RP:A Hunt Not For The Oly-faint Of Heart

From HollowWiki

Summary: After deciding that the guild members will take turns hosting a hunt in their respective areas of expertise, Meri is the first up with a trip to Gualon. The heat is the first adversary they must tackle (at least for Aira and Khitti), closely followed by an unusually aggressive olyphont. After stampeding a bunch of bandits, the women discover that the bull's aggression stems from a tight chain digging into his neck and causing a deep wound. The trio make a quick decision to help the beast instead of slaying him, giving the olyphont a second chance.

Desert Oasis

Meri :: Word is sent to both Khitti and Aira, requesting that they meet her for one of those hunts that they discussed. It seems that true to Meri’s word, she has indeed picked the Gualon area...except she did not pick the mucky swamps for them to wade through and their target is not a swamp elemental. Their target is an olyphont, the letter explains, and they are known to inhabit two areas: Rynvale and Gualon. Obviously Aira has requested they avoid Rynvale, so they will be meeting Meri in Gualon. Included in this letter is a map, hand drawn by Meri. The artist has never claimed that cartography is amongst her skills but it’s really not much of a surprise that she’d be able to provide a decently accurate rendition of the lands. Based on this map, Meri wanted them to meet her at a small village that was a short distance away the southern oasis. She hoped that they would be able to arrive by early sundown, so that they’d be able to avoid hunting in the heat of the desert. No matter what time of day Meri wanted to begin this hunt, traveling to the location that Meri asked would be no easy task. But! We’re all rangers here, it wasn’t the most easy terrain to travel but they’d be able to manage. Also included in the letter is a bit of light research on olyphonts. The summary of which is basically this: they are hunting an over-sized elephant. It’s hide is particularly thick so most weapons are not useful against it, unless you can hit it in a sweet spot and it does not have many of them. Archers like to go for the eyes. When the hunting party did arrive, Meri would not at all be hard to find. She’s posted up at the perimeter of the village, having found a shady spot to claim for herself while she waits.

Aira received Meri's letter and immediately began making preparations to travel from Frostmaw to Gualon. This will be fine, the huntress thinks. She spent many more years in Rynvale than she did in Frostmaw, and while her previous island home wasn't a desert, she pretty confident she'll be fine in the heat. One look at the vixen's flushed face shows just how wrong she was. Despite the shorts and breathable cotton shirt she wears, Aira is clearly more an arctic foxkin now than anything else. "Hey!" she says when she spies Meri, grabbing the fabric of her shirt and pulling it away from her sticky skin, silently thanking the Horned Ones for the cooler air by the water. The longer locks of her platinum blonde hair are tamed high atop her head and her bow is pulled across her body, the arrows in the quiver on her back clattering softly as booted feet carry her towards the werewolf. "Bit different than Frostmaw," she admits with a grin before heaving a sigh, slipping her hand into her back pocket to pull out the map and letter she had received from Meri, copper eyes scanning the information. "So we are hunting an...oly-phont," she repeats slowly, the pronunciation slightly off. "They are like mammoths but no hair, yes?" Aira was a great mammoth slayer so she was quite excited at the prospect of taking down its cousin. "How are you feeling, by the way?" she quickly adds, managing to remember her manners.

