Rusilan makes the courier wait for a reply while she writes a highly legible note on the back of a tattered copy, of a copy of a treatise on medical herbs.

Dear Thane Josleen,

I would be delighted to meet with you [date time ] at the tavern. I hope to stand you to a drink.

May your travel be blessed by all the Goddesses.

Sencerly Rusilan Katic Kicirta Vear'tos.

Frostmaw Tavern

Josleen sits at a table near the fireplace on the appointed date and time. She reads over her notes in a journal, and jots down a few more. The title of Thane hasn't affected her style. The bard still prefers floral prints and colorful dresses, and when in Frostmaw, swaddling herself in too many layers. The waitress asks if Josleen needs anything else. She asks to refill the mead, please, served warm. The Thane arrived early to tackle some paperwork before Rusilan arrived. Or perhaps, better said, to create paperwork. The giants don't like to creae written records, but Josleen finds that tabulating inventory for the clinic is simply a must.

Rusilan walks in with a pack slung over one shoulder and a bow over the other the sparks of healing magic glittering and flowing through her fur. She waves to the bar keep before moving to Josleen's table. " Thane Josleen it is good of you to meet with me." Having greeted Josleen Rusilan sets her pack on a chair and her bow atop it before setting in one of the two remaining chairs.

Josleen closes her journal when Rusilan arrives at the table and looks up with a cordial smile. "Rusilan, well met. I believe I caught glimpse of you in the battlefield once, but have not had the pleasure to meet you in peacetime. Would you like anything to drink?" She looks for a waitress as she asks.

Rusilan purrs as the waitress sets down her usual winter berry juice. "I saw you as well. I was more with the fighting than healing group. How is your leg?" Looks worried. " I could have grouped with the healers but at the time I judged myself better suited to fighting with a touch of healing know and the. In a situation with so many hurt I believe it is best to work with non magical healer as much as possible lest the healers exhaust there resources before the job is done. "

Josleen has almost forgotten about her leg. With everything happening in Larket, and Frostmaw too, the immediate crowds out the past in the competition for her attention. She reflexively contracts and releases her thigh muscles. "My leg has recovered, thank you." Pause. "So, tell me about yourself. Are you a magic healer, or non magical? Where did you train?" She sips her warm honey beer and listens.

Rusilan sips her juice her ears twitching as she gazes at the fire. " Now those are complicated questions. I was a fully trained physic and surgeon in my home realm without a speck of magic tho I had seen it used both wisely and foolishly. But there just wasn't that much around and it was weak. I had just started my journey years, and hired a mage to do a transport spell to get me to another island where they had an outbreak of wolfpocks. He fumbled the spell and dumped me across realms. I can only view that as the Goddesses will made manifest as he was not that powerful and when I arrived healing magic stirred within me. I have been studying the herbs and sickness of Hollow. But I still have my surgeons skills and the magic is training me well. "

Josleen nods where appropriate to let Rusilan know she is listening. "Wolfpox? I've not yet seen an outbreak here. Most of the healers in the local clinic are either trained giant shamans or elves. The elves use the natural magic you would expect. They are quite gifted. The shamans wield no power of their own, but have learned to manipulate the properties found in plants and animals. Like alchemists, in a way. Many plants and animals have their own magical properties, and the shamans have learned to wield that." She eyes Rusilan's bow. "Are you a ranger?"

Rusilan flicks an ear. " no actuality rangers have some military training I do not. I am a huntress of some skill. "

Josleen lifts a hand as if to say 'tomato, tomahto'. "But you are familiar with the forest, yes? I have need of those skilled in forestry to locate some rare herbs. Have you met the Ranger Orikahn?" The way she speaks the sabercat's name suggests there is no love lost there.

Rusilan shakes her head. " I know forestry but not the herbs of hollow. As for the ranger no I have not met him yet." Shrugs " that being said I with a good drawing and disruption I may be able to find it. Not likely seeing as I don't know where it likes to grow and what companion plants it likes."

