Summary: If only Meri would learn how to make sushi for Magik….

The Rebel Room

Meri might swoon, maybe. Just a little bit, or a lot, and she's pretending like she's not. Whatever. Magik knows the truth. "See? And that's how you convince a gal that maybe she ought to learn how to make sushi."

Magik takes a deep breath and thinks on that statement for a moment. Whichever room they are in, he takes a step back and collapses onto a chair. He covers his hands with his face but spaces his fingers out so he can peak through. His voice is muffled but it sounds like he said something like, "I would marry you on the spot."

Meri :: We'll just say that they are in Meri's living room and that Magik just fell back onto one of Meri's cushioned armchairs. Magik's voice might be muffled, but there are some perks to being a lycan. Meri's just going to deal with that bold assertion with jokes. "Are you sure? On the spot? You might want to at least think about tasting the sushi first. What if it the absolute worst you've ever had?"

Magik chuckles behind his hands before putting them down to reveal a smile, "Well. Of course. Then again. There would be room for improvement. I believe in you."

Meri :: Would Magik ever find Meri in the kitchen preparing sushi for him? Hm. Mysteries. For now, he's just going to have to settle with her finding her way into his lap. "Room for improvement." Meri repeats with a smirk, "You believe in me. I don't know, Magik. You might want to set that bar just a little bit lower. I would hate to disappoint."

Magik could have said a bunch of things just now to take a couple jabs but he's going to play nice today. Instead he simply says, "Well, so far so good..I'd also settle for a sushi bowl." He winks. That's not too hard to make, right? It shouldn't be.

Meri :: There are times that Magik doesn't play nice with Meri? The blonde would honestly beg to differ, but this topic is not on her radar. Meri is a little bit to preoccupied with giving Magik a bit of side-eye because sushi bowls definitely sound a lot easier to make. Meri opens her mouth to say something but whatever was about to fly past her red lips is rethought completely. The subject is changed completely. "Do you ever miss being a vampire? If there wasn't the whole issue with your blood not agreeing with it, would you go back? Or do you like being...mmmm....Alive more?"

Magik doesn't hesitate at all, "I don't miss it. At all. Not even close. I couldn't eat real food. All I could drink was blood wine if I didn't feel like feeding properly." He then flashes his regular canines, "The sharp teeth got annoying, to be honest."

Meri doesn't seem to hold judgment for Magik's answer, she's honestly pretty set on just trying to learn as much about the elf as she can. She presses her hand flat against his while they chat, palm to palm, observing the size difference. "Yeah? Bite your tongue a lot on accident, did you?" Meri smirks. "I don't think I would want to go back to being human. The perks outweigh the cons, I guess? Especially if Mahri can help me out..."

Magik laughs, "Yes, actually. Especially the first couple months. It was definitely hard trying to adjust." Magik takes Meri's hand in his as he tilts his head a bit, "What type of perks do you have? Increased smell, I'm assuming? What else?" The elf was genuinely curious about this. Even though Mahri and him went way back, he never asked her these types of questions.

Meri smirks at the imagery that this explanation brings to her mind. Magik biting his tongue at random the first few months of being a vampire. "Increased sense of smell?" Meri chuckles. "Is an understatement. What you had for breakfast. If you took a shower. Did you brush your teeth?" Meri has a dork moment and makes a dramatic show of trying to sniff at Magik. "Except I don't even need to be this close to tell. Whispering in front of me is pointless. I hear it. But my favorite is when I do something dumb and get myself hurt? I heal up all the quicker."

Magik wrinkles his nose at Meri playfully, "Noted. Damn. It'll be hard keeping some surprises from you then.." Surprises? You know. Flowers. Food gifts. Etc. Magik did lick Meri's cheek when she leaned in, by the way. "And the only con is the uncontrollable wolf?"

Meri chuckles when Magik licks her cheek. This is fine. But then she is eyeing Magik when he starts talking about surprises. "Shoot, just how many more surprises do you have up your sleeve? I'm already feeling pretty damn spoiled, babe. I demand, you deliver." Example: sushi date. The subject shifts back to her wolf, "In my view, sure. That doesn't mean everyone will agree with my take. There are plenty who might have a harsher take." Vampires. Werewolves. Both had a negative reputation. "Suppose you could add the silver allergy to the list of cons too."

