RP:Mood Whiplash

From HollowWiki

Kreekitaka receives a visit from Ameno, and they have some very pleasant conversation right up until the thing happens. You'll know it when you see it.

The RP!

Kreekitaka was still very much in his healing tank. The crabman had deemed it necessary to come to Larket, however, so once more his tank had been lifted up and mounted to an edmontonia, which was then escorted up the road and into the city. Currently, he was parked just underneath his shop, speaking with his bodyguards about going to see the queen about a certain matter. The conversation was in uyeer, and therefore involved a lot of loud, rhythmic clacking noises which could be overheard from a distance.

Ameno trudged his way up the road towards kreekitaka's shop he had in his knapsack salmon caviar, and also a couple of live fish, in a jar. He had heard his friend had suffered from a serious injury and thought that he could cheer him up by bringing food. It had only been 48 hours ago when he was successfully healed by the Frostmaw doctors, and now he was back into the world. But he wasn't entirely the same, discovering much of his past were fabricated memories that had been made by him to cope with the real miserable memories of his childhood, because of this he didn't wear his typical blue garmets, instead he wore brown pants and a white shirt. Simple without any elegance. As he trudged up the path he spotted kree in the tank. He said to the uyeer as he approached, "Dang, you look as bad as I felt a two days ago, now I think of my own injuries as minor."

Kreekitaka looked plum awful. Broken paddles, mangled limbs, cracks in his carapace held together with duct tape. Also, he couldn't hear anything outside his tank, and as Ameno approached he was smoothly intercepted by a representative. "If you've business wi' my king, I speak for you an' for him. He canno' hear you." The go-between moved into position between Kree and Ameno, and spoke to Kree--performing a dance which most likely was a decent representation of what Ameno was saying. Kree gestured back with his tentacles. "He says, 'I was unaware of your own injuries, frien'. Forgive my ignorance.'"

Ameno looked to the other uyeer. "Okay, so just asking here to particularly the designer of the glass, have you thought of adding a metal pipe that goes in up and down into the tank? The pressure of the air and water would keep the water from coming out but allow somone to directly talk through?" He paused, then apologized, "sorry brain running at pixie flight speed, I have here for your king some salmon caviar, and also some live fish, as i thought some food would be nice."

Neither Kreekitaka, nor the representative, was the designer of the tank, nor was it made of glass--rather, it was a transparent leather material. "I... can offer some a'vice when I see him again, I suppose," said the uyeer with a shrug, then he turned back to Kree and relayed the part about food. A few gestures later, the representative turned back to Ameno. "As much as he apprecia'es your offer, he asks you 'Save i' for when I am in one piece again, an' we feas'... um..." The go-between flared his paddles, rather upset, and then made a show of clacking one claw, then the other, then bringing them together, then displaying the fact that his claws were together to Ameno. "Comprehen' me?"

Ameno smiled, "of course I look forward to opening the health spa with him, and with the plaza inside it be a perfect place to host a grand opening ball, and if needs I can cover those costs."

Kreekitaka twitched his facial crushers lightly once this information was related to him. "'I mean no offense, bu' I fin' my yas' few such even's frustra'ing. I am sure I am making a recovery before you open, so perhaps i' is going be'er'n previous.'" The translator seemed to struggle a little with conveying the thoughts correctly.

Ameno smiled understand the difficulty, and because of his intelligence and ability with his mouth, he speaks in near perfect Uyeer back. "Thank you, I look forward to it." His only mistake the f was pronounced like a d.

The translator seemed quite taken aback, having not expected anyone to produce those sorts of sounds with a mouth like that. After a moment, he turned back to Kree and replied, subtly correcting the misprononciation, then, after getting Kree's response, he simply replied in their own speech. "<He says, 'As I, as soon as I am free of this contraption. Have you misplaced your prior outfit? Are you in need of a new one?'>"

Ameno seemed a little startled himself getting it right and had to pay attention harder listening to the it, <yes I have managed to lose my uniform, though I hope that when business is, i'll have a work uniform.> <So yes, I am.>"

Kreekitaka nodded upon receiving this information. "<'I'll have an outfit or two made for you if you wish, though I cannot guarantee when I'll have the ability to work on them.'>" The translator looked rather relieved. Even though he tried his hardest to speak Common as well as he could, it was obvious that he was more comfortable in his own language. "You may speak in Common, you know," he pointed out. "I comprehen' jus' fine."

Ameno let out a sigh of relief, he frankly understood the language far better than he spoke it. "Thank you, I have to admit it isn't an easy language to speak, but a unique opportunity, nonetheless. I understand timing may be of less avalible but that is fine I make do with what I got."

Kreekitaka rippled his paddles weakly as he gestured. "<'I suggest you hire some uyeer to assist you in your construction. If you can mimic sounds so well with your mouth, you'll pick up more of it as they work alongside you. Be warned--as you may know, we can be quite... strong-willed.'>" Putting it lightly there, Kree. Uyeer have a tendency to react violently in disagreements, just because that's how they're taught to argue. "<'I'll be sure to contact you as soon as I am free of this enclosure,'>" he added, through the translator.

