Spring of Vitality

The contrast here - for the present, in comparison to what lay before - is stunning. No longer does the stark, barren landscape lie void of life. Now the works of the denizens of the forest and the powers of the Pixie Druids have restored it to the full glory it deserves. A thick carpet of grass lies underfoot, moss and shrubbery making it soft and spongy. You almost feel tempted to remove your shoes if only to run through this lush blanket of greenery as no thorns or briars are visible, but decide against it as unsure who may come across you. This small patch of forest harbours a new feature than before, a glistening pool encircled by trees. The harsh destruction wrecked from the fires split the very earth here but the final effect has been far from detrimental. From the very ground has sprung a clear spring, filling the small crevice with its natural fluids as if the blood of the earth. Walking slowly over to the waters edge, you spot several tiny creatures flitting on ethereal wings about the radiant water, water Nymphs that guard this haven of life and nourishment with their Druidic magic. You cautiously lower a hand to scoop up some of the blessed water, the Nymphs paying little attention as you mean them little harm and upon drinking it down you feel a sudden rush of vitality. It's truly a wondrous act of nature and once again showing its unwillingness to give up. To your north, east and west lay the other patches of new forest whilst the southern route leads to the Old Forest.

Misaki is sitting with her feet inside the srping water. Surrounded by such natural beauty, the avian looked like she belonged there... an angel in the forest of much destruction. She looked deeply troubled, though... about something. Her fingers played with the tips of her braid.

Tyler made his way through the unfamiliar terrain just outside of Kelay. The topless human looked miserable with blood-soaked bandages wrapped tightly around his stomach and shoulder he moved at nearly a shuffle. The exhausted man had been walking for nearly ten hours in search of aid for his wounds and so far had no luck. As he reached the spring he would tug at his robe bottoms before falling to his knees and diving his hands into the cool water, splashing it onto his face and then proceeding to take a drink using his palms. His caramel gaze would raise just for a moment to notice Misaki, whom he would pause upon for a moment before going back to the water. He hadn't notice anyone else was present and he began to feel offset by his condition. He tried to simply ignore the avian, perhaps she wouldn't judge him too harshly. Going to stand and make his leave, Tyler's legs would argue that he wasn't quite ready to continue his journey yet so instead he remains kneeled and stares at his own reflection in the water.

Misaki looks up with her emerald gaze, watching the human drink from the spring. "...you don't look too good," she commented, "would you like me to look at those wounds?" She had a kind smile on her face... the kind that would draw anyone in.

Tyler raised his gaze to meet Misaki again as she spoke. He chuckled lightly to himself and managed to spit out a phrase without stuttering; "Don't feel too good either." The man would continue to make and break eye contact with the woman as his social anxiety began to set in. Her offer to examine the wounds would, however, manage to peak his interest. Though he began to question her intentions. Sure, she looked well enough, but what if she turned out to be some sadist or something. "Um..." Tyler looks down at his own reflection once more and sighs, what other choice did he have? "I... I don't mind. B-but I don't know if anyone other than a g-glorified healer would be able to make a difference at this point." Tyler reached to his side and began to unravel the bandage that hugged his stomach so tightly. As the blood soaked linen cloth fell from it's place it would reveal a massive lash of claw marks along with some odd design as if he had been struck by a lightning bolt. He then moves to unwrap the bandage on his shoulder which allows an open wound from an arrow strike. Eyes dropped to the ground once more as he expected some sort of insulting remark from the lady at the spring.

Misaki scooted a little closer, her mouth turning into a frown. "...I can at least close it so you won't go crazy when you move," she said, her hands glowing as she started to heal the wound in his hsoulder, "what exactly attacked you? Those are some rather nasty marks."

Tyler would initially retreat from the woman's touch though once he noted the glowing of her hands he allowed himself to ease back in. As her mana began to exit her body and enter his own and the open wound on his shoulder began to seal shut the human would grit his teeth and offer a whimper. At her question Tyler would offer a lie; "D-dragon. Not one of the, the, the nice or intelligent ones. The, uhm, the bone ones near the dark place. I was on my way to fulfill a contract for an elven lad and the path was blocked. L-lost three of my friends, so I consider myself lucky." His eyes squeezed tightly shut as he turned his head to face away from the avian as she worked her magic. "T-the arrow wound is from a rouge that passed through town in K-Kelay the other.. night." Hissing at the pain he whines once more.

Misaki smiled a little. "...oh, really?" she said, "I learned quickly to avoid dark places..." She lowered her hand to his stomach, when she noticed the mark. And she closed her hand. "A-ha," she said, "I recognize this mark."

