RP:How To Train Your Carcharodontosaurus, Part 2

From HollowWiki

In order to escape the flames that are eating the WIldlands, Kreekitaka, Pilar, and Draben have fled across the bridge on dinosaurback. The adventure continues...

The RP

The colossal dinosaur charged across the bridge--whatever it was made out of, apparently it was strong enough to support the creature's weight. The problem was the door--it was nowhere near large enough for all of them. The dinosaur by itself would have to get down on its belly and crawl in order to squeeze through, and it was rather doubtful that it was going to try something like that with a horde of raptors chasing it and a bunch of people on its back. The wall was solid stone, so it wasn't going to break through. Instead, what happened bordered on impossible--the creature launched itself from the bridge, grabbed the wall with one foot and its arms, and, in an incredible feat of parkour skills and narrator fiat, leaped on top of and subsequently over the wall, knocking away several guards with its claws and tail. Perhaps it had ingested some of Kree's potion-water in the struggle, or perhaps it was even more powerful than they'd at first been led to believe. Regardless, upon its thunderous impact with the ground, it is most likely that every creature hanging off of it was shaken off, and with another powerful roar the beast kept moving--feeling hemmed in by the castle, leaving those it had stunned behind, it charged out of the open portcullis--straight towards the city beyond.

Kreekitaka groaned quietly and his paddles fluttered weakly. The potion was still in effect but the hit he'd just taken was the sort that could seriously screw a crab over--massive impacts like that rattled his insides and left his whole system discombobulated, at least for a while. The other two uyeer were in a similar state, and possibly worse. Most likely, Draben and Pilar would be the first back on their feet.

Pilar was jostled free of the dinosaur and bounced off the ground before rolling to a stop. She groaned in pain as she tried to decide if getting up was worth it. Then she heard the rasping of the pack of raptors and sighed. She got up slowly, sore from her tumble, and faced the raptors. She took a shaky step forward and held out her hands. "Hey... I-It's okay..." she said. It totally looked like that one scene from Jurassic World, guys, for real.

The raptors had all poured in through the open door (which had been jostled open in the carcharodontasaurus's rampage) had started to flare their feathers and claws at the nearby guards, who all had their crossbows ready to shoot, but when Pilar got up and started trying to soothe them, all their attention focused on her. A couple of them pushed past the others and made strange hooting calls and hissed at her--and then at each other. It seemed the fire had forced two rival packs into cooperation with each other, and now there were a pair of raptors vying for dominance over the whole mass of them. Wary eyes were kept on Pilar, though--she also seemed to want to take control of the packs, and this could very easily turn into a melee a trois. Kree, meanwhile, was still out for the most part, but seemed to be pulling himself back together. At least he hadn't broken anything.

Pilar assessed the situation carefully. She was no dinosaur expert, but she did know animals. And animals loved food. Slowly, carefully, she reached into her bag and pulled out a few pieces of jerky that she usually kept as a treat for her pets. She tossed a piece to each of the pack leaders. "Th-there you go..." she murmured. "Oh, please don't attack." She didn't think she could fight off a pack of raptors. She looked over at Kreekitaka. Oh good, he wasn't dead.

Mother of that sweet baby Ray what was that smell! The turkey-sized creatures turned and investigated it--then fought each other over it before either had even taken a bite. The rest were staying out of the way for now, but the hissing ball of feathers and talons which had erupted into the middle of the battlefield was probably going to decide who controls the pack, rather than who could offer the tastiest scraps. A few of the smaller ones darted forward while they were distracted, however, and snatched up some of the treats for themselves. Several of their kin hissed at them and made motions to grab them, so they darted around behind Pilar's legs to avoid them. Seemed she had a little pack now, at least.

Kreekitaka climbed slowly to his feet. The other two uyeer were still out cold, as was Draben. "Ugh... how... whaTAH! happens?" he asked, not quite in the frame of mind to use past tense yet.

