Summary: Scandal throws a semi-formal oceanside party in Cenril and announces that he plans on opening a restaurant, The Salty Seamen, as well as a bar, A Sinful Swallow. Many are in attendance and are eager to see the city thrive with an upperclass establishment.

Scandal :: The event upon the beach was casual and yet also mildly formal, there were tables laid out with foods over every kind a bar stand had been hastily set out on the short notice and now, was being straightened out, there were no bouncers on the beach to make it a private party, it was public, even some bards had been hired out, to play music for the gathering event, tables were set up a bin was full of beach toys for adults and the younger, it didn’t seem to matter to whoever who had set it up or rather to wonder if there was any preset style to those who came, but the host, Scandal stood in casual but well dressed suit, and a smile, shaking the hands who would come to the event, announcing as he did, “Food is free, drinks are on the house, games you bring or are in need of are prepared and waiting, we have volleyball and the like, and a net has been prepared at this part of the shore to keep out the unfriendly fish life so you may swim in peace. Come one come all, it doesn’t matter whether you’re in a suit jacket or a swim suit, or even none, whatever you be, come as you are.”

Magik hasn't quite made it to the party just yet. With Rinn clinging to his back, he stops and mumbles something quietly to her, trying to avoid detection.

Talyara sat at her desk in the main office at Kuruni's Sanctuary having a discussion with her niece Natianara when Venin came in and thrust a letter in her hand. It was a note from her brother inviting her to a get together at the beach in Cenril for fun and refreshments. The witch didn't really want to go (she had become a bit of a recluse since her kidnapping) but Nat had seemed so excited about the idea so naturally she conceded to go. Plus, she would get to see and support Scandal. She arrives arm in arm with her niece, clad in a pair of denim shorts, strappy sandals, and a long sleeved purple flannel shirt that had the top couple of buttons unlooped and the bottom tied up to reveal her naval. "Stay away from the Whaler's while you're in Cenril," she murmurs to Nat. "Lots of troublesome folk there."

Natianara strolls along the beach beside Talyara, their arms linked as they engage in chitchat on their way to Scandal’s oceanside party. The woman is giddy and practically skipping towards those gathered, as she takes in the display of fine food, drink, and the various games that had been set up for their perusal. Nat’s poor aunt has little choice but to play along with her niece’s infections excitement as she kicks up sand and pauses to point at literally everything she rests her periwinkle eyes upon. “Ooh look at that pink seashell! And the sun is so beautiful as it sets in the background! Auntie Taly, we –must- play that game with the ball and the net! And look at those people in the ocean! They are playing some sort of rooster game! I don’t think anyone here would let me sit on their shoulders… And you are far too tiny, but I guess you could sit on mine if you wanted to pretend you have talons and knock some girl into the water…” She’s babbling, as she often does when having one of many ‘first’ experiences. Donning a pair of denim shorts that showcase her long toned legs, an orange bikini top, and wearing nothing on her feet, save for a simple bracelet about her ankle; she looked like she was ready for an evening on the beach. “Ooh a bonfire! I hope we can make s’mores!” Scandal is noticed immediately, and the shapeshifter lifts her hand in greeting, “Hi, Uncle Randall! We made it!” It seems that Talyara had gotten word of the impromptu party and since Nat had gotten her proof that the dragon was truly her mother’s adopted brother, she had begged to tag along. “Auntie, let’s go and try one of those fruity drinks! And… The Whalers? I’ve heard rumors about that place… We should go sometime, I mean, just to check it out, you know?” Of course, now that she was warned, she would go and investigate so it was best for her aunt to just come along and chaperone.

Rinn would spank her husband along the way paired with a, "Ya, mule." Eventually her eyes confirmed Magik's words, "Or whatever." She'd mimic with a laugh. Slowly she'd pull herself up to whisper back to Magik, sealing her secret with a tongue in his ear.