Tyler would arch a brow as the avian made mention of the mark, his eyes turning to lock with hers as he noted the sureness in her voice. Quickly breaking his gaze to deter any suspicions he would only offer a swift; "Oh?". His eyes dropped to her hand and monitored it closely as he eagerly awaited her response.

Misaki extended her fingers again, hovering her hand over his wound. "...you ran into a blue dragon friend of mine," she stated, "nice try lying..." She chuckled. "...though I have to wonder... why did you do to incur his wrath?" She was giggling.

Tyler manages to pull his face into a look of pure confusion at the avaian's accusation. He pulled his head back a bit and stared at her for a moment examining her features closely. "What are you talking about?" He pulled off a sincere sound of pure confusion and his emotions would not betray him through his features.

Misaki smiled a little. "...Mythayus," she said, "he's not the kind to attack without reason. As far as I know." She shrugged,m removing her hand. "...I lack the strength to heal that ocmpletly," she said, picking up the bandages and washing them in the spring. A couple of the nypmhs popped their head out of the spring to watch her. Misaki just msiled at them, wringing out the clean bandages. "When you find a new healer, make sure to have them check those," she said, starting to wrap them around his stomach again, "though be careful. You can reopen the wound if you strain yourself too much."

Tyler was taken aback by Misaki's statement. 'Mythayus' - was that the name of his opponent in Chartsend? The human found no issues keeping to his act of playing dumb as he knew such little information on the blue dragon that he couldn't be sure it was the one he had fought. Though as Misaki washes his bandages and the nymphs appear Tyler pulls back a bit in surprise as he begins to ponder if he'd accidentally swallowed one of the tiny creatures. As Misaki began to wrap the bandages back around him he shivered violently and pulled away to continue doing the work himself. "I-It's alright. I-I've got it." As he proceeded to return the now wet bandages to their rightful place he would speak again; "I'm afraid you've got the marks mixed up, m-m-ma'am. I told you. A b-b-bone type did this." Tying off the bandages he would try to keep eye contact, and fail, yet again. "I-I don't have any coin to pay you... Uhm, but I appreciate the help. I-I definitely feel better already a-and I could do some work or something for you to r-repay the debt? I'm not good at a lot of things b-b-but I'm sure we can find something." His shaken voice was in part due to his nervousness and also due to the chilled breeze that had set over the spring as night fell. His caramel gaze glanced to the stars for comfort while he awaited a reply.

Misaki smiled a little, digging in her bag. "Keep yourself warm," she said, pulling out a big, fuzzy cloak and wrapping it around his shoulders, "and if that's what you wantme to think, then well..." she grinned, "be careful of the bone dragons." She stood up, extending a hand to help him up. "And there's no need to repay me... though it would be nice to know your name." She chuckled, "I'm Misaki."

Tyler was once again confused by the strangers kindness though relief would wash over him as she dropped the subject of the dragon wound. At the offering of the cloak he seemed taken back but happily accepted the offer under the chilled condition. Conflicted on whether to take the woman's hand he began to pick himself up but figured it would be a much more rude alternative, so instead, he reached out and takes the females hand and gets to his feet. Rocking under legs that had fallen asleep while he was on his knees he would perk at the sound of his name. "Uhm.. I'm.. uh..." He hesitated but was able to play it off as if he were simply stalling due to the cold as he pulled the cloak over himself tightly. "I'm re... light. Yeah, Relyt. At least, t-that's what my parents called me." He chuckled as his teeth chattered from the autumn conditions. "A-are you sure you don't want any sort of p-payment, miss?" The human asked as he swallowed loudly.

Misaki smiles a little. "I'm sure," she said, "it's nice to meet you... Relyt." She tilted her head. "It's an odd name, but I like it." She then noticed that the human was shivering. "...shall we go to a warmer place?" she asked, "we can get those bandages replaced with warmer ones so you don't get sick... and some food would be good, too."

Tyler continued to shake and the thought of food made his mouth water. However, his anxiety got the better of him and he politely refused the woman's kind offer with a wave of his hand. "Uhm... T-thanks but no thanks. I-I've got some matter to attend to b-back home. B-but maybe some other time?" He still wasn't sure what Misaki's game was. Why would she be so kind to a complete stranger? Sure, she looked like the depiction of an angel but Tyler knew better than to judge a book by it's cover. He preferred to try and find the nasty details inside the person to prevent himself from trouble.

Misaki knew the man wouldn't last long with wet bandages... so her eyes got huge ad her lower lip stuck out slightly... it was the most adorable puppy-dog face you would ever see. "But... but..." she said, putting on a little cutesy whine into her voice, "but I want to help you..." Just for teatrics, a small tear started to collect in the corner of her eye, as well.