Josleen finishes her mead as the gears in her head turn. "It seems there's an opportunity here for you to teach the local healers in your foreign technqiues in healing, and for the local healers to teach you of local herbs. You may also benefit from visiting the wilds on an expedition with Orikahn. He knows the local flora and fauna well. He heads the local ranger's guild, which by the way, in these lands, do not require military training. It may be different in your homeland." She pauses thoughtfully then adds, "Seek out Pilar too. You can often find her in the clinic or the fort. She is learning the local healing methods. You may be able to join her lessons."

Rusilan nods. "I am also worried by the profligate use of healing magic I am seeing among the local healers. In times of crisis I needs to manage there resources wisely. An apprentice healer can boost hundreds of potions or heal one maybe two people. While the river of life as boundless the strength of the healers is not. That healers here seam to forget that worries me greatly. "

Josleen shrugs like she is sympathetic to Rusilan's argument, but unable to see a solution. "The elves have their ways which are older than the history of man. It's difficult to convince them to behave otherwise. But, if you are so concerned, perhaps you could reach out to Sabrina? She is an elf and the leader of these land's healer's guild. She runs a healing house in Larket called House of Ara. Here." Josleen opens her notebook and writes down Sabrina's name and directions to House of Ara. She rips out the sheet and hands it to Rusilan. "Perhaps you'll find a willing audience in her. I find her to be reasonable."

Rusilan snorts a laugh "that female reasonable we are talking about the same being who holds teaching in the healing arts hostage and refuses them to any unwilling or unable to pledge themselves to her small minded ideas about. Healing, and life with no room for a world filled with shades of grey. Considering she has to feed off those around her she really has no room to judge." Pins her ears flat in distaste. " I can work with her if I must but we do not like each other. To much alike and different when it gets down to basics."

Josleen's lips purse as Rusilan insults Sabrina. Her gaze sweeps around the tavern furtively to see if anyone else is listening. "Ma'am, I would be remiss if I didn't inform you that Sabrina donated many healing supplies to the war effort during a time of crisis. She is considered a friend to the crown, and in Larket she is councilmember. You are free to have professional disagreements with her, but when speaking of her it would be good to remember who her friends are, and they are numerous, including myself." The bard bows her head diplomatically, hoping Rusilan needs no further reprimand than that. "You do not need to work with her. Though I am curious as to what experience has soured your opinion of her. What happened?"

Rusilan lays her hands palm up on the table before her and after a moment sparks of healing magic gather in one and in the other dark swirling fog. " what happened I asked her for help and she ignored me so I found someone willing to let me learn in exchange for gold. She heard about it and when I asked again she made it clear that even though I have both sides of the gift just as she does. She not only would not teach me she thought me contemptible for learning. When I would not submit my self to her guild she made it clear that no teaching would be allowed until I did. After I told her I would not be a slave to her or her guild she stormed off." Shakes her hands the sparks flow away to settle into her fur and the fog winking out. " are we not lucky that I learn easily and the magic is so willing to show me what I can do and how. "

Josleen doesn't fully grasp the details of this story, but doesn't press for clarification. Rusilan's tone is enough. "Very well. You do not need to reach out to Sabrina or the Guild. The local clinic here could use what you know. Like I said, reach out to Pilar. I commute between Frostmaw and Larket often. Also, Orikahn, the local ranger, is gathering herbs. Perhaps you can join his expedition into the wilds."

Rusilan nods her ears slowly relaxing. " I will be happy to work with eat her of them. An more than happy to help at the clinic. " Sighs softly. "I also have experience with cubs have rased my siblings. But I won't babysit. "

Josleen smiles politely at Rusilan's comment regarding cubs. "Then it's settled then. You'll accompany Orikahn into the wilds to collect needed supplies for the clinic, and visit with Pilar to teach eachother your different healing methods. I hate to rush this pleasant meeting, but I have to be somewhere soon. Is there anything else?"

Rusilan shakes her head purring gently. " thank you for your time I will looks for Pilar and Orikahn. If you will drop them a note by way of interduction I would appreciate it. "