Scandal smiled to each one of the guests that arrived, or at least all that came his way from the beach entrance, kind of hard to walk around the place, until he was sure everyone had been greeted. For a dragon he was very human in his appearance tonight. six foot five, and with a short spike in the front hair that was color of fiery red, and the tip orange. like a flame, his dark red eyes occasionally flashing with glow, indicated the human was more than human. He wore button down collared shirt, and brown pants, a smile on his face, and well bare feet, as it was of course sand, and nothing like breaking the ice by dropping a little of the formality. "Hey Nat, Taly, great to see, you please help yourself to the food and to wine, and to whatever delights you, tonight all who come deserve some fun." It was no lie all things past in the past few months, maybe Lithrydel needed some fun.

Magik smirks to himself before continuing his hushed conversation with his wife.

Talyara simply nods along with Natianara's observations, making small "uh huh" and "mhm" responses as she attempts to remain engaged. It was truly endearing to see her charmed by the simplest things in life but it was still hard for Taly to see the beauty in mundane things after all she had gone through the past several months. After Scandal greets everyone she lifts a hand and waves towards her brother, a smile tugging on the corners of her mouth. "Hey Scandal! Thanks for throwing this together. A relaxing night is much needed." The witch turns her attention back to Nat who continues to babble endlessly about everything she wants to do, her steps faltering when she mentions the game of chicken which she has obviously misunderstood. Taly cannot help but chuckle, shaking her head and causing her unruly curls to fall over her shoulder. "Let's get something to eat and drink and then we'll play a game, alright?"

Rinn planted a giant smooch on Magik's cheek, "One of the million reasons I adore you." She swooned lovingly before finally finding her footing once again. The crowd gathered would earn a slow once over before Magik was the center of her universe again, "Perfection." She mused before lacing her fingers with husband's to tug him toward the open bar, "Ooh rum."

Natianara doesn’t mean to come across as a complete moron, as someone her age shouldn’t be so easily distracted by the simplest of things, but it’s truly not her fault. She may appear to physically and mentally be in her early twenties, but she’s only been alive for about four years, due to being magically aged. Taking a sip of her apple wine, she scans the crowd to offer a smile to any familiar faces, though her gaze is repeatedly drawn to the magnificence of the picturesque sunset. A server offers a shrimp to the elves, and Nat plucks one from the platter, biting into the tail and scowling as it nearly cuts her tongue. “What is this, Auntie?” She grumbles until Taly shows her the appropriate way to eat one, and follows suit. “Did Lana enjoy the beach?” It’s the first she’s asked about her mother, since confessing her origin to Taly, and she speaks in a low voice, so that no eavesdroppers raise a brow. Scandal’s message is met with a warm smile and she nods, hoping that fun was on the menu, because she wasn’t a fan of the shrimp.

Scandal smiled to himself as he watched them go, and while he was observant for more than those who had already come, he passed the position on to one of the chefs who had helped come prepare the food as he migrated around seeing how everyone was doing, the first by proceeding to bar and making a note of Rinn and Magik. "A good evening, drinks are on the house, and no limit, and if you’re into I may have snuck some gold into hidden places throughout if you like that little treasure hunt, it was made for those who enjoy it." He winked, and retrieved his cinnamon spiced bourbon, a drink he never seemed to stop drinking, and then he would move, about check in on others, and before proceeding to Talyara and Natianara. "I am so happy you two could make it out, maybe a game of rooster is in order Nat." He smiled before hugging Talyara. "You have been through so much, it was pleasure trying to bring this little bit of fun into this group."

Magik studied the crowd just as carefully as Rinn. He pays particular attention to the small assortment of alcohol. The Lyastri grumbles to himself about a lack of blood wine as he's pulled to the bar. His demeanor quickly changes, "Mmm, rum." He plops his rump onto the bar top before speaking in a hushed tone again.

