistling a happy tune while hard at work making the amulet he'd gifted to you. But then, you see his slow descent into darkness. Every step. Every taunt by his demons. You watch as every bit of good in the mans body is torn from place and replaced by evil. You try to look away as he plunges off of the edge of the earth, but you're unable to look away. Then, a familiar scene unfolds before you. You see a nude man in the snow devouring the corpse of a wolf on the side of the path in Frostmaw. You remember the look of fear in the man's eyes just before you brought him back to the tavern to aid him. You feel honored when you find how quickly he places his trust into you and refuses to leave your side even for a moment. You smile as you see him grow fond of you and look up to you. He leaves the frozen civilization with you in mind, dressed in the far too big clothes you'd given him. However, you are suddenly stricken with pain once more as you watch the man follow the same path as his former, though you find yourself sick as it is revealed that you were an aid in this corruption. It is revealed to you in depth that the blue-haired human had fallen in love with you. Your most recent encounters in the way and in the market had many words left unsaid. Your heart feels as though it is breaking when you see a third-person view of you turning and leaving the man alone in the way. The events of that night play out, showing a frustrated man pulling at his hair as he sobs alone in the darkness of the Sage forest. The one who puts on a show of being the fearless villain is nothing more than a child as he tries to stifle his cries to avoid the drow patrols that he lives in constant fear of. Then, Frostmaw. You hear his words as he escapes into the horizon. You find that but only two days later, the human had fallen back into the path of darkness when left to his own accord. You look away from the scene to face the man and you are met with an expressionless stare. You reach out to him, but are unable to make contact as your hand falls right through his shoulder. The stare he gives causes you guilt as you feel that you could have prevented all of this from happening. You question your choice in letting the human live but when you look upon him, you feel as though you are partly responsible for his actions. The smile has returned to his face, his teeth show as an inaudible chuckle falls from him and he shakes his head. Your worries are replaced with a calming aura of peace once more. He reaches out to you and places his palm against your heart. You feel his warmth and his love for you. You know that he never wanted to hurt you, yet you know that he is too far gone for salvation. You try to speak to him but your time has run out. The world around you begins to shimmer and shake and you grow frustrated, you cry out and your eyes snap open. You've scared yourself from your own shouting and think the nightmare is just like the others. You wipe the sweat from your forehead and decide to get up for a glass of water. When you kick your feet from the edge of the bed, you have to double take at the edge of the bed where you spot a blue rose and a small envelope containing a letter. You tear at the envelope and pull out a yellowed piece of parchment and read it. "Hildegarde, I meant what I said. I never wanted to hurt you. I told you that you would live to regret your choices. I know that I am destined to walk alone, and I do not blame you for any of this. You've been a great friend, and I believe there is nothing in this world you could have said or done to stop me from coming to this. Out of respect for you, I will stay out of Frostmaw and will not actively seek you out. When the blood has been shed, if you are obligated to come for me, I shall not fight you if I am in the right state of mind. Forgive me Hilde... It hurts me too." The letter is signed but as soon as you read the words, they suddenly fade from the page. You feel a chill run up your neck and suddenly hear a low whisper in your ear. Once you slap your hand to your neck to check for what the cause of the odd sensation was you hear your door slam shut. Then the sounds of the world return.
