Summary: The Larket banner is removed from the SoS HQ….and then Meri and Magik chat.

The Syndicate Grand Council Hall

You said to Magik, "I mean. It's much less fun if no one will try and stop me. Are you sure you won't humor me and pretend?"

Quintessa told your clan, "That Larket banner is outdated anyway- from the old kingdom. Who was Queen back then? Jacklin or something?"

Magik scoots his chair back and angles himself between Meri and the Larket banner to humor her, "Don't think this is symbolic of me defending Larket.." The elf folds his arms across his chest as he takes a step towards Meri, giving her just that much less space to work with. Oh. And there's a smirk.

Magik told your clan, "Jacklin was a dear friend of mine. She rose to power after I left for Sylo. She was a good egg."

Quintessa told your clan, "Perhaps then we should not destroy the banner, since it is a relic from her regime. Still, it should come down all the same."

Meri grins stupidly at Magik, partly because she is amused that he'd play along and partly because what she is about to do is very amusing to her. She assumes a fighting stance, fists up, except a very bad one. Sloppy form. Meri knows better. And just when it looks like she's about to swig at Magik? Well he's going to hear a rip from above and that Larket banner is going to fall and flop right over the elf. Psions.

Meri ripped it nicely though, because maybe Quintessa has some good points. Maybe.

Meri told your clan, "Hmmm."

Meri told your clan, "I won't say I agree, but maybe I do. Just pretend I still passionately hate everything Larket, m'kay?"

Magik mumbles something from under the banner. When it's pulled off he folds it nicely and lays it on the table, "I didn't know you could do that.."

Magik told your clan, "Welp. It's down. And folded."

Quintessa told your clan, "I just like collecting old things..."

Magik told your clan, "I'll put it in the armory."

Meri smirks at the mumbling. By the time that Magik is free, Meri's out of her ridiculously bad fighting stance and meandered over to where all the booze is at. Imagine. That. "To be fair. What do you really know about me? We're both learning."

Meri told your clan, "I'll behave myself and leave it in the armory...Promise."

Magik nods in agreement as he returns to his seat. He props his feet up, "Well besides you having a daughter, art skills, tattoos, a love for alcohol, and now that? Nothing much really. But if Tessa has taken a liking you to than you can't be too bad, right?" Magik studies her for a quick moment, "I guess the same can go for me as well.."

Meri points to all the booze after she locates the whiskey. She's looking at Magik while she's pointing. It's like she's asking if he wants anything, no rainbow beverages today. "I don't pretend to be anything but an annoying pain in the rear. But I guess the rest is true." If Magik wants a drink, great. He'll get it when Meri plops down into a nearby chair.

Magik gave the thumbs up when Meri pointed to the whiskey. Meri is obviously thanked when the time comes, "I haven't found you to be the least bit of annoying, so far.." The elf smirks before taking a swig of the whiskey, "What about me? Has Tessa told you any of my secrets?"

Meri smirks into her whiskey. The first answer Magik gets a bunch of sass, "Ah, well if Tessa did go telling me your secrets, then you're the last person I would tell. That would make me snitch. I hear they get stitches." The second is considerably more honest, "Naw. The only secret she told me about was this, but you know that." Meri motions vaguely to the Syndicate's headquarters. "Beyond that, I got your name. The rest as been between us." Curiosity of course gets the better of Meri, she smirks while asking, "Any secrets you feel like telling me?"

Magik feels like there is a lot of smirking going on. That's a good thing, right? Mutual sarcasm or having a sense of humor was always a plus..Between sips of his yum yum juice, he gestures to the room as well, "Besides this, I'm an open book. I have no secrets." There was another smirk. "Having said that, go ahead. I'll give you answers to two big questions tonight.."

Meri hopes the smirking is a good thing. It's probably preferable to other options, aye? Meri could be one of those sad girl drunks, breaking down into tears and sobbing over her divorce. Meri's not smirking at the exact moment though, she's thinking really hard and sipping at that whiskey while doing said thinking. It helps. Maybe. Probably not. "Alright. Fine. Well. Fair is fair. Two big questions for you..." Question. One. "What's with the smoke trick you do?"