Khitti ’s been to that desert exactly once. This one time was to rescue Lionel from his own stupidity when he thought it’d be a good idea to go to the Shadow Plane to confront Kahran. She’d been too late, of course. While she’d had that gut feeling that things would go wrong, her indecisiveness about helping him bit her in the arse in the end. So she had to wait. A long time. In the desert. Thank all the gods that she’d taken Tenbatsu Kaji with her. Thank all the gods that the sprite within the sword had to ability to project a protective aura to shield Khitti from the scorching heat and the sun’s rays. She -was- a pale redhead after all. She would’ve been burnt to a crisp in no time! (And she’s already been burnt to a crisp twice in the past and wasn’t keen on it happening again.) So, with that unfortunate experience in mind--and despite the fact that they were doing this around sundown, Khitti still made the effort to dress appropriately and in addition to her bow, brought that katana of hers just in case. The weird thing about all of this? Khitti was wearing white. She never wore white. -Ever-. The outfit was something akin to the soft black leathers that she usually wore on a hunt, to the point of it being fitted with a hood as well. Much like Aira, Khitti showed up on that Tikifhlee of hers with her face as red as her hair and sweat dripping down her face. “Come oooonnnnn, nighttime. You’re taking your dear sweet time getting here and going as slowly as molasses in the winter.” Khitti was speaking to no one in particular just yet. Maybe she was delirious (moreso than usual). The templar slithered her way off the side of her now very pregnant feline mount, whispered to it to go rest and find some shade, and wandered over to Aira and Meri, trying hard not to melt into a puddle beside the two. “I think I’m gonna have to leave Brand and move to Frostmaw after this. I’m definitely more acclimated to mountain-type weather,” Khitti said with a smirk. “So, where’s this thing at?”

Meri (1 of 2) :: Aira is the first to arrive and she is greeted with a slow grin. Khitti is not far behind her arrival, so Meri waits for her to get near enough before speaking. The two women do not seem to be taking to the warmer climates and Meri chuckles. It was hot, but she was not suffering the same way that they were. Frostmaw was too cold for her tastes, she could live with the desert heat. “Aye, pretty much like a mammoth with no hair. Maybe slightly larger? But the same idea, yes.” A beat. “And I am feeling great.” Another pause between statements, letting her blue eyes flit between the faces of her comrades for a brief moment before she stirs the subject away from the pleasantries and on to the business of the hunt. “This thing is often spotted not too far away from here, from what I gather. I was sitting here trying to figure out what we should try and hunt, when I heard word that an olyphont has been causing a ruckus for this village. Which is not really the norm. Usually they don’t bother those oversized beasts and the beasties respond the same. It’s not like their carnivores, you know?” As Meri is explaining this, she is leading their little hunting party away from the village they met at and toward the oasis.

Meri (2 of 2) :: Tracking in the desert was tricky, the sand dunes did not retain tracks for very long for the winds often picked up. Dust devils and sandstorms were not uncommon in these parts. There was not much in the way of foliage in these parts for an oversized beast to disturb. What they did have was the close proximity of water, which is what Meri was leading them toward. The oasis. It was a reasonable starting point, they could spend their energy trapeziing through the heated and seemingly endless dunes. Or they could use less energy and dedicate some time waiting for their target to hopefully come to them. Most beasts thirst after some time, and the sources of water in the desert were limited. If not this oasis, there was one to the north. This one was closer to the village that reports being troubled by this olyphont. As they draw closer, there are no visuals on the olyphont, but there are a number of other animals congregating at this watering hole. Most look harmless, like a couple of camels and a small grouping of desert antelope. Except on the far side of the oasis, trouble could be spotted. Not in the form of a creature, but man. A band of outlaws, and they have noticed the hunting party as well. Given the distance, it was hard to tell what the outlaws were doing but there was definitely a flurry of activity in the bunch. Going for their weapons? Planning an attack? This was more than likely the case, but at least the hunting party had time to prepare themselves for any unwise ideas these outlaws might think up as they still had an oasis between them. They could tangle with this potential threat, but in the end the outlaws were not on the radar for this hunt. That is not to say that there are not signs that what they are hunting has not been here. There is a very large pile of dung, not near the hunters current location but it has been left near the oasis itself.

