RP:Blue Dragon, All for the Price of Emptiness

From HollowWiki

Synopsis: Tiber has had this egg for however long and needs to get rid of it. Kailani is eager. Tiber asks for gold and a bottle. Kailani offers... an empty bottle. Thanks, Kailani. The two obviously do not understand each other, but somehow the sarcasm works.

Calling Merchants

Tiber was out of the disguise that he wore in the tavern as his other alias. Instead he wears his normal business-esc clothing. A button up, a tie, slacks, loafers. He keeps a leather satchel at his side that hid all the garments and… other treasures. The discovery of the ritzy town was a great one. Mostly because it was easier to scam students in college, especially when Tiberius looked so wise and charming to the younger crowd, yet stood out among the avians. He picks a far corner. “Step right up, for what I have today will appeal to most eyes,” his Catalian accent floods the crowded air. “Are you adventurous? Looking for your inner thrill? To master a technique? To score a worthy companion?” With each question, he looks to a different individual. “Well, do I have one –hot- item today,” there is a hesitation with the statement, “or maybe cold,” he clears his throat. Then, with the anticipation, he reveals… a blue dragon egg. There are some faint awes, but… the thought of a dragon egg among –avians- was probably a ridiculous idea. Perhaps it was the whiskey thoughts, though today the whiskey was at least masked by the smell of peppermint that made the whiskey smell of cinnamon with a mixture of sun and soap.

Kailani would not be one of the first faces to join the crowd that Tiber is trying to pull toward him with his hyped up words. The druid herself is usually in the market of trying to sell exotic items to help pay for the few goods that she cannot easily make herself, armor for example. She's not usually here to procure items for herself, and most stalls don't even catch her fancy. Most stalls don't carry dragon eggs like the one that Tiber is trying to pawn off. The blue-haired druid joins the crowd only once she catches sight of the egg. Kailani makes no attempt to hide her disapproval as she tries to nudge her way to the front of the crowd. If she recognized Tiber without his disguise, she makes no show of it...but she has not connected those dots. Tiber, on the other hand, probably can easily identify her. How many women had hair the shade of blue that she did? With a frown on her face, Kailani points to the egg and hopes that her voice is loud enough to be heard despite the chatter of the crowd. "Where did you come by this? How long have you had it? And, how much?"

Tiber has a wide grin spread across his face as he stares at the crowd around him. “I know, folks, I know,” and then there is a voice that is hard to depict from the crowd. For Kailani’s sake, she was lucky she was heard and lucky the lycan had those thick senses. The familiarity of the blue hair comes into his gaze and the grin becomes even bigger. Like a boy window gazing at a new toy. “Ah,” he blocks out the others. The blue is striking. “Well, wouldn’t that hair go nicely with this little… guy? Gal? We don’t know,” his tone makes it a mystery as he tries to amp the appeal. The con man tries to avoid the questions a little longer because he is… dramatic and a sucker for a curious gaze. Especially from those who were… quieter. Not that he would really know, for Kailani only seemed this way in the tavern. A lonesome spirit. “You look like you can use a companion,” that grin fades into an easy smile. “Well,” eyes kind of trail over the egg. “A few weeks or maybe two? I really lose count of the days. And the wilderness, of course. Rynvale. The land of dragons.” But how? He keeps it surface-level. “500 g, love,” if the price was too high… well… it could be easily persuaded. After all, why would he want to take care of a dragon? He was just a gold digger.

Kailani :: Haggling came a bit more naturally for Kailani when she was the one who had the product for purchase, and even then...she wasn't really haggling? She was just speaking truths. If a merchant did not give her a price she approved of, then she'd move on to one who would. Even then, that was not a tactic that Kailani practiced often because she was not materialistic enough to care. Her need for gold was minimal, especially when compared to someone like Tiber. The blue-haired woman is quiet when he explains the details of where the egg came from and how much it is selling for. She has never purchased or sold a dragon egg before. It's better that Tiber keeps the 'how' to himself, especially from Kailani. The level of her disapproval was fairly minimal right now, hearing that he murdered a bunch of dragons to make this happen would only upset the druid. Not that she could do much about it now. While Kailani stands there in silence to try and determine if the price was fair, others around her are whispering among themselves in consideration. She was not the only one interested, which meant she needed to be the first person to speak up to try and keep this from turning into a bidding war. "Fine. A deal for 500 gold."

