RP:Annabelle's Task

From HollowWiki

Summary: Larewen sends Annabelle after Nasada.

The Fountain of Blood

Larewen was standing there, just outside the dormitory with her back against the wall and arms across her torso. She appeared to be a bit more pale than she usually was, having sustained the loss of her stolen blood, but it was no matter; she would find sustenance.

Annabelle noticed the eerie aura as she exited the dorms. Her eyes caught the being who was emitting it in a matter of moments. She took in a deep and continued on. "Have a job for me, I suspect." she responded gently; her voice melodic in nature. Her brown eyes fell upon Larewen as she came to a stop, her long hair gently swaying from the movement. She observed the woman before her a moment. She seemed different... something was off.

Larewen did not turn her head to greet the woman who exited the dormitory. In fact, she didn't even bother lifting her head from that downward position. To passersby, it might have seemed that the woman had fallen asleep in that stance. In lieu of Annebelle's inquiry, her lips quirked upward into a smirk. "You could say that. I need you to keep an eye out for a lovely young woman. If you find her, resist any temptations you might have to feast upon her, and bring her, in as friendly a manner as possible, to me," came the elf's words, sickly sweet upon the afternoon air. She lifted her head then, turning it to peer at the woman. Larewen was studying her, carefully. "I would know her by smell, but I do not know how far developed your senses are. She is about this tall -" the elf indicated with a raise of her hand "- with ebon hair and eyes of a hue so pale, they almost look dead. Along her hairline, you might even see a scar. She's a lovely little creature. I have use of her."

Annabelle narrowed her eyes slightly as she looked over the woman. "Do you have her scent?" she asked, giving a slightly odd face gesture. She didn't usually like looking for people by scent, it made her feel like a dog, however, it did come in handy when assassinating someone. "You aren't going to hurt her, are you?" she asked gently. Her tone rarely left that of someone who was calm. This generally would make it hard to tell what she was thinking, however, her eyes often gave her away. At the moment, they were light. She was in a caring mood. She peered at Larewen for a while. Then, finally, she spoke once more. "Does this person have a name that I may be able to ask around, is there anything useful for me to know in order to better befriend her?" She reluctantly took the job, however, if they planned to slaughter said person, she would have to figure out what to do then. She came back to the present from reverie and waited for a reply.

Larewen blinked at Annabelle, feigning shock at the idea that she'd harm Nasada, that being the name of the girl in question. "If I wished to slaughter her, why would I ask you to befriend her? She has a name, but that is not for you to know just yet; the less people that know, the better. She is very, very important to me. You could say... she's almost like a daughter to me, Annabelle," the elf replied, scrutinizing the other. That caring look was noted, and it would certainly have to be dealt with, but given the task at hand, it was necessary. "You won't see her around too many people, either. She is a bit skittish. Treat her kindly."

Annabelle looked down, thinking a moment. She became quiet. "Very well..." she replied softly. Something the woman had said to her had caused her to feel a ping of hurt. She wasn't sure what exactly but it was obvious that it had affected her mood. She looked around a moment and then pushed down the feeling, returning to her previous state. "Where should I find her, or should I be figuring that out myself as well?" she asked, a small hint of sarcasm in there. She didn't have an issue with not receiving knowledge, however she was also one who liked to get as much information as she could out of someone. "You speak as if I'd treat her any other way.... I'm not a savage..." she responded gently. She then, and only then, allowed her gaze to return to the other. She had a few ideas, however, with the surrounding areas, there were probably more places that were barren of people.

Larewen was not oblivious to that pang of hurt that crossed Annabelle and in acknowledgment of it, the elf's features softened. She pushed off the wall, taking a step nearer to Annabelle. "I found her outside Vailkrin, the city which I showed you upon your arrival little one," she said softly. Gloved hands reached upward to cup caress the other's cheek in a manner that could only be deemed motherly. A certain softness and stolen over Larewen's eyes, perhaps because once upon a time, the woman had yearned for a child - though that was a very, very long time ago indeed. "I know you are not a savage; savages hardly perform well. I'm only worried about her, you see? The same way I'd be worried about you if you disappeared. If her name were to get out, she would be in grave danger."

Annabelle looked up at the woman gently. Her guard was completely down as she hadn't had anyone act in that demeanor in a long time. She couldn't remember the last time, it had been too long. She did remember a warmth, one that- oddly- the woman before her also emitted at this very moment. Annabelle looked up and nodded gently. "I understand, miss." she replied, her voice that same softness again. "I will bring her safely to you and guard her with my life, you have my word." She took a moment to think and looked up at the woman once more. "To Vailkrin..." she responded finally. Her eyes were soft and light. She felt a passion to take care of this person. She was a woman of her word, she would protect the girl at all costs.

Larewen lowered her hands from the other's face them, smiling warmly. "Take care of yourself, as well. Gheneroc also wishes that she not be harmed."

Annabelle nodded, feeling the heat of Gheneroc's will inside. She definitely did not want to upset anyone, especially him. She took inventory mentally and decided that she needed to gain more weaponry in order to fulfill the task at hand. "I will return as swiftly as I can. I have gotten my hands on a map, so I hope to be able to please." with that she gave a sweet smile and turned on her way to a shop with the proper materials.
