RP:Discussion With Linn

From HollowWiki

Linn was currently travelling westward in his usual gear, armor, pack, and all. Rather than walking he appeared to be gliding across the road as if skating on ice, allowing him a much more rapid travel for the effort needed. While the roads were still good he entertained himself with an occasional twist and spin that did little to interrupt his forward motion, the only evidence that he had done so being a slight twisting of the scuffed paths his boots left in the dirt. He’d have to slow down once he got to the cratered sections, but for now why not have some fun?

Desparrow was on his way to Frostmaw possibly, or the forest. Which was it? He didn't really know but he needed to be places but one of the very people he needed to talk to was one of of which he encountered on his passing through. He was in no hurry however, strolling casually when Linn came to view. A wave was offered to the male, having expected that the other got his letter that was sent out. Watching Linn move the enchanter seemed to be in cheery spirits. "Well hello there." he smiled when within regular speech range. "How are you tonight?" Des was dressed as casually as he moved, not even wearing armor. "I expect you received my message?"

Linn halted one of his spins the moment he caught a glance of… someone coming his way, facing Desparrow to see who it was as he continued gliding in the direction of his travels. Seeing the wave he leaned against the motion before dust began flying up under his feet and he slowed to a stop before waving back. “Hey Des. Fancy seeing you all the way out here.” As many times as he crossed people, it usually didn’t happen right on open road. “Fine, a little routine but I’ve got enough going on to not want surprises right now anyway.” The query about Desparrow’s message prompted a nod. “I did. And of course I have to wonder when we will be meeting to discuss what to do about everything.” He decided to stick to some of the vagueness, what he knew about events in Cenril becoming more or less outdated as of late.

Desparrow nodded, "Of course. There are about.. seven, eight of us, though I never really confronted you or Talyara about aiding me, I guess I just sort of expected it. I could use it I'll be honest. I just.. I'm not good with that sorta thing. I will say that I've been using your crystals to work on a way of creating sustained spells.. The plan has changed. I am sure you weren't going to be apart of me literally just slaughtering people to get them to obey, and my priorities have changed. I -know- the guard will put up a fight, maybe even some of the crime organizations.. But the plan is evacuation. Get all of the civilians out to a safe place. I don't know why but its too quiet, I haven't heard anything back from my spy, in fact I haven't been able to contact him at all and it feels like the mermaid may make a move. I haven't gotten an army yet but I have allies. We can't do it ourselves though. I'd feel more confident if I had you and another healer like Talyara helping me." He sighed, knowing that it was all a bit much, and not caring it was in the open. He knew he could take care of any spies that would be around on his own.

Linn jolted back and blinked at the sudden shower of information before he began sorting through the jumbled mess. “Whoa. Slow down for a second. Okay.” He sighed before nodding slightly, “So what little I’ve heard about something wanting to drown Cenril is still a thing.” Another blink. Did he just admit it? “Yeah, I know you’ve been using my crystals. I honestly had that figured when you returned the first cluster with how it was cut. It was too clean if you get what I mean. We –will- be talking about what is to be done with those mana crystals by the way.” His finishing statement was steeled; the enchanter was clearly very peeved that such secrets were kept from him. “But first. I haven’t been in Cenril enough to fully understand the problems there, and to have any input of my own worth anything I need a better idea of what they are.”

Desparrow withdrew the violet crystal from his pocket, it had grown. "Honestly, the crystal is great. The portals I can sustain with it Its incredible. Look at it from my perspective. Yes Zirael wants to destroy cenril. I don't want that to happen. If I can't save it however I want to save the people." They lycan took a deep breath. "I apologize. Honestly I can show you what I've been doing, also I don't even know what I'm up against, that is the problem. I have no knowledge other than what Lanara has told me so I've been preparing for it, though I just can't shake the feeling that it isn't enough. Basically Cenril has been nothing but the guard against the crime with the civilians in between and its been a shaky harmony always. They are too blind, and won't see Zirael coming when it happens. The entire place will be wiped out. Honestly its my home. I want to save it, but if that means only hte people can be spared, I'll rebuild it my damn self when its said and done."

