RP:Running... And Running A Business

From HollowWiki

Summary: Per their usual their weekly jog, Lanara meets Thalra in front of the Kelay Tavern, where the two work on their stretches before beginning their Sunday norm. The two play catch up, and jog towards Cenril, intent on reaching the bath house to have a luxurious bubble bath, the perfect start to their, hopefully, perfect week. The drow informs the witch that she's hosting a formal affair for her grand opening of her tincture shop in Cenril, and after some discussion, they team up to get the Backstreet Bards to perform at the event, as well as draw in a crowd.

Thalra felt the cool morning against her as she ran down the street towards Kelay Tavern from the west. Her heart barely beginning to pound in her chest as she skidded to a stop against the dry road. She wore a pretty simple work out attire, a crop top shirt brown in color only mildly spotted with sweat, and a pair of short cyan shorts. Her hair was tied up in a long pony tail which still touched her upper back, even while it had been knotted nearly twice. Her red eyes glowed in the dimly lit environment, taking advantage of the low light to use her exclusive drow night vision. Fully exposed in her sparse garments, the drow had a considerably athletic figure which still managed to look feminine despite the well defined muscles which appeared very well toned. On her back she had removed her bow, even while she lacked any visible arrows to fire with. Arching her back placing her bow on its end she placed a single finger, on the tip of the bow and then with almost inhuman balance held her body above the bow by a single finger in perfect balance by the bow sitting on end against the street. Occasionally she would shift between fingers, and bring her body up and down using her fingers in this manner to pull off almost gravity defying push ups. She was waiting for Lanara. But that wasn't stopping her from getting her workout. Especially since she would be jogging not sprinting. "Glad nobody’s up, last time I did this, there was crowd."

Lanara arrives a few minutes late, her long locks pulled back in a high ponytail that swishes when she walks, her eyes bright and her smile wide, as she walks over to where Thalra is doing a unique version of push-ups. “Good morning! I hope I’m not too late. Were you waiting long?” She sees the sweat already peeking through the drow’s cropped knit top, and she’s thankful that they decided to meet early in the morning, as the afternoon sun would be even hotter. Lanara is wearing a gray sports bra which shows off her slightly toned stomach and arms, and spandex black legs, with gray sneakers adorning her feet. As Thalra works on ground exercises, Lana bends at the waist and rests her fingertips atop her shoes, stretching her shapely calves. “How have you been, Thalra? Is the construction of the shop almost complete?” Once her long legs are feeling limber, Lana would work on back and arm stretches, a necessity before every run. “Also! How did it go with your date? Think you’ll see Fletcher again?” A knowing smirk graces her full lips, as she rolls her neck from side to side, and swiftly moves into breathing exercises. She was now fully prepared for their long run from the Kelay Tavern to the bath house at the end of Cenril, though she’d wait for Thalra to finish with her push-ups and answer her inquiries before they’d take off at a matched pace.

Thalra offered a focused smile when Lana showed up. "Good morning. No it has not been long." She said. "I been well, Shop is finely completed so I’m already planning the grand opening five days from now." With some exertion, Thalra used her hand thrust herself into a back flip, which she did almost thrice, before landing atop of the bow again without losing balance. Then, she bent her back backward and allowed gravity to follow, using her knees to absorb the graceful fall, and the slow rise back up into a standing position. "The date went well at least up until we were along the beach," She shook her head, "Mermaids." She sighed, and bent backward until her torso went under her legs, and then she pulled herself back to standing position. Lifting each of her legs behind her and stretching them. "I don't think I'll see him again, not in this life anyway."

Lanara giggles as Thalra’s agile form draws a crowd, and several bystanders applaud and catcall at the shapely drow. The witch has never seen a bow used in this way before, and she stares at her friend, transfixed. The comment about the poor male being murdered at the scales of a mermaid draws her attention, and Lana frowns, “I’m so sorry to hear that. He seemed promising, too. But its better that it happened sooner rather than later, so that you weren’t very attached.” It’s all the comfort she can come up with, as there are no other words for such a tragedy. But Thalra was a touch chick, and she’d bounce back in no time, and have many potential suitors lining up at her door. Finally, they both are sufficiently warmed up and stretched, and they start their job towards the east. Lana hasn’t even broken out in a sweat, even after those vigorous stretches, though she was used to morning jogs, giving dance lessons, and such. The only sound for a few minutes is their shoes hitting the pavement, as they steady their breathing, and run in companionable silence. Lana would comment, as they prepare to go over the bridge, “So, what sort of opening ceremony are you having? It will be formal attire, right? Is there anything I can help with?”

