Summary: Kailani's got a baby dragon and Orion's just a blushing mess.

Laurelle's Lake

The time of day is still early in the morning, as in the sun is just starting to creep up into the sky. Kailani is up, as per the norm, but this morning is going to be slightly different than past mornings that Orion has experienced at the lake. See, that agreement that they stay on their respective side of the lakes is about to be violated...and at a very early hour. Orion is about to get a wake up call, if he's not already up. The druid covers the distance from her side of the lake to his and completely forgets her manners. Was she supposed to knock on his tent? Well she's not entirely sure how that would work out if she had even considered it, she doesn't though. She barges in out of sheer excitement and greets him with, "Orion!" Hopefully he's home! Please note, excitement, not fear, or panic. The little lake camp is not being invaded or attacked, not today at least. She's just got something cool to show him, well...cool to a reclusive druid.

Orion was sound asleep in his small-ish simple tent. His axe lays just next to his makeshift pillow stuffed with feathers, of course. His bed? Just a bunch of pelts laid ontop of each other on the ground. It wasn't much but it put him to sleep. The man wasn't one to be startled so easy. His name being called closeby causes him to roll over and pull his deer pelt blanket over his head. He wasn't upset or angry. He was just tired. He may be tired but he wasn't rude. Under his blanket a muffled, "Hi Kai," can be heard. Slowly, he pulled the blanket down just far enough to expose his eyes, "Mornin'?"

Kailani was definitely not a place to judge Orion's bed, just composed of different pelts. Really the druid does not spend too much time dwelling over the state of the man's tent, she's far too concerned with waking the tired man up. "Wake up, please and thank you," she says with a lopsided grin, nudging what she presumes to be his foot so gently with her own boot-covered foot. Really that was the only piece of armor the druid has managed to put on this morning. She's already backing out of his space, "Come on, follow me. Hurry up or you might miss it." Kailani is also not trying to be rude, but she doesn't wait for an answer. She's far too excited for things like patience right now, it's a rare moment. If Orion follows...? Kailani's going to lead him back to her place and inside. It's not much fancier than Orion's. She's got a bear pelt for a blanket for example, and apparently a fairly sizable egg inside. It rests in an earthy nest, the ground surrounding the egg slightly warmer than normal. No, Orion. It's not breakfast, this egg is cracked and hatching.

Orion mumbles something quietly as he disappears back under his blanket. Something about staying up too late and drinking a little too much. This tiredness is no one's fault but his own. Kailani's words did put a little fire under his butt though. She sounded excited about something and that brought a bit more life back to the bardbarian. He throws the blanket off of him to reveal he slept in his boots and pants. The man barely had a shirt on lately. Kai's little kick finally brought him up and out of the tent to follow close behind the druid, "Right behind. I don't want to miss it!...whatever it is!" Grim seems to appear from behind the tent but Orion holds up a hand as he turns around to face his pal, "Wait here, bud." Grim makes an unapproving noise and dives into the water instead. Arriving just inside Kai's home, he pauses as he notices the egg, "What..What type of egg is that, Miss Kailani?!" The man takes a few steps forward and squats down near the nest, "This is exciting!" Careful not to startle whatever creature awaits inside, he quickly covers his mouth and looks to Kailani with a slight smirk. The anticipation is suddenly killing him. Are they about to be parents? Or..Kailani is? Another member of the..sudden village/camp?!

Poor Grim. Hit with a double whammy, not only is he told to stay but Kailani has even forgotten to say hello. Really, she's on a roll this morning. Blame that excitement. Kailani will be sure to give him a chance to get in on this fun, because yes..there is another member being added to this sudden village/camp. By virtue of him being present when this little dragonling hatches, the newest addition will probably have an equally soft spot for both him and Kailani. Kailani plops herself on her makeshift bed, waiting for the egg to finish hatching. She's trying to resist the urge to help it along, let the little dragon emerge on his own. "If the merchant was an honest one," questionable, but in this interaction Tiber was honest enough, "Then it is a dragon." A blue one, through no intentional decision of Kailani. The antsy druid is just about to move forward to try and pluck a piece of the shell away when the newest addition decides it's time! Out of the shell it goes, but the first thing the little dragon clings to is not Kailani. Naw, it attaches itself to Orion's beard. Hi, pops.

Orion was definitely resisting the urge to pick at the shell to help the baby along but he knows better. Always let nature run its course when it comes to stuff like this. Attention is shifted from the egg to Kailani. He listens to her words while taking in her little home. It was quite cozy and welcoming, at least to him. His eyes light up at the word dragon. He shifts his focus back to the egg in time to catch the blue dragon freeing itself and attaching itself to his beard, "Oh!" Orion carefully props his hands under the newest member of the Lake People (lol) and sits besides Kailani on her bed, "You're a mama to a dragon, Kailani!! Congratulations!!" As the dragon struggles to climb through Orion's thick beard, he gives it just a little help until it navigates through and climbs on top of his head. Orion's eyes follow the dragon up then look to the new mama with a bright smile, "Have you thought of any names?!" On the outside he was super excited and happy for Kailani but on the inside he was going through his stock of items created from dragon parts. His helmet will have to be disposed of immediately.

