RP:Edrick Meets Tristram

From HollowWiki

Edrick enters the Governor's Estate and notices Tristram, Edrick kneels and bows to the Ruler of Gualon, "I am Edrick of the Vorz Clan and I thank you for taking the time to meet with me." he stays on his knee with his head bowed until Tristram recognizes him and allows him to stand.

Tristram was having a nightcap by his fireplace and going over the last vestiges of his paperwork for the day when a dwarf appeared in front of him, bowing. He looked around for his house staff and saw Jacobo, his majordomo, shrug helplessly near the door. Tristram hastily beckoned the dwarf back to his feet. "Up, up. You don't need to bow to me. Can I get you a drink? You an ale man?"

Edrick stands up and smiles as no dwarf can ever refuse a drink. "Yes, my lord I would love a drink." He then finds an empty chair and takes a seat waiting on his drink. He takes off his helmet allowing his long red hair to shine in the fire light, his blue eyes peering out from behind strands of hair. "A most interesting city you have here, I don't believe I have ever been here before." he says politely

Tristram went to his liquor cabinet and poured an ale, crafted from a superior Dwarven brew, which he offered to Edrick. "Just Tristram is fine." He took a sip from his own glass and gestured to the pair of armchairs before the fireplace. He took his seat again and swilled his drink. "I'm rather fond of it. I suppose I ought to inquire if you're an assassin or not. I've found most assassins to usually possess a certainty honesty about them, surprisingly."

Edrick smiles, "No need to assassinate you good sir, Craughmoyle has enough of its own troubles to be playing around in other kingdoms." he then gulps the ale and wipes his jaw, "by Loda that is a good drink", he then asks Tristram, "Have you ever been to Embassy Row in Craughmoyle?"

Tristram stood and went to effortlessly refill Edrick's glass. He returned it to the dwarf and took his seat again. "I have, Edrick. Infrequently though, I must say."

Edrick nods, "then you are aware that the throne sits empty, and that the council has yet to choose a new king." he then pauses for a moment, "I come on behalf of my clan, as we are in a position to have a member of our clan sit upon the throne."

Tristram swilled his drink again and took a sip. "I wasn't aware, per se. I know the area's been quiet for some time. Clearly there is some authority there because the region hasn't dissolved into anarchy like Cenril. I'm guessing you are here to ask for my support in your bid for the crown?"

Edrick nods "the council of longbeards rules the city when there is no king, and my father is the head of the city guard.", he then props his hand on his chin, "I am in no position to take the throne myself as my father is alive and I must obey his commands."

Tristram listened thoughtfully to the dwarf's words, storing them away for future reference as to the line of succession in Craughmoyle. "I see. Then why are you here, Edrick of the Vorz clan?"

Edrick looks directly at Tristram "I am here to renew relations between Gualon and Craughmoyle, if an ambassador for Gualon could be stationed inside Craughmoyle at the Orc Embassy that would be best, a success in renewing relations would possibly tip favor in my clan's direction."

Tristram leaned back in his chair. He hadn't seen such an amicable, albeit political maneuver in quite some time. "I'm impressed with your proposal, Edrick. Give me a day or so to formalize my answer and select a candidate who would best represent not only the orc community, but also Gualon."

Edrick happily leaned forward in his chair, "I do look forward to working with you in the future"

Tristram said to you, "Are you also inquiring the same from the other leaders of the realm?"

Edrick said to Tristram, "you are the first I have contacted, although I am sure that I may meet a few other lords in an attempt to gain more favour in restoring the embassies to their former glory."

Tristram took out his cigarette case and offered one to Edrick before lighting one for himself. "The embassies, huh. It's a good idea. Whether you can pull it off or not ... that's the real question. I want to believe you can."

Edrick takes the cigarette and opens it and pulls out his pipe and pours the tobacco into it before lighting it and puffing. "It hasn't been done in centuries, the only embassy still open in craughmoyle is the drow embassy."

Tristram rolled his eyes. "And we all know diplomatic the drow are." He held up a hand. "I jest. Partly. But it's a miracle it's still standing, truthfully. Though I'm sure that's nothing short of your Craughmoylian craftsmanship at work." He closed his cigarette case and returned it to his pocket as he took a long drag. "Cenril is a mess. But I'd talk to Vailkrin and Frostmaw next, if I were you."

Edrick nods "I will be sure to speak with them, interestingly though rumours are stirring that the drow have attempted to forge relations with the exiled clans, if this is true it bodes ill for Craughmoyle."

Tristram said to you, "The drow renewing relations with anything is alarming. But i suppose that is a bridge to cross when it comes to that."

Edrick said to Tristram, "perhaps if you have pleasant relations with some of the other nations you might do me a favour and send them a letter of introduction on my behalf and inform them I sincerely wish to renew diplomacy between the kingdoms"

Tristram said to you, "I don't mind doing so for Frostmaw and Vailkrin, as they are personal friends of mine. You're on your own for the others. Now, it's getting late, and an old dragon must get his beauty sleep, so if you'll excuse me."

Edrick nods and stands up offering a bow as he turns to exit the estate.
