RP:Des Finds an Assassin

From HollowWiki

Desparrow was stopping for the night in his little patch of territory he carved out of the forest. It was marked by of course the thick lupine scent, and the various piles of bones from kills, the gore and furs hanging from tree limps where corpses had been impaled, so on so forth. Abnormally large mana-gorged wolves prowled the area, part of Des' pack. He sat like a king upon a pile of bones resting in his thoughts. The patch for a good mile plus was all his, and he had plans for expansion. There was just so much going on.

Kaiah had found herself roaming away from Enchantment with a bottle of wine in her satchel to steal away for the eatery back in Larket. This part of the land was unfamiliar. The woman was only good with Kelay, Cenril, and Larket, and from time to time she had found herself getting lost on multiple occasions. The forest was not… an ideal situation for her. The woman had her palm wrapped around a cup with a lid of steaming coffee for her travels home. This was to help keep her awake and aware of her surroundings. The black coffee also helped the edge and the pressure she always felt. As she moves deeper in the forest, she comes across the border line of fur pelts hanging over tree limbs and bones on the ground. There was a curse word that slipped out from underneath her breath. “What the hell?” Her voice is a quiet whisper and she looks forward and checks her surroundings – she is alert.

Kaiah was being watched from the moment she stepped into the territory of Des' pack. Large wolves almost as tall on all fours as any man were watching from concealment of the forest itself. The nature of the environment, the atmosphere was dark, eerie. With keen eyes she'd see the shadows skulking about and see the light of the moon reflected in their eyes. Howls would be heard, echoing back to Des letting him know of an intruder. They wouldn't make any advances but a response from their alpha and soon they would start to guide her, blocking paths by simply walking through them unless she decided to go anyways in which case they would blatantly get in her way. The wolves had every intention of bringing her to their alpha, Desparrow himself.

Kaiah drops her mug and lets the coffee spill over as the wolves prove to her that they are there with their howls and their glowing eyes. The steam swirls underneath her feet. Her olive eyes narrow. She turns in various directions as they creep within the shadows of the night. She honestly just wants to go home. Why does stuff like this always happen? (like really, what the heck?) She tries to back track her steps, but unfortunately, wolves block the way and lead her towards a new path. They were not threatening, she has seen a rabid wolf, but she was cautious with her moves. However, there was no one to really… save her if anything did happen. Just herself. Which… might be enough. Either way, soon enough, she is walking a moonlight path and comes along the pile of bones. Her stature remains calm, but there are prickles on the back of her neck, and her heartbeat is jumping just a tad faster than normal. All that human reaction stuff.

When Kaiah reached the spot where she was meant to be, the place the wolves led her Desparrow was nowhere to be seen but he was around. In fact Kaiah might be surprised to know he was closer than anyone would know. When she arrived Des would silently creep barefoot, steps muffled by his practice and by the soft undergrowth, the moss that cushioned his feet. He was inches from her, the imposing presence of the alpha, his height, his demanding existence and commanding aura. He was overbearing and his breath out of nowhere would be hot on her neck. "What are you doing.. in my forest young girl?" he was young too but covered in scars. Shirtless, from head we started analyzing them. He was missing the top half of his left ear, a scar ran from his temple along the jaw line; a scar over his heart where a pupil ran him through with a sword; an 'A' engraved by a dagger into his left hip; the most noticeable beyond his ear of course was the large crimson crescent moon on his chest. With all of it though his fine elven features gave way to a handsome man, if not dangerous.

Kaiah is staring at the pile of bones. Is this what they were leading her to? Why? There was long silence and she looks from left to right. Should she be scared? These bones were from past lives… death. Nothing new to her. She stares hard at the sight before feeling the hot breath trickle down the back of her neck. Her light brown hair was tangled and entwined into a messy braid. She then recognizes the tall shadow, and can actually feel his warm presence behind her, hovering over her – attempting to intimidate her. “Young girl… Girl… No. Woman,” her back his facing him still. She was shorter than him, of course. She had long legs. She had a nose stud and wore black stretchy leggings with black boots, she had a grey v-neck shirt that hung loose on her torso with a jean-like jacket that hung over her shoulders, a red plaid cotton shawl hangs over her shoulders as well for extra warmth and a brown leather bag that is hanging off one shoulder, one hand wrapped around the strap to steady herself. A simple attire. She wanted to remain ordinary, but she was still a pretty little thing. But underneath the garments was another story with markings and her personality really did not match her pretty natural face. “I don’t see a sign saying that it’s your forest,” she is not sassy, her voice is actually monotone

Desparrow chuckled, his voice low, deep and like gravel. "Oh, its mine. Marked, but I wouldn't expect a-" he took a deep inhale of her scent, "Human to be able to tell." He stepped out from behind her, lean muscled figure, a commanding presence, an alpha of a male when he wanted to be. "You wandered into my territory, and ignorance of the fact is no excuse for doing it. Now you know, what will you do about it? You seem to be a strong -girl- you could be of use to me. Good use in fact but you are after all a girl. I don't know, my experience with them shows they just aren't as capable. In some things." he chuckled, intentionally poking, seeing reactions, his tuned senses picking up twitches, changes in emotional state, subtle movents and alterations in body chemistry that would cause an odor. The lycanthrope moved back to his pile of bones and sat down, multiple pieces crunching under the force of his body. "Tell me your name 'girl'." his bright cerulean eyes looked her over, waiting for something spectacular. Multiple wolves were circling the small clearing, stalking from the shadows.

