Part of the The White Hunt Arc

Deeper into the Forest

Neveah stumbles upon Orikahn in a woodland clearing and finds the cat busily restocking his quiver. Orikahn, suspicious of possible competition, attempts to intimidate Neveah, but to no avail.

Orikahn sits in a small clearing near the western edge of the woods. Outside the treeline, one can plainly see a set of ancient gates, then a bridge and a field beyond. Kahn is happily perched on a boulder, whittling arrow shafts. A dead falcon lays on the ground beside him, shot cleanly through with an arrow. Not too far away, there is a small bunch of stones and stone fragments, not to mention a few freshly chipped arrowheads. He plucks a few stiff primaries out of the fallen falcon and begins affixing them on the end of the finished arrowshaft, working quickly and delicately. In no time, three straight, evenly spaced feathers adorn the arrow's end.

Neveah was wandering the areas of frostmaw once again. IT had been awhile since she had donned her fur lined cloak complete with a fur lined hood. She started to feel as if she was neglecting them. That and she was revisiting memories up in the snowy part of the world. She never truly minded the cold thankfully. Though while wandering she usually kept her cloak closed tight against the wind. Per normal she would have to backtrack eventually. For she was always good at finding herself in new places then having to backtrack to get out of them and find them again. Upon coming into the clearing she looks at awe at the ancient gates for it was a site that she has yet to have seen in these parts yet. Noticing the bridge and field beyond she starts to head toward them before noticing the other feline not too far from her at the moment in time upon the boulder busy at work. She stops dead in her tracks and backs up a few steps noticing what he was actually working on. A slight fear creeping up on her though only for a moment. Quickly overcoming her slight fear she holds her head up high and waves towards the feline hoping that he was friendly or at least cordial.

Orikahn perks up, his feline face snapping up to meet Neveah with sharp green eyes. The cat looks almost feral with his massive saber-teeth and blood-streaked armor, all covered in spikes and gore. There is a moment of tension as he sits, statuesque, still holding the unfinished arrow and watching the female. "Are you with Hildegarde?" The cat calls across the clearing in a deep, velvety basso. Though he doesn't reach down to grab it (yet), a gleaming flint dagger lays on the ground beside him. The cat looks positively humongous, even sitting down, and he isn't necessarily pleased to have a visitor.

Neveah meets his gaze. Her strikingly blue eyes staring directly into his sharp green eyes. She doesn’t show any emotion upon her face though she is worried. She did not know of this name he threw out in the air. It was not one she had ever heard of before. He was huge compared to her, and did not seem to be in the mood for having a visitor. The cloak she wore at the moment made her to appear slightly bigger than what she was though not by much. She was still small standing at around 5 feet tall without heels. Though she had these heels made for her before she came for otherwise she would being going barefoot. She lets her cloak slide open for a small amount not enough to see if she was carrying any type of weapons, save for the shield that she wore upon her back. Though the shield was a bit big for her though not in weight thankfully. She never used it to actually fight with, not that she has actually fought though. Though through the opening you can see what she was wearing. A snow white designer dress that came to a length of above her knees by a couple of inches marking it for a short white dress. Her boots came up to a inch below her knees, and in between her boots and dress she wore white lace-up stockings. Around her neck was a obsidian necklace about the only splash of color to her attire. Though out of site she had frost-enchanted razor whips on hips though she had never used them before. Finally upon hesitation she speaks up tentavely “I am sorry I do not know of who you speak of.” Her voice was still sweet none the less though.

Orikahn snorts suspiciously and narrows his eyes. "Then what are you doing here?" The massive cat demands, and forcefully so. Leaning over, he reaches down to pluck up one of the stone arrowheads, his eyes on Neveah all the while: an obvious sign of mistrust. Lifting up the hawk again, he cuts it open with the arrowhead, quickly finding a bit of sinew to carve off in a long, smooth strand. With an audible "snap," he cuts it free and wipes it off between his fingers. "You don't look like a lumberjack to me." In tightly wound circuits, Orikahn completes the arrow's assembly, affixing the arrowhead tightly in place before carefully testing his work, flexing the arrow this way and that with controlled, practiced pressure.