Magik playfully shrugs, "That's just me being me, love.." He also understood the racism all too well with his time being undead, "I definitely understand the hateful look of strangers. You'd think people would be used to it by now.." Magik then snickers, "So no silver ring for you? Noted as well." Plus, silver is cheap. Meri deserves better than that.

Meri was working hard at trying to not read too much into these things Magik has been saying, but he's making it challenging. First these jokes about marrying her on the spot, and now he's just talking like a pirate while also commenting about rings? Aye. The normally quick-witted blonde that is in his lap has absolutely no intelligent response. She might even look a little flushed. "I...what?"

Magik blinks, "What? Ya know..for a future surprise and such. Gifts.." He threw her off her game. Score. Magik arches his brow though. "What?" Inside, he's snickering.

Meri :: Thrown off her game might be a bit of an understatement. Is Meri even going to be able to find her way back to her game? Not right away, she's still trying to process Magik's antics. Meri makes a cross-eyed expression, "What. Are. You." The woman huffs, "What happened to the step where I just start bringing my things over to your place and redecorating everything without your permission?" Or did she get permission when Magik offered to put in a playroom for Fleur?

Magik blinks again then settles back in his seat. "Oh. I mean. If you want to slow down.." There was a certain twinkle in his eye. He wasn't really going to propose or anything like that anytime soon, but it has been fun poking around the idea. Also, yes, the playroom bit was pretty much the permission but he wouldn't say it.

Meri :: Laugh it up, Magik. Enjoy watching Meri fumble around over all these emotional things, at least she doesn’t try and pretend that she’s intelligent in this area. Apparently Meri doesn’t quite like the idea of slowing down either because that suggestion has Meri going wide-eyed and shaking her head, and that reaction comes without hesitation. Women sometimes. “No, I didn’t mean that I wanted us to slow down either. We’re good? We’re both happy?” Meri makes a cross-eyed expression at Magik, as she painfully aware she’s floundering right now.

Magik boops Meri's nose to try to correct her current cross eyed ailment. With a smile, he nods, "Yeah. We're good. I'm definitely happy." It was actually weird for Magik to feel like this given his last relationship. Yikes. He does go serious for a quick moment though, "But if there's anything I say or do that makes you uncomfortable or uneasy, just let me know." The elf then leans off of the back rest of the chair to plant a kiss to Meri's lips. "Yeah..Definitely happy."

Meri smirks when her nose is booped, it works well enough to correct her current affliction. Meri is given a quick smooch to the lips, which Meri returns before she slides out of Magik’s lap. She’ll be back though, she’s just stepping away to grab a beer for Magik and tumbler of whiskey for herself. It might help, since they’re bordering on one of those more serious talks. The beer is given to Magik, “I mean if you want to get to the heart and the truth of the matter.” She plants herself on the arm of the chair Magik is in rather than back into his lap. “I’m happy. Like stupid happy? To the point it’s starting to scare me a bit? Because I’m good at messing things up so…” Cue a shrug. “I’m kind of surprised I haven’t driven you up the wall yet? I swear Callum was mad at me for probably half of our relationship.” The blonde eyes Magik, cracking a bad joke because she can only talk about the feels for so long. Poor thing. Soor Mag. “Hurry up and get mad at me or something, maybe I’ll feel less nervous.”

Magik obviously thanked Meri for the beer. He holds off on drinking it though. As Meri returns to the arm of the chair, he twists to better face her. Her words were heard carefully as he finally takes a few sips of his drink, "The only thing I can assure you is that my intentions are pure, babe. Especially with you having a little one. I'm not here to cause any unnecessary stress.." Drive off this Lyastri? Her comment is replied with a, "Have you met my ex, Rinn?", behind the beer bottle. The comment about Callum had him raising a brow. What a ridiculous thing for someone to do. Sounds like a huge waste of energy that could have been focused on something else. Anyways. The Lyastri smiles and lays a hand on Meri's leg while looking up at her, "This is just as scary for me. Let's just be scared together..? If that makes sense." For once, Magik didn't have to go meditate after every interaction with Meri. The same could not be said for his nights with Rinn. What a stressful and abusive person..