Aira shifts her gaze towards Khitti when she mentions leaving Brand and moving to Frostmaw after this hunt, and the vixen grins. "You're welcome to stay with Kahn and me, as long as you can put up with his grumpiness." And probably her own, if she was being completely honest, but she doesn't say that. Aira trails after Meri as she leads them away from the encampment, explaining more about the olyphont and this predicament with its troublesome behavior towards the village. "Do you know what type of ire it's causing? That seems odd unless there was a provocation or something wrong with the beast itself." As the trio continue to walk towards the body of water, the vixen scowls at the sand. She never was a fan of it, even when she lived in Rynvale. It made it difficult for her to run away quickly if need be, not to mention the particles got into her clothes and stuck to her skin making her itchy. Add a furry tail and ears into the mix, it was a nightmare. As they approach the oasis, the vixen's eyes widen as she espies the camels, never having seen such a creature before. "What are those?" she asks in a quiet voice; with the lack of foliage and trees she wasn't sure how much her voice would carry and she didn't want to startle them. "They are like mares but bigger. And with bumps on their backs." Aira is just about to get sidetracked from their hunt by getting closer to the camels when movement across the way demands her attention. She sees the men and the vulpine ears atop her head flatten. In seemingly no time at all, Aira's bow is pulled off her back, and an arrow knocked into place. She makes no move to draw the string back or aim in the outlaws' direction; however, it never hurt to be prepared. While her gaze lingers on the band of men for a moment, she shifts to take in the remaining circumference of the body of water where that large pile of dung is noticed. It seemed their olyphont frequented this oasis and hopefully the group would be able to avoid scouring the desert heat after all.

Khitti grinned back at Aira, “Brand’s one of the grumpiest people I’ve ever met, so this is fine.” She was certainly grumpy too at times. Khitti had been nodding along to Meri’s explanation as they waded through the sand towards the oasis, and had opened her mouth to say something, when she caught the movements of those bandits out of the corner of her eye. They’re met with a look of disdain, followed by a smirk once it was made obvious that they likely meant to attack. “I’m fine with hunting people too,” she said, drawing her sword. Khitti opted to play the role of a melee ranger today, allowing Aira and Meri to do their thing from afar. “Speaking of Brand--Meri, don’t tell him that I might be pulling a Lionel today.” And by that, of course, she meant that she was going to be going right into the fray should any of the bandits come running at them. If they did? Well, they’d be introduced to Tenbatsu Kaji and a whole lot of holy fire. Otherwise, Khitti’d content herself with keeping an eye out for that olyphont, “I wonder if they’re the reason the olyphont’s been attacking.”

Meri (1 of 3) :: Meri nods at Aira’s question, “Trade wagons that encounter the bull as they travel through the deserts end up demolished, so the villagers are not getting the supplies that they need. That sort of thing...And they are called camels. They are like desert horses.” Khitti’s words are regarded with a smirk, “What? Why would I tell? So he can try and keep you from coming out on future hunts?” Well, even if Brand did try that, it would not work out in his favor. This is what happens when you shack up with a red-head, Brand. “Pffft.” The banter finds an end, quickly.

Meri (2 of 3) :: The flurry of activity intensifies amongst the band of outlaws, and it is not mystery has to why. A beast as tall as a house has appeared on the ridge of one of the dunes and has decided that the outlaws are an unwelcome guest at this watering hole. A bull of an olyphont is soon charging down the dune toward the outlaws, and they really stand no chance against it and they realize it. The ground trembles with every stamp of the large beast’s foot. What the women are about to witness here is the logic of an outlaw at it’s finest, they all scatter in different directions and it very much becomes an every man for themselves scenario. Most are able to escape, but the bull manages to snake his trunk around the body of one outlaw. This poor unfortunate soul is lifted up off the ground with barely an effort and given a tight squeeze, so hard that every bone in his torso is broken. Content with the damage that has been dealt, the olyphont throws the now limp outlaw into the waters of the oasis. If the outlaw was alive prior to being thrown, he’ll probably drown now. This olyphont is definitely living up to the description that the villagers have provided to Meri, it does seem to be unusually aggressive….and why will soon become obvious to the rangers. Now that the outlaws have scattered, the olyphont sets its sights on the other unwelcome beings at it’s favored watering hole, and it’s not the harmless animals that seem to be pulling it’s attention but the three women. It’s on the move again, this time stampeding it’s way over to the women. “Ah crap,” Meri exclaims, having readied her bow the moment the olyphont had started raging against the outlaws. “This is not going to be good.”

