RP:A promising meeting

From HollowWiki

Summary Emilia and Odhranos meet up at The Dancing Destrier in Xalious to discuss both finding other members to join and establishing an outpost office in Kelay for others to contact the guild for assistance.

Emilia had yet to regain any of her lost memories leaving her previous travels through the land as a farmer useless to her when it came to leaving the city of Kelay. The little woman had gotten a bit lost on her way to meet the fellow Odhranos at the Xalious tavern, but with a bit of luck and a hawk in the sky the Genasi eventually made it. Better late than never, hopefully he was still here. A faint smile on pale blue lips as the little lady inhaled a deep breath before slipping into the building. Six steps past the door, enough not to get hit by the next one to enter, Lia stopped to scan the crowd for a familiar face all while praying none here expect Odhranos would recognize her.

Odhranos had been sitting at a small table near the back of the tavern, a pint of sour-tasting ale sitting at the table in front of him. Seeing the pale woman he recognised from their earlier quest, he smiled and waved her over to the table. The tavern was bustling with patrons and there was a warm lively atmosphere in the dim smoky room. "Ms Lia, its a pleasure to see you again" the grey mage smiles warmly, as he pulls out the other chair from the table for the petite woman to sit.

Emilia let out a sigh of relief that the man was still waiting and had not left on account of her lateness. Bare feet nearly glided over the floor as the ice-woman weaved her way through the crowd in almost a dance-like fashion to join his table. Hoping up into the offered seat Lia replied with a cheerful, “Hello! Sorry I am late, got a little lost on my way over. Glad to see you again.” In the chair across from the mage the genasi almost appeared to be child. “How have you been?”

Odhranos seated himself across from the genasi, took a sip of the ale, then pulled a face and placed the practically untouched ale back in the ring of spilled liquid it had been languishing in before. "Not bad, to tell the truth. I've been hunting raiding black dragon nests and venturing between Kelay and Frostmaw as the humour takes me" the mage replied as he pulled the worn wooden chair into the table. A cold breeze blew in the door as another patron comes into the tavern and the mage pulled his large grey robe about himself and shivered slightly. "I must say, lovely place as Xalious is, it is a bit open to the elements" he quiped, juddering his chair to the left to catch some of the heat pouring out of the arcane fireplace. "What about yourself?"

Emilia didn’t notice the chill that arrived with another patron entering the building, she was a creature of ice at her very core making it nearly impossible for the little lady to feel anything expect for higher temperatures. “Oh, I find that Xalious is not all that bad, weather wise...” The petite woman dressed in a simple white summer dress and no shoes replied in honesty. The longer that Ohdranos would sit in the presence of the Genasi he would gradually feel the air in the space around them dropping to a colder feeling that even the flames of the fireplace could barely contest with. “I have been alright. Been working on finding more people out for adventure to join into the Guild, little luck, I seem to be a bit lost lately. Also, scouting for a place to put in a business for the adventure, a place for those not wanting adventure to go to hire someones for them.”

Odhranos nodded as the woman talked. "Sort of like a hiring post, where someone could leave requests for the guild". He smiled, picturing it: a big wooden board, a bit tattered and scarred from the raucous crowd of adventurers it usually entertained, with scraps of paper pinned to it, maps and requests, promising adventure and danger to whoever has the guts to go looking for it. Returning his gaze to the woman sitting across from him, he asked "Has there been much of an uptake in recruiting? From what i've seen, everyone in Hollow seems to be itching for adventure" he grinned, recalling some of the individuals he had met personally.

Emilia lifted her hand, the wrist attached to that hand stitched from wrist bone up the arm about six inches, from the table where it had been idly resting, a frosted hand print left in its place, and started to twirl a stray white curl around her finger. “I cannot say that I have had the best of luck in meeting with people about the land. In honest, I try to avoid crowded public places as they make me a bit nervous anymore. However, if you find anyone itching for adventure that might like to join ranks please do send them my way or me their way.” A gentle smile fell over light blue lips at the idea of expanding the people in the merry-adventure-band. Never not enough people, “I have been scouting around Kelay for a location, I believe that many tend to travel through that city making it a prime place to set up a request station. Then perhaps in the future expanding to more cities with out reach points.”

Odhranos agreed with this; Kelay was a good spot, almost everyone passed through there, no matter who or even what they were. "That sounds like a good plan. I think the Merchant's Guild had a spare storeroom that they were no longer using, perhaps a central location like that might be a good investment" he suggested. He went to reach for the ale again, then thought better of it. "That scar on your arm looks painful, do you mind me asking what caused it?" the mage inquired, somewhat delicately. There had been more than one occasion where inquiring as to dubious scars or markings had gotten him in trouble.

