Summary

Aaken is frostmaw, trying to buy a wyvern mount, for the Eyrie competition. Along comes Alvina, who assists in helping him pick out his choice of Wyvern.

RP:

Aaken was cold, he shivered in the frosty city, he wondered to himself, "Are other Naga this cold or is it just me?" He was looking for a wyvern, but had been turned away by the Eyrie ones because they laughed off the idea of a Naga flyer. But the man selling here was eager and he had a large variety including one that had fur all over her, and of light grey, with yellow eyes, she was of course massive, largest one there, but he'd keep looking.

Alvina moved through the light snow as it fell, adding to the already snowy pathways around town. Her hair is pulled back in a high ponytail, her eyes in a book of her own making. The pages are uneven and her pace is slowly and clumsy. She manages to weave her way into the market before she runs into a stranger. After apologizing to the avian, for the third time, she took stock of her surroundings and spotted Aaken looking at wyverns from a regular traveling salesmen. She doesn't approach him, because Nagas still give her an uneasy feeling in the pit of her stomach, but she won't ignore him if he spots her and says hello.

Aaken is middle of discussing what good stock, when a couple of small wyvern hatchings break loose. As helping the salesman, he slithered as fast he could to catch the wyvern, one of them scampering over to Alvina, which when he caught up with it he saw her. "Well hi, long time no see." He said his voice still has light as the last time, but his size, gods had he grown? 15' tall 18' long no longer 2' in diameter coils now 3 1/2'. Yet his eyes so much kindness inside them and the scarf ever present. He bends his long neck down. "What you reading?" he asks after she talks and reply.

Alvina doesn't flinch away from the wyverns coming her way, but Aaken reaches them first and Alvina holds her book tightly. "Long time no see," She repeats back with uncertainty. Did she really know that? Nagas could shift after all! Maybe she had seen him but not recognized him. "I'm reading a report on some custom weapons that I've been drafting. It's not finished but I want to remember a lot of the progress notes so I don't make the same mistake on the next project..." She points to the wyvern hatchlings. "W-what are you doing?"

Aaken might not of taken notice of her facial change or her body language but her tone, and sudden stammer, made him realize he was in her space and needed to give her some room. He moved back some, like a worm, rather than like a naga slither, an oddity surely. He makes a smile to try to comfort her, "oh I wanting to particpate in the eyrie competion, i know a naga rider, probably silliest thing there ever was, but, i love flying, and well i wanted wyvern to be able to compete. So i am buying from this vendor. He said handing one, two, three and four back to the man. Who was grateful. "But i can't decide what right for me, can you help?"

Alvina looked around, feeling better to have her space back. "I don't know much about wvyern's..." She admitted, watching him give the escaped hatchlings back to the salesman before asking for her help. "I don't think a naga rider sounds silly. I've heard naga envy Avians for their wings. At least, that's what Jaize told me." After a moment of thought, Alvina nods carefully to agree. "Which one are you thinking about?"

Aaken listened noting her voice returning to normal, obviously she was terrified of him, which made him sad. But he he tried hard not to show it, emotional another thing naga were not and he was. Another oddity, his eyes said it. "Well I had been about to take a look at the seven large ones when the hatchlings came out. "You mind helping me, i've never been a good person at picking, i kinda get caught up in physical appearances."

Alvina didn't know what qualities he was looking for. Would it need to be strong, since he was so large? Probably. Also it would have to fly well, if he wanted to be a flyer of some sort in the air show. "Have you ever handled a wyvern before?" She asked, looking in the distance to try and decide which of the wvyerns' hed' already looked at.

Aaken looked toward the wyverns, the store keeper waved a no at three of them, before calling them over to take a look at the other three. The first one was a dull red with soft skin rather than scales, large enough good wingspan, but Aaken could see a glow building in the Wyvern's throat and Alvina was in the way so he would pull her aside suddenly with his tail before the wyvern's fire could touch her. "I think i'll skip hot headed."