Meri (3 of 3) :: As it draws closer, the women would be able to see that there is a barbed chain wrapped around the olyphont’s neck. Except that is a simplified explanation. By the looks of it, a group of people were probably attempting to use this chain as a way to capture the olyphont. Clearly they were unsuccessful, but the chain has been wrapped around the neck of the olyphont so tightly and for so long as that it has been rubbing the skin around the neck raw, to the point that there is now an angry and open wound and parts of the chain are stained red with the blood. Every movement is probably painful for the bull, no wonder it is so pissed off...and at people. Maybe Khitti was right, maybe the bandits did have something to do with why the olyphont was so angry, maybe they were the reason that chain was around it’s neck to begin with. The rangers were now faced with a choice, one that Meri vocalizes it, “Should we kill it? Or should we try and help it? Maybe it won’t be so pissed off if we can get that chain off it’s neck?” Killing it would be easier, but what would the rangers really gain from the hunt? The glory of killing an olyphont? Whatever decision is made, they would have to make it soon or else they’d suffer the same fate as that one lone outlaw that could not escape. Or worse. An arrow is knocked and drawn taught, Meri attempting to take aim for one of the olyphont’s eyes. She does not fire yet, waiting for the group to make the decision: kill or help.

Aira wrinkles her nose when Khitti mentions not telling Brand about pulling a "Lionel". She knew who he was, of course, but she didn't know what the phrase meant. The vixen ends up shaking her head and forcing her focus back to task at hand but Meri is answering Khitti's plead and that crinkle in the bridge of her nose is back. "Does Brand not approve of you throwing yourself into hunts?" Aira tries to imagine what would happen if Kahn tried to say the same to her. She would probably shoot him. Their banter is soon interrupted by the trembling of the ground and the arrival of the aggressive bull olyphont that they were to be hunting. She watches as the outlaws scatter, leaving their counterparts to deal with the beast while they make their own escape. The vixen winces as the one bandit is picked up in the olphont's trunk and and squeezed so that his bones break before being tossed into water. At least that was one less threat they had to worry about. Unfortunately, the girls seem to be the next target of aggression and Aira swears under her breath in sylvan, drawing her arrow back slightly and pointing it towards the beast without taking actual aim. The question about his unusual temperament is answered upon seeing the chain wrapped around its throat, the huntress swallows thickly, her copper eyes darkening. She would be aggressive towards whomever had done that to her as well. She is vaguely wondering if they can help him before Meri's vocalizes her thoughts. Sure to kill him would be easier as well as a great feat, a trophy, and plenty of meat to go around. But still... "We need a fast plan to remove it, if that's what we're going to do." Already, Aira is taking a few side steps to get a better look a the beast as he charges their way. "If we can, I vote we take the chain off. But this is our collective hunt, led by you, Meri. What do you two want to do?"

Khitti || “It’s not the hunts. It’s the fighting bad guys thing. He’s not so bad about it now, but after I died and came back, he was a bit overprotective for awhile, especially after Kahran started his whole ongoing murder party. Meri and Lionel were too, and for good reason--seeing as how I’m not a vampire anymore. But, I think he’s realized that I’m gonna do what I’ve always done and that’s usually get myself into trouble. Which includes running up to bad guys when the need calls for it, to get all stabby,” Khitti told Aira with a nonchalant shrug, “I try to not tell him that I’m getting myself beat up when I can help it. That way I don’t drive him to drink… anymore than he already does.” Khitti side-eyed the ground, coughing awkwardly. “Uhhhhhhhh,” was all Khitti could manage when that olyphont stampeded towards them and infinitely made things just a tad more difficult. “I mean I’m all for helping it, but how? I could use that spell Ulah taught me, the one that I used on you to calm you down when you were all not nice and wolfy, but I have no idea if it’ll work on something that big or if it works on creatures that are not actually people or even how I’d get close enough to it without ending up like that guy in the water.” There was a lot of uncertainty, enough that Khitti’s indecisiveness was made all the worse. At the very least, in an attempt to stop the beast, she’d throw up a wall of holy fire between them. It could potentially piss the olyphont off more, if it decided to plow through the flames. Mindful of this, Khitti didn’t put her full power into the fire, the golden flames dancing above the equally golden sand, instead of the usual deep red that mirrored the aura of her sword. “It may be that we have to put it down anyway, if the wound’s too bad, but I’d rather not kill it when things haven’t exactly been fair for it lately. It wouldn’t make me feel like the best hunter in the world. It’s too easy of a target.”

