RP:Draconic Troubleshooting

From HollowWiki

Zahrani quietly sits in the tavern, wearing her simple garb that's she's usually seen in. Sleeveless shirt, pants, boots, and her amulet. The paladin was just saying goodbye to a young giant who had come to her for healing the previous day. The boy leaves from his informal follow-up appointment, and Zahrani takes a sip from a cup of warm winterberry juice. She seems content with the relative quiet. Scandal enters the tavern out of his usual garb wearing dark garments and thick coat. Walking in he pulls back the hood and finding his good friend Zahrani sitting, he places down a gold piece at the bar and walks toward her table behind her, "This seat taken?" He asked in his rich voice. Zahrani turns her cyan gaze to the dragon who approaches her, smiling warmly at the man and gesturing towards the seat across from her, "Please, join me, my friend." The previous time they had spent together was certainly awkward, but the paladin is more concerned about Scandal's health and well-being than the awkwardness.

Silvaria scampers in. Garnet hued eyes focused on the fire place, the quickly looked around her surroundings. Noticing the other patrons, she quickly sat at a table closes to the fireplace. As she removed her cloak hood her velvety cream colored eyes twitched at the sounds.

Scandal takes a seat beside her, Scandal looks at her as if communicating an apology for the awkwardness last time. "So, I hear you've been in a battle recently, did you fare well?"

Zahrani responds to Scandal first, "It was a surprise attack, but we managed to drive them off. It was good to have the Larketians there at the time." The androgynous feline looks towards another visitor that had just sat at the fireplace. The foxkin's gaze seems to have caught the paladin's eye. She had rarely ever seen eyes like that. Should Silvaria meet the panther's eyes, she would offer a warm smile before turning back to the dragon, "How have you been since last we met?" Scandal leaned back in his chair, "Not as well as I would like, I ended up seeing a Physician. Gal spoke to me, which made it awkward, it got more so, when they wanted to do a physical when I was in dragon form, and the awkwardness got a lot worse when they wanted to investiagte why my throat bothers me from time to time, it wasn't pleasent having them down there trust me, I never been so worried, anyway, I guess life has left me alive so I guess I shouldn't complain too much."

Zahrani sips her drink while she listens, then asks, "Did they provide any recommendations? What happened to your throat?" Scandal shrugged, "Told me it would run its course," he said. "As for the throat, its always bothered me, I guess it comes from having a crop, Yes like birds, trust me I found it really weird too, but anyway, apparently a lot of dust has built up in there and has produced a rash along the walls, of it, Docs told me that if I allowed them to return to it they would clean it out, but I told them to go to blazes, I wouldn't trust them in there not with anything sharp, especially not them, I'd never forgive myself, the more stressed I get the less control I have over it seems. That and I hold my hoard in a secondary near that, and when it comes to trusting people I can only count on my hand four people."

Zahrani tilts her head to the side, listening to the scenario as Scandal retells it, "How do you 'clean out' a rash? Shouldn't you just let it heal?" The feline might know a think or two about medicine, and she finds the doctor's terminology to be very...unusual. Scandal listens to response and realizes that she didn't understand. "Err, no, not cleaning out the rash, Cleaning out the crop, got remove all the dust, and the only way to do that is, letting somone go down and clean out the crop when I am in dragon form.

Zahrani's head remains tilted to the side. "That's...unusual. Your body doesn't have a natural way to flush it out?" She's not an expert on dragon anatomy, so her question is a genuine one. She takes another sip of her juice. Scandal shook his head, "Not that I am aware of, I guess that comes from, using the other sac attached to the crop to hold the hoard, and I don't know what that sac was for, and I also don't know a safe place to dump the hoard, if I wanted to see if that extra sac is the biological thing to clean out the crop."

Zahrani does her best not to roll her eyes at her friend. The idea that he would risk his health for a hoard is somewhat, mind-boggling for her. "It wouldn't hurt to try. There are plenty of caves in the mountains to guard your hoard, if you must. If it doesn't work, you can find another solution, and if it does work, then you've learned something new about yourself while simultaneously solving the issue with your health." Also, he could potentially nip the problem in the bud before the issue becomes potentially debilitating.

Scandal slowly nodded his head, "Your right, I should, I just um, I am trying to live up to what I appear to be, and I am unsure if I can do that by compromising." He sighed taking a drink.

Zahrani is having trouble understanding exactly what Scandal would be compromising by putting his hoard outside of his body. "I heard a story that dragons use gold as a bed, because it is the only material that is comfortable enough to sleep on without being torn apart by their scales. Is that just a story?"

Scandal smiled, "It depends upon the dragon, you know my secret, the flesh on my underbelly has no scales," He paused the smile vanishing, "There are times that I wish i was a single breed, so that I didn't need to feel like I have to fit into both worlds," He paused trying to make it more plain, "You know how as a paladin you must follow a certain code of conduct? With Dragons we have to follw certain traditions according to our breeds, for me its a struggle one side of my breed maintains a vast hoard, the other maintains power and influence, I tried to take the lesser of the two evils, with the hoard, and one of the traditions requires the dragon to never allow theives to get away with stealing from the hoard, or to put the hoard in a postiion it could be stolen, but my conscience also wanted to put it somewhere where no one, would dare try to rob, for fear of their life, which would prevent me from having to kill them otherwise."

Zahrani nods, "I remember now." She pauses for a moment, thinking about what the dragon says, before saying, "Why do you have to be one or the other? Just by being a paladin, I've already defied a lot of stereotypes and expectations that people have of felines. There are those who think we're all just good for thieving and banditry. Or that we're inherently selfish." Not necessarily an equivalent comparison to what Scandal is experiencing, but all the same. "I guess my point is: you don't have to be so binary. You've shared some of your hoard before, so it's not like you can't afford to keep it outside of your body for a little while. Just long enough for it to heal. There is also magic you could study to make your hoard inaccessible without you needing to swallow it."

Scandal thought to himself, before he spoke, "All right, I know I can do the storing it elsewhere, but I know also that I cannot use magic, only others who wish to draw mana from me to work whatever spel they desire." Just for a second he let down the invisible barrier that gave a glimpse into the fathomless mana reserves he had, and then shut them up. "Turns out not using that mana is the cause of my headaches." He paused, "Would you mind coming with me to find a place to store the hoard?" Zahrani puts her cup down, nodding. "Of course. I'd be happy to come with you." It had been some time since they traveled together.

Scandal rose from his chair, “Lets discuss details soon as we are on the road." Scandal said, "You don't have any previous engagements in the course 48 hours do you, I can fly fast, but not like lightning. Zahrani rises from her chair as well, raising a brow and going upstairs momentarily. After a few minutes, she emerges in her armor, with her insulated, hooded cloak about her, "So, how far are we going exactly?" She swings a satchel over her shoulder.

"Ever been to Rhynvale island?" Scandal asked.

Zahrani sighs, placing her satchel back on her chair. "Scandal...I can't travel that far right now. I need to be ready to sail for another mission."

Scandal paused. Then sighed. "You have your priorities its seems, I will take care of this, sorry for telling you after you were dressed." And with that Scandal left the tavern. Zahrani offers a warm smile, and before the dragon leaves, she says, "It's alright. I really do wish I could go with you."
