RP:A Night Without Care

Sandy Beach

South of the creative mass of Dami's beach is a gentle, sandy area dominated by high cliffs to the South. These protect the beach from winds and it is a pleasant area for everyone to lounge or swim. If they wish, they can seek shade in the gardens to the East. Many people look towards the cliffs, sure that they can see faint, hand-made outlines on them.

Skylei had led Tyler down from the cramped apartment that she shared with Jos. It hadn't been the most pleasant night's sleep and Jos had left the flat as an utter sty. Her clothes and other bits and bobs; instruments, jewellery and girly tat, had been flung across the vast majority of the apartment. The only section that had been left clear surrounded the sofa, where an ordered stack of book and a small pile of Sky's clothes lay. Either way, for the half-elf, the apartment had felt uncomfortably big without her bard friend and she had been keen to soak up the outside air. So, she had taken Tyler to her favourite spot in the whole of the city. As the two walk their approach to the beach, portions of their conversation can be overheard, "You're going to love it…. It's beautiful." Sky was hopeful that he would love the beach as she did. The two would walk slowly and she would be careful to support him on his wounded leg.

Tyler moved cautiously using Skylei for ample support during their journey to the beach of Chartsend. The man had a rough night, unable to sleep due to the horrors of the previous day replaying through his mind like clockwork. He had wanted to get out of the small apartment in order to get some fresh air and the smell of the salty sea would help him relax as he converse with the wood elf. When the duo reached the sand, Tyler would move himself from Skylei and stand on his own while he took in the view and enjoyed the sound of the waves crashing against the shoreline. A smile spread across his face and his eyes closed as he inhales deeply in an effort to clear his mind. "You're right... It's perfect." His voice is soft as his eyes reopen and he turns to smile at Skylei before lowering himself to take a seat in the sand with a few grunts along the way. The man wasn't wearing much out on the beach. A few bandages covered his torso and a simple pair of beige shorts allowed him maximum comfort despite the chill that would set upon the duo soon enough. Digging his toes into the sand he would place his palms opposite of one another and burrow them as well as he offers a sigh of what seems to be relaxation for the first time since his duel. The sounds of the seagulls, waves and patrons of the beach filled his mind and took him to a better place for a moments time. "I can almost see why you like it here."

Skylei makes sure that Tyler is happily seated upon the sand before she walks round to his left side and sits alongside him. Swinging the black bag down from her back and into the sands below, Sky would pull bread and ale that she had syphoned from the tavern on their walk in front of them. Ale might not have been the best idea for Tyler, given his current condition, but that hadn't crossed Skylei's mind when she had purchased the supplies. And anyway, she needed a drink. Even though Tyler had been beaten black and blue the day before, the half-elf cannot help but be secretly relieved that Tyler is no longer in the Fighting Championship. This, she hoped, would keep him out of harm's way, at least for a little while. Reaching forward, Sky would pick one of the bottles of ale from the sand and crack the top. Taking large sips from the now warmish bottle, she would answer Tyler's thought with a confused question, "Almost? Do you not like it here? I think it's rather wonderful…"

Tyler doesn't reach for any of the ale or bread, the humans appetite non-existent since he took the blade. Instead, he focused on his breathing and trying to remain relaxed as it brought him a deal of comfort despite his injuries. As Skylei questioned his preference of Chartsend he would draw a doubtful expression and shake his head slowly. "To be honest, no. I miss home." His thoughts drew back to Kelay and the routine of the lawless town the man fondly recalling just days ago when he complained of Mesthak's tavern and the boring repetition of it all but now as he sat in Chartsend his distaste for the place grew making him realize how much he took the former for granted. "Too much water here, I s'pose." As he stared off to the ocean a blank stare would come across the human as he paused for a moment. "Too much blood." His mind had been brought back to the thought of his fight with Javier though he successfully pressed the images away quick enough for him not to become distressed. His attention would turn to Skylei and he provides a warming smile to the wood elf. "It's been a hell of a week..."

Skylei would nudge the bread a little closer to the human, in the hope that he might take the hint and eat some food. Either way, she is perfectly happy to simply lie on the sand and drink ale whilst soaking up the last of the sun. She is only a little distressed to hear Tyler's damning critique of Chartsend; after all, this was where she lived and worked. She had been hoping that he would feel some semblance of fondness towards the town, but that seemed like it wasn't going to happen. She simply sighed and went back to her drink. Whilst she couldn't hear his thoughts, Sky too was thinking of Kelay and Tyler's criticism of that place only days earlier. The half-elf couldn't help but think that perhaps the human would never be satisfied with any place she offered him. With a roll of her eyes, Sky would look back to the sea and continue to drown her thoughts in ale.