Linn smiled slightly at Desparrow’s appreciation for the mana crystal. And to think, using it as a dense power source was merely scratching the surface of its capabilities. His mention of evacuating the citizens to save Cenril even if a drowning was inevitable brought a nod and a widening of the smile with some sort of respect. In spite of his suspicions of the lycan he had to admit the guy had a good deal of his stuff straight. “I know what you mean. An evacuation may just be the best bet if we can’t prevent ourselves from being surprised.” At the mention of being shown what was being done with the crystals Linn’s nostrils flared slightly with a silent look that conveyed he –better- show what he’s been doing. With the statement of Cenril’s condition he nodded slightly. “To force an evacuation from something that isn’t there –yet- isn’t an easy deal. Not impossible though…” his eyes rolled upwards in thought as the gears began turning of what kinds of shenanigans would have to be done. And just the raw scale of them for a city as big as Cenril.

Desparrow did have his things together, for the most part. He was certainly an entity of chaos, the bad and the good constantly fighting. Never know what you are going to be encountering on a day-to-day. "Yes. I just needed to make sure I had your support. I don't know what she is going to throw at the city. But I have some things already in place just in case we get to be first. However as a sample." he gripped the crystal in his hand and cut a small sliver with an enchancted claw. Then he sliced open a small gate, through which you could see Des' house. It was hazy but when he pressed that sliver to the unstable border strings of ether, the raw essence of magic drew out from the crystal to the gate and they snapped together. The border became solid, stabilized and the haze cleared up a bit solidifying the rifts temporary existence in reality. It held itself open for many long moments of which Desparrow was silent; the crystal slowly shrinking as it was absorbed. "This is what I've been working on. Of course there is more to it.." he pulled the remained of the crystal from the gate and handed it over to Linn. It was smaller but held quite a bit of energy. The gate had completely destabilized upon detachment and collapsed when it no longer had fuel. "We would have to do something big, but big is what I plan. The gates, are a last resort of evacuation for civilians if entirely necessary but I can't hold open a gate for people if we are also under attack."

Linn nodded at Desparrow’s hope for his support. “So long as everything is done properly to not damage what’s worth keeping. Much as we can anyway.” The gate opening brought a raising of his brows as he approached the portal, walking towards its edge and almost reaching out as if to touch the bound borders before hesitating. His right eye turned violet with arcane sight to view the mechanisms at work, the enchanter a bit more determined to keep his thoughts in this world this time. “Not bad.” He commented as the color faded away from his eye, “A construct like this is something I’ll want to fully record when we have the time to do so.” The uses of such magic have clearly piqued his interest, as strange as spatiomancy might be. The mention of something big brought a sigh, “Probably. I think our best bet would be to give everyone a reason and the tools for an evacuation that would let them escape for the real problem. Of course, that’s going to take a miracle of timing to pull off.” His eyes narrowed slightly in thought before he grinned, “Or… how we make our own reason for evacuation might just bait out the attack only for it to destroy stone and wood.”

Desparrow was glad that Linn's anger appeared abated for the meantime. "Yes.. I have many experiments, and I'm not using more than I'm making for you. So you should be glad for that." he sighed, "Though on the fact of Cenril, I don't know how much we can save. First priority is its people, I know in that fact there -will- be bloodshed, the guard have a lot of numbers, and they mayor is stubborn. To preserve the civilians numbers will be lost, not just theirs, but probably some of my pack as well. A sacrifice." he kicked the ground, allowing another sigh to pass his lips. "I've lived there, the way the mayor is. He would honestly find me crazy, and to be honest he isn't very good at suppressing the crime, so much so that I feel like he could be corrupt and personally the best interest of cenril is to have him.. removed." Yes he was stating that perhaps killing would be entirely necessary, "I am still looking for some more support but if necessary I'll move before the mermaid. I'd rather not have to counter her assault, if all we leave is the buildings that is fine."

