Summary: Meri and Magik spend some time together at her place in Cenril.

The Rebel Room

Meri is here too....! We'll say that today Meri is in the gallery rather than in her little flat, the kid doesn't seem to be within sight...but that probably means she's asleep up in the flat. And Meri? Well she's working on some sort of picture. Maybe she'll let Magik see this time? It involves a lot of black though.

Magik does his normal walking around the gallery while looking for any new pieces. He eventually makes his way to Meri. After a kiss to her cheek, he peaks over her shoulder which shouldn't be hard to do. Tall elf and all..

Meri :: Over Meri's shoulder? Meri wasn't exactly short, but Magik still head about seven inches on her. He was probably just looking straight over her head, honestly. And what was this tall elf going to be looking at? A picture of another tall elf, a very rough sketch. How many stupidly tall elves did Meri know though? There was still a lot of empty background. What was she up to exactly? "Yeah, yeah, yeah....I know. I know. What a sap." Meri turns to greet Magik with a proper smooch.

Magik returns the kiss lovingly then smirks, "I think it's cute." Hell, it's more than what some past relationships have done. The elf plops into a nearby seat. There was probably a question or two on Meri's mind. He was prepared. However, he asks, "How long have you been painting? Not this particular one, just in general.."

Meri doesn’t join Magik and the why behind that should be obvious. He’s here and this is a drawing of him, Meri instead angles her canvas so that she is facing Magik while she draws. Not that she really needed help remembering what he looked like. Either way, it was fun to check the guy out a bit while she works. Can’t blame her for that. “Drawing, since I was a child. A sketchbook and some charcoal is pretty easy to cart around, you know? Tattooing, about seventeen is when I talked my way into my first parlor. Painting? Not until I actually decided I wanted to stick around Lithrydel. It’s more of an investment. I’d say about six years now?” A bit of a shrug, Meri and time. Meri does indeed have questions. She always does. “You’re not from Lithrydel either. Sylo Alari, I think I have heard you say? What made you leave?”

Magik said to you, "You sure you're ready for that answer?"

Meri lifts a brow at that response, letting her hand fall back to her side. Fine. No more drawing Magik for the moment. “I mean, I asked. But I think we both know that there is really only one way for us to find out the answer to that…”

Magik did listen to Meri attentively, smiling while she explained. Ope. There's the big question. The elf's smile fades as he adjusts his posture. He relaxes back and props his ankle up on his knee. He comfortably folds his arms across his chest, "I felt this one was coming." The Lyastri smirks then continues on, "I, um.." He thinks for a quick moment. There's no use beating around the bush so he tells it how it is, "I killed my father when I was younger. He was an abusive drunk who would beat on me and my..who I thought was my real mother..As I grew, he started preferring her over me.." The elf clears his throat and continues on, "There were years where I couldn't do anything about it because I was so young..I ended up having enough one night. And.." Magik points to his forehead, "Right there." "It sounds more simple than it was. He had my "mother" on the ground almost begging for her life. I scared him when I walked in and his finger pulled the trigger of the crossbow..She was gone immediately..However..Me and him started fighting and long story short. I was the only one to walk away from that night." He shrugs, "I had nothing left from that point, so I left and found my way here."

Meri’s a little puzzled over what answer Magik could possibly give that she might not be ready for. There are a lot of scenarios and Meri’s got quite the imagination, as one might expect from an artist. Meri listens though and her expression softens. Fiiiiiine Magik, maybe Meri really isn’t the total worst of all women, as her reaction has her moving closer to the elf and taking him by his hands. He might have to deal with a bit of charcoal transferring from her fingers to his, oh no. Once he’s done talking, Meri’s going to press a kiss to his cheek. “Some parents are nothing but crap.” Not that Meri ever pretends to the best of them. “Knowing this about your past doesn’t change how I think or feel about you.” So yeah, it’s an answer Meri can handle. “Your real mother though…?”

Magik takes Meri's hands in his and even brings one up to kiss. He looks up to Meri with his eyes blazing his normal black, "I actually accidentally found her here. I don't know if you knew her but Atropos is my real mother. We ended up becoming friendly when I got here and she took me under her wing. One day we were just talking and she asked where I came from. She started connecting the dots and..The rest is history." Magik may have pulled Meri onto his lap by now..He then asks, "You said "either" earlier. Are you not from Lithrydel?"

