RP:A Evening At The Hanging Corpse

From HollowWiki

Synopsis Joan decides to spend time at the Hanging Corpse tavern after she finishes off a recent quest with Pyde, in there as she relaxes an undead gentleman comes in followed close by the kitten Daisy! Joan greets both and then as the undead follow seems lost in his own personal thoughts Joan turns to catch up and speak with Daisy. In the process of idle chit-chat, Joan gifts Daisy a shiny mermaid scale and with maybe a quest for the feline to find out about it for the both of them.

Hanging Corpse Tavern

Joan had spent this evening winding down from her latest adventure, the evening before she and her fellow guildmate the fermin Pyde had set up one of many defenses for the Necromancers' guild at the headquarters of the Black Spire. Joan had a hot cup of spiked hot chocolate near her as she had her feet kicked up and out, heels relaxing in a wooden chair pulled out slightly of across from her. Upon the clean table before her was her own personal spell book, next to it sat her guild tome with the guild's symbol clearly seen on the closed cover, now and then she would scribble in her own book with a pencil, the vampiric healer the picture of quite content.

Jorix has a smell entering the tavern before himself. In the land of the dead, where often the air was stagnant and any interesting smell would hang in place for days, he was a purveyor of something... different. His footsteps fell heavy on the floorboards as he stepped inside the 'Corpse. Upon his back sat a rather boxy-looking backpack that emanated a smell that could only be described as buttered cream and charcoal smoke. Truth be told, the bag might actually have been smoldering from the wisps of white that curled from the edges of the main flap as the merfolk made his way to a table. Taking a seat, he padded the side pockets of his bag in hopes that his fingers would find what he was searching for before he had a reason to turn and look properly. A small notebook is produced and a piece of writing coal with it as he begins to mark things off of his daily to-do list. Were it not for the other patron across the creaky floorboards he might have been lost entirely in this small binding of papers. Instead, he offers a sharpened-tooth smile and a nod of the head. His eyes lower back to his work but he shifts to actively keep the right side of his face away from his tavern mate this evening.

Daisy isn't too far behind the fishy boi, but she is hardly the picture-perfectness of content that the pretty little Joan is. Nono. She darts and slams and stumbles backward a little before turning to take a breath. Whew! Sometimes a druid needs a thing and sometimes that thing is in Vailkrin and sometimes places have to be gotten to. But that was then, and this is now and you, dear friends, are not ready to hear stories about what she was in them woods looking for since we are not at campfires with the marshmallows and chocolate and them honey crackers with the h in them no one knows exactly where it belongs. Focus! Breathe. In. Out. She looks about and spots the only one she knows. "Joan."

Joan taps the eraser end of her pencil against her icy pale lips as she thinks to herself, she makes a notation in her spell book before looking up upon hearing more patrons enter into the tavern. The lingering wafting scent that seemed to proceed the gentleman before him didn't give Joan much pause, she would offer a return smile with a hint of fang as well as an idle little wave of her pencil towards the fellow, she would also offer a kind and polite 'Hello' towards him, that was Joan after all kind and polite, at least to strangers. As she heard the cute little furry Neko's voice of her name the vampiric healer would offer a heartfelt wave to the kitten, "Hey there pretty kitty, come join me for a cuppa and some snacks. I do owe you for last time." She calls out to that fluffy hairball.

Daisy pads her way by the scented merfolk over there to her Joan. She passes the dandy and the monkey tail of a cane it holds. That was a long time ago, kitten. I think we all hope the wizard is doing well. She smiles softly to herself and climbs up onto a chair there by Joan. Standing on the seat, she makes it her business to put her nose in Joan's as she looks over the books and papers and bits of this and that on the table. "I like snacks."

Joan chuckles as Daisy examines Joan's personal spell book she had open on the table before her, using her pencil the vampiric healer points out the notation Joan made about Daisy written down, there was a rough sketch of the gem used to capture the soul of the dead pirate they came upon that day. "Good, order what you like from Steadmen, I'm buying this go around." As the gentleman seemed lost in his own thoughts Joan would respect his quietness and turn her full focus on the blonde-furred ray of kitten-ness.

Daisy never really was one to write down her exploits. It's all just kept up there in her little noggin to be remembered from time to time when needed. These records were probably needed for her guild or some such. "Thank you." She orders some nibbles and a sip before sitting on the bit of table not covered in Joan's things. "Do you live here?"

Joan quirks one finely shaped amethyst brow upwards as she regards the kitten, "In town yes, I have a charming little cottage at the end of the Cul-de-Sac of Nightshade Avenue, you wander down the road east of here and take a turn south of the blood fountain. Follow down past The Stich and Pin Ink's charming boutique and you should be able to find my cottage. You are welcome to come visit when you feel the urge. Tho, please don't make a mess if you do visit, I am rather a neat freak as I have my personal little library stashed in there." Joan said as she put her pencil in the open pages of her personal spell book before shutting it close a curious glance was given to Daisy as the kitten nibbled away on the snacks Stedman delivered to their table, Joan making her own choice of the snacks and nibbled away before asking what the kitten was doing in Vailkrin. "What brings you up here little one?"

Daisy likes that Joan likes to say a lot of things every time they get together. It means that she doesn't have to use a lot of her own words. Ah, but now there are questions for her that require answers - answers that don't always need a lot of words if you know how to give them. She brushes her little hands together to dust them of crumbs and pulls out a small handkerchief from her bag. There is a look to her left and then one to her right. That mirror just there sees behind her before she leans into Joan with a whispered smirk and opens the corner of the fabric to expose some organic trimmings. "Some gifts only start in Vailkrin." The handkerchief is quickly folded up and tucked away the second another patron gets too close for her liking.

Joan quirks her other brow upwards as she examines what the blonde fluff ball had gathered, "Interesting, hmm...might I add something to your little pile?" She asked before digging down into her low-slung satchel, out she pulled a shiny rainbow-colored mermaid scale, which she held up and out to Daisy while saying, "I felt bad about the last time we met, you helped me with my task, and you only got a few coppers and silvers in your own search of that ship. To make it up to you would you take this?"

Daisy leans in close to take a peek at that scale between those fingers. Eyes cross the closer she gets. Joan sure does know how to get the druid's attention! "Mkay." And shiny things are just the perfect little bit. "What's it do."

Joan shrugs as she hands over the pretty shiny rainbow-colored mermaid scale to the kitten druid. "Honestly I dunno...but you can find out for the both of us, yeah?" That said Joan would lean back in her chair and take up her mug of blood spiked hot chocolate, taking a long sip as she watches Daisy and her reaction.

Daisy turns the little trinket over between her little fingers with a gleam in her eyes. A quest! Joan has given her a quest and with quests come rewards and with rewards come more snacks. Usually. Ok so maybe there won't be snacks or rewards, but that isn't going to stop the kitten from questing anyway. "Thank you." The scale is tucked away in her bag before she hops down from the table and floofs her hair. Now that snacks and sips have been had, it is time to get on with the present delivering and questing. "I'll find your house, no mess." She makes Joan that promise and heads out on her way.