Meri :: There is a smile that comes and goes while Magik talks, depending on what is being said. When he brings up Fleur? Smile. The moments when it fades, it is not due to discomfort. She’s just giving the man her attention during what is one of their more serious chats. Mention of Rinn is given a bit of a shrug, “I’ve met her, but I wouldn’t say I know her.” The hand that Magik just placed on her leg is taken within her own and lifted so that she can press a kiss to his knuckles. The hand is set back on her leg, except Meri’s not letting go of Magik’s limb this time. It’s hers for just a bit longer. The gesture was meant to be a nonverbal agreement, they could definitely be scared together. The conversation remains on Rinn. It’d be one of the rare times that Meri actually attempts to get Magik talking about this. “Is there anything about that past relationship with Rinn you feel like talking about? You don’t have to. Exes are not exactly a fun subject to hit on.”

Magik looked deep into Meri's eyes as she took his hand and held onto it. Everything seemed right in the world for once. That is until she asked about Rinn. His serious tone broke and he laughed. There was no other way to put it besides, "Lesson learned is all I can think of. A terrible lesson learned." Hell, Rinn wasn't even the big ex. Mirshann's mother is. He laughs again before taking another sip of his beer, "Just..Yeah. That's all." There wasn't much to say really. Mag and Rinn shouldn't have been together to begin with. They were way too opposite. Lesson learned, for sure.

Meri :: Well that was certainly a reaction, and one that has Meri lifting a brow. There was a brief moment were Meri was wondering how Rinn managed to earn herself this reaction. But. Honestly Rinn was not exactly top priority in Meri’s mind, the blonde probably wouldn’t have even gone there if Magik hadn’t named her first. The tumbler of whiskey Meri poured for herself is emptied and the glass just floats back off to the kitchen area. The blonde stands up off the arm of her chair but she doesn’t release her hold on Magik’s hand, she’s trying to pull him with her. “Her loss. My gain. How about a change of scenery. Have you seen the rooftop yet? Or.” Meri’s just going to slide back into goofy mode, “I have this pretty comfortable bed if I do say so myself. We could just spend the rest of the night making out like a couple of teenagers.” Meri’s just going to steal a certain signature brow wiggle here.

Magik stands with Meri and thinks for a moment. Both sound very intriguing but a decision has to be made. And he has an idea. "I..didn't know there was rooftop access, to be honest..Will you be my tour guide?"

Meri leads the way, without hesitation. “Ah, well, we talk a lot but it just goes to show that we’ve probably still got plenty to learn about each other. Don’t worry. Give me enough time and I will be an expert oin everything Magik.” Access to rooftop wouldn’t be gained directly through Meri’s flat. They’d have to take a short little trek through the gallery, through a door, and then up some stairs before they actually end up on the roof of Meri’s shop. So what’s up on the rooftop? Mostly a cozy little sitting/smoking area, positioned to face the ocean, for the nice views obviously.

Magik happily followed Meri as she led them to the rooftop, hand in hand, "And like I said, I'm an open book, babe. For you at least." Ah! As they find themselves on the roof, Magik takes the scene in with the tattooed blonde. He stares out to the ocean before turning to Meri, holding her hands in his. His fiery eyes fizzle out to reveal his natural blues, "Do you trust me?"

Meri :: For like a split second Meri was going to let go on Magik’s hand so that she could go through the motions of finding her rolled smokes and lighting up. It was really half the reason she suggested coming up here. Sure, she’s not one to be opposed to smoking indoors. Her child hates the smell though. It doesn’t matter though. Magik distracts Meri with this question, “Of course I do.” It’s not a lie, even if Meri doesn’t sound confident. She just has this suspicion she knows what is going to happen next….

Magik grins then steps towards Meri to grab her waist, pulling her close. He calmly whispers, "Don't let go." As he whispers, his familiar black smoke surrounds the couple. Normally he would have shot straight up into the air, but he took Meri's feelings into consideration. Slowly, they start floating up into the air about 20ft above the rooftop. As they hover, he slowly spins them in a circle to get Meri a full view of the whole continent. As they face southwest, Magik chuckles quietly. "Did you see that quick flare? The kiddos are out practicing.." True West, Magik gets quiet for a second and he spots the Mage's Tower.

