The Dancing Destrier

Built against the rocky mountains behind it, The Dancing Destrier is a large inn. Double doors open to a massive dining area, often filled with magelings, villagers and visitors to the town, and even a few errant hobbits who have braved leaving the Burrows to live among the 'Big People'. Many wondrous smells come from the kitchen, where the barkeep's wife prepares exotic foods with ingredients given to her by mages, and recipes gained over a lifetime of meeting the strange patrons who come from all around to study within the Mage Tower or pay their respects to the Xalious Tree. The owner is a friendly man, with eyes that betray a fierce intelligence. Thin of arm and quiet of voice, he nevertheless emits the confidence which comes from those who have studied the arcane. A small fire burns without wood in the corner, but it is more a source of light than heat; kept alive by young pyromancers in the Guild as an exercise in control. There is always a student or two sitting in one of the high chairs which surround it, their features fierce in concentration. The entire building is made like the rest of Xalious Village: simple and sturdy, yet clearly built with the love and attention which can only come from the villagers themselves.

Zeeta made her way through the tavern rather set on grabbing a drink after a hard day of cleaning up the riffraff of the area for a few gold coins. The feline was hardly dressed for this sort of establishment and felt rather out of place from the moment she walked in. The most obvious thing that stood out about the feline , was her cloak, dark browns , greens , and blacks all woven together to form a camo pattern, the natural plant growth that was sewn into the fabric only helped to serve its original purpose of hiding in plain sight. Though the feline kept her hood down, the cat like features plain as day even as her ears never stopped twitching and moving listening to every new noise , Regarding it and dismissing it in the same moment. Piercing cat like eyes would stare the bartender down for a moment until she cracked a smirk. A quick muttered conversation and she was standing with a drink in her hand . “Now where to sit...” not with the mages off to the corner, And most certainly not the completely smashed brawny fellow that was about to fall from his chair into the floor. Casting her gaze over the place once more she choose a table that , as far as she could tell, No one had claimed for themselves.

Brennia saunters in shortly after the feline took her chosen seat. She was tall for a woman, but for an Avian she was pretty average as far as women's height went. She beamed a kind smile to the bar tender as she went to go order drinks for those with her. It was hard to notice at first as those massive onyx wings blocked view behind her, but there are a few bard's guild members trekking close behind her. She wears a basic blue silken wrapped shirt and black leggings, but other than her attire one wouldn't be able to free their gaze from the ink pattern covering, possibly, every inch of her supple caramel skin. The mages milling about seem to stop what they are doing to take in the sight of Brennia before readying themselves for something. It becomes clear that the bard's with her start setting up in a quant corner and are here to perform a little song for any patrons in the Dancing Destrier; their choice of song being light and something patrons could easily dance to. Brennia doesn't join in for now, she only watches as her little troupe brings joy to the hum drum of every day lives.

Zeeta grew tense for the barest of moments as her eyes took in first the avian, But passed her by for further observations, to the others in her little merry band . It took only moments for the feline to pick apart exactly how she would handle them should they prove to be more then just a merry band of bards . Paranoid? Absolutely but she was still alive and that was more then she could claim for the others she used to know. Pleased with her first sweep she turned her attention back to the avian, Mentally cataloging each visible one even as she took another drink. What truly caught her attention wasn’t the tattoo’s she’d seen plenty of those before . No what truly captivated her was her height, and her wings. The feline had always had a slight obsession with high places, And what better way to get to those places then with a set of wings. Casually , she cocked her head to the side openly staring and comparing the wings of the woman to some others she had seen in passing. Every little movement or flex of the wings caused her to grin, they seemed to act a lot like her tail...A mind of their own.