Meri heard Aira’s words, the vote was processed and she knew what she was feeling in her heart as well. Khitti’s words, and her vote was processed. Killing this beast did not seem right, given what they were seeing. It was not being aggressive without reason, and it seemed they were all on the same page. Maybe they could help it, but Aira was right, they barely had time to formulate a plan of action. Khitti throws up that wall of holy fire, which buys them a bit of time to formulate a plan. The olyphont seemed to have some reservations about plowing through the wall of fire. As angry as it was, it seemed to have the wisdom to know that fire was a painful thing. “Let’s go for it. Your resident psion will try and restrain it long enough for you to get in to cast this spell, hopefully. And hopefully it will take. And then maybe then we can get the chain off.” A glass bauble is passed off to Aira, “And maybe just in case the spell does not take, you can try and sedate the beast with this stuff. I don’t really know if it will take though. I have never actually tried to drug an olyphont.” Not many probably have, so who knows what sort of dosage it would be required to put such a beast to sleep. How exactly Aira would put the bauble to use was up to her. It was a delicate little thing that was full of a fine grained powder, so as long as Meri was able to deliver on her promise to restrain it may not be too difficult. Maybe between the spell and the sedative, they would be able to at least determine if they could remove the chain and how badly the injuries were. A wink is given to Khitti before Meri leaves the side of the two women, making her way to the edge of the holy flame. She did not need Khitti to lower the fire in order to attempt to use her telekinetic abilities to restrain the olyphont, but it would not be able to stay up for long. As Khitti probably knew from their hunt of the leviathan, the larger the beast the harder it was for Meri to use her psionic abilities for prolonged periods of time. If they were hunting a mouse, she could keep it trapped all day and night. Meri’s bow is lowered and her gaze is narrowed, focusing all of her mind on the olyphont. Her thoughts are on keeping it’s four feet rooted to the sands and it’s trunk stilled, that way neither Aira or Khitti are smacked in their attempts to help. If this plan was to take motion, Khitti and Aira would have to do it now and fast. Even with Meri concentrating hard, the olyphont was putting up a fight of it’s own. It certainly looked like at any given second it might be able to lift it’s foot….which could be deadly for the hunting party.

Aira could understand Brand's over protectiveness surrounding Khitti given her previous death and the whole not being a vampire thing anymore. She supposed if she had been in that position and Kahn acted similarly, she wouldn't have shot him after all. As the girls converse, the olyphont continues to stampede in their direction, and with her quick thinking, the templar throws up a wall of protective fire that could help or hinder them. For now, the vixen is erring on the side of positive thinking and embracing the fire wall as a help to their predicament. "I have the arrowheads dipped in a sedative," she offers, "but I don't think it's strong enough to bring the beast down and its hide it going to make it hard to penetrate without going for somewhere soft and fleshy which could harm him further," Aira says with a frown. Still, it seems the three women have agreed that at least an attempt to free the olyphont from the chain should be made so if, worse case scenario they had to kill him, they could at least say they tried. Aira lowers her bow in favor of accepting the bauble of sedative powder and nods, slipping the arrow back into her quiver and tugging the bow back over her body. She didn't want to shoot the beast and cause further harm, so trying to drug him would have to be done differently. Would she try and get close enough to administer the drug in his mouth?! "Maybe don't mention this to Kahn, either," she mumbles to Khitti before likewise moving to the edge of the fire wall, opposite the werewolf. As Meri works her psionic powers and the templar manages the fire and her other spell, the huntress makes the decision to do something incredibly stupid. She sprints towards the great beast (as best she can given the damned sand) and approaches the olyphont. It was important to trust your pack, and the vixen is proving to both Meri and Khitti how much she trusts the pair of them to keep the beast under control as she approaches his trunk. If Khitti's spell didn't work, Aira would shimmy up his trunk (much like she did with the trees in Frostmaw) and attempt to get the sedative powder orally while Meri was hopefully still able to hold him down. If not, well then the vixen might be joining the bandit in the bottom of the oasis.