Tyler looks to the bread with twisted lips. His right hand reaches to his stomach and begins to scratch lightly as his mind tells him the wound is still there, open and bleeding. It was odd to be healed so quickly from such a severe wound, something the man had never experienced before and he was still waiting for it all to be a hoax and he feared taking a bite of the bread only to have it come right back out. Shifting his eyes from the food to Skylei and back again he finds himself taking hold in an effort to please the elf. Observing the loaf his face seems to be in both fear and disgust as his stomach churns and offers a loud growl at the thought of digesting something. Picking off a small piece with shaky finger tips the man slowly lifts the bread to his mouth and places it inside. He chews at the small chunk for nearly two entire minutes and finally, after three attempts, manages to swallow. Allowing a moment to assess the situation he finds that his stomach indeed isn't a gaping whole and some reassurance flows over him as he takes another small piece and repeats the process. Caramel eyes turn to face Skylei and observe her taking rapid hits from the ale, an observation that brings the human to a bit of concern as he chews unenthusiastically on his bread. His first instinct was to question if everything was alright, to see if he had done something to upset the elf, but the motion was surpassed by a sudden urge to try and avoid any dramatic interaction as he felt she'd had enough of that yesterday by watching him get hoisted up in the air by a blade, booted to the ground, nearly bleeding out and then face to face with a cranky old dragon. A quick exhale is offered through his nostrils as if he finds humor in the entire situation and despite all the bad things he feels a small bit of happiness rush over his wounded body. "However, I'm happy being with you, where ever that may be." He breaks his stare from Skylei as he says this and reverts his gaze back to the open waves. He felt sure that the elf would be suffering from stress of having to worry about him so much, and he knew he didn't help to soften the burden by having the emotional stability of a child. So now he sat, eyes focused on the ocean and for once, simply gave thanks for having the opportunity to still be alive and sitting beside the woman he so loved.

Skylei would avert her gaze back to Tyler as he finally picks some bread from the sand and begins to eat. The half-elf would offer him an encouraging smile and a nod, pleased to see that he is finally eating something, slow as the process may be. She too would pick some bread from the sand as her own stomach gurgles unapologetically. Still wound up in the events of the previous day, the half-elf had clearly forgotten to satisfy her base desire for food and as it reaches her lips, she would take large bites, chewing them for merely seconds before taking another. With her mouth full of ground up bread, Sky would look over to Tyler with an apologetic shrug for her lack of grace before continuing to shovel the foodstuff into her mouth. As he offers his placating remark, Sky would snort and bread would fly from between her teeth and towards his face. Sweet as it was for him to say that, she didn't believe it for a second. Still she was hungry and her response would have to wait until the bread was finished.

Tyler squeezes his eyes shut as bits of bread collide with his cheek from Skylei's snort. The man slowly reopening them and looking through his peripheral vision to focus on the wood elf for a moment as he resisted the urge to submit a retort to her clear defiance of his honest words. Instead he simply made a mental note to keep his sappy words to himself in order to try and maintain peace between the two. As his companion continued to devour her bread, Tyler found his already scarce appetite gone and after only the two small bites he would push the bread back towards Skylei as his stomach growled with upset that he had even tried eating. Eyes followed a young couple the sprinted down the coast, laughing and playfully slapping at one another the two couldn't be a year over sixteen if they were indeed human but perhaps much older if full blooded elf. As the duo continued down the shore Tyler found his heart heavy for a moment as he noted the absolute reprimand of his time that he had actually taken to dedicate to Skylei since he confessed his love for her. The night outside of the temple the two had grown rather close and when he confessed his love to the wood elf the man was greeted with emotions so powerful he questioned his entire existence prior to that very moment. As that past, he replayed each time he had found himself in her company again there after and frowned at the realization that each encounter had been plagued with his confession of some decision that worried or upset the woman. Heart growing heavy he resisted the urge to look to Skylei and express his emotion as he feared her reaction. He begins to make a mental chart of the choices he had made in these past few weeks and the consequences that had come from them. The Kitsune, the robberies and the tournament. He thought of how Skylei had reacted to each of them and found himself at a cross-roads. Tyler had no idea how to manage himself well enough and survive as he has in the past without causing Skylei some form of worry or distress. His hand reaches to his wound again and an open palm rubs at it as he imagines her reaction of seeing the knight hoist him into the air and seeing Tyler beg for his life. In a seemingly silent moment the man struggles to decide how to interact with the wood elf. Does he keep to his path of honesty and continue to fill Skylei in on his ever move, be it for better or worse? Or does he keep his choices to himself in an attempt to spare her from mental distress and panic. His tongue runs across his chapped lips before he finds himself biting down on the right side of his lower lip and a glance is given to the couple that had past moments ago as they began to fade into the horizon. His toes dig deeper into the cooling sand and Tyler's gaze falls back to the oceans waves, his choice made he began to ponder the consequence though his features would try not to betray him he would simply slide his hand over closer to Skylei and lift a single index finger to rest on the side of her leg.