Talyara opts for a glass of crisp refreshing white wine for herself as she keeps a cautious eye on Natianara. The last thing she needed was her young niece to overindulge on alcohol. She was a chatterbox without drink so who knew what a tipsy Nat would entail! Seeing as shrimp is one of her favorites, she eagerly accepts one and goes to take a bite of the pink flesh when the shapeshifter chomps on the sharp tail. Talyara has to swallow her initial urge to laugh before she holds up her own seafood and shows Nat the proper way. "Here, like this. We don't eat the shells or the tails. Just the soft, meaty part." Talyara is eyeing the next server to see if they have some more prawns when Natianara surprises her by asking about Lanara. The witch had made a promise to herself that she wouldn't push her niece, she would allow her to open up at her own pace. The inquiry about Lana is a bittersweet one. While it's hard to think about her sister who is still alive but long gone to her, it also conjures up good and happy memories of the pair playing in the sand and splashing in the waves. "Yes. She loved the beach very much. We used to come to Cenril and cause all kinds of trouble. And as you can see it's beautiful here."

Rinn hopped on Magik's lap. Since the two had met Rinn had found her new permanent perch. "Don't fret, my love. Alcohol is a blood thinner." The vampire would receive a wink before addressing Scandal, "Thank you for your hospitality."

Scandal smiled listening to the two, and when they were done he would taste the food, that is until he came to the venison. "Venison, Venison? Oh come on, you don't dry out a piece of this meat." He shook his head, another note to jot down when serving that. He borrowed a glass, figure this be a time as any those who stayed could linger those that played it might be sooner, this was the only important part he needed to do, so he ringed a glass to gather attention. "Just a little speech for everyone. I don't want to ruin the evening so I'll keep it less than five minutes."

Natianara is rapidly sipping the sweet wine, and she eagerly plucks another from a passing tray as she listens intently to her aunt. She wasn’t going to try another of those prawns, as it took quite a bit of courage to swallow the first one. It was a rubbery meat, and she preferred a medium rare steak to seafood on any given day. Thankfully, they pass another table and this one has beef, which would sate the appetite of the wolf in her veins. “Ah! This looks tastier then that shelled thing you keep eating.” It’s practically mooing, though Nat closes her eyes as she tastes the delicious fillet mignon on her tongue, savoring the flavor. The comment about Lanara loving the beach doesn’t come as a surprise, though she’s eager to hear about the trouble that Taly mentions. Was her mother a mischief maker? “Trouble? What sort of trouble?” There’s a short pause as Scandal comes over to check on his family, and she gently squeezes his upper arm, “Thank you for having us. It’s the –perfect- location for a party! I’ve never been to anything like this before, and I’m eager to play volleyball and a game of ostrich!” She would never learn that water game, unless she actually partook in the festivities, it seemed. “We need more people to join in on the fun! Also… I have your talisman to return to you, and I’m sorry that I doubted your words.” The magical amulet is handed over, before she meets Taly’s emerald hues, “This place is beautiful… And you and mother are so lovely, too… I wish I was a full Kelvarian, rather than part of you-know-who.” The thought of Desparrow brings a grimace to her face, though it’s washed away with another glass of apple wine.

Magik wraps his arms about Rinn's waist, offering the same respect to Scandal but in the form of a nod. He attention is drawn back to Rinn immediately, "But don't assume..."

Talyara smiles when her brother approaches, doubling her grip on her glass of wine as she wraps her arms around Scandal to return the embrace. "Thank you so much for inviting us! It's hard for me to face the outside world lately but I guess it's kind of important, huh?" she muses with a bit of sadness in her tone. Her emerald gaze shifts over to the bar where a familiar red head cuddles up to a man and they partake in the refreshments before her focus is drawn back to Natianara. The witch wrinkles her nose as her niece grabs another wine from a passing waiter but she quickly takes it away and discards it on a nearby table. "You need to drink water," she says gently. "Whenever you have a drink of alcohol, especially when you're not used to it, you need to keep hydrated otherwise you will get sick." Hopefully, Nat doesn't fight her on this as she seems preoccupied with the rare cooked meat. Taly opts to scour the tables for vats of soup, hoping Scandal was able to procure some of the seafood bisque that she was so fond of; however, it seems she will have to do without this evening. Perhaps she can stop at a nearby establishment and get a cup to go before they leave Cenril. As Nat inquires as to the trouble she and Lanara used to get up to, she is saved from having to answer, at least at this moment, as Scandal grabs a glass and taps against it to draw everyone’s attention. With a gentle nudge to her niece, she inclines her chin in her brother's direction and waits for his announcement.