Kaiah ’s eyes narrow as he begins to chuckle and speak again. The woman quirks her brow as he mentions her being just a ‘human’. Sure. He got her pinned as something ordinary, which pleased her, but this was probably not the best scenario for forcing the norm. Olive eyes flick over the scarred man, scrutinizing each scar on his face and body. Handsome, no doubt, but Kaiah does not read into it as much as she focuses on the situation at hand. “Use for you?” She shakes her head. “I’m nobody’s puppet.” Or was she? Her eyes that were narrowed then release into an expressionless state. Something that was taught. She begins to think… She seemed to be her father’s puppet from time to time and this made her sick. It was about time someone else had taken the strings, not that she wanted that. As he mentions that she is just a ‘girl’ that irritates her, and the fact he speaks of them not being capable also itches at her skin. Her hands twitch from time to time, but she remains steady. “Kai…” It’s simple and short. Expressing her full name would be a mistake, especially for the sake of her ‘norm’ state back in Larket.

Desparrow couldn't help but grin, showing off engorged incisors. "Look, I'll make myself clear. I'm Des. You look like you could be of use to me, what can you do?" he had a more stern voice now, and with a stomp there was a loud crash as magical power radiated from his form, surging through the ground. "I'm the alpha of this pack. Sorcerer, fighter, to be ruler. Though I need help." another chuckle passed his lips. "You looke lithe, but strong. What do you do?"

Kaiah blinks at the alpha trying to force answers out of her. As he stomps, a hand goes to her collar bone. “I’m a waitress,” lies. She baked and cooked at an eatery, but still stretching the truth. She had other talents – dark talents. “I collect wine. That’s what I was doing, eh? That’s why I’m in your forest.” Might have to try a little harder to shake the truth out of this one.

Desparrow sighed, vanishing from sight. Again he'd be behind her and lifted his hands to be on either side of her head. "Allow myself to show you why you should listen." Seconds would pass but as he decided, his will forced itself upon reality and a pocket of it was altered in the form of a blanket of pure darkness. It would wrap around her if she had no protection against it, black out all her senses creating blindness, deafness, and sapping away happy feelings to leave her cold and with nothing but silence and a boding sense of loneliness. This would persist, Des capable of watching her reactions even though she was blacked out from the rest of the world. That is if his spell properly worked.

Besides being what she was, Kaiah had no magical powers. As he vanishes from sight. The woman is alert again, but she is also timid to move. He was quick. He was something else… She was sure. As he pops up behind her and begins to speak again, she continues with her stubborn attitude and lets his magic release on her. There was not much happiness left in her, and in a way, she was already a lonely girl. The black takes over her sight and then her ears. What was happening? Where was she? She felt empty and sucked dry. He had turned her humanity switch off, even though this could be done without the magic. Just some smooth convincing. Get yourself together, Kaiah. She was obviously no ordinary woman. She was looking for her resources… Something to take note of. If she remembered right… There was something within her coat. A hand slips within her jacket and pulls out a blade. The woman was not positive if he was still behind her, but she would take a turn anyway to take a swing with her dagger. “Y-y-ou son of…” It was hard to talk when she could not hear herself. “Alright!” Her voice sounds off due to the deafness. Her teeth clench, her blind eyes are squinting with eyebrows furrowed. She stares forward.

Desparrow had backed away and it was time to pump up the spell. The knife missed him but with a bit of configuring he amped up the juice and the darkness would lead to a loss of physical sensation, she wouldn't feel like she was in a void, unable to see, hear or feel. Complete blackness. "You can't hear me, but I'll break you." she won't even know she is holding a weapon but her body would still respond to brain stimuli, or would it? He didn't know, never done this before to this extent. "Good luck suffering in your own darkness." Eventually fear would take over, the spell altering to become more offensive the harder she fought. The more it broke her down the deeper it would bore into her psyche and take on the aspects of her fear giving her brain hallucinations of terror. Des simply waited to see how long it took.

Kaiah drops the knife as she loses feeling. Did she drop her knife? What was happening? Did she die? Was this death? Everything was mute. Every switch was shut off in her body. After the sense of touch was gone, her expression says it all. Olive blind eyes are wide, she looks horrified. But she tries to move, but how does she move? She’s stepping forward though, but she falls to the ground, she does not feel this... She is fighting this clearly and it takes minutes for her mind to break down and unfold. A night terror, which she came across often in her daily life, is now slowly playing like a movie reel. Her mind is picturing blood, suffering souls. Her mind is now picturing fire, her very own torture, her very own memory. Could she remember how her skin burned? Could she feel this? Probably not. Just the thought of her mind suffering. She only had her thoughts left. In his view, she would be hyperventilating now. Sweat was dripping from her face, her face was flushed. How does she scream if she cannot feel her scream? Is she screaming? She was screaming… Then, there is abrupt silence. She lays there motionless, eyes are open, and her mouth is gaped. This was the worst suffering she had ever had. Something to add to the list of night terrors.