Skylei had only eyes for her bread until the entire thing is devoured. With a final bite and chew, the bread meets its demise and the half-elf would lie back with a satisfied sigh. Stretching her legs out before her, Sky would place her hands on her stomach as it gurgles loudly, clearly pleased to have been granted food at last. Her eyes would close as blood rushes quickly to her stomach and the half-elf attempts to wash down the meal, if it can be called that, with the last of her ale. Unfortunately, she doesn't sit up to do this and therefore a fair proportion of the liquid falls onto her face rather than into her mouth. Hoping that Tyler had not noticed her folly, the Halfling would wipe a hand across her face to remove the offending ale and then lay still again. Eventually, she would feel the touch of his finger on her leg. Rolling towards him and onto her stomach, the half-elf would wriggle down in the sand to reciprocate the gesture, resting her head against the side of his thigh in the silence that so often consumed them.

Tyler found himself missing the moment Skylei spilled ale all over herself and she would be so lucky, as the human would've likely laughed himself senseless. Though as she moves closer to him and rests her head upon him, his hand would make way to begin massaging her scalp with his fingers brushing through her hair down to the roots and then back again. The sun had set over the horizon, leaving the two beneath the moonlight and the stars as many occupants of the beach had begun to vacate the area. Tyler would seem lost in thought as his eyes settled upon where the sky met the ocean, though his hand never stopped showing Skylei attention. Moments would pass before he found himself looking down to his bandages and then to his leg. Javier had peeled a large section of flesh from bone and much like his stomach Tyler found himself mentally confused as the missing meat had seem to grow back nearly over night thanks to the work of the healers that he had been less than grateful towards. He found himself flexing the muscle in his leg and rubbing at his torso once more before twisting his lips in thought. His eyes moved from the wounds back to the ocean and he seems to need no more convincing. His hand halts the petting motion on Skylei's head. He pulls her bag to his side and carefully moves her head to rest on the item, ignoring any questioning that she might offer, he rises to his feet. Brushing off excess sand from his shorts Tyler presses his wounded leg down towards the earth to apply pressure twice and finds himself wincing and taking a quick sharp breath. Upon the third try he seems a bit more comfortable and offers the bandages on his torso one more glance before his caramel eyes stare to the water once more. Starting at a slow walk Tyler begins to descend down the beach and towards the ocean, after a few feet increasing his step to a jog. Heavy breaths are given as he pushes the focus of pain out of his mind and continues until he enters a full blown sprint. Kicking sand up behind him the human finds himself moving faster, and faster and faster until his feet come in contact with the cold ocean water. He continues down until the water reaches knee height. With a swift inhale the man makes his leap, arms outstretched in front of him in a dive as he is submerged beneath the surface of the water. As the cool liquid rushes over his body it chills his skin and seems to wash away all of the worries on his mind. Feet together he propels himself further into the ocean with a dolphin like swimming motion before coming back to the surface and gasping for air before pushing his hair back. He rises and falls with each wave and allows himself to relax then float on his back as his eyes settle to the heavens once more with a smile spreading across his face he begins to treasure the peaceful moment in spite of the mans damn near insane life.