Pilar winced and sighed softly. She wasn't about to break up the fight, but she didn't want it to just go on. And then the next thing she knew, she had a little gang of raptoers hiding behind her. Well then. She pulled out a few more pieces and tossed them to the group that hadn't gotten any. "It's okay, it's okay." She looked over to Kreekitaka. "There is a big monster running loose in the city, Mr. Kreekitaka, and I am trying to keep these monsters from eating us. That is what is happening."

"Running yoose?" Kreekitaka asked, still a little dazed, then rapidly came to all at once. "HHHTHe monsTAH!er!" He looked over his shoulder to where it had disappeared, then over to his two uyeer and Draben, and one could see by the way he flared his facial crushers that he was entirely displeased with how this was going. His paddles were low, however--he was worried. It had been his idea to use the dinosaur to escape, and now it was gone, loose in the city, and there were all these little ones here to worry about as well.

Speaking of the little ones, the group that Pilar had thrown treats at had a minor civil war--some were eating them greedily while others felt that the leader should have first dibs at anything and were fighting to maintain order. It caused enough of a ruckus for the leader fight to break up for a moment as the leader of that pack challenged his group. It looked something like a drill sergeant reprimanding his troops--and that was when leader number two snatched up a fallen treat, let out a commanding sound, and pounced the other leader. Then it really -was- all-out war, though a few more of them escaped the melee by rallying behind Pilar. From up above, one of the guards called, "I've seen enough! Everyone stand back so we can open fire!"

Pilar groaned as her brilliant plan didn't work. Though she was surprised that she was getting a little following of her own. Perhaps this would come in handy. She heard the cry from above and her eyes widened. "What? No, no!" Were they going to fire on them while their comrades were still unconscious on the ground? Besides, the raptors were just hungry animals, they didn't deserve to be slaughtered. They hadn't even hurt any people yet.

Kreekitaka snarled up at the archers and drew his jawblade, making a slashing motion in the air. "WaiTAH!" he called up to them. "Piyar, you seem TAH!oo have a foyowing among HHHTHem. I know noTAH! how powerfoh your infyuence over HHHTHem is, however, we aoso cannoTAH! simpyee ayow HHHTHem TAH!oo spreaDAH! HHHTHeir vioyence beyonDAH! HHHTHis poinTAH!. If you yeave, are HHHTHey going TAH!oo keep fighTAH!ing?" If yes, then it was time for a more forceful solution. Otherwise, if Pilar could keep them from fighting by virtue of movement, then maybe they could be led into containment of some kind.

Pilar looked at her little pack. "I... I don't know." She walked away a few feet, and the raptors scrambled after her. Gingerly, she patted one on the snout. "I think... I think they'll follow me."

Kreekitaka nodded. "ArrighTAH!." He turned his attention back to the raptor war for a moment, then made a loud clattering noise with his paddles followed by three distinct clicks--the front pair of his knees clacking together, his elbows, and his claws. Then he gestured for Pilar to follow him. "Come," he said, then started swiftly marching down the street. Out of the stable and into the street came those three very large riding scorpions. Lacking the expertise of the other two riders, Kree gestured to each of them to look after their fallen party members, then mounted Vindicator with swift steps and reached out a claw to Pilar. "We're going TAH!oo catch my creature. Cyimb on."

Pilar followed along dutifully, and her raptors followed her. She jumped when he called his scorpions, startled by the sudden clacking. The scorpions passed her by, and she looked at Vindicator, then up to Kreekitaka. Gingerly, she took his claw and climbed aboard. She looked at her raptors, which were now crowding around Vindicator. "What do we do about them?"

Kreekitaka rumbled internally and planted his feet, gripping the reins. "If you can commanDAH! HHHTHem TAH!oo cyimb on, bring HHHTHem aboarDAH!. If noTAH!, we hope HHHTHey foyow." With that, a couple of solid kicks got the scorpion moving, foretalons lifting up into attack position and tail arcing upwards as well. It was time this hunt began in earnest. Out of the castle they went, down towards the city. It was at this point that Kree realized it was just him and Pilar and their respective animal companions at this point, and that the rest of their backup was still in town. Well, he was sure they'd arrive as soon as they woke up. It wasn't that hard to track Vindicator.