Meri was not about to let go. And ascending slowly up into the air was definitely the way to go, unless Magik wanted to hear Meri squeak...or maybe even scream...out of fear. Whatever the noise, it’s not one she makes often. Slow helps, but for full duration of the ascent Meri doesn’t even have her eyes open. Did Meri see that flash? Nope. She doesn’t actually open her own blue eyes until Magik points out this detail. Now she’s looking, a bit nervously, but she’s looking. If Magik keeps her up there long enough, she’ll relax. He’ll probably be able to tell when she’s feeling slightly less stressed over the situation, given that he’s got a hold on her. “You’ll get it back,” Meri says about the tower, picking up on the way Magik gets quiet when he looks at the tower. “And when you do, I’ll come out to visit you there.” Maybe she’ll surprise him with lunch between lessons. “I promise I’ll behave myself in front of your students.”

Magik remains quiet for a moment as he stares at the tower. There's that fire in his eyes again. Meri's words are encouraging though. He looks at her and nods, "It's going to be one hell of a fight but we will get it back.." As they slowly descent back to the rooftop he smiles at Meri's offer, "I would really like that..As soon as it's all cleaned up after the inevitable chaos that's going to rip through that building." Finally back on the roof, Magik looks to the shore once again then back to Meri, "I was going to ask why you chose Cenril, but I get it now.."

Meri might have been content to remain right there in Magik’s arms even after they are back on the rooftop, but they are getting into another subject that Meri’s just going to have to get more serious about. First the easy part, “Prime location, a different spot in the city wouldn’t cut it.” And then the topic that has her turning and facing Magik so that she can look him right in the eyes, “Look, I know you already said you’d prefer I stay out of it. And I’ll be a good girlfriend -this time- and listen.” Sorry Magik, Meri isn’t really the sit on the sidelines sort of gal normally. “But you’ll at least tell me before you run off to this fight, I hope? You know, so I can fret and worry until you actually drag your rear back home?” Or try and find him if he doesn’t.

Magik slightly smiles as he looks into Meri's eyes. To say he wasn't worried about returning to the tower to reclaim it would be a huge lie. He doesn't break eye contact with her as he makes a promise, "I swear I will let you know and I -will- come back home to you." He might be battered and bruised but he will come home. "Plus, I have two more reasons to fight.." He slowly shakes his head but the comical tone is obvious, "I swear, if they ruined the meditation center..I don't even know what I would do." Full on rage mode is what he'll end up doing. Complete blood lust and full loss of control. The poor OO won't know what happened after he blows the tower sky high. The guild can always relocate, right? They practically have temporarily..

Meri smiles at this promise, but in a half-hearted sort of way. There are a lot of words that could be used to describe Magik and Meri, knuckleheads, goofs, stubborn pain in the rears. Foolish is not one of them and both individuals on the rooftop knew that this fight was not going to be easily won. That didn’t mean that Meri wasn’t going to try and do her best to be optimistic. “They won’t. Because you’re going to show up and reclaim your space.” Meri tries to force ths smile wider. “We’ve got plans. How am I supposed to embarrass you in front of your students if there is no mediation center?” Didn’t she just promise that she’d behave? Well that was no lie, Meri’s just trying to be upbeat and humorous on the surface, even if both were concerned.

Magik nods at Meri's words of encouragement. He can do this. He will do this. Meri's support alone has the Lyastri feeling better and better about the situation. It's actually quite opposite of a certain ex's view on the whole thing. More brownie points for Meri. Lots of them. Speaking of students, he randomly asks, "Do you ever host classes downstairs?"

Meri :: Yes, Magik. You can, you will, you better. Meri’s got little choice but to be positive in this situation, why throw all that negative energy at Magik? He already had enough to worry about, Meri knew this. “I used to. A story for another night, maybe? It’s late, warmer inside than on the roof, and I’d kind of just like to…” Meri rolls her eyes at herself because god, what a sap. Dammit Magik. “Maybe just cuddle up and pass out?” Plus that story would have her talking about Larket, we all know how much Meri hates Larket.

Magik chuckles, "Yeah. Let's do that. I'll warm ya up, baby.." He winks. Like a total dork. He then gestures to the way they came to the rooftop, "After you, beautiful."

Meri smirks and then proceeds to make jokes all the way inside. Oh you’re going to warm me up? Yeah, I’ve heard the best way to get warm is….Sorry Magik. Welcome to your life. Ah well, she still seems to be managing to score herself brownie points while being just a little bit crazy. The two spend the rest of their night hanging out.