Skylei has fallen into a trancelike state as Tyler massages her head. Indeed, she is close to purring like a satisfied cat. She has little idea of how long this goes on for, and she only becomes conscious of the flow of time when the repetitive motion ends. A scowl of dissatisfaction would span her face as Tyler's warm leg is replaced by the cold of her bag and within seconds has pulled her knees up to her chest to sit up and spins round to once more look in the direction of the sea. Her gaze would reach his form soon after her begins to walk towards the water and she would watch confused for a few seconds. As he begins to jog and then run, Skylei has to suppress the urge to cry out and beg the human to be careful, but at the same time she is too engrossed in curious bewilderment at his actions to make a noise. As he makes contact with the water, the half-elf would let out a stunned gasp before bursting into hysterical giggles. Great guffaws would leave her mouth, travelling the span of the beach and even possibly reaching Tyler out at sea. Eventually, once she had managed to control her spasming diaphragm (though a tear still rolls down her face), the half-elf would take a slow jog down to the water's edge. Her shoes were kicked off somewhere up the beach and she reaches the edge of the lapping waves barefooted, shivering as each rolls over her feet and the cold sensation rises through her body. She would raise her voice to shout to Tyler, "What are you doing, you ridiculous man?" There was no criticism in her voice, rather the half-elf is thoroughly tickled by the turn of events.

Tyler breaks his gaze from the stars and brings himself into an upright position with his legs kicking against the current of the waters as he hears Skylei's voice call out from the shoreline. Rather than offering a vocal reply the human takes another deep inhale and submerges himself beneath the waves once more and begins his descent down to the oceans floor. His arms stretched out in front of him as his legs kick rapidly behind him he presses his palm into the mushy surface as he touches down at the bottom. Fiddling around for a moment and scratching at the debris below he gathers a few very small pebbles in his hand before quickly making his return to the surface. After his gasp for air he keeps his head low in the waves making it rather hard for the half elf to locate him in the dark ocean waters. His eyes squint as he pinpoints her location just on the shoreline and his right arm would raise above the waters and with a quick flick he tosses one of the small pebbles towards Skylei's head, unable to see if the hit makes it's mark he swims to his left a few more feet before taking aim and firing two more in rapid succession in an effort to draw the wood elf into the waters after him. If she took the bait and made her way into the water, Tyler planned to go beneath the surface once more and make his advancement toward her, snatch her by the leg and playfully pull her beneath the surface for a seconds time.

Skylei has no idea what's going on out at sea. Her eyes would scan the sea, attempting to spy Tyler. Whilst she is distracted looking for him, Tyler throws the pebbles towards her. Fortunately his aim is just a little off and, instead of hitting the half-elf straight in the head, one hits her squarely on her shoulder. The same shoulder that Tyler had broken a mere two weeks earlier. Though the pebble is small and not thrown in malice, the contact between it and her clothes and the skin below makes her wince slightly. The half-elf falls victim to Tyler's ploy and waves her hands at the sea furiously, in the hope that he will see that she is not best impressed. Edging a little closer to the water the half-elf gazes at the watery depths. She's clad, as always, in her ranger's leathers, even at the beach and Sky quickly realises that she'll need to shed a good few layers before she enters the sea. Leathers are thrown down on the day sand before the sea, leaving the half-elf in her light cotton underlayers. She shivers a little in the cold autumn air, before realising it is only going to get colder. Clenching her fists and face in anticipation of the icy sensation that would soon chill her bones, she would run into the water after him. As water reaches her chest, she realises she can still not see him and begins treading water, spinning to and fro in her search.

Tyler grins with his mouth still beneath the waters surface as he notices that Skylei accepts the lure. As he dives beneath the surface once more he considers using his illusions to take the form of a shark and quite literally scare the hell out of the elf but his affection for her pushes the mischievous impulse from his mind. Instead he swims in her general direction and comes up for air a few times to allow him to locate her once more. As he closes in he manages to sweep behind the wood elf and remains low in the water. He approaches silently with the only audible noise that of the crashing waves. When he is a mere foot behind the woman he makes his move. He lunges forward and his right hand would quickly wrap to the front of Skylei and grab her nostrils pulling them shut while his palm covered her mouth. His left arm wrapping her mid-section as he pulls her swiftly beneath the surface of the water for a moment before bringing her back up and releasing his hold. As he gasps for air, pushes his hair back and wipes his eyes a grin is stuck across his complexion as he fully expects a slap to come in contact with his visage for the cruel trick, though in his mind he figures it well worth it for a bit of fun.