Meri :: Magik’s lap is a good place to be, except the two of them are talking, and Meri’s sort of keen on eye contact during conversations. Especially with Magik, often his eyes are that fiery black but sometimes they’re this curious shade of blue. So if Meri is going to end up in Magik’s lap, she’s going to be facing him and both of her arms will end up draped over his shoulders. “I am not. And I left for similar reasons as you. My family all died and there was nothing left there for me. Four when my father died.” Not much older than Fleur. “I hardly remember him. Eight when my mother was killed. And then it was just me and my brother until I was about sixteen….” But as Meri has said, he’s not alive either. The blonde presses her lips together a moment, trying to inject a bit of humor back into their conversation. “Wasn’t there some sort of threat on the table if you ever got me going on this emotional crap again?” A half smirk. “I supppppose….your new current status as my ‘thing’ gets you a pass on that.”

Magik frowns as he learns the fate of Meri's family, "I'm sorry, babe.." A switch of gears is definitely needed. A soft smirk forms, "Well, you asked. No secrets from me. Not with you, anyways." Magik wraps his arms about Meri's waist, "How about something a little more light hearted? Whatcha got?"

Meri gives Magik a slight poke when he apologizes, if only because there was no real need for it. “Naw, I did ask. Besides,” Meri makes vague motions between the two of them, not that there was much space between them right now. “If you’re an open book for me? But I do nothing but clam up? Well then whatever we’ve got going on between us probably won’t last very long. Wouldn’t that be a sad story.” But yes, onto more chipper subjects. “Question number three,” she teases dramatically, settling on something she’s pretty sure is a bit more light in nature. “When you turn into smoke? Are you actually like….flying? How high can you fly?”

Magik nods in agreement, "Aye. That would be pretty tragic if this didn't last. I'd might have to go back to Sylo forever then." He wiggles his eyebrows. He's obviously pretty fond of Meri so if he lost this one, he actually might stay true to his word because Meri is a good egg. As for the smoke question, "Ooh. Yeah. I'm actually flying and I can go as high as needed. It's a weird thing. I can even have people flying with me. Two seems to be the reasonable limit right now. The smoke thing can also be used in other ways." The elf smiles brightly and chuckles, "I actually flew into the lungs of a frost giant once and set him on fire from the inside out.." It was pretty gross. He then gives Meri a look, "Are you afraid of heights?" Please say no.

Meri wrinkles her nose up at the thought of Magik returning to Sylo for good, “Shoot, we can’t have that happen. I think quite a few people might want to have my head if it ever came down to that, Tessa included.” Meri smirks. “So I guess you’re stuck with me.” The blonde looks a little bit more serious, “I suppose that really might depend on how high we’re talking? Like. You know. I can handle about...rooftop height? Much more though…” Red lips pull into a bit of a lopsided grin. “The worst part of it is though? There’s not even much reason for it and I know it. I mean I had us both levitating at one point…” Or technically their chairs, but the mechanics of it all were still the same. “But my mind just gets caught up on how much it would suck to hit the earth and I can’t focus.” Since Meri has gotten away with more than two questions tonight, she just keeps on pressing her luck though. “How does carrying people work, though, when you are all smokey and not...tangible…?” Or so Meri assumes. She’s never poked at smoke Magik before.

Magik definitely smiled when Meri says he's stuck with her. He's okay with that. It's been nice having a partner around who isn't literally any of his exes. Back to smoke talk. "I would never let you fall..I should take you up one day to get a view of the continent. It's absolutely amazing. As for how it works..It's like this.." Magik holds Meri's waist tight as a black cloud quickly surrounds them. He doesn't move but he lets them be in the mysterious form, feeling weightless at the same time. The closer they are, the more they can see each other. However, Meri and Magik's feet would look like smoke through each other's eyes.To any outsider, they are nothing but a smoke cloud surrounding the chair they were in. If something were to come between them real quick? It would feel weird but as long as Magik had a held on whoever, they would be pulled back together. As for the outside world..It's like having smokey and tinted goggles on. Easy to see but definitely a darker tone.

Meri was looking like she might have some sort of joke comment to make in response to Magik dropping her. It’s not voiced though, before Meri can even get the words properly formed into her mind Magik is giving her a little demonstration. This wasn’t quite her intent or angle when she started with this line of questioning, yet it was probably the best way to satisfy her curiosity. Her reaction is a tame one as they are still relatively grounded and are still in the comfort of her gallery. She’s just getting used to the sensation of weightlessness, and that currently involves her lifting a hand, trying to move it around and then she tries to stick said hand out of the shadowy mass like a dork. “Into the lungs of a frost giant….” Meri repeats as she processes everything Magik has laid on her. “That is pretty clever, I gotta say...”

