The Sage Forest

Kyros walked alongside Tanya on the outskirts of sage forest, his hands hanging idly at his sides and his eyes on the treeline in front of him. He'd sought the woman out for the third time since the duel he'd witnessed between her and Desparrow, slightly more hopeful of rekindleance this time. Their second meeting had gone better, and so far this was going well. He'd never been to sage forest before. "Thanks for coming with me," he said to her, glancing over. "I want you to train me, still. And Trissayne. I need to become stronger," he said with a look of determination on his features.

Tanya straightened her long black skirt than hung just below her knees as she walked. She moved her hands to the pockets on either side of her cloak. Her gaze trained on the ground in front of her. " Its my pleasure to be here with you. If we train you its going to take hard work on your part for us to get you to the point where you will be stronger. Though Trissayne can teach you more of a melee style fighting. Mine is more Ranged and Magic."

Kyros nodded in understanding, glancing to her. "Yes, but you can teach me to stay on my toes... To keep up with those who use magic. How do I deflect the cyclone attack you use?" he asked, raising his eyebrows. "There must be a way... Surely there's some kind of escape from it that I'm unaware of. How have others escaped from it?"

Tanya chuckles slightly at the thought of her infamous cyclone. " There is a way of escaping it. Though many have tried and none have been successful. Thats is one of those that I will only use if I absolutly have to. It is much more dangerous than I thought it was." The woman sighs still keeping her eyes on the ground scanning the area she was walking in order to make sure she didnt trip over something. " I know that Trissayne was rather impressed by you. I know my companion and he is good and is a great teacher. You will get much training with him inside and outside of SK."

Kyros looked over at her and nodded. "He is a good teacher, though I've only met him the one time," he said quietly. "Perhaps if I got to know him and used my own techniques while he trained me, that would benefit me more than only seeing him scarcely... It seems useless to me," he sighed, "having an attack which no one can escape. It almost seems ludicrous." He shrugged, though, his hands pushing into his pockets as they walked further into the trees.

Tanya: Tanya sighed and nodded in response. " Well I agree Triss does need to be on a lot more, but he has other obligations as well that he is dealing with. I still have things to work out with that attack. Unfortunatly my own magic is still in the process of developing. That one came out a lot stronger than I ment it to be. Im going to have to talk with my mother about how to control it better. Thus is why I wont be used anytime soon till I learn to control it better."

Kyros smiled over at her. "Well, when you learn to control it better, maybe you and I could fight again. You could teach me how to excape it." He looks down, biting against his lip, when he realizes that, though he doesn't quite trust her, he's not arguing with her as he would have before. He rather likes getting along with her better. He moves down a winding path, hearing rustling in the bushes a few yards away. Though his human senses wouldn't pick it up or know it was a lion, perhaps Tanya's stronger senses would.

Tanya smiles slightly as she lets her gae move from the ground briefly to him than she adverts them back to the ground in front of her. Pulling her cloak around her frame she nods " That I can do when I learn how to control it. Though you got retty good at dodging the lightning attack I have." That stops in her tracks as she grabs his forearm with her hand. " Wait there is something in the bushes over there. We have to becareful there are always things that try to kill people lurking in this forest."

Kyros stopped and stood still, listening when when stopped him and placing a hand on the hilt of his sword. He heard a growl, the sound of a big cat, and then a small, almost helpless little scream. It sounded like a muffled child, and Kyros immediately drew his sword. "Did you hear that?" he asked Tanya, starting to move in on the noise and glancing back at her. "Come with me," he said, feeling a little safer with someone capable of magic nearby, and he ran towards the thick brush near the base of the tree line.

Tanya nodded when she was asked if she heard the growl and than the scream. Tanya grabbed her crossbow that was slung upon her back and grabbed a bolt from the quiver at her side. Looking to the bushes she loaded the bolt into the crossbow and pulled the string back. Holding it up she followed Kyros towards the bushes.

Kyros went around the edge of the bushes and saw, with a shocked look on his face, a huge mountain lion, his claws crusted in blood and his teeth bared. Under his paw was what looked to be a small fairie with brown hair and wide eyes, trying to get away from the beast and screaming in a small, barely audible voice. Kyros let out a loud growl at the lion, his instincts taking over and his sword rising. The lion had barely a chance to escape before Kyros brought his sword, fairly new, and the blade sharp, down into the lion's back, between it's shoulder blades, causing the beast to release a pained roar of anger, forgetting about the sprite and swiping at Kyros with sharp claws.