Skylei still has absolutely no idea what is going on. This all changes when Tyler pulls her underneath the water. Weedy thing that he is, Tyler has the element of surprise and Skylei can do nothing but allow him to pull her under the water without her consent. Eyes are tightly shut as she is submersed completely in the ocean's depth and air leaves her mouth in a great bubble that pushes its way through Tyler's fingers, as she exhales from the shock of the cold. After what could not have been more than a few seconds, he allows her to come back up to the surface and she gasps to refill her lungs with oxygen. Once she can breathe again and her sodden hair has been pushed from across her face, Tyler is her first priority. She would aim a deft slap towards his cheek as punishment for submerging her in the water. "What the hell, Tyler!? Are you trying to kill me again?" With that done, she would push her lips against his. Why she was kissing him after her had been so mean, she couldn't possibly know.

Tyler finds himself laughing at Skylei's cries and even continues after the slap connects and a stinging sensation rushes over his cheek, however he is silenced as the woman locks her lips with his. With the waves washing over them Tyler wraps both arms around Skylei in a loving embrace as he kisses her back with everything he has. Once their lips part his eyes become locked with her and that devilish grin remains in spite of a now red hot cheek. His focus shifts back and forth between her eyes before he finds himself pressing his lips hard against hers once more. The man then releases his hold on the wood elf and would submerge beneath the water yet again as he maneuvers and resurfaces behind Skylei to embrace her from behind and gives a playful bite to her exposed neck before whispering in her ears in a seductive voice; "We're going to freeze to death out here." It was quite the romantic talk!

Skylei ::Tyler's words weren't that unromantic. After all, it would seem that it couldn't be true romance for the two of them unless they were facing their untimely deaths; something that seemed to be occurring with worrying frequency of late. The girl would mutter something about not caring about the cold as she presses her frozen, dripping face against his burning cheek. The warmth coming off of his cheek is actually quite pleasant for the freezing cold girl, in spite of the fact that she does feel guilty for hitting him. Indeed, it was only at this moment that she realises just how cold she has become from only a few minutes engulfed by the tides. At this realisation, Skylei would spin around in his embrace so that the two might join their lips once more, and her arms are wrapped tightly around his neck. Once the half-elf had achieved this, she would jerk her head in the direction of the shore, acknowledging that it was perhaps time for them to head back to land. Her arms however, stay tied to his neck, making it rather difficult for either of them to move.

Tyler keeps his gaze focused to the sky as he so frequently did while he pressed his face to Skylei's, though his chin would lower to allow him to face her once more as she spun around and he offered to retreat as she planted another kiss on him. He offered her only that familiar grin as he pressed his forehead to hears and returned the tight embrace around her waist as she held onto his neck. Unable to fight the current while they were locked together the waves did most of the work in carrying them back to the shore as they would be able to keep their feet planted firmly on the ocean floor once more around chest height. Tyler scrunches his nose before rubbing it against Skylei's and then providing a swift kiss on the tip just after before he managed to squirm out of her tight embrace and grabbed at her hand before ascending back to the dry shoreline. It was at this point that Tyler began to regret only wearing the shorts as his teeth chattered and he wrapped his free arm around his torso in a vein effort to provide warmth.

Skylei finds herself shivering violently as the two are brought back to the shore by the waves. As feet reach the ground, the girl feels slightly wobbly. She isn't entirely sure if she can stand up properly, and she can't tell if it's due to the cold or the passion behind Tyler's earlier kisses. As he let's go of her, and the Halfling is forced to stand alone, she wobbles a little until he grabs hold of her hand. With a grin the half-elf would accompany the human back up dry land. Bending down, she would scoop up her clothes in her arms and hold them tight to her chest; her own way of searching for warmth. She would push her body closer to Tyler's and attempt to steal another kiss as the two make their way back up the beach and to the spot where she had left her bag. That too, is scooped into her arms and the half-elf would look back up to Tyler's face, a grin plastered to her face in spite of the icy cold that had set into her bones.

Tyler happily allows another kiss to be shared between the wood elf and himself, and even retaliates with one more as she pulls away before the ascend to their initial location upon arriving at the beach. As she grabs her bag, the male offers one last look to the waters from whence they came and releases a sigh of relief as he sees the moonlight reflect from the surface of the water. He is pleased as he turns to face the elf to see her staring back at him with a beautiful smile. His fingers slide to interlace with her own as he grips her hand tightly and decides, for once, that he will shut up and simply enjoy the company of his beloved in silence as they begin their freezing walk home.