Linn rolled his eyes at Desparrow’s mention of how the mana crystals were shared. “So long as I know what’s going on with them. The circumstances that go into their creation aren’t very kind usually, and if you aren’t careful you might just bring those back up.” The exposition behind whatever plan the lycan had in mind sent him back into thought at just what everything meant and where to go with it. “Well, depending how much you care to keep the crime rings around we could try inciting a gang war massive enough to get people to evacuate. Then we give the civilians the proper routes out and they probably won’t return until everything gets trashed if it does.” His conjecture ended with a short pause before he shrugged, “Honestly I’d prefer to cut straight to the source of the problem and destroy whatever plans are there to flood the city in the first place. That will take some digging though.”

Desparrow paced around the other slowly, "I understand your directness, but the problem is that I don't have the information. A man named barnabas was under my employ but I haven't heard from him, he was a good spy. Though I think he may be gone from the lands. I have no way of getting information about Zirael. I don't know what's coming except a mermaid with a hate for cenril and she has a lot of magic. I don't know if she has an army or if she'd going to throw a tital wave at the city. I just don't know. The best I can come up with at the time is get the people out, and if the gangs fight each other that isn't my problem, I want to preserve the culture and history of Cenril so it can be rebuilt proper. When the time comes if necessary."

Linn nodded at the continued explanations, his foot tapping idly. “I’d offer to help as another spy but I’ve got my own worries out west of here. If we have to go blindly then an evacuation is probably our best bet. We just have to make sure it’s done properly.” He chewed his lip slightly, “First thing to do is to get a good read on the mayor if he will work with us or if he has to be overridden if the time comes.” An assassination was currently rather low on his list of potential methods, so for now he’d decide to stick to general needs. “I just don’t want to make a drastic move until we know our problem is coming. Keep an eye out and I’m sure you will find if we actually need to go through with all of this before it’s too late.”

Desparrow smiled knowing that of course Linn would look at it with a cool head. In fact it was calming. "Surely. I understand your point of view. I am blind right now, and yeah, I will look into the mayor more deeply, I just want to do what we need to earlier, banking on the hope we do it before Zirael makes a move. I'll hear more in a couple days I think, hopefully. Maybe the wind will whisper something to me. I just don't want to be too late to do anything. And have no one be there when I need it."

Linn returned Desparrow’s smile with one of his own, a mark of anticipation in his features, if just for the challenge of all this. “Yep. Just remember what you’re going to need to succeed how you want. Get things ready for a fast response, and if we really have to, keep it all in the shadows waiting for when it’s needed. People –wanting- to cohere with the plan also really helps. Hopefully we get enough signs that will let us find what’s going on with the whole drowning deal and cut that right at the source. That’ll make things a lot easier…” he trailed off with a light shake of his head. “Well, thanks for letting me know about the stuff going on. And about the mana crystals, I’ll see you soon on that topic.” He ended on a stern note, the lycan still not entirely let off the hook for his secrecy dealing with such a material. “If that’s everything, then I should get going.” He cast his gaze up to the sky, “It’s getting late. We can see each other again another time.”

Desparrow nodded, "That is all there is for now. You aren't the only one that got a letter. There is a group of us, and like I said there are a couple things already in place. Just a matter of when we can all get together, get on the same page, organize our moves. That is all." he knew there were no spies listening in on their conversation, who would after all. Just the ramblings of Desparrow whose reputation as a person has been kept in poor light for a good reason, so that any of his dealings would be seen as the antics of the incompetent. "It is late, and certainly, We will see each other again, possibly soon. Probably in fact if I can get all of us together. Then we can all have a big secret tea party. Though I also hopefully will also have new information." His smile widened, nodded his head in parting and went on his way.

Linn snorted at the idea of a big secret tea party, or just the phrasing. “Alright. When you settle on a meeting time you know how to reach me. See you later!” With a smile and a nod of his own he turned to go west to Xalious and then Frostmaw with a wave of farewell.