Tanya comes around the bushes following him. Raising her crossbow and lets the bolt fly at the lion. The bolt went wizzing past Kyros's head and imbedded itself into the lion's chest. The beast drops instantly. Tanya walks up next to him and smiles " Well at least my aim is still good."

Saving The Sprite

Kyros swung at the lion with one more fell swoop just after Tanya's arrow pierced its chest, the two attacks hitting it at the same time, and the lion dropped in a pool of its own blood, dead and broken. Kyros held his sword in front of him for a moment longer before sheathing it, and then his attention turned to the small pixie, no more than a foot tall, now sitting with her arms over her legs, crying quietly. One of her wings was badly mangled and she seemed to have blood in her hair, though Kyros couldn't tell where it was from. He had, in fact, never seen a sprite before. Glancing back at Tanya, he gave her a look of confusion.

Tanya watched as Kyros swung his sword down upon the lion striking it the same time her bolt hit. Walking up to Kyros she kicks the lions corpse just to make sure that it was in fact dead. Tanya moves up next to Kyros and lookes where he was looking. The woman spots the little sprite crying. She noticed the blood in her hair and her mangled wing. Tanya shakes her head slightly and sighs. Tanya glanced at Kyros as she parts her lips to speak " Its a sprite. She wont hurt you. Though I think the lion did a job to her."

Kyros nodded at the information and leaned down, reaching out to pick up the sprite. She stuck her arm out and sent a bolt of magic through her fingertips, shocking him so that he pulled his hand away, wincing, even though it was clear the creature's magic was very minimal, and she couldn't have really hurt him. "Ow," he said, glancing to Tanya. "Thought you said it wouldn't hurt me." He shook his head and looked at the sprite again before turning to Tanya. "Can you heal her? Is it fixable?"

Tanya smiled a little more watching the sprite defend herself against someone she didnt know. The woman kneels down next to the sprite and smiles gently. Reaching her hand down she offers it to the sprite. " Come I wont harm you. Let me heal you." The sprite shocks her slightly but the woman doesnt move she keeps her hand down by the sprite. " Ow now I know your scared but that wasnt very nice." The sprite cautiously stands and takes a step onto Tanya's hand. The woman than brings her other hand up to the sprite and just looks at her hand as it starts to glow blue. The sprite's wing starts to mend and any pain the wee one was feeling is disipating. " Ahhh there now all you need is a bath to get cleaned up."

Kyros watched the interaction, his brow furrowed as the tiny creature shocked his companion. He was beginning not to like the sprite very much, and he wondered briefly if she'd done something to provoke the lion. However, when she stepped onto Tanya's hand and allowed herself to be healed, she seemed to relax more, walking towards Tanya's wrist with her arms held out to her sides as if she were balancing on a beam. This made Kyros laugh, and he smiled some. "She's cute. Can she talk?"

Tanya laughed slightly as she watched the sprite use her arm as a balance beam. Letting her eyes move to Kyros she raises an eye brow as she shook her head " Im not sure if she can talk. Why dont you come and see if she will trust you enough to go to you."

Kyros wrinkled his nose a little, but went over to the sprite and held out his hand, palm flat. "Come here," he said to her, and she watched him for a moment before blatantly sticking her nose up at him and turning away. He thumped her side with the tip of his finger. "Come on, I saved you from a lion," he said, and the creature regarded him briefly before looking to Tanya and then stepping off of her wrist and into the palm of the human's hand, keeping his arms crossed over his chest.

Tanya laughed as the sprite turned her nose up at him. She kept her eyes on the sprite as the wee one finally stepped into his hand. letting her gaze move from the sprite to him as she smirks slightly. " You got to get her to trust you Kyros. Try offering her something to drink or eat."

Kyros raised an eyebrow at her. "Why?" he asked Tanya, but then, deciding to trust her judgement rather than question it, he reached one-handedly into his sachel. It took him little time at all to find a chocolate chip cookie, which he offered to the sprite. It was nearly half as big as her body was. Reaching out, she grabbed for the cookie and, having some trouble lifting it, she sat down in his palm to lean over it instead, tearing off hand-sized pieces and eating hungrily, helping herself to another bite before she'd even swallowed the first. Kyros had to laugh. "She was hungry, huh?"

