RP:The Academy Recruits

From HollowWiki

Luthentius was currently seated within his usual chair of high-back, positioned behind a masterly carved desk of dark oak and pine. Before him numerous parchments reside, all of which have been neatly stacked upon the left ledge of the tabletop. The aged Wizard was presently going through a few peculiar sheets of script, obviously given reports of something not nearly as important as the paper they were printed upon; such would be evident since the high elf laid them aside with no further notion of their existence.

Panthium walked through the doors of the cathedral. At first he thought that he had been led astray. But just as his thought came to a conclusion when he saw that where pews should be there were desk. After gazing at the desk he started turning around to take in the a man sitting behind it in a high-back chair. " Um... Excuse me sir. I am looking for Luthentius. I was summoned by him." He held out the letter he was sent.

Luthentius ' mercury gaze momentarily shifts from the scripture adorning the polished surface of the dark desk, the presence of the male interrupting his work, yet even so the aged scholar did not appear to take much offense; clearly a visitor, since any student present in the academy would have known better. An indifferent expression made up the features of Luthentius' visage, not hostile by any means, but merely a stoic and emotionless to sight. You are in luck, Mister. I am Luthentius. Headmaster of these facilities. And you must be...the magus caught a glance at the papyrus extended toward him, ..Panthium. Slowly the Grey Wizard leaned back after have gestured toward the seat opposite to himself, So, Mister Panthium. You desire to learn the elemental arts?

Panthium went over to the seat where he motioned for him to sit down. Still in awe of the structure did his best to get his astonishment under control. As he sat down he redirected his gaze to the wizard. " I am sorry for the interruption sir." He looked at the pile of parchments on the desk. knowing that he must have been busy." I appreciate you getting back to me so quickly. Queen Jacklin told me you would be able to help with my memory loss problem. Yet I also would like to learn the ways of magic if you dont mind."

Luthentius ' steely brows slight inched to loft delicately upon the light complexion of the man's regal forehead, only briefly however, Queen Jacklin was wise to do so. I do not mind attending to possible students, it is what I do here- that, and making certain that everything runs as it is suppose to. I've had some experience in restoring loss of memory before, but such is not an easy feat, I might add. Speckled lips pause for a moment but would then continue their velvety dance, The Academy of Magics is a university for virtually any magic user to learn the ways of the elemental spheres of this realm. You must have a preferred element you desire to learn, yes? Is it Fire that interest you most? Water, Air, Earth even? We also have the possibility of teaching you about the Light Magic, and the Dark Magic, should that be your fancy. What will it be?

Panthium sighed as he gave the question deep thought. he sat his shoulder on his knee and then his head upon his hand. Thinking deeply he could only come up with one answer. He sat up straight and looked back at the Wizard " I would like to eventually learn all of them if it is possible, Sir." Not knowing if his answer was plausible but hopping it would be he sat up straight in the chair. At full attention to wait for his answer.

Luthentius ' dry lips purse visibly upon the reply given, apparently the answer was not entirely what he had hoped it to be. You will forgive me when I say, you shall never become a master of all the elements. The magi then sighed and inclined a nod, That being said, I believe that you should perhaps start with the sphere of Water or Air, before attempting to learn much else. And when a teacher or master has been appointed to you- you can discuss the fact to learn more spheres in his or her care. Will that due? After some time, I shall call upon you, and then you and I shall go through a few sessions regarding your loss of memory. So my question is then, in turn- Air or Water, to begin with?

Panthium nods at the answer he had gotten. he took a deep breath and thought a little on the situation. After a few minutes of silence he wanted to know If he had more options " Is there anyway I could learn earth magic, Sir? Or would you rather me learn one of the other 2? If it is the latter half I will choose air." He rubbed his hands together in a fast motion, which he always did when he was nervous. Yet he was confident in his choice that he had made.

Luthentius inclined a nod, Yes, there is a possibility that you will be able to learn earth magic. If so, that would be with me, currently. However, Panthium, I will tell you; I am very busy, and I will not be able to give you very much attention even if I will give you a few lessons once and again. I can teach you earth magic, indeed, but I propose that you attempt to learn the art of Air first, at least the first steps..and when I have more time I, or if I have found a teacher for that subject, he or she will teach you the secrets of earth already.

Panthium smiled at the wizard. seeming very happy with himself decided he would not trouble the busy wizard with trying to fit him in his schedule. " I will learn the Art of Air then. Sir. It would be my pleasure." After he got done he had a question about the last part. " You said you don't have a teacher for earth yet. How would one become a teacher eventually?