Khitti couldn’t help but grin at Aira’s request of not telling Kahn that she’s going to do something stupid, despite the danger the three of them were in. Once that brief bit of amusement had passed, she focused on the task at hand. With Aira making her way towards the beast, Khitti snuffed out her flames entirely, choosing now to dedicate her magic solely to the tranquility spell the elf paladin, Ulah, had taught her. The channeled spell flowed from Khitti’s hands, the holy magic sparkling like glitter, dancing along a breeze. It didn’t work, however. The spell seemed to be for humanoids only and Khitti muttered some very unpleasant curses before thinking quick as to how to aid the other two. Not quite using the spell as intended, she sent the holy magic in short bursts near the olyphont’s face, hoping to at least capture its attention long enough for Aira to shove the sedative down its throat. It was probably for the better, anyway. Depending on how badly the chain had dug into its neck, it might take a hell of a lot of magic to heal--if it’s even worth healing at all, that is.

Meri :: The plan was set into motion and everyone was playing their part. Khitti gets close enough to administer her spell just as Aira gets close enough to try and shimmy up a trunk….and that’s when things start to go awry. Just as the spell is administered, Meri loses her psionic hold on the olyphont and one of it’s big feet starts to lift up from the earth. It makes it about three feet off the ground before it is slammed back down toward the earth. Khitti’s spell did not seem to be working, not like it did with Meri, but the psionc could barely process these details. All of her focus was on trying to hold the olyphont still, and she was slipping on that role. At least Khitti was quick with the distractions. Aira was likely going to be forced to shimmy up the trunk of the olyphont so that she can attempt to administer the sedative. She’ll be in for a ride of her own and better be holding on tight, because that trunk begins to struggle against the telekinetic abilities holding it still. Just as the bauble is thrown into the olyphont’s mouth, Meri loses her hold on the olyphont completely and the beast comes to life. It’s trunk is reared up, like it were about to try and throw Aira off of it’s snout and toward the ground. Maybe into Khitti. Things are not looking good! But the sedative is able to make quick work on the beast. The towering beast feels much calmer suddenly, so much that it is trunk is slowly lowered...hopefully with Aira still on it. The bull begins to drop down into kneeling position, but that was just the start. Ultimately olyphont would end up laying on it’s side on the desert sand, because it really suddenly just wanted to take a nice little nap. For who knows how long though. Meri’s psionic feats have left her feeling a little drained, but now was not the time to slack around. Once she made sure that everything was alright with Khitti and Aira, Meri would be quick to start trying to remove the chain from around the olyphont’s neck. “Aira, you want to help me? Khitti? You figure out if this guy is going to be able to recover from this injury?” The chain has definitely done damage, but it has done torn so deep that bone is shown. There might be hope that the olyphont could live, he certainly seemed to still have demonstrated that he had a fighting spirit and was not ready to give in to death. However, nature was cruel and offered no certainties.