Tyler had a rush of discomfort rush over him at the avian's display and he was unsure of how to react. He wanted nothing more than to turn and run but he knew his wounds wouldn't allow him. He began running over the various scenarios that could occur if he went with the Avian. What if she was really some sick beast that enjoyed the taste of humans? What if she had a torture chamber hidden away and he was her next pray? But then again, what if she actually wanted to help. Tyler would glance from Misaki to the ground to the sky and back repeatedly. Long, drawn out seconds would pass before Tyler would finally nod in agreement. "Uhm... a-alright then. I-I guess I can put things off for a while." He is tense as he submits and awaits the avian to lead the way to their destination.

Misaki smiles a little. "Well," she said, "I suppose if you walked it would be dangerous... because of all the creatures in the forest... so..." She grabbed both of the man's hands, "hold on tight!" she said gleefully, her wings spreading as she took to the air, Tyler in tow. Heading north, to the Kelay Tavern.

Kelay Tavern

Built and rebuilt, torn apart and set like stubborn bone, this tavern is the pinnacle of Hollow's entirety, wrought around the premise of peace, equality, and consummate amity. And of course, the old place had seen all of the three, but so much more. Dire markings of claw and steel cut deep into wall panels and floorboards. Set against the land's usual motif of destruction are signs of comfort. Twisting shadows and smoothing out a careful blanket of light with soft, quaint fires, a candelabra dangles down by thick cords, gripping the circular holder. Each twists up, converging upon the center, where they snake about one another and form a thick, secure anchor to Kelay Tavern's high, accommodating ceiling. The candelabra rattle now and again from the inn patrons overhead, pouring down globs of wax to the center of the room, which is wide and unobstructed. Cheaply carpentered tables and chairs grow outward around the bare dancing area, keeping to the rounded theme, and also keeping to a dwarven barkeep's avariciously born taste for 'economical' furniture. Hardly any expense has been wasted on the actual upkeep of the public center though, as can be garnered from the smell of deep pine, rich tobacco, and even richer spirits. Stairs twist away dimly near the high bar. And atop that side rests the inn logs, quill, and ink. This establishment's fine keeper, Mesthak, can be seen smiling out from his post at the bar, straight across to the room's always crackling stone-wrought hearth. Behind him, atop lofty shelves, sits an array of dark, amber, and clear liquids. Food smells waft from somewhere near at hand. A carefully printed and hung sign details the purchasable items here in the place of merriment, loss, laughter, and life. Also, tucked into a corner near one of two windows closest to the tavern doorway is a thickly papered bulletin board. A sign has been added next to the board that reads, 'The management requires patrons be fully inebriated at all times and that no curing spells be performed in this tavern-Thank you'.

Tyler :: The man was frightened during the flight to the Kelay Tavern. So much so that he had tensed every muscle in his body to a near frozen state until the duo would land. Overwhelmed with the unsure emotion to be upset or relieved that this was their destination Tyler could only question what Misaki might say if she found out this is where Tyler had been living by renting one of the upstairs rooms. As the two land he would simply continue shivering and remain motionless with the exception of his eyes that bounced all around in complete fear.

Misaki pulled Tyler over to the fire and sat him in a chair, smiling. "Come on now," she said, setting her bag on the ground and rummaging through it, "take off those wet bandages... I'm gonna burn them and you can have these." She pulled a roll of bandages from her bag, fresh and clean and smelling of antibacterial herbs.

Tyler was still shivering as he was forced into the chair the man clinching the cloak around his body tightly. The warmth of the flames licking it his skins was a nice relief from the cool night outside. At her instruction, Tyler pulled the cloak off of himself and would lay it beside the woman before he began picking at the wet linen around his torso and would toss the soggy remains to the floor below as he got them off.

Misaki started to wrap the bandages around the human's torso, when she remembered that before, he took over the job. So she placed the bandages in his hands and tossed the wet rags into the fire, making the fire crackle at the water and hiss. Misaki then went to the bar to get food and drink when a human male touched her arm. She looked up into the tower 6-foot face of her companion. "Ah, Satoru," she said with a smile, "are the children asleep?" Satoru nodded. "And who is this?" he asked, his gray eyes sliding over to where Tyler sat by the fire. "...a new friend," she replied, "I found him injured in Sage..."

Tyler was thankful that the Avian had decided to pass the bandages over to him instead of performing the wrapping process herself. Mending to his wounds he couldn't seem to take his eyes off of the fire, the warmth causing him to relax a great deal. He wouldn't take notice of Misaki nor her new company.