Alvina moves forward to look at the wyverns, gasping slightly when Aaken pulled her out of the way of its tail. She hadn't seen it but puts it together once she is safe. The next wyvern is blue, speckled with white spots that look like snowflakes. Each pattern is a little different, but he seems lazy, snorting a flurry of snow in their direction. Alvina steps in front of Aaken, getting the harmless snow on her cloak instead of his scarf. "Maybe this one is a bad idea too..." She suggests.

Aaken seemed likely to agree, and smiled that she stepped to block it, frankly at this point he was having trouble staying warm and that blast of fire had only helped a little. The final one was massive, its snout was half as long as Aaken, and wide enough to swallow him whole. "A question, is it normal for wyvern to get this big?" He asked the keeper. "You know funny thing about that, i breeded this one with a furred drake, or at least thats what one land called them, and well i never seen any this big, nor a diet as weird, i swear the only veggie eating dragon i know of." The keeper said scratching his head. This wyvern was massive, with thick light grey fur, and large yellow eyes, fur every where like a wolf, but also like a dragon with a huge wingspan. "The last one i sold, was a natural flyer, this ones from the same litter."

Alvina shook snow from her hair and cloak, watching while Aaken talked to the Keeper about the last wvyern. Seems they had narrowed it down to this one. "A natural?" She said softly, thinking this over before turning to Aaken. "I guess this one is perfect for you? What do you think?" The wyvern spread out it's wings as if to show off for them and Alvina chuckled below her breath. "Seems he wants to go home with you too."

Aaken smiled looking at the wyvern. The keeper replied, "a she actually," aaken put his hand on the furred snout, immediately the wyvern gave him a lick that nearly lifted him off the ground. In response he gave it a lick which soon became ended with a nuzzling. "I'll take her, thank Alvina for helping." He smiled for a second, only to to be licked up into the wyvern's mouth and then lowered back down. "I am going to call you Mysha."

Alvina flinched with the error. A she, not a he. Of course. When Aaken and Mysha exchanged licks, Alvina looked on with mild discomfort. It wasn't that different than Aria licking her...but Alvina had never licked her back. Different strokes, she assumed with a silent shrug. "It's - no problem. I didn't do much?" She offered after Aaken thanks her. "Why Mysha?" she asked, wondering if the name held some significance to him.

Aaken| "Mysha, was the name close friend of mine," he said touching patting the wyvern's snout, "maybe my first crush, but um, she passed away after poorly wording a spell." His face remembering, her, "kinda hard to let go the people you love, so one thinks that a passing of name keeps the person living."

Alvina understood the sentiment. "People that are gone stay with us, in the memories we keep and ways we honor them." She only knew of her mother that had passed away. Various faces and names had come and gone in her life time but died? She can't say she knew the feeling too well. She'd been lucky to endure life without that hardship. "A fitting tribute." She says, with a nod. "I'm sure she's greatful for your affections." Alvina pointed towards the wyvern, happy to be receiving his pats.

Aaken replied with a smile, "Thank you," he wanted to hug the human but from the way she had reacted in the past he knew he needed to wait till she grew comfortable around him. "Hey um, do you know of a place here an frostmaw that doesn't board with discrimination? I am kinda looking to spend the night here and get warm, before leaving." Mysha behind him gave him a lick, as he handed the dealer a bag of coins, who took it happily. "Word of warning, she eats trees."

Alvina blinked at the wyvern. Trees? She laughed nervously. "The Fort offers board to all." Hadn't Alvina heard rumors of other naga being seen in the area sometimes? Surely they were accepted here just like all others. Even if the Eyrie had turned him away, which she couldn't imagine, the Frostmaw fort would board him and his giant companion.

"Thanks, see ya around alvina, hopefully sooner than later, your a great friend." He said with a smile and tried to lead Mysha toward the west to the fort.