Luthentius inched a tilt to become the silver haired head of the grandmaster, Very well. I do have another student of which is currently learning the magic of earth, I shall send for you when she and I are in session if possible, otherwise...High Master Liana, the Archdruid of Sage, shall be your Master in the arts of Air magic. She is one of the most skilled air mage's within the realm, I suggest you write her a letter saying that the Headmaster sent you to her in -hopes- she will accept this and take you in as her student. A wet tongue quickly passed the speckled lips of the elder, preparing himself before taking to word again, To become a teacher, first and foremost, you must prove yourself worthy of the title by convincing either myself or High Master Liana that you are capable of not only good understanding and ability within the chosen sphere, earth, but also being able to teach this ability to others less inclined. To become a Master, ..well..such is not publicly announced, but this person needs to be elected by all of the council members of the Academy of Magics. There are currently three, Myself, Liana, and Rikailin, a master of Water to the likes I've not seen until today. This..is how.

Panthium bows his head to Luthentius. He then stands and adjust his armor so that it is fitting right. He then looks back to Luthentius " I will do as you say sir and send her a letter as soon as I leave. As for the info on the teacher or being a master of one of the Magics I will do my best and put my full ability into what I learn. I do not plan to let you down. I would actually hope to exceed all your expectations." When he was done speaking he outstretched his hand to shake the wizards in thanks.

Luthentius' ,otherwise having been fairly cordial toward the man, did not mirror the effect of him rising to his feet- in stead the Wizard remained within his comfortable seat. And whilst the hand was extended a sigh left him, these humans would never comprehend his disliking for touch- but even so, he humored the young man, at least considerably younger then himself by many centuries, and as such came to close his slender digits about Panthium's. It was not a firm shake, nor as it very pleasant, Luthentius flesh was cold but immensely soft, perhaps by his elven heritage or due to the lack of manual labor by the scholar, who knew. Perhaps one day I will grant you the title of teacher for an element, but you have hard..hard work in front of you if that is your goal. Exceeding my expectations is not a difficult feat these days, unfortunately, but I do trust you will do so..and more. Further more, I will send you a letter later this night- That letter will be the script of rules that I and the council has established to keep order in the academy, they shall be followed.

Panthium took his hand back after feeling the coldness of the wizards hands. " I will await your letter sir. I thank you once again for seeing me. Please have a good night." He then turned and walked back out of the Academy.

Luthentius would seemingly appear to be quite busy once again, the scripture positioned upon his desk reclaimed within a loose grasp- unfortunately it would seem extremely rude of the elder not to answer, or even recognize the utterance of farewell- but the ancient one was consumed once more, not responding to anyone or anything until either time saw fit to release him through sleep, or if his throat would become dry enough for him to recognize his thirst.

Luthentius could be observed seated within his usual chair behind the desk of dark oak, before him rest countless of scrolls and parchments, most of which has been gone through already, but there was still a considerable stack resting at his side to be read and answered to according to the rules applied. The mere sound of sharpen goose-pen against the rough surface of aged paper was all that was heard within the hall, the students present remained silently whispering as they knew the headmaster would surely make them do horrible chores be done if they disturbed him.

Kalid cautiously notes the student body's demeanor as she treads carefully toward Luthentius' office. Stance unassuming and ultimately reserved, she clears her throat -- it is highly likely the Headmaster would have sensed her presence, but she does most certainly not wish to appear threatening within the walls of the Academy. Assuring herself the message carried to her at the courtesy of Hollow's winds is enough of an invitation to disturb her would-be conversational prater, the paladin harbors little fear. Unlike the students, it would appear.

Luthentius' attention were, naturally, diverted from the surface of the parchment whilst the soft vibration of a cleared throat rose to attention within his near facility; yes, it was true, the Wizard had sensed the approaching presence of the paladin inching closer, but it would be seen as rude as to presume as such before she would make notion of her presence before desiring to be heard. Madame Kalid, the high-born said, the voice laced with a soft feel in its otherwise indifferent tone, as was the usual protocol the male spoke toward any man or woman, King or peasant. I'm pleased to see you took time to come see me. Please, take a seat if you desire. I have a document that you need to look over before you begin searching for students. A graceful gesture indicated for her to claim a seat on the opposite side of the desk of which he reside behind.

Kalid duly accepts the offered seat and, after adjusting the splendid weapon hung at her side, the paladin lowers herself into the chair. "Of course," she offers, cordially, interlinking her fingers on the table before her. "I am more than happy to oblige, Mr. Grey." Offering a genuine, pleasant smile, Kalid patiently awaits to be presented with said document.

