Starry Heavens - Lost Amongst the Stars

This room doesn't seem to have walls at all instead you are standing underneath the dark sky. The roof of the tower is completely flat, and there is nothing between you and the ground below. Millions of stars are sparkling above you, and you feel that if you would stretch out your hand you could touch them. The constellations are clearly visible here, slowly moving around the polar star in a gracious, eternal dance. After you have been standing here for some time, lights appear on the northern horizon, slowly moving and changing colors. Then twelve stars grow stronger in light, and you see they form a circle in the sky, like a silver wheel or a starry crown the corona borealis. They slowly begin to spin, slow at first, but then faster and faster until it looks like a brilliant circle in the sky. The other stars become less visible as the light brightens, and all that you can see is the spinning orb in the darkness of the sky. After a while the spectacle in the sky has stopped, and you find yourself standing again underneath the quiet heavens. You realize you have witnessed something very special and mysterious, although you are not sure yet what it all meant. Slowly you go down the stairs again. Blended in almost perfectly as a set of steps made of stars, heading up

Diamond sat on the ground with her head tilted up, undoubtfully staring at the stars. Her green hued eyes were wide and mirrored the light that the stars shined downward. Who knew how long she had been sitting? Who knew how long she had gone without blinking? Her pale lips were parted and it seemed that she had been humming softly, of course very softly. Last time someone had heard her. Oh, how embaressing.

Aranhil entered the room atop the roof, clearly an enchantment was in play to make it appear that they who entered here were in fact walking on air and could see the ground far beneath them. The first thing that had caught Aranhil’s eyes was the sparkling sky, the dark veil would never leave this place no matter the time of day and so made it perfect for those star gazers. Aranhil allowed his eyes to dance between a bunch of constellations for a time and would so far not even notice the woman that he knew to be Diamond even through her humming.

Diamond was to busy to notice Aranhil. She was lulled by the dots that were bright. Dia had never seen stars, or so many at once. She had always went to bed before they came out, so this was a new experince. In which, she promised herself never to forget. Her humming ceased and her mouth closed. It had been open for awhile, evidence shown through chapped lips and dry throat. The woman licked her lips and cleared her throat. Then, her eyes blinked. Tears ran down. Now Dia wondered how long she had been there. Even with the question at hand she didn't want to leave. For some reason she felt very safe here, as if no one would come by. The elf shifted a bit, pulling her knees to her chest and resting her chin to the knee cap. Yes, safe....

Aranhil had relaxed standing where he was, not shifting his weight, and then he would hear the noise of soft movement and perhaps even a cleared throat. Turning to see where it may have come from he spies the lovely Diamond. Not wanting to break the silence he would see how close he could come to her without catching her attention. Carefully and with the silence only a elf could move with he approaches her from behind. If he would go unnoticed he would take a seat behind her before saying “Hello,” in an attempt to surprise or scare her, but all in good fun.

Diamond stiffened a bit as the man sat down next to her. And only after he spoke did she relax. Honestly, her heart had been beating like a war drum. Yes, she was scared, but now she was surprised, " Oh...Hi..." Dia looks away," Didn't think anyone would come here. Doesn't seem like a place many people would want to go see randomly.."

Aranhil smiled as he replied, “Well, you could say I had a feeling I should come.” He didn’t know exactly what he meant, but just thought it may be best to say. “So how are you Diamond?”

Diamond shook her head but smiled none the less, then finally looked back to him. There was a smile on her face but it didn't seem to reach her eyes," Aran...I wanna go..I really do. And like Kain said its my decision. I do appreciate everything you have done for me, but...This is something I have to do. You probably don't wanna have to be watching me during the whole thing but I promise that I won't get in trouble! And I mean it!"

Aranhil sighed and hung his head allowing his eyes to rest as he closed them momentarily. “It isn’t that I don’t want you to go because I’m afraid you will get into trouble. I don’t want you to go because of the Masked one that may be there. He isn’t normal, and he hasn’t any control. If things get messy then everyone that will be there will be in danger.” The masked one….he was the masked one. Fertangle’s mask hung in his shop now, but she surely wouldn’t connect the dots yet. Perhaps not even until she sees him there, crouched low to the ground with his many poisons in tow, and a chaotic crossbow notched and ready to fire.

Diamond wrinkled her nose and shook her head, " I don't care. I really don't. If 'things' do get messy I will be there. I have a score to settle with that man. I may have lost my memories but I am certaintly not useless..." A hand was placed on his shoulder heavily and her eyes blazed with determination, " If worse comes to worse I break a few bones or get shot with something. But people can heal. Please, please let me go!"

Aranhil couldn’t help but say yes, but at the same time he devised a way to stop her later. “Fine then, you may go, but only if I go with toy. When we find out the time and day we meet at my shop and then head there together, deal?” He would not let her go, not if it meant her life. Broken bones we heal from. The deadly toxin that he may release hasn’t a cure, no way to heal, and it’s a horrible way to die.

Diamond smiled and eeped, " Thank you!" And then she suddenly lunged at him, hugging him tightly, " I promise I will stay out of everyone's way! And I'll make sure I don't get hurt, I promise!"

Aranhil nearly tumbled backwards from his sitting position when she more or less tackled him. Although somehow he allowed himself to fall back and rest upon his back, his own arms squeezing Diamond tight. “I know you wont be hurt, Ill be the one to make sure of it.” He had said it more on instinct than anything else, but he had meant it. He would never again allow harm to come to Diamond. Not so long as he lived.