Brennia paid no mind to her wings as they preened under scrutiny as she's come accustomed to people staring. She used to perform at The Hanging Corpse all day and, as history goes, Avian's detest vampires. Brennia could care less of her ancestry's racism as she viewed it as barbaric. Slowly her large oceanic blue gaze settles back to Zeeta, unbothered in the slightest of the staring, but she stares right back with a soft smirk. Trailing her gaze from those flicking ears under the hood and the green eyes staring back, lower in attempts to spot those feline fangs and lower until she reached that wavering tail. It was as if her wings and that tail were flirting with each other and in the back of Brennia's mind she recalls an account with a different feline. What an odd pair they made 'bird and cat' and she softly chuckles to herself at the memory. She leaves her drink at the barkeep to make her way on over to Zeeta and once close enough the feline would pick up on her most favorite scent emitting from the Avian. "Merry Meet." That soft alto timbre of her's swims on the air between them and she refrains from taking a seat unless offered, but first she gives a half bow with her fist over her heart. She continues, "I don't believe I've seen you here before?" Her soft smile remained in revealing perfect pearly teeth and regardless of her height there was something regal about her mere presence that commands attention from all.

Zeeta didn’t flinch when she had been apparently caught in her staring. Her face split into a smirk as her fangs could easily be seen. She’d give a small nod as the avian started to talk. She’d take a moment to enjoy the view before wrenching her gaze to the other woman’s eyes . “I’d assume not, I’ve never had to treat any one as pretty as you. Sure your not coming down with a temperature?” The smirk never faltered as she tilted her head towards the seat across from her . “At the very least your more enjoyable to look at then the man who’s about to fall.” She said happily before taking a drink. “I’m Zeeta, doctor in training, Not a healer. But a doctor.” She had to ensure the stressing of that point. “And yourself ? Or are you going to keep mesmerizing me with looks alone?”

Brennia pushed some of her own silky black tendrils to tuck behind an elongated pointed and pierced ear as she looked over her shoulder, wing shifting out of the way to allow it., so she may take note of the man she speaks of, "Ah yes… I can see it's going to be a full moon as well…" She chuckles softly at her joke because of the man's exposed arse crack. She turns her attentions back to the feline just as her troupes soft song ended and they received a rousing applause from the small crowd, Brennia included. They received some gold and were giddy to play another, which made Brennia smile more just before the feline's flirts hit those pointy ears of her's. No blush and no tittering as she was also used to these types of advances as well, "It is a pleasure to meet you Zeeta," The way her tongue twisted the woman's name up that is sounded as if it were taboo to speak it, but the will to hear it often would be realized. "I am a bard guild member looking to lead it. We recently put on a big performance at the Larket Charity Benefit and it was a huge it." She sounded as if a proud mother as she took a seat across from the new acquaintance. "My name is Brennia Smyth…" Her brow quirks, "A doctor you say? A few of my fellow members are quite interested in the aspects of using their magics for healing." She noted the drink in Zeeta's possession, "What've you got there, Zeeta? Would you like another?"

Zeeta’s smile never faltered, finally someone that didn’t turn to mush at the smallest compliment. “Larket? I’ve only heard of the place in passing, A witch lives up that way yes? I was looking for a witch for some information but as you can see, I get side tracked easily." She took a drink from the glass and merely cocked her eye at the woman’s question if she needed another. ”Oh no its just water, liquor and me...Well we get along smashingly its just everyone else that claims we shouldn’t spend time together.” The smile only grew more, ”Brennia Smyth? Is that right? And if my tongue isn’t getting it mixed up you must be...” She trailed off for a moment taking in the appearance of the woman once more. ”Higher then a duchess… But I want to say... Less then a princess since you haven’t turned your nose up at my attire.” Zeeta made a small wave at her cloak to make it apparent what she had meant. ”And I'm sad to say they would have to look for the magical healers, As I said I'm a doctor, I can’t concentrate enough magic to warrant such amazing healing acts like others, So I learned the less fun methods. Amputation, pressure points, surgery. Need a leg cut off safely? I’m your girl, want the wound in your stomach magiced back together well that’s just not me."