Natianara falls silent as her adopted uncle prepares to give his speech, curiosity getting the best of her, and replacing the desire to frolic in the sea. “I wonder what’s going on…?” She whispers to Taly, her gaze traveling over the crowd of those gathered, all who eagerly await Scandal’s words. A curt nod is given to Rinn and Magik, the couple that is engaging in a constant display of public affection, both of whom are strangers to the witch. She would have mingled in the crowd, but she didn’t want to interrupt their romantic exchange, and the others in the area didn’t seem as approachable.

Magik happened to catch Natianara's nod, offering her a soft smile in return. His dark eyes meet Rinn's once more before taking his shot and placing the empty glass back on the bartop, unlike how he normally treats his empty shot glasses. That should have answered his wife's question as he throws in a wink as well.

Scandal smiled when he had everyone’s attention, or what he presumed was. "So I am sure you have all wondered why someone would have gone to the trouble of party that all were invited too, and while I would like to say it might have been out of the goodness of the heart that is not entirely the case. For those of us who have been here in the past few months and those who have known and reconciled with the events of the year, and to which all have been here to enjoy, this party was for you, to remind all that in these lands of harsh punishment and endless troubles, we can find time to gather and be well, civil. All of us here come from different walks of life, some may have been harder than others, and some may be enemies or friends, or even strangers we have not met yet. This party is to remind us that Lithrydel in all of its troubles and standing times, that we remember those who are not with us, those we treasured, and those we hated, they all played a part in our lives, and it all led us to who we are today. For some of us that maybe a discerning thought, to others its maybe gratitude but it takes all sorts to make a whole, and Lithrydel you have led us all, to be who are to be and who we desire to be." He paused, mocking himself that he ought to have closed on that, but he needed to put in his other reason. "So lastly before you all wish to make the most of your evening be it games, food, or seafood bisque, there is some over there, might have to lift the tablecloth got a whole other layer food under the table on the second shelf." He said with a laugh, "Too long, has it been for Cenril, to be without its own fancy dining, two long as the Whaler's bar been the sole establishment to get a beer and drink, and really how many of us still want to hold our parties in a bloodied arena? So I wanted to announce, that I will be opening such a place to public here in Cenril, I have already thought of some names, the Salty Seamen comes to mind, and the Sinful Swallow, until then, May each of you live your lives in a way that brings you joy and happiest, so that we can gather again under a roof, and enjoy a real. *Looks to the catering* a Real feast. Thank you all for coming, you may stay if you wish, or leave, cleaning crew won't be here till morning." He then would walk down from his place, and gather his family, yes his family, his sister and his niece in warm embrace, pocketing the magical talisman of his, that Nat had, “You’re forgiven dear one, even before you walked out of the tavern. Come let’s get some food, and I think I got some towels, how about a little beach trip the three of us?"

Talyara waits patiently for Scandal to make his grand announcement, casually looking over towards a far table she had missed when he mentions that there might be some of her favorite bisque over there, before looking towards the dragon once more. His declaration at a new construction would begin, a grand restaurant a bar, her jaw falls open. She knew Scandal was passionate about businesses--he had grand plans of a bank way back when before she and Lanara had accidentally sent an angry mob to the construction site. She puts her wine glass on a table so she can cheer and whistle raucously when his speech ends and she gives him another embrace when he approaches. "Congratulations, Scandal! This is so exciting! If you need any help, please let me know!" Talyara turns to Natianara and studies her face silently for a few moments. She didn't look much like Lanara but there were certain mannerisms, tiny moments that reminded her of her older sister. "My beauty pales in comparison to your mother's," she admits, tears shining in her eyes as she quickly tries to blink them away. "She was...breathtaking. But you -do- resemble her in different ways. Like when your face was tilted towards the sunset before. Or when you laugh, your eyes crinkle just the way hers do. You are lovely, Natianara. Don't you believe otherwise." A rogue tear drips down her cheek and Taly reaches up to swipe it away before sniffling. "As for the trouble we got into," she says with a mischievous grin. "It would take me -years- to tell you everything we got up to over the years.