Thalra offered a smile to the catcallers, and winked. Grabbing the bow and slinging it over shoulder, she quickly made pace with Lana, as they jogged out of Kelay. "Well, it couldn't be helped, I stopped by the Lounge, and she was gossiping to her friends about eating a guy who was dating a drow." She gave another smile this one mischievous as she jogged. "The feline though I think had the best deal of night, eating five sardine sized mermaids." She jogged a bit, the sweat beginning to fade from her clothing, as she was stepping out of the vigorous exercise and into a more steady pace. As they moved over the bridge, she replied. "Well I was thinking formal attire, thinking of hiring a jacket boy for the night, help the men out of their jackets specially if I can get someone to get that small fighting ring up, I could really use help finding some bards, I knock on a door, and bards and artists leave by window and door, to get away." She chuckled. "If you know any bar tenders I am setting up three bars, one inside the shop and two in the courtyard, might even indulge in getting some dancers as well, when you want draw in a crowd you put on a show." As she passed near the gate a frosty chill flashed out against her skin, from a very enlarged form of Shiloh sitting patiently by the side of the road, "Just enough cool to chill thank you dear." she said as Shiloh gave a lick to her as she jogged past. "Maybe even some fireworks, ought to be a bit of show."

Lanara feels the cold blast emanating from the mouth of the drake hatchling, and she does a double take as she sees how much Shiloh has grown, seemingly overnight. The gust of cold air is welcome, as the blaring sun beams down on the two women and the heat was in the upper eighties. Lana jogs in place as Shiloh is greeted, and she tightens the clasp on her hair, her dark eyes widening as Thalra talks about going all out for the upcoming opening of her shop. The entire plaza in Cenril would be included in the celebration, and as the drow speaks of a dance area, fine foods, liquor, and fireworks, she nods in perfect agreement. “That all sounds so wonderful! Would you like me to speak with the Backstreet Bards? They are a boy band in the area, and I do have connections.” More like a ‘stalker’ but she’d leave that part out. Nick was easy on the eyes, and she didn’t mind having the lycan chase after her all that much. It was insanely flattering. “Also… I would be happy to get some bards together. I am a member of the guild. A professional dancer, and I’ll even perform an opening dance for you, should you want that.”

Thalra looks up, "Who are the backstreet bards...Sure If they are a good band, It would be great to have them." She smiled unknowingly unaware of how much fame they had. "I would enjoy having an opening dance, something for everyone between purchases, why I might even show off my rare elixir collection. Course whether or not those elixir’s work here in these lands well that’s up for debate." As she continued to jog, as they neared the city gates.

Lanara stops short, nearly face planting on the sand covered path as they continue their jog through Cenril, the look on her pretty face one of sheer horror. “You don’t know who the Backstreet Bards are? Have you been living under a rock?!’ The realization that Thalra –had- been living underground for hundreds of years still doesn’t excuse her for never having heard of the most famous boy band in all of Lithrydel. “They play all types of instruments, they have the most soulful ballads, and you can’t help but be entranced by every single one of their songs. Trust me, you want these guys at your opening!” The two resume their jog, taking in the scent of the ocean, the faint breeze on their faces, and many bikini-clad beach goers. They were now more than half way towards the bath house, and Lana was starting to feel the burn in her calves, as they’ve already hit the five mile marker. However, both women are still evenly paced, and neither is out of breath or complaining, as they are in excellent shape. “Sure. I can get together some dancers and have them perform during the Bards’ performance, and I’ll even dance during one of the songs…” There’s a moment of silence, before Lana continues, “Will there be food, as well? And I hope your elixir’s all work.”

Thalra put up her hands in mock surrender. "Hey Girl I just got here no more than four months ago, I am not even from Lithrydel, besides if you say they’re awesome, then I want them." Thalra resumed jogging, and as they moved closer to the bath house, trying to get her last bit of workout in, she thought she might see if Lana would be up for a race. "Will there be food? Oh I am trying to get every chuck wagon in Cenril there, but you know, I could really also use a cook with some class, since the many guests will likely be of the upper cut, especially if they are coming for what I advertised." She tried stepping up her speed a bit as she continued, "All but the exclusives are guaranteed to work, but exclusives won't be sold, they are decorum, they work were I come from, but here in Lithrydel different gods, different magic at work, they may not all be able to function. Let alone they are difficult to replicate. Hence their exclusiveness. I don't think I would part with them even for 300 K."

Lanara nods her head in agreement, as she would go and meet with Nick later today, so they could go over the details. “Perfect. We’ll be there on the day and time that you want. Just pen me a letter and we will work everything out. Also, I know a few good catering companies. I’d offer to get you Chef Gordyn, but after the scorpion ran off with the boar at the pig roast, we aren’t on speaking terms. But I’d recommend the staff at the Elimdorei Hotel in Vhys. They have truffles that are to die for!” She pauses, slowing her pace as they near the familiar locale, and before the doors, they’d do their final stretches and breathing exercises, as a mandatory slow down period. “Actually. I want to enjoy myself, so forget a performance. I’ll arrange the catering, the band, and several of my bard friends will come and visit. I’m sure there will be loads of dancing. Maybe I’ll even bring a date?” The two women exchange a smile as they arrived at their destination, about to head inside, peel off their sweaty workout clothes, and have a luxurious bubble bath. It was an excellent way to begin their week!