Emilia turned her bright gaze down upon her wrist as her other hand moved to trace a finger along the stitches in the flesh, standing out with the black thread against otherwise snow-white flesh. The wound was healing nicely and the stitches could most likely be removed soon. Silence lingered in the air before those eyes lifted to stare at the mage across from her with an almost apologetic and blank look, “I actually have no idea what I did. I do not remember what happened or even stitching myself up afterwards, or ending up from the southern part of Sage into the town square of Larket.” A smile, well practiced and perfected however fake it was, “I am fine, no need to worry this is nothing but a minor scratch.”

Odhranos nodded sombrely. He sensed a slight tension when he asked about the scar and although he was curious, he didnt want to ask further, for the sake of politeness. Leaning forward onto his elbows, he ran a long thin hand through his long, messily tied hair. "I apologise if I seemed insensitive, I didnt mean to pry" he smiled apologetically. "I remember, shortly before I left yourself and Xxaviour, he seemed surprised when you mentioned leading the Adventurers Guild, did the guild used to have different leadership?" He asked, in an attempt to learn more about the guild he was joining.

Emilia would reach out to move a random stray out that was sticking up on the mage’s head back into place, if he’d allow her to adjust the one hair that was bugging her on his head. That hand of hers freezing cold. “I believe so? It seemed to those once leading it have vanished from the land. I assume onto bigger and more amazing adventures, but I could be wrong...” There was a pause as she pulled her hand back slowly, “I think Xzavior was more so confused because I have been staying at his cabin since the accident and hadn’t mentioned to him that I had taken to raising it from the ground.”

Odhranos would have one day been as bugged about a stray hair and it would have been neatly put in place, but times had changed and so had the now-grey mage. He smiled, "I can only imagine the adventures beyond this land. There are mornings I wake up after sleeping in the mountains and I look out, across the Sage, past Cenril and out to the horizon and wonder what else there might be to see beyond the horizon.." he shakes his head sadly. There were some places beyond that horizon that he knew far too well, and missed too. "Well, you have my support in that endeavour, Ms Lia. This land has many adventures and needs the adventurers to venture out and realise them." the mage smiles.

Emilia could not be happier to hear that when adventure called she had someone that she could call on to explore with. Nothing like having a companion when out in the wilds of Hollow. “For me, everyday is an adventure. Each time I step out of the cabin into the forest it starts another journey.” There was a flash of a sad smile, “I want to say that I have seen the land before, but if I have, which I have been told I have many times over, I cannot recall anything of it. Seems no matter where I go someone knows me, yet there is no memory of them.” Shaking her head those wild untamed frosted curls of hers danced around her lithe frame before falling into her face, “We should find a couple more people to join us and a suitable location in Kelay for a office before too long. I found an old book in a trunk and with someone that can translate it, I think we may have an adventure soon.”

Odhranos tilted his head, a concerned look crossing his face. "That sounds terrible, im so sorry" he frowns slightly. At the mention of an old book, the mage's face lit up, he was a terrible bookworm and always loved ancient manuscripts. "I may know just the person for such a quest. There's a certain elf, by the name of Lanlan. We travelled together in the Enchanted forest and came across a cursed tower. Now that was some adventure!" The mage laughed, remembering the events that followed, resulting in both himself and Lanlan being transmuted into a ferret and caterpillar. "Lanlan may be a little proud, but I would trust him wholeheartedly, and he is a fine adventurer" he stated fondly.

Emilia brushed the curls from her face so that she could see the Mage clearly instead of through a layer of hair, “I would much like to meet this Lanlan that you speak of. Perhaps he is just what we are seeking. Can never have too many adventures. I also, have a lady whose name is in another book that I think may also be of help with understanding what the book says. I do not remember, but the notes I have on her from the past seem to point that she would also enjoy it. I think it may take a few minds to read this book as some of the pages are faded and worn with some strange markings.”

Odhranos was happy, he enjoyed Lanlan's company and the two were well acquainted, the mage would enjoy working with the elf again. He was curious as to who this other woman might be, but decided it would be better to meet whoever it was themself. "Strange markings are always promising. I had best brush up on my symbolism in the meantime" the mage grinned, eager to get a look at this ancient book.

Emilia beamed with an ear to ear smile, “Glad to hear it! I had best get going. I need to go chase down someone about some land in Kelay, but I can promise you that I will contact you again soon. In the meantime, please send word to this Lanlan friend of yours so that we can all meet up sometime soonish, perhaps. Please, take care.” With that the little lady was slipping out of the chair readying to leave.

Odhranos leant across the table and extended his hand. "I look forward to it, thank you Ms Lia" the mage smiled amiably. "Until we meet again!"

Emilia shook his hand, “See you soon!” And then the little ice-woman was skipping out the door.
