RP:A Wayward Pixie's Brief Chat

Frozen Sentinel

Satoshi is overseeing a very peculiar form of construction. Or deconstruction. One of Frostmaw's titanic sentinels has come to life, not to guard the city, but to clean it up. And Satoshi is directing it, for golems, no matter how large and powerful, are not intelligent beings. She has to ensure that while the sentinel is removing the boulders that had flattened half of Frostmaw Fort, it's not also removing intact portions of the building. Do you have any idea how tricky it is to tell a golem which rocks are okay to move, and which aren't? it's more complex than it has any right being, honestly.

Kovl trods down the icy path toward the fort, and a sensitive ear catches Satoshi's commands to the sentinel. His emerald eyes catch sight of the eidolon, and his path diverts toward her. Kovl is human proportion now, a form more condusive to the injuries sustained by Vehara not long ago. "Satoshi, greetings." The pixie's voice is deeper to match his size. He couldn't miss the sentinel before him. "I didn't know you were one for manual labor."

Satoshi's ears swivel back in acknowledgement of the voice speaking, although for a moment she doesn't turn around. After all, there's a sentinel to direct, and it's trying to place a slab of broken stone atop a nearby house. "No, no, no, rocks-for-brains! The -pile-! We're trying to -fix- the homes, not destroy more of them." Obediently, the construct drops the slab on the pile of other broken stone... from two stories up, causing shrapnel to fly in all directions while the ground shakes under the force. Satoshi buries her face in her hands. "We need to improve your command synchronization..." Peering up through her fingers, Satoshi looks at Kovl then and offers him a waggle of ears. "Hullo, Dust. And hah~, this is Frostmaw. Everyone works to heal the city, myself included!" The sentinel is shot a look then before she adds, "Except some of us are better suited to -defend- not build."

Kovl , accustomed to being small in size and dodging large objects, ducks and covers his head from the incoming shrapnel. While none manages his way, he winces as his shoulder is flexed. The sharp pain reminds him of the half-drow's victory, and he stands once again. As Satoshi speaks, scans the damage done to the fort ahead of them. Since his journey in the Exiles' tunnels, much seems to have escalated between the factions. "I've only heard of the battles, but I didn't anticipate seeing this. Are you okay?" His eyes move from the fort to Satoshi.

Satoshi nods, waving off Kovl's concern. "Frostmaw stands, thus so do I. The Exiles are vanquished, but we've much to repair and heal. Soon enough, we'll be better than we ever were~." Proudly, the little magus puffs out her chest, only to deflate seconds later as she looks back at the pixie. "But how're you? I heard you gave that Vehara a fierce run for her money in your match. No lasting damage, I hope? Or if so, a really good scar to make the ladies swoon~?"

Kovl 's mouth forms into an uneven smile. "I kept her on the defense, that's for sure. Though she did manage to clip my wing and shoot my shoulder." The pixie motions to his wing only to wince again at the pain in his shoulder. "She's a tricky one. I thought I had her, but she was fast. And you know I don't need a scar to make the ladies swoon." His smile grows broader. Kovl's eyes move to the sentinel as he asks Satoshi, "Have you seen Eliason around? I heard a couple weeks ago that he was up this way." His gaze rests on Satoshi once again as he gauges her response.

Satoshi shakes her head. "I heard he was wounded in battle, but I have not seen him. He is not among the dead, that much I know. But then.. there is much to do, many wounded to see, and many families to visit, tu sais?" Satoshi has been unspeakably busy since the final battles, to the point that she has not spared a moment for more than a brief nap. She's running on borrowed energy.

Kovl 's brows raise, "So he -is- still here." The pixie nods but soon realizes he must not look too incriminating, "Any word on what type of injuries? I hope he stays among the living." While the last statement may be true, the pixie is not here to be cordial with the paladin. Waiting for a response and changing the subject, the illusionist asks, "Have you received the letter on Ezekiel's findings concerning his prosthetic arm? I know you have something of the sort." The pixie pauses and adds, "It'd be nice to give him a gift of making it look as real as possible, but I do not yet know how to enchant items. Perhaps one day you can teach me."

Satoshi shakes her head again, followed by a shrug. "I honestly do not know. I haven't received any word. He may be here, or he may have returned home to recover." With hundreds and more being tended by a fleet of healers, Satoshi has had her hands full without actively seeking out anyone specifically. At mention of Ezekiel, the magus perks up a bit. "Ah. Yes. I spoke to Ezekiel this morning, in fact. We were discussing his promotion. We'd decided my combat-based lessons weren't suited to him, and instead, his test will consist of developing new defenses for the fort as it's rebuilt."

Kovl nods, understanding that it must be difficult to keep track of all the wounded during a war. The pixie is surprised to learn this new information concerning Ezekiel. "He may be promoted then? I heard that he has been doing some research with a dragon named Lydrain concerning raw arcane energy. I think he is certainly Arcane Steward material." The illusionist surprises himself with his words, but he knows his commendation rings true. The relationship between Ezekiel and Kovl has been a bit strained, though the pixie still instinctively speaks well of him.

Satoshi says to Kovl, "I agree. But I must test him to be sure. He seems eager to prove himself, which is proof enough of how much he's grown." It's enough that Satoshi has stopped referring to Ezekiel as 'Rabbit'. No longer does he act like the timid, flighty, weak creature she'd first known. "I'm confident he'll succeed splendidly."

Kovl said to Satoshi, "I have little doubt that he will succeed. He seems to have been making progress since the last time that I tried to take that book from him." The smile fades from the pixie's face as he remembers the fate of that tome, and the illusionist wonders if Ezekiel ever told anyone other than him. "You may be interested to learn that Svilfon gave me an intro to fire." Is that a flash of deviousness in his eyes? "It aid me well in the future, I'm sure." He pauses. "I was going to find Eliason in the fort, but..." Eyes move to the destruction. "It's unlikely I'll find him there. I'm sure I will find him. And just a professional request: Will you please not mention to him that I'm looking for him?""

Satoshi takes a moment to eye the pixie, curiosity a gleam in her eyes. But in the end, she merely nods. "If he does not ask, I have no reason to tell." Satoshi turns back to the sentinel then standing silent and waiting. From over her shoulder she adds to the pixie, "I imagine you want to resume your search. Which means I really ought to get back to work. Best of luck to you~."

Kovl nods again to the ice magus. "I appreciate it." At Satoshi's curious glance, he replies, "Don't worry. He'll be fine." What could the pixie be talking about? He'll be fine? "He can handle whatever is thrown at him. Good-bye, Satoshi. Perhaps I will see you around Xalious." Leaving the rest a mystery, Kovl backtracks toward the tavern, searching for the paladin.

Satoshi simply salutes the pixie before returning to her work.