Ameno nodded, "if there are disagreements, how should i proceed?"

Kreekitaka considered the question carefully. Suggesting that he beat them over the head with a club might give the wrong impression. "<'If you are wrong, concede the point, but do not apologize. If you are correct, stand firm. If reason fails, strike first. Make them respect your strength as well as your intellect.'>"

Ameno thought about this. "Please tell me your people are able to survive being thrown." he said. Remembering the fact being half preklek and half dragon he got the best of both worlds on raw strength.

Kreekitaka twitched his body and an odd hissing sound came from the tank, which caused his guards to look up in alarm for a moment. Maybe he laughed? "<'Look at what happened to me. Obviously it depends on how far you're throwing them. I believe you could pull off bringing one to the ground, but do not expect it to be easy. I personally have knocked out a vampire and a dragon with my claws.'>"

Ameno glanced around looking for something, and then found it a large thick bar of steel about the thickness of a uyeer's head. "Well just to be clear, I want to know if I should hold back a little strength, because um, last time it didn't go so well." He said nervously bending the thing around into a pretzel.

Kreekitaka and the others found this to be a rather disconcerting show of strength. One of the ones not the translator stepped forward, opening a claw and extending tentacles. "<'I wish to try,'>" he said, with the air of a big dude who's just been out-armwrestled by a woman. Kree gestured to his representative. "<'I never advocate holding back. Just try not to kill anyone.'>"

While ameno may have shown an immpressive form of strength he chose deliberatly a hollow pipe his real max, well he wasn't fond of the results, the gruesome memory was a little too much. Taking the uyeer by the claw and then by a leg he swung the uyeer into the air and tossed the uyeer landing about 50' away. Ameno bent down holding his arm. "Ow haven't done that in a long time." he said and reconnected his arm bone socket into place. To be honest he was very strong, but he knew not to show it.

Kreekitaka and crew watched as he flung the hapless uyeer through the air. Uyeer carapace is rather rigid, and there was a rather sickening sound on impact. Immediately, the guards rushed over to take care of him while Kree and his representative fixed their gaze on Ameno, paddles lifting in agitation. Kree's gestures became very military and curt. "<'You are paying for the entire cost of his treatments,'>" said the king. "<'Such a display was unnecessary. If I'm feeling charitable in the morning, I -may- not blacklist you from hiring any of my people. Were I feeling better, I'd remove your tail and beat you with it. Am I understood?'>"

Ameno hung his head. "Yes your honor, my mistake i should have asked what he wanted me to do." On the mention of his tail. He looked at, he knew it was regrowable, but the dinnaty loss would be better. Taking a knife he cut it off, and placed it on the ground. "Beat away, i would rather take full responibility for my actions then to be stained in your eyes and others." He kneeled and lowered his head.

Kreekitaka was not expecting that reaction. He was genuinely apologetic--and had actually removed his own tail. Beating him with it now would be pointless, but he -had- said that he would have done it had he been out of the tank. If he didn't follow through, his troops might see him as weaker for it. So he gestured to his representative. "<He says you are to receive nine lashes,>" said the uyeer, who picked up the tail. "<So I will deliver them and keep track.>" Without waiting for confirmation, the crabman started in on it--nine lashings, and they were not wimpy ones--the crabman packed a powerful arm as well.

Ameno every blow cut him to his core, his own scales against his own as they dug into his flesh, but he did not cry out for the pain was no worse then the pain of his mistkaes the pain of his errors, the pain of his failures, so he bore it even as tail dug deep in to the muscle. Blood gushed down his back, vibrant blue in color, and seemed to glow on its own account. But as he delived a ninth ameno cried out in agony the yell so loud it could be heard in the healing tank.

Kreekitaka had not expected Ameno's scales to hold up as poorly as they had. (Or, conversely, the scales in his tail to hold up as well as they did; he'd have to keep it and run tests on it.) The blood running down his back was certainly not expected and he almost asked his man to stop--but no, justice was being served. His troops would be appeased. At the scream, he rippled his paddles a little--considerable lung capacity there. Maybe he'd get some use out of the being's essence. Definitely keeping the tail. He signaled to the representative to do exactly that. "<Justice has been served,>" said the representative, after a moment, and then Kree gestured some. The representative once more translated, using a rather gentler voice this time. "<'I hope this does not damage our business relationship. Justice was required by my people, you understand?'>" The words had a similar connotation to the phrase "it wasn't exactly personal".

Ameno could barely hear Kreekitaka's translator, or whatever he said, or if he had said anything at all, the pain was great he could feel it having scratched down to the bones, crawling away he soon grabbed by a healer who saw him and helped him, and was soon joined by another as they carried him to the sick bay. From there he lost consciousness again, within a week he was back into a sick bay.