Luthentius inclined a cordial nod before reaching in to a drawer, from its hollow cradle a fairly new parchment is claimed and presented to the paladin. She could scent the fresh ink staining its surface with beautiful and precise accuracy. As it stands, as a teacher, you are obligated to enforce these rules whenever they are broken. Clearly, it does not occur frequently but it is a measure required to be taken to keep order. You, Kalid, stand above these rules, and answer only to me and High Master Liana should anything be a miss. We take care of our teachers as long as loyalty is shown in due order. The high elf's visage was as if carved from the very stone this building was made from, but even so she managed to see the hint of amiability in its dull demeanor. He was in fact rather pleased this day, even if not shown publicly. I am pleased to have you with us, Madame Kalid. You and Syrus are extension to the academy I've been searching for, I'm sure I will not be disappointed.

Kalid 's azure-hued gaze flits to the parchment before her, where, with a canted head, the elf absorbs the information inked upon the note. "I am glad," she offers without lifting her gaze "I shall naturally do my utmost to ensure that you are not disappointed." Finally, having finished tracing the elegant script with her eyes, her head tilts back toward Luthentius. "I will enforce your rules, of course. Harming an individual, despite perhaps being within my jurisdiction, is not something I will do lightly, however." Knowing full well that this is not a task she would ever likely have to complete, she voices her stance in a polite tone, simply to assure herself of mutual understanding. Taking a moment, she worries her lower lip before, with a softened expression, she speaks again. "Have you a pen, Mr. Grey? For me to ink my name?"

Luthentius allowed his slender hands to fold and intertwine within themselves upon the smooth surface of the oak desktop, settled there with a light posture of acceptance, mirroring the overall expression presented. I hardly believe you shall have to inflict harm toward any of your students, Madame, but such is entirely up to your own wishes and desires. I allow an abundance of freedom for my teachers and Masters, allowing them to teach in a manner they see fit- if actual physical punishment shall be the sentence of the Council should any issue occur, it shall be dealt with by one of its members and not the teacher him or her self, as such you can rest assure. That document is yours to keep, thus reminding you should you forget its details- I know I have at least three copies merely for myself to remember them, and should any further be stated, you will naturally be notified.

You nods softly, pushing his own inkwell and extravagant goose-pen to be used by the paladin herself- a grand gesture if any, surely it was otherwise reserved only for the headmaster.

Kalid tentatively lifts the goose-pen from the inkwell, delicate fingertips careful to cradle it with the care is rightly deserves. In her own fine, elegant script, the paladin's full name is scribed. "My thanks," she offers, returning the pen to its inkwell and pushing it back toward the Headmaster. "I shall treasure my new title and impart whatever knowledge I can onto any that wish to learn it." Another smile.

Luthentius mastered a light smile, a rarity of anything. Good. There, Madame Kalid, you are now a teacher of my academy. You are free to teach under my banner without restriction to your chosen sphere of influence. I do tend to keep in touch once in a while, but otherwise you are free to do what you believe is best. If you have any questions, I am most willing to answer them now.

Kalid dips her head respectfully and rolls the parchment before her into a neat, tidy scroll which is subsequently tucked into the folds of her cloak. Using the table before her as leverage, the paladin draws herself to her feet and offers Luthentius yet another smile. "I have none presently, Mr. Grey, but I shall send word if any should arise." Dipping her form lightly -- a polite courtesy -- she readjusts the scabbard-dwelling Temerity into a more comfortable position. "Thank you ever so much for your time, and I will do my utmost to fly your banner with the honor is rightly deserves."

Luthentius did, in fact, rise from his own comfortable seat whilst the woman showed such refreshing detail to old and sacred tradition of bowing. As such the Grey Wizard, the Grandmaster of Magics in Larket, lower a bow in succession to hers. He must really be in a good mood today to express such feats of gesture, It is my pleasure, Madame. Reward is always imminent for the hard working and loyal. Do me good and you shall always have an ally to rely upon.

Kalid appreciates the return politeness - a breathe of fresh air, truly. "Good is all I will ever do," she retorts, truthfully. "You will find I am loyal to a fault, and will always tread the path of light. If you would be so kind as to excuse me, I must go and offer my respects to Xalious before, finally, I can welcome the welcome relief of a pleasant slumber."

Luthentius commanded a nod, and a gesture indicating he consented to her wishes of departure. Certainly. Have a pleasant day, Teacher.

Kalid 's smile curves broadly at the title and, with another curt nod, she makes her exit.