Desparrow stepped towards her, watching the woman crumble. It left a sick grin on his face, the sight thoroughly enjoyed. When she was on the ground and her mouth was open he felt a drop of pity for her. This was the potency of his spell? It was something he would use again, not on her, this was merely an experiment but it was a testament to the power he had over others when his magic bore into their minds. Stepping to her he swiped his hand over, whisking away the darkness all at once shocking her back into the current reality. All senses would return like a punch to the gut. Sight, touch, and smell all returning. She was back on the forest. "You now realize your position. I am -not- just a man, I'm not just the alpha of this pack. You can play my game, or I guess we can try other things. Up to you." his back was facing her now in fact he was walking back to his stack of bones to take another seat. Eyes stared at her, waiting for an answer.

Kaiah sucked in a giant breath as he took the magic away. It was a relief to see and hear and feel. She was still in a panic. The cold sweat was still on her forehead. She was looking around for his voice, his back faced towards her. She was shaken, this was written all over the poor young woman’s face. “W-what do you want from me?” She could not look at him, he had broken her down just a little bit more than she already was. After a few breaths, her face mellows into that expressionless gaze. She still does not look at him, but her face is stone.

Desparrow was strong, he has been practicing his magic in these lands for more than a decade. "I want to know what you are capable of. Prove your worth." he chuckled. The uses he could have for her. "I don't know your particular skill, but I want you to do something for me. You see I have a plan to take over Cenril, you are going to be my associate in the shadows." his command was going to be simple. Linn didn't want to involve murder but Des wasn't as good as his friends thought he was. "I want the mayor dead. Quiet, quick, kill him. If you can't do that, then you are of no use to me, though that doesn't mean I'd kill you."

Kaiah , this whole time, is completely still as he speaks. Soft breaths. The steam parting from her lips as she stares into that single spot. ‘Quiet, quick, kill him…’ The woman wants to cringe. No more gore… No more suffering. The woman then turns her head, olive eyes finally landing on his scarred frame. She almost wanted to spit at him, but she holds her actions. She is timid, scared if the magic would come again if she bites back. A hand would slowly reach towards her collar bone out of a nervous habit, itching at it until it turns red. “When do you… want me to… do it?” and now the strings were his.

Desparrow chuckled. "In a day or two. When I hear the winds speak to me again. Just wait for my letter." he grinned, "Stick around if you want. I have your scent, I'll find you when I need to. Don't worry about that." He stood up, preparing to leave. He had to go hunt. "Prove your worth to me, and I will grant you powers you can't fathom."

Kaiah stares at his every move as he begins to leave. The fact that he would be able to hunt her down was nerve-wracking. There was no words for him. She knew when to hold her tongue. She would then slowly get up and search for her dagger before stuffing it in her jacket again. Once he would leave, she would be headed the opposite way – quicker than usual.

Desparrow offered the woman a cheshire cat's smile, "Just wait for my word. It will come and then the fun will really begin. We are going to have a lot of fun. If you are worth your salt, oh the fun things we will do together. Especially when you are like me, another creature of the night with immeasurable irresistable power." his voice was venomous but not with malcontent but with greed and a lust for blood. "We will shake the throne of God and make the heavens tremble!"

Kaiah blinked, and she slowly starts backing away. “Just… just… seek me out,” she seems uncomfortable. Full of shame and anxiousness from his words. Did she even want this? Was she allowed to think about this? Was he going to force this upon her? Death was one thing. Power was another. “I don’t think I want to be like… you… I’m not meant for.. power.” What did she get wrapped up into?

Desparrow dismissed her defiance. "I'll find you, and at this point, its just a big game and you are going to be a big piece, one of the best. I will entreat you with gifts that are befitting a master of death like yourself. Magical powers, eternal life, and end to your personal suffering, joy? The power to completely wipe your enemies from existence. Stick with me kid, and I'll take you places you never imagined. Screw those dead vampires, we are lords of the living night. They have the undead, we have the beasts that are more than capable of tearing them apart. Trust me. You'll want this."

Kaiah shakes her head, the slightest bit of stubborn from this woman comes back. “For one, I’m not a kid. And two, just leave me out of this after everything is done. I want everything back to how I had things… That’s the gift you can give me. You don’t know what my personal suffering is, nor will you ever have a clue,” her eyebrows narrow, and her fist clenches around the strap of her bag again, but out of frustration.

Desparrow just laughed as he started to walk away. "Oh don't worry, by the time we get to it, you will -want- what I'm offering. Or, maybe you won't have a choice, but trust me Kai. You will be surprised." He radiated power, it was something about him that aura of confidence, and that overbearing magical presence. "As for now, good night."

Kaiah was in a whirlwind. She had just entered her worst nightmare. She groans once he says ‘good night’. She felt sick like she was going to vomit, and that is what she will do when she is in a safer environment. She then pivots and disappears within the forest to get out for the night and back to Larket where she belonged. For now, anyway…