Tanya listens to him question her and just simply shakes her head. Watching him pull out the chocolate chip cookie and offer it to the sprite she smirks as the wee one actually has some troubles with it before she figures out how to eat the cookie. " Yes she was hungary. My guess is that she doesnt have a home and the lion thought she was an easy meal. I think you should name her."

Kyros looked at Tanya. "Name her? She doesn't belong to me. I can't rightly name her," he said quietly, confused. He eyed the sprite quietly and watched her eat out of his hand, her long brown hair falling over her shoulders. She seemed majestic, with dark skin and dark purple wings, her dress a simple brown that was almost the same color as her skin. "Maybe she has a name already," he said, and asked the sprite, "Do you have a name?" The small one nodded once inbetween bites, but her mouth was too full to speak, if she could. "See? Even if she hadn't a name, she isn't mine."

Tanya smiles at him a little more " Well considering she is sitting in your palm and they dont take food from people mostly. She seems to like you though."

Zuri Makes Herself Known

Kyros shook his head. "That hardly means that she belongs to me, just because she trusts me. She was probably hungry." He leaned down and sat the sprite, along with the cookie, on a rock next to the slain lion's corpse. "There. She'll be okay," he motioned for Tanya to continue walking with him, but soon heard the sprite's small voice for the first time, shouting "Hey! Hey, wait! Wait! Hey!" at his retreating feet. He glanced back, and she seemed to be having trouble flying with the cookie in her hands, so was carrying it humorously as she ran after him.

Tanya shrugged as she watched him put the sprite down on a rock with the cookie. As he motioned for her to walk with him she stepped off the ground with one foot as she followed stride. Hearing the small voice as the sprite chased them down still carrying the cookie that obviously making it hard for her to fly the woman snickered slightly. " Really she doesnt belong to you. She seems to be chasing you down now."

Kyros stopped in his tracks and glanced back at the sprite, her wings beating heavily behind her, though she could only get a few inches off of the ground with the cookie in her arms. She ran until she was at his feet and then she got down on her knees and bowed to him with her hands tucked in around the cookie. Kyros thought this strange, and he nodded to her. "Oh, you're saying thank you. It's okay. You're welcome." He turned again, but again she cried, "Hey, wait! Wait!" and he stopped once more, leaning down to her. "What is it now? You want me to take you with me or something?" he asked, and she nodded once, still in a bowed position. "Okay... I guess it won't hurt anything," he looked to Tanya as he picked up the sprite in his hand again.

Tanya stopped when he did turning as well to look at the wee one. Raising an eye brow as she watched Kyros interact with the wee one once more. Listening to his words she shakes her head. " I dont think she is just saying thank you." Turning once more to start walking again she stops mid turn and listens to the wee one cry out once more. The woman's crimson hues darting to Kyros as she looks from him to the sprite. " It seems like she has taken a liking to you."

Kyros shook his head and let the sprite walk up his arm with the cookie, sitting in the folds of his armor, between his sleeve and shoulderplate, using leverage to keep her legs hooked under the hard corner of the armor and resting her arms and the cookie on top of his shoulderplate. Now that she was situated, Kyros looked at Tanya again. "Will she steal my stuff or anything? I've never seen one before. I don't know if I should trust her."

Tanya chuckles slightly as she watches the sprite move up his arm and get comfortable. With another raise of her eye brow at Kyros she grins " Oh no she wont steal your stuff. In fact because you fed her and teated her with kindness she will actually spend her lifetime with you. She will be faithful and help you in anyway she can."

Kyros took a hand and smoothed back the sprite's hair. "Let's find her a stream to bathe in, then," he said with a short nod. "If she's going to be following me, I can't have her caked in lion blood." He smiled over at Tanya and began walking again, the small sprite clinging to his armor, as he moved back towards the edge of the forest to find a body of water that would serve the little sprite to bathe in. "Oh," he said, looking down at her. "Do you have a name?" The sprite's wings fluttered and she said in a small voice what sounded like, "Zuri." Kyros nodded at this. "Okay, Zuri it is."