Brennia let her grin grow wider at the mention of a witch, "Artia the apothecary? She is a dear friend of mine and currently calling my castle a home. I'll make it a point to have you two meet one day." She wasn't about to pry on why this stranger needs the crafts of a witch, but that is no business of Brennia's. She wasn't cocky or arrogant as she playfully adds, "I think I could handle you and a bit of liquor." When the feline starts making assumptions on Brennia's status that smile waned just slightly 'am I still so obvious?' she would think to herself. "Formally Countess Brennia Smyth de Vere, meaning of Vere. It is not a place anyone has really heard of, but I do not recognize my title anymore… Very astute." She knows she isn't a huge walking mystery and her ability to sniff out her royal background was very Sherlock-Holmes-ian of her. She was so ready for a little debate as she leans in a bit as if exposing a well kept secret, "The things some of these bards have taught me is amazing. The ability to keep a calm in a room full of chaos or subdue the mind to a fake sleep… Even paralyzing body parts." She sat up straight once more as her grin returned with a dark glint in her oceanic eyes as the last part is full of suggestion, "It is amazing what one could do at the right frequency."

Zeeta gave a small shrug of her shoulders as the avian seemed upset with the basics of assumption. She then held up three clawed fingers ."Your last name isn’t a job title," She lowered one, "The way you carry yourself screams legions," The second to last one fell "And , finally, The way you talk, Its very clear, accents in all the right places." She dropped her last finger, "But on the bright side your at least nice for a bit of royalty." Then the felines eyes lit up in amusement.” Ohh is it the flame method? Now the fake sleep would be amusing to learn, I can only take cat naps." That grin was infectious to herself for her own pun. “Oh I can do that too, But I have an awful voice for talking let along singing in a proper frequency." She gave a dark mutter at that thought. "But I trust you enough Brennia, that you aren’t going to attempt anything untoward towards a defenseless kitten.” Once more her smirk returned the fangs showing as she was amused. "Show me yours and I'll show you mine?" The feline knew exactly how many ways her play on words could be taken she was just curious to see where the bards mind was

Brennia let her grin grow wider as the explanation was given. Again, very Sherlock Holmes, but more so now. 'At least nice?' she thought as the back of her own mind darkened a bit and the ink which covers her skin.. Did it just twitch or shift? Maybe its just poor lighting in here? What was that? Either way Brennia didn't seem concerned by it, "Maybe you should pay us a visit one day to the bard's college and see exactly what we have to offer." Brennia's own grin replies with Zeeta's and in doing so it pokes dimples in her cheeks while offering up a wink before her little tease, "I think the way I play, you may like it, Zeeta." Brennia crossed one legging clad leg over the other at the feline's last sentence just as the troupe was done with their second song she motioned for one of them to bring her a mandolin. "We can try that in the privacy of my home later if you wish, but for now I'll just show you this." She strums the mandolin to gather the right chords before the melody takes over in a soft serene tune which sings of optimism and the excitement of finding a new love. The song was moving and beautiful enough easily, but once her eyes close (for precautions) the bardic magics weaves in between every note struck and sung from that alluring alto timbre of her's. The bards gather around her, but don't join in and merely sway in it's power and it fills the soul as if a sponge to liquid. Mending scars internally if only for the duration of the song, but it was like ecstasy and as softly as a feather drifting lazily to the floor she attempted to end the song. For most it takes a small moment to shake of the shock from the warm embrace they were just held in. The small troupe of bards clap when she finally opens her eyes to hand the mandolin back, "I'll see you guys back at the college." She smiles kindly before each of them gave her an air kiss to depart.