Tiber :: The whispers from the crowd at the price create a dance of amusement. Suckers, man. He would have gave it away for half that, for he hated animals and creatures of the sort. Pets were not his forte. Speaking of which, he needs to get back to Cenril to feed a damned cat that was a love-hate relationship. “Oh, you make me want to bid now,” he smirks and looks at the egg and then the druid again. It was tempting, yet… there was something eating in the back of his mind. A nagging voice, almost. Kailani was not the only lover of nature. Tiber then casts his gaze to some avians and then some other randoms that are in the crowd. “Then again, I think it’ll have a good home,” even if he was snarky and full of himself, there was a soft edge in his tone briefly. If it was not for the hypothetical thought of Lanara disapproving of him stealing an egg, he would have started the war. If it was a sell of something else, he would have immediately—nagging thoughts or not. “Discount of 50 off if you have a bottle on you,” he wiggles his brows towards Kailani before yelling, “Sold! To the girl with the blue hair. Now the rest of the lot of you, leave,” he would call out with a dismissing wave. The crowd slowly begins to disperse to other vendors. “You’re not some wickedly evil chick I’m about to give this egg too, are you? Don’t need –another- villain in Lithrydel.”

Kailani is currently struggling to process all that is Tiber right about now. Didn't they just make a deal? Why was he making jokes about making bids? Kailani's brows furrow together out of confusion, because she's really not entirely sure if she should be getting frustrated, or if this is a joke. Or what. The feelings of exasperation intensify when Tiber starts in with his brow wiggling but they are completely forgotten when Tiber makes mention of having a bottle. Does Kailani have a bottle? Why yes! It's just...probably not the type of bottle that Tiber wants. Tiber busies himself trying to disperse the crowd after finalizing the sale and Kailani...? Well she has a matter of gold to deal with. The druid plops down onto the ground in a cross-legged position and begins to rummage through her stuff. The gold takes a bit to put together, but she'll manage. "I don't know," Kailani says in response to if she is evil or not, "I think maybe you should have considered that a bit more thoroughly before selling me this egg, don't you?" She definitely was not giving off evil vibes right now, just sarcastic ones. Kailani stands and holds out a bag of coin and...an empty glass bottle to Tiber. It's not even an empty whiskey bottle, just a plain, clear, unmarked, and empty glass bottle.

Tiber’s eyes wander until they look down on the woman… on the ground? “Well, I don’t have the gold yet, do I?” There was a bit of bickering banter, though her sarcasm was refreshing and taken lightly. He sort of stares down at her a moment longer before amber eyes stare at the egg again. She stands and she is met with impassive eyes and a flat line on his lips. Eyes are then met with the bottle. “You’re kidding, right?” He still holds the egg and his brow furrows. “A girl with blue hair doesn’t have –alcohol-?” He translates his prior offer for a discount before blowing a breath. Well, the bottle was the exact thing he asked for, so could he blame her? Yes, but the crowd left and… she does not look like the insane type. “Fine,” he says in a mild pout, but his expression is hard again. Next time, he will know to be clearer with words when selling. “Enjoy your dragon. Blue, by the way. Hope to see you soar with happiness,” his tone is monotone, “Literally.” Dry humor.

Kailani :: Why would having blue hair guarantee that she would have alcohol? What does this even mean? It is painfully obvious that Tiber and Kailani come from two very different worlds and that just about half of what he says is lost upon her. There is a part of Kailani that is sorely tempted to ask just what he means by that statement...but ultimately she gives into the side that is not sure she wants to know. Maybe she'd be better off without this knowledge. Maybe it would be better to just take her recently purchased egg from Tiber and depart the area, to go hug a tree or something. "You are very confusing, but I feel like you hear this a lot." Probably a bit ironic, coming from Kailani. "Pleasure doing business with you. I promise I won't really use this dragon for any evil plots." The druid nods firmly and then moves to depart to quieter areas.

Tiber :: One would not know if it was a stereotypical boy factor, or if it was just a name he was calling her because he did not know her. Either way, one day, the mystery would be solved—maybe. Her last statement makes the lycan grin. “Ay, and by that, you’re correct says the girl wanting a random dragon.” There is a pause, “Pleasure. And I’m glad that Lithrydel is at least safe from one more person. Yada, yada,” he sort of waves her off now. As for him, it was time to go home to feed the damn cat.