Magik 's smirk fades, "Hm. No one has ever asked me about it. They just accept the fact that it's just something I can do.." His whiskey is put down and his hands fold on his lap, "I couldn't always do it. I accidentally did it when I was sick last year. I used to be a vampire but my bloodline no longer agreed with it. So, I would get these outbursts where I couldn't control my abilities while my blood fought the vampiric curse. Flames would lash out uncontrollably. Sometimes they would form thick tendrils and crack like whips..It was kind of scary. Anyways. I was walking through Kelay one night and I had an outburst. I fell to the ground in pain and all of a sudden, I felt weightless. It only lasted for a few seconds. I thought maybe I was passing out for that time. I eventually learned that meditation would help my outbursts. After hours of practicing suppressing the sickness I was able to focus on that weightless feeling and change to the black smoke at will. It was scary at first. I struggled to materialize back to normal a couple times. Ever since I learned to control it, it's come in handy more than a few occasions."

Meri :: There is still no smirk, but it's not a bad thing. Meri's looking intrigued and studying Magik in silence while he explains. This. Was not the answer she was expecting. Prior to Magik's answer she had more of a light-hearted question kicking around in her brain. "So. You were a vampire, but you're not...anymore?" Did that one count? It better not. She's confirming understanding. Big question number two is actually going to be, "So it was the Lyastri bloodline that didn't agree then?"

Magik shakes his head, "Nope. No more vampirism. It was, uh, quite the journey." Should he mention the part where he almost blew up Kelay? Or how there's a small glass field in the desert now because of his final purge? Maybe next time. To answer Meri's second question that he would probably consider that a part of question one he adds, "Judging by the amount of fire and heat I was putting off while I was sick, it was definitely not the Lyastri side. It was all D'Chath blood that put up the fight." Hell, even Mahri had a role during the sickness. What a ride it was.

Meri :: For a change, Meri is silent and actually serious. The tattooed blonde continues to stare at Magik, trying to process everything he just told her. Lyastri. D'Chath. It was probably only making Meri more curious. Good job, Magik. But she curbs her question and finally says, "Well that's definitely quite the secret you decided to share."

Magik lightly smiles, "I guess so." Once again, he brings the whiskey to his lips for a small pull, "My turn.." He points to the folded Larket banner, "How'd you do that? Did you learn it? Natural ability..? Perhaps a little bit of both somehow?"

Meri starts holding up her fingers and counting when Magik hits her with that series of questions. Four questions. She wiggles those four fingers, but Meri is just being cheeky. "The sincere answer to most of those questions is...I don't know. I've never quite met anyone else like me? A psion." As Meri speaks, Magik may or may not notice that both of their chairs start to levitate off the ground a few inches. It might be hard for him to not notice, given his feet are (or were) propped up. "It's not a spell, I guess." At least so far as that it has been explained to Meri, but she's already admitted she's not really studied. "I have learned that it all works a lot better when I am not totally drunk, but I've also learned that sobriety is kind of boring. Just warn me when you think you'll need me to have a relatively clear head." Both chairs are back on the ground by the time Meri is done talking.

Magik | There aren’t many things that catch Magik off guard these days. However, this was one of them. As Meri explains and lifts his chair, the grip on the whiskey tightens and his free hand grips the arm of the chair tightly. His focus remains on the blonde as she explains, even when his chair is grounded again. He's thoroughly impressed, "This..this can definitely be useful should the need ever arise." The Lyastri then shifts his focus to any visible tattoos, "And your body art..Your own designs?"

Meri spends about a fraction of a second trying to think of how to better articulate the scope of her abilities....but the quest is abandoned. She nods to Magik in agreement, it tends to be useful. The question of her tattoos is met with a smile, always a good topic to get Meri going on. "Yes, and no. They're my concepts and I might have tweaked the designs here and there, but it's fun getting work from other artists. I like to look at work that's not my own too." Which is in part why Meri's gallery also hosts work from other artists. The blonde rises from her seat, only cleaning up her half of the whiskey mess this time around. "I'm curious to know if you've got tattoos. But. Two questions. I guess I'll have to save it for next time." There is that smirk again. "Maybe next time I will actually be at your place. But. For now? I need to go back to my own and pretend I am a responsible mother or something." She's definitely not the worst. Not like she'd sell her daughter off to anyone...that much is clear. Meri's sure to give one of Magik's elven ears a nice little flick before she's out the door.

Magik was about to roll up his sleeve to show Meri his tattoo, but, yes, next time. And at the treehouse. He starts cleaning up his mess as well after the ear flick, "Yeah, I need to make sure my students haven't burned down the place. I'll see ya later, Meri."