Magik nods, "Aye. It smelled awful. Right up through his nose, into the lungs. And...Fire." As Meri reached out with her hand, she would see it be nothing but smoke. And with that, the smoke is gone. "It also comes in handy when there's a need to be sneaky or to get into hard to reach spots." Recon on the Mage's Tower has been done in smoke form and rescuing students in Kelay as well. Lots of uses. Magik look into Meri's eyes and thinks for a moment. There is one thing he's never tried. The elf tries his best to hold back a smile then changes the subject, "So how was your night with Rumi, Mahri, and Tessa?"

Meri was half expecting to see actual flesh when she attempted to stick her hand outside the smoke. There is a moment where her blue eyes widen when she finds that it’s still smoke. If she had not come to trust Magik, this realization that she could be stuck like this for as long as Magik wanted would be considerably more unsettling for Meri. The thought is dismissed because Magik is looking into her eyes. Was that a smile? Meri couldn’t be sure. “What….?” Meri says, like she can sense Magik is thinking -something-. She’ll instead answer his question, “Ah, that night was short lived honestly. Rumi was a bit hungover, ended up doing her own thing. I came home to the kid...Mahri and Quintessa? Spent the right of their night talking about what Mahri has missed. Which I only know because Mahri came out here the next day for a chat.” A bit more hesitantly. “You two go way back, yeah? Because she seems pretty set on trying to help me work through some things so that...we don’t ever end up finding out if Magik turns into a superwolf if bitten.” See? Meri’s question had some intention before the two of them got very distracted.

Magik winks after Meri's, "What?" That's all he'll hint at that thought he had. What does that mean? Only Magik knows at the moment. The elf chuckles at the thought of Rumi being hungover. As for Mahri and Magik going way back, he nods, "Yeah. We do go pretty far back. I'm actually a little surprised she'd offer some help. She's a bit of a, no pun intended, a lone wolf. I'm glad you two are getting along though." Magik obviously wasn't "too" worried about Meri biting Magik. He's had worse happen, to be honest. There was a 'slight' concern but he wasn't going to show it. "She must have some secret relating to that because I've never seen her..change?" Was that the right term?

Meri :: Did Magik just answer her question with a question? Meri is perplexed, amused, and maybe a little bit flustered. She likes having answers to these questions. Meri is skeptical but she doesn’t turn into a nag, she’ll let Magik have this secret but he’s not going to be let off the hook without having to deal with a bit of sass from Meri. At least it’s usually in good fun when coming from her. “That. Is not fair. Playing the mysterious card? Leaving me in the dark?” Meri smirks a bit, “Well, you know what? It’s working.” The tone is more serious as Meri shifts back the subject back to Mahri, “Really? That’s interesting. I get the lone wolf vibe, but once we got done talking about Tessa’s work with finding those artifacts? It was the first topic she went for.” Meri shrugs and then smirks. “I suppose it’s a bit of a compliment to both of us then. I’ll take her up on her offer though. She wants me out in the Sage area for this lesson. I can always swing by your place afterwards…?”

Magik will just have to keep being mysterious. There will be a time to maybe see if his thought would gain any traction. Meri will just be left in the dark for now. However, he's thankful for Meri mentioning that Mah is interested in Tessa's work. "That's some news..Mahri wanting to be more involved with the artifacts and such. Is she feeling alright?" Magik was obviously kidding. This just means that the Syndicate will be getting more active soon.

Meri has no answer to Magik but a shrug in terms of Mahri, if only because Meri doesn’t know the other lycan well enough. She has observed that Magik has dodged another one of her questions though. Is she mad? Naw. Magik is just going to have to deal with more jokes from Meri. “You won’t tell me what…” she smirks. “And no answer to if I can swing by your place after these lessons.” Meri was actually confident to that answer, just like she was pretty sure she knew the answer to this next time. She’s after his hands again, this time they’ll be moving in the general direction of upstairs. “So if I ask you if you’re staying the night tonight?” Stay. Go. One way or another, Magik’s player will get to run off to sleep.

Magik was lost in thought for a second there. "Oh. Sorry. Yes. Please stop by afterwards. Tell Mahri too. I'll get dinner and drinks together while you two are out there." Hands! He held hers in his as he rose to his feet, "Only if you'll have me.." Of course she will, ya goof. She asked. Get it together, Magikrios. Upstairs they go or outside if Meri changes her mind. Obvs up to her.