Rinn followed Magik's gaze and noted his smile, one that made her chew on the inside of her lip. "Make nice." The bottle is revisited the retired to the bar. "I see you, Magikrois." Her thumb and pointer finger clasped at his jaw pulling eye contact. "I see you." With that she smiled ever-so sweetly before kissing his forehead. "Behave yourself, husband." As she slid from his lap a few more words left her lips. On her way down the beach she'd thank those appropriate for her invitation, "Splended rum, Thank you for your generosity." Those gather would receive a nod and with that the graverobber headed for town.

Natianara nods her head as Scandal delivers a powerful speech, drawing everyone’s attention and applause as he concludes with announcing the opening of the Salty Seamen, the soon-to-be fine dining restaurant in Cenril. Clapping wildly, she nudges Taly, “Uncle Scandal is going to open a restaurant! Maybe he will give me a job?!” As the male pulls them into a hug she returns the affection, “I’m so proud of you! And of course! I’d love to go for a swim!” The fare is forgotten as she shimmies out of her shorts and eyes the length of sand that leads to the water. “So how do we play Emu, again?” Taly replies to a question that she had asked earlier in the evening, and Nat nips her lower lip as her aunt’s eyes brim with tears. She hadn’t meant to bring up painful memories, but how would she ever learn about her parents if she didn’t seek the truth? “I’m sorry…” It’s bittersweet hearing tales about Lanara, her beauty, her antics, and of course, being compared to a woman that had given her life and never knew she existed. “I… I remind you of her?” The words come out in a hurried whisper, as though she were clinging to hope that some of the positive things regarding her mother, she shared. The murderous tendencies, the psychosis, and the darker tales she could live without, but she relished in hearing that she shared the lighter aspects with the elf.

Scandal smiled with his sister and also his niece eager to help, and desiring to have a job. "I tell you what, I will take all the help I can get and when I am done, I will give you a job just you wait." He said, "In the meantime, I think maybe I ought to let the dragon out and be a waterslide for my niece.”

Talyara shakes her head at Scandal's offer to swim, indicating her hidden but bandaged arm. "I'm not in a position to be able to swim or enjoy the water but you two go ahead. I can keep myself busy and -probably- stay out of trouble," she adds with a wink. Natianara's hushed whisper has Taly tilting her head to the side before she gives a slow nod. "Of course you do! It's small things, but it's a lovely reminder for me that while you are your own person, Lanara lives in -you- and I cannot express what a gift that is for me." Talyara pulls Nat into a quick hug and gives a quiet sniffle before pulling back. "Now you go have fun!"

Magik's ferret grabs some goodies on the way out...because he's a fatty.

Magik said, "Classy..."

Natianara gives Talyara a gentle squeeze, returning the embrace and the quiet sniffle, as this wasn’t easy on her either. They were building a relationship with each other, and their bond grew stronger each day, but the mere mention of Lanara was akin to repeatedly tearing open a scab. As the crimson trickled, it both helped to heal, as well as made a bigger scar. “I won’t be long in the water, I promise! Maybe after this we can stop by the Ginger Snapped Bakery I keep hearing about!” A chaste kiss is pressed to Taly’s cheek, before she runs with Scandal down to the water. As he shifts into his dragon form, she considers shifting into one of her own, though she quickly decides against it. Not everyone that had come to this party was a friend, and she didn’t want to show off her secret to those that could use it to harm her or her family. With a gleeful squeal, she leaps into the water and splashes Scandal, enjoying a rare moment of playtime. The sun finally sets in the distance, the wave’s crash against the shore, and once the water turns frigid, the trio would depart the beach, with hopes of the new restaurant soon opening.
