RP:Mid-night Meeting

Eastern Bridge

Nazaria walked barefooted along the bridge that linked the gates of Cenril to the path leading toward Kelay pulling a small wooden wagon along behind her. The girl had blonde locks that fell to her waist with bi-colored eyes, left bright silver and the right deep blue, and was adorn in a dress as ragged as a cloth used to clean a bar at closing. Orphan, perhaps. A soft whistle left chapped lips as the girl traveled along with her rickety wagon making a creeking sound with every few wheel rolls, noisey child. Careful eyes watched the pass as she crossed. It was late with not another soul crossing at this hour.

Kouki didn't make a habit of hanging around dark bridges, usually. He was supposed to be meeting a bloody trader but he's late. The drow huffs, sweeping the otherwise lifeless area before Nazaria came into view. My my. What's a girl doing out here in the middle of the night? He'll wait until she gets a little closer to the end of the bridge before he'll move out from the shadow of the evergreen he'd been leaning against. His boots kick off against the bark, giving him the look of a man already in stride. He stares at her with purpose. "Evening," He says in a low drawl. "Ain't it late to be outta the city, little Miss?" He quirks an ivory brow at her, arms crossed against his bare, sculpted chest.

Nazaria felt the subtle vibrations through the ground as the man stepped away from the tree, using it to push off on. It was a signa to the girl that someone else was present before they fully revealed themself to her. Steps slowed before coming to a complete stop a few feet from the drow, just far enough she wasn’t within his arms reach, but close enough that in the light of the moon her dirty orphan look was fully shown as non threatening. Those mismatched eyes looking up into those of the man speaking, staring into his eyes in silence for a time before finally speaking, “Isn’t late it to hanging outta the city, Sir?” His question met with another question as a momentary grin flashed revealing little sharp canine teeth. Silence again as the girl fell to studying over this dark skin, white haired man. Whatever he was she had yet to encounter one before, the curious studying giving way to that fact.

Kouki looks her over again. Had he missed something? Was she carrying a weapon in those rags? Hmm. His eyes move back to hers when she answers, a grin stealing his lips without permission. "On the contrary," he reassures her, "It is the -perfect- place to be, if'n your armed. Despite the two there -" He points an ashy finger at her shoulders. "-There's all manner of monsters outside the guard's view." He tilts his head towards the guardtower high above Cenril's border. On his back, rests a gleaming crossbow, the strap hanging loosely. "Makes me think you're some kinda fighter or the reckless sort. Which bet is right?" Her smirks with quiet appreciation for her retort. She's got sass, he had to give her that.

Nazaria was a toothpick with no meat on those bones of hers under that ragged dress too big for her little body. He could eye her over ten times and would not find a weapon on her, nor in the wagon that she pulled behind her. The wagon itself was old and fallen apart sporting a single small wooden crate in it. Those eyes of hers never moved away from him when he pointed over her shoulder. She just continued to stare at him in silence after he questioned her once more. A smirk fell on those cracked lips, a single sharp tooth exposed in those expression, “One does not need to be armed to be considered a monster in the dark,” her words echoed into the empty night air, “Neither bet, I don’t fight and I am not reckless. Which are you? The fighter or the reckless?”

Kouki didn't judge a book by it's wrappings. He'd seen lithe fighters topple giants. Her undivided attention is haunting. What's up with this girl? "Aye, very true." He agreed. Plenty of monsters wear smiles and good tidings. Her retort to his question earns a nod. "I'mma brand ya the later and we'll call it ev'n." Momentarily, he casts his eyes to the moon, shining down on them like a spotlight. All the world's a play. Her question earns his attention once more. Which is he? Why... "I'll leave it up to you to decide. Until then." He bows his head, exaggeration in the gesture. His trader bailed. He's going to have to go seek him out now. Annoying. The drow turns back to the Kelay dirt roads, aiming to amble back the way he came. Before he did, he shot a glance over his shoulder at the blonde. "You ought not stay too long out in the shadows, else you find something more sassy than you." His grin is bold, eating up his face before he turns back to the path at hand and aims to move westward from the bridge.

Nazaria chuckled softly at his warning in his departure,”Linger not yourself in the shadows for you may find something more sassy than I waiting,” she repeated back at him. Another chuckle and he girl started to walk again continuing on her path toward Kelay with her annoying little wagon making those creaking sounds. For a little girl one could call her brave for talking with sass to a drow of all night monsters, yet she didn’t show any fear of Kouki. The girl had stolen jewels to get delivered and now she was free to continue on her way without much of protest now that the drow had taken his leave.