Aira gives it only a few moments before she figures out Khitti's attempted spell is not working. So it seems she's going to have to do the stupid thing after all. In the grand scheme of stupid things, the huntress slides this under stabbing herself in the stomach in an attempt to force Orikahn's hand in returning to Frostmaw after that nasty run with his evil goddess--so really, it's not the -dumbest- thing she's ever done. She doesn't spare too much time thinking about it as she launches herself at the trunk and begins the ascent, grunting with the exertion. She can feel the olyphont putting up a fight against Meri's psionic abilities and she attempts to move a bit faster. She just manages to throw the bauble of sedative powder into the beast's mouth when the olyphont comes to life and with a squeal, Aira quickly wraps her arms back around the trunk and holds on for life as he begins to swing her around in an attempt to dismount her. The huntress's knees dig into his flesh and she is once more silently praying to the Horned Ones (who are honestly probably rolling their eyes at her) when he suddenly begins to still. The sedative begins to work and the trunk is slowly lowering. Once she is close enough to the ground to attempt a jump she does so, shaking out of her limbs to bring some feeling back into them. Aside from being a little shaken and some sore muscles, Aira was fine. "You okay?" she says quickly moving to Meri's side, before looking back at Khitti. "And you? Thanks for the distractions!" Once she's sure everyone is well enough, the huntress joins the werewolf at the olyphont's neck and begins to examine the chain. "It's nasty," she observes once they get close enough. "But he's strong, and determined."

Khitti was grateful to whichever god decided to help her out today--even if it was just in the form of the moral support she was secretly begging for--that she managed to not -entirely- frak things up today. Just, you know, mostly. The sedative found its new home within the beast’s stomach and eventually Aira was allowed to put her two feet on the ground again. Khitti was fine, and nodded in the affirmative at the vixen before eyeing Meri with a slight frown. How long had it been since Meri had to use that much of her mental energy? It’d been before Fleur was born, at least. “You two take a breather and I’ll deal with this.” They’d done quite a bit more work than her, after all. Hoping to do something right this time, Khitti did what was needed to remove the chain and tossed it into the sand nearby. The wound was grave indeed as the other two had pointed out, but likewise the olyphont definitely still had quite a bit of fight in him. The redhead drew in a deep breath and let it out in a heavy sigh before moving her hands to hover above the worst part of its throat. Holy magic glowed, forming a collar of its own around the olyphont’s neck, though this one wasn’t intended to harm it. Healing spell shifted in hue, from gold, to orange, then to red. It was going to take all of her magic in order to close the wound and this was certainly one of those times that Khitti’d missed having dark magic. Before she lost it, she’d been in the process of learning how to manipulate flesh, for the purpose of healing. It felt like it took less out of her to do things that way. But, Khitti didn’t have that option now. Instead, she poured all of her energy and focus into sealing up as much of the injury as she could; the bone disappeared beneath newly healed muscle, and layers of skin re-grew themselves slowly. By the time Khitti was out of magic, the wound was better than before, though not quite gone. “It should be alright to heal on its own, though I should probably come back in a couple days to check on it. Hopefully he won’t be so grumpy then. Might be able to persuade him with some food.” Khitti sighed again, then looked towards the other two, “I think it’s probably time to go home now. I don’t think we want to be here when he wakes up.”

Meri nods, affirming to Aira that she was okay and by all appearances, this seemed to be accurate. Meri looked tired, but not a hair on her head had been touched by the olyphont. No injuries were sustained. Meri gives Khitti and Aira a once over to assess how they fared in all of this madness, and as far as she could tell they were well. Probably tired also, but well. From there, Meri is silent. She watched on as her sister do her best to give the olyphont a fighting chance. What more could they really do? “We should definitely get out of here before it wakes up.” Meri agrees with Khitti. “Because we definitely do not want to be here when he first wakes up. Even if long term he ends up less grumpy, he’s going to be pissed when he first comes to. I sure would be.” Meri is already ushering the party away from the olyphont. “I’ll come back too. We’ll check on it together,” Meri says in further agreement with what Khitti is saying.

Aira steps out of the way when Khitti offers to not only remove the chain but to deal with the injury as well. The huntress is no great healer, she normally would just throw some moss on it and call it a day. But the templar possessed holy magic that could do so much more good than she. Aira rolls her left shoulder and winces as it gives an audible pop, watching curiously at the glowing magic engulfs his neck and shifts in color before dissipating, leaving the wound looking considerably better than it had before. She bobs her head in agreement, that leaving the scene before the beast woke up was best; however, the huntress leans down to gather the bloodied chain to take with her in order to dispose of it properly. "We'll all come back," she agrees with the others before following her fellow guild members away from the olyphont.