Neveah looks down slightly though she also refused to take her eyes off of the male. Shuffling her feet a bit in nervousness, before stopping that motion. She looks up. "I often find myself in places that I do not know, and in the company of people that I do not know." she told him in a sweet but steady voice. Taking a breath before continueing on, "I am not a lumberjack. In fact I only understand the fact that they cut down trees. Well I suspect that is what they do that is." Stopping once again to catch her breath and choose her words. She has been in situations where she has had to choose her words carefully. Though there have been times she has messed up. Winding up in slavery though that was before she made her way to hollow. "I like this snowy area. The beauty in area around, even around us at this moment in time." She motions towards to ancient gateway. She found beauty in it, though in fact she often found beauty in a lot of things. She watched what he did carefully before continueing. "Though if you do not mind my asking. What are you doing here yourself? For you do not look like a lumberjack though I am sure that if you wanted to, that you could master the skill easily enough." She shuffles her feet once again hoping she didn't upset the male.

Orikahn apparently finds the arrow to his liking, and he stows it away in his quiver with the others. Reaching down again, he takes up the dagger and a fresh, straight branch. "No, you're right," Kahn answers calmly, allowing his eyes to flicker between his whittling and the curiously-dressed stranger. "I'm a hunter, not a lumberjack," he carves off long, thin strips of bark. Clearly, the dagger is as sharp as any razor. "Hunting is nearly all I do, and any living thing is within my grasp." Gently, the cat kicks over his pack with the toe of his boot, and a garland of jawless, humanoid sculls tumbles out, all polished clean and tanned with age. "Hildegarde sent me on an errand for her. A hunter's errand. Tell me," the cat pauses in his carving to lean forward, hands on his knees, ears perking curiously, his eyes wide, his pupils two vertical slits, fixed and intense. "You wouldn't know anything about a giant ox, would you?”

Neveah lets out a sigh of relief the moment he answered and finally took his gaze off of her. That at least meant she had not said something wrong yet that is. She did not deal with people too much and often said the wrong thing sometimes. Though she tries her hardest not to that is. Noticing more about him, and his features. She figures that is like her in a sense though of course a different variety. Her eyes matched his in almost every way except propbably shape and of course color. Her eyes watched him closely with curiousity, carefulness, and wonder. She was still unsure about this male. His skill set seemed to be way far superior than hers. She had already concluded she would lose if ever having to go against him. She of course noticed that the pack did not fall over on accident. It was a boast of his skill per say, and one that she noted well. Though his comment about any living thing is within his grasp did not phase her, though it was only due to the fact she already resigned herself to a loss if he attacked. Though mostly due to skill set. Unless she fled of course. She was good at that. "Hunting sounds like a fun thing to do. Though I only know how to barely hunt. Enough to keep myself fed at least. As far as knowing about a giant ox. Well are they not all giant?" Her ;ast question would hopefully amuse the male, though if not she was not concerned. She also figured there was no point in lies to the male due to her earlier thoughts and observations. SHe waits to see what he would do next though once or twice she did make a point to look at least at the ground once, and the ancient gateway at least twice.

Orikahn whittles of another long, coiling spiral of green wood, and the stick already takes shape beneath his steady hands and sharp blade, resembling the straight shaft of an arrow more and more. "A *giant* ox. An 'R'-ox. Are-ox. Arrrrrgh-ox. R-rocks." Orikahn struggles with the word for a moment, only to give up pronouncing it, yet again. "A really, really big ox. It must stand," the massive cat shakes his head, as if astounded by his own words, "two or three times my height at the shoulder, certainly no less than two!" The last of the bark comes off in a nice, even corkscrew, and Kahn takes on a more delicate, shaving touch. With it, his tone lightens. "You aren't dressed like a hunter, but this land has taught me many times that looks may be deceiving." Glancing up again, he follows her gaze over to the ancient gates again. He jerks his head westward and scowls. "Why are you so interested in those ruins, hmm? What do you think's over there, hmm?" Though he sits fifteen feet away, he still makes a little stabbing gesture in the air at the woman, pointing his blade at her in some sort of aggressive emphasis.

Neveah slightly chuckles to herself about him having a problem with speaking the word. She thought it was cute. Which would be at the moment in time the most she thought was cute at the moment until getting to know him better. Right now she was amazed by his hunting prowess to be honest. She puts her hand over her mouth as he describes how big the thing was. "Oh my that big." she exclaims. "Ihave definitely not seen something like that. For I fear it would be hard press to not see it." She had no idea if she made any sense just then to him. Instead he caught her attention with the motion of his knive that he made when speaking to her again. "The ruins..." she stammers realizing her gaze that way had been noted. She didn't realize she looked that way when trying to look away from him. "I do not know what is over there to be honest. There could be anything, even that thing you are searching for. The place is new to me though Ihope to explore it sometime soon. Maybe you could accompany me when I do." she sighs looking at the sky getting a feeling for the time. "Sadly though Ihave to go I shall find you soon for that answer." and with that she was off for she had something important to take care of.