Diamond sighs faintly and nods, " Well, accidents do happen I suppose though." She didn't even seem to be catching on to his lie, she believed him, and that was that. She was joyed with his agreement. She wanted her revenge. Dia wanted to see 'Bell' die, " Was that short man in your store your friend?" Of course she was referring to Kain.

Aranhil nodded his head sideways, “We had talked a time or so before. But initially he was looking for others to join his groups. That was the first time I had met him face to face.” Aranhil sat up now somewhat releasing her although he still sat close by her side.

Diamond nodded faintly and then, sat yet again like she always did. Knees to her chest and arms wrapped around," Aran, can I ask you a question? Not asking you if I can ask you a question but a different question?" Her eyesbrow knitted together as she sought to speak the right words, but that was all she could get out. To make up for her rambling she looked to him with a bright smile

Aranhil smiled back softly, “Ask all the questions you want, you only need hope I have an answer, or am willing to give one.”

Diamond quirked a brow but shrugged and then looked up, " Why do you waste your time on me? I can already guess that you know that I have no gold, or else I would have already started paying you back for the slave trade. And I am useless without no memory..." The woman paused, " I am sorry, I just wanna know. It just doesn't make sense to me. Maybe its because I wouldn't know. You are the only friend I have. Like, a best friend."

Aranhil’s smile faded as he thought on how best to answer the question. He knew what the most simplest answer would be, but what guy in their right minds would just so obviously say something. Finally he took a breath and said to her, “Because I know you need the help, and I have it to offer you.” He smiled at his clever little bit of words although it was true, in fact he helped all that he could, he just felt more inclined to help Diamond….and he was beginning to understand why.

Diamond nodded faintly, " I do need the help, alot....But maybe one day I won't need it. Maybe one day I will regain my memory. I have met two people so far who know me, and seem to miss the old me, well...Atleast one of them did. He looked very sad when he found out I didn't remember him, or my daughter..." Her nose wrinkled at the thought, that was the first time she had seen a pained look on another being's face...It didn't look good to her, " You know, I think I remember something from my memory."

Aranhil’s mind suddenly began to wonder, ‘What if she has someone already? If she gets her memory back would she still want to be around me?’ he pushed the thoughts from his mind but new he would revisit them later. “Well, if you don’t need the help, cant I just hang around you to be near you?” Next he would ask of course what perhaps she remembered of her memory.

Diamond nodded, " Of course. I already said you were my friend. Theres just an extra benift of the fact that you have helped me more then you should." It was more a joke then a hint. The elf couldn't help but feel bad about everything he has done, but she has done nothing for him. And he seemed so willing to do it. That was something she had thought about often.

Aranhil laughed softly at her phrasing of words. “Diamond, don’t worry about anything, Im here for you and all you have to do in return is be happy. That’s really all I want, to never again see that scared and sad look upon your face like I did when we first met.” It was indeed something he never wanted to see again, something as beautiful as she should never look so down.

Diamond almost frowns but caught herself in the act and then sheepishly smiled, " Okay, I will try not to....But people scare me and the world makes me sad. I can't help it...." There was a sudden pause and then she looked down," But hey, you make me happy over anything else so I guess I have done it?" Her lips pursed in thought. It seemed like an unfair trade to her.

Aranhil allowed a smirk to cross his lips as he reached out to Diamond and gently pulled her towards him so that they sat right against each other. Hesitantly he would wrap an arm around her and say, “Lets just forget everything for now, the stars are out and seem closer than ever before. Lets just enjoy that while we can of the moment granted to us.” His smile broadened.

Diamond slowly placed her head against his shoulder. Her body was tense at first but would soon relax. There was nothing against it, it was just a reflex to everything and anything, " Okay, that sounds fine..." Her eyes half closed for a second but then would widen as she felt something nudge her leg. With a snap look she would see the fox curling up in a ball infront of her, " Thank you again....For everything."

Aranhil kept his smile the whole time, and when she looked to the fox that had most obviously surprised her he would look as well wondering what may have caught her attention. He allowed his smile to dissipate as she calmed back down and rested her head once more on his shoulder and his head to hers. “For you anything,” he would whisper more to himself than to her but she may have heard it as well.

Diamond sighs faintly and looked up a bit, perhaps accidently moving his head, " Its very beautiful here. Is it always like this? Or only at night?"

Aranhil shrugged lightly, “To be honest I am not sure, this is my first time venturing this far north in Xalious. It’s my first time here as well. But wouldn’t it be wonderful if it never changed? One could lose themselves in the starry heavens for hours.”

Diamond blushed faintly and giggles, " Thats true. I am unsure how long I have been here just staring at the stars...." The elf paused to clear her throat, " You know...I use to be an artist.."

Aranhil continued looking upward even at what she had said and her giggle that gave him a smile for he had never heard her giggle before. “Oh yeah, what did you do, what kind of art?”

Diamond shook her head, raising her head away from his shoulder, " I don't know...I just saw myself doing art. I don't know what it was but it was on this large piece of paper on this wooden holder thing."

Aranhil new what she was speaking of, well the items she had spoken of anyway. He could picture them in his own mind but not being an artist he could not recall their proper names. “I see, have you remembered anything else yet?”

Diamond shook her head, " No..Thats it. And I am unsure if that even was a memory. I was just sitting in the grass and I saw it."

Aranhil thought to himself, he did not know what to say to her, so all he came up with was this, “Im sure your memory will come back eventually Diamond. Ill be there with you every step of the way. You can always talk to me if you feel you need to.

Diamond smiles faintly and lets her head plop back onto his shoulder, " I know you will be there...Thank you."