Zeeta watched in steady amusement as the bard set to work. The first few notes catching off guard with the force of a rampaging yeti. At first she found herself drifting to the effects of the song. That was the time her clawed hands dug into her own leg snapping her from the effects of the song. It was an incredibly beautiful song and the woman’s tone and ability was something to marvel at , but Zeeta had a slight dislike towards mind altering magics. But again she’d give the bard the benefit of the doubt if even just for the moment. Though she enjoyed the song in entirety she had grown a new found respect and caution for the woman sitting across from her. ”Tsk, tsk you can’t just bring strays home all the time, Some of us might be badly tempered you know.“ She thought for a moment longer, “but how did you do that? I felt the effects of the song almost instantly...“ She reached up to her ears . ”It was these wasn’t it?“ As her hand started to inspect her ears she grinned for the woman, “Very pretty song was that for me?“ A small sigh. ”More talent in one hand then I have in my entire body.”

Brennia could nearly feel her ink twitch this time, "Again… I think I can handle it… I already have plenty of strays - or pets as I call them staying in my castle." That would be a peculiar thing for anyone to say, but she's found herself to be quite persuasive in the art of pleasing others, but also getting them to do as she wishes. "It is just an ability some of us are born with and very few spend years in learning. In my time back home it was actually kept a secret from me, these powers." She watched her carefully with that grin always present before a soft giggle was given, "Thank you, and if you allow it to be, yes." When the feline make her last remark her wide grin softens in sincerity, "We all never truly know our own potential." Her deep blues linger on the woman's frame for a while, making out the curves the best she could when her tone turns a little more questionable, "So, your talent remains to be seen, Zeeta."

Zeeta gave a small grin listening the woman, Again the claws sinking into her leg to keep her mind sharp and clear, As her eyes noticed the ink that enjoyed...Moving this way and that. She held out her right hand, The one not clawing herself. ”Oh? Care to see what I can do? Alright then.“ She gave a flick of her wrist an odd silvery blade seemingly appearing in hand , It was odd in its shape in its design and even in its thickness, The blade danced and spun between fingers before another flick of her wrist and the blade vanished back into her sleeve. She stood up. ”Do you mind if I use you to show you?” Her pace was calm as she slid around the table, her hand came up, depending on Brennia's consent of course. She’s touch three place, two on the shoulders then the last at the base of neck, a small spike of chi and the effects where rather instant. Tensions and aches that had gone unnoticed for whiles would fade and melt to nothing, a euphoric feeling would erupt and fade in seconds as the feline would take a seat back across from her. ”See? Nothing too fancy,“ Zeeta had been careful to not hit the wrong cluster of points, since a few inches lower would of been parlays and a few inches higher would of left the woman... Enjoying herself for the entire bar to witness. Reclaiming her seat she drained the glass and gave that same small fanged smile. ”Besides, I’m not really a good pet, Bad habit of liking to be on top of the food chain and all that.”

Brennia, of course, allowed the woman to demonstrate on her and when the talents her expressed she could almost feel the hidden danger like the cloak she wears. She suspects she isn't really a doctor, but "You could play doctor with me whenever you wish." She felt now how the ink was itching to play, too. Why here? Why now? Inky as been so good lately, don’t ruin this. She was quiet a moment before kindly smiling, "It was such a pleasure to make your acquaintance, Zeeta." She stands before offering a little bow once again and the feline may pick up on flecks of blank clouding over in those large blue eyes of her's. "If you will excuse me, I must prepare my bards for a play. Do come by the college for some fun though, yeah?" She was internally freaking out, but on the surface she is surprisingly calm, cool and collected. "Merry part until we merry meet again." She would wait for goodbyes to be said before gracefully sauntering out the establishment to take off into the skies with much force.

Zeeta calmly cocked her head to the side as she slowly waved a sudden good bye to the avian. "Well met and pleasant travels Brennia Smyth. And you do know how to tempt a girl." She gave the smallest of waves letting the avian flee with out much preamble as the feline ideally rubbed her fingers together curious if she could steal a sample the next time they met. She'd give a sigh to herself. "Oh well, I'm sure there are more people that need to be taken care of ." With that she stood and headed for the doorway.