Misaki smiled a little at Tyler, then turned to Satoru. "Well," she said, "I managed to heal most of his wounds, but I couldn't finish the job..." Satoru nodded. "I noticed," he frowned, "go sit. I'll bring you food." Misaki nodded, returning to where Tyler sat and sitting on the floor in front of him. "So, Relyt," she said, "how long have you been in these lands?"

Tyler turned to face Misaki as she returned and offered a forced smile at her arrival. "Erm, N-not too long. F-four months, give or take a bit." His over-active imagination began to run wild as he became curious as to why Misaki wanted to know this bit of information, he offered another swift statement. "S-so I'm not a l-local obviously."

Misaki shrugged. "You become a local eventually," she said, "I frequent this place as well as the taverns in Frostmaw and Cenril and several other places, as well..." She smiled a little. "...sorry. I tend to ramble when I'm meeting new people." She chuckled softly.

Tyler shook his head in dismissal to her concerns of rambling. "You're fine." The human rubbing at his new bandages and still impressed with Misaki's work, though she couldn't complete the healing he still felt almost like new. He turned to face her again and finally mustered the courage to be the first to speak. "So... why're you help, he-..." He clears his throat. "Helping me?"

Misaki tilted her head. She opened her mouth to answer when Satoru joined them, handing Misaki a tankard of ale and a plate of pie, then handing Tyler the same. "Misaki is what you might call a 'bleeding heart'," Satoru said, "she's kind to everyone, and helps when she feels she can."

Tyler was taken by surprise when another person appeared beside him and handed him food and drink. His caramel eyes looking to Misaki for reassurance that it was alright for him to take the offering before shifting back to Satoru. "Oh." is all the human can manage to say before looking back to the pie and beginning to dig into it, he hadn't eaten all day and his stomach made this quite clear by rumbling loudly as ate.

Misaki chuckles softly as Tyler ate. "Well," she said, taking a drink, "I guess Satoru here put it all into perspective." She then also dug into her pie in silence.

Tyler was deep in thought as he devoured the delicious pie that had been gifted to him. The human stopping only to sip at the ale every few bites. He found himself looking from Misaki to the fire and to Satoru only from his peripheral vision. Puzzled at the right combination of words, he couldn't quite find out how to ask the avian his next question and so he let it fade, his anxiety getting the better of him yet again. Though he would allow himself to inquiry on a much less personal basis with a cheek full of pie. "Why were you out there? At the spring I mean?" His voice was not nearly as shaken as it had been just previous. A sign that he wasn't quite as on high alert as he had been since meeting the woman.

Misaki lowered her tankard. The pure happy look on her face was gone, replaced by a dark expression. Not really of anger... but of irritation. "...I'd rather not talk about it," she said, "let's just say... I was searching for someone. And I couldn't find him." Her expression cleared back to the innocent smile. "What about you? Were you just there for a drink?"

Tyler offered a look of regret as he noticed the clear change of tone in Misaki's voice. He didn't mean to upset her and this only aided to fuel his social awkwardness as he insulted himself mentally as she spoke. "N-n-no. I've actually n-n-never been down there before. Iro-iron... Ironically, I was searching for a h-healer." He smirked and exhaled quickly through his nostrils. "I didn't expect to find one to be honest." His gaze would raise to meet with her own. "Thanks again by the way." He would then nod to Satoru and then to the food. "F-fo-for everything."

Misaki smiles a little. "Anytime," she said, laughing cheerfully, "don't be afraid to send me a message if you need help." Satoru nodded. "...I have to check on the children," he said, bowing at the waist, then heading back for the rooms. Misaki placed her empty plate on the ground next to her and folded her hands in her lap. "So tell me a little about yourself," she said, "I think it's nice to meet new people, don't you?"

Tyler would nod to Satoru as he made his departure and the turn his attention back to Misaki before going to take a few more bites from his pie to buy a little bit of time before he would respond. "N-not much to say really. Uhm, as I said I'm n-not from here... Though since I've come here I've tended to hang around K-Kelay and look for work..." The humans tone was of honesty surprisingly. Apart from his guarded secret, there wasn't really anything fascinating nor remotely interesting about the man. He took the final bite of his food and sipped at his ale to wash it down before following suit of Misaki's actions and placing them at his feet. He pulled his legs up into the chair and crossed them. 'W-what about you?"

Misaki shrugs. "There isn't much about me, either," she said, "I'm the kind of person who would go out of her way to help someone, even at the cost of her own life... though I have no memory of why I'm here, or even about my homeland." She smiled a little. "...I've been in these lands almost a year. Satoru found me and we've been partners ever since." Though it was plainly obvious that Satoru was way older than her!

Misaki stood up, taking over Tyler's vacated chair. "Until we meet again," she said, with a knowing smile on her face.