Cozy, but small, there was hardly any room in there for all three of them. If Orion was joining Kailani on the bed, he would be sitting quite close to the druid...Kailani definitely did not construct the place with the idea that she would be having company over. Like ever. Overall it's a fairly simple space, she sleeps there, there are probably some herbs drying out, etc. "I have not," Kailani confirms after removing the dragon from Orion's head. Hi, yes, she would like to say hello now too. "I wasn't really sure it would hatch, I don't think the merchant who sold me the egg really knew what he was doing in terms of care...I will think of a name soon." The druid shrugs as the dragon begins to climb it's way up Kailani's arm and toward her shoulder. The druid grins and then turns her gaze toward Orion, "We need to teach Grim not to eat him though. Please." The thought that Orion might have some gear that is made from dragon bits has not crossed her mind, but Kai's not the one he has to worry about offending in that regard. Just the newest addition. Kailani might have sat there shoulder to shoulder with Orion, but one griffon needs to meet a dragon.

Orion was caught up in the moment. There was no resistance to Kailani plucking the newborn from his head. He smiled brightly as he watched the druid interact with the dragon. He could have been caught staring for a bit too long, to be honest. "Oh! Grim!" Orion leaned to the side to try and get a peak at the griffon outside, accidentally bumping into Kailani, "Oh..Sorry, Miss Kailani.." He's blushing again. He starts to somewhat panic, "Let me, uh, go round him up.." With that he gently pets the dragon's head before slipping out. After only a couple of seconds, Orion pokes his head back in, "Give me a solid minute and bring out the little one." And he's gone again. Outside Orion can be heard calling for Grimclaw, "Grim! You have a new sibling!..I think..Or however this'll work out..Either way! No eating it!" All of a sudden there are flapping noises and tumbling going on outside. Orion grunts loudly. Grim screeches a few times. By the time Kailani emerges from her home the two will be standing as if nothing happened, but just a bit more dirty than a minute ago. "Ready, Kailani?" Orion grins and elbows Grim gently.

Kailani was bumped into! And she didn't really even seem to mind. In fact, all of Orion's blushing and panicking seems to earn a grin from Kailani. The druid would have followed him right out of the tent were it not for the warning that she should give him a minute. And a minute he gets, although, Kailani is rather curious to know just what the heck is going on outside right now. Wings flapping? Tumbling noises? She didn't hear any manly screaming, so she can only assume Orion did not just get devoured. When she's summoned outside, she gives Orion a rather incredulous look..because what even just happened? Kailani does not know. Either way, she finally comes to say hello to Grimclaw while simultaneously letting him met the young dragon perched on the shoulder. Except, the dragon does not want to stay there for long. It's Grimclaw he wants to jump onto and crawl all over next. Kailani is speaking to Grimclaw while giving the griffon a good pat down. Orion might be inclined to chime in on this conversation though. "Ah, I suppose he could be considered a sibling but..Grim, I think that sort of depends on your father. You see, he once told me that he likes to move his camp every few days. You'll just have to convince him that he needs to stay if you really want a new sibling." Kailani smirks. "What will happen if he decides to pack up and move away? That would be a sad day indeed."

Grimclaw nipped at the air just next to Orion's ear but as Kailani approached him he became focused on the newborn dragon on her shoulder as she pet him. The griffon's eyes pinpointed and his feathers ruffled a bit. "Easy, Grim.." Orion said calmly. As the dragon jumped onto Grim's head and down his neck to crawl all over his back, the griffon basically freezes. Orion started patting the griffon as well to reassure him. Once again, Kailani's words made the big tough guy start blushing yet again. Orion looked to the druid with bright red cheeks, "I.." Orion starts nervously scratching at his beard, "If you wouldn't mind us staying then..Yes. We don't have to pack up and relocated." By the end of his sentence, Grim had started slowly walking circles around the two as they chatted, baby dragon crawling on his back and all.

Kailani also attempted to reassure Grimclaw, but she let Orion do most of the leg work in that regard as the two have known each other far longer. It would be far more effective coming from the bardbarian anyway..and besides, Kailani was too busy turning Orion into a blushing mess, apparently. When Grim begins to circle the two, Kailani lifts a brow as she tries to interpret just what Grim was doing. As long as the druid does not get the sense that Grim was overly agitated with the dragon crawling all over him right now. The baby dragon is quite a fan of Grim and very curious, as young creatures often are. Kailani turns her watchful eye away from the griffon and back to Orion, flashing him a wide and warm smile, "Good. It's settled then. We agree that you're staying."

Orion smiles and nods at Kailani's words, "Yes. No more moving." As Grim circles and ends up just behind Orion, the bardbarian scoops up the dragon to hand back to its mama. Before Orion can carefully hand the dragon off however, Grim gives Orion a slight bump from behind to push him a step closer to Kailani. Did I mention Orion was blushing? You could light a night sky with his cheeks now, "Oof!" Orion carefully hands the newborn over, "Grim can be a little clumsy sometimes..I'm sorry." Orion didn't stare daggers into the griffon just yet even though the griffon continued prancing about them happily. Grim knew what he was doing. Orion clears his throat, "Just, um, give me a list of foods and meats I can get the newcomer and I'll see what I can do."

Kailani eventually starts to figure that Grimclaw is definitely not agitated or annoyed, that realization comes right about the time that Orion removes the unnamed dragon from Grim...only to be bumped closer to Kailani. How red can Orion get? It seems like they might just find out today. He's not the only person in that boat though, Kailani's cheeks turn a light shade of red when the shirtless bardbarian is pushed closer to her. She doesn't glare daggers at Grimclaw though, her eyes are on Orion. The druid does not answer his question, it seems like she might? Maybe? Because she's beckoning the man to come down to her height? Like the dragon's diet is some HUGE secret and not even Grimclaw can know? Orion's just far too tall for the druid to be sharing these secrets. Halp.

Orion tilts his head at Kai's overall look and arches an eyebrow at her. "Hmm?" He obliges her signals and bends down just a tad. "Write a list, you dumbskull. It's a dragon. Dragons eat meat," thoughts like that are racing through his head as he waits for further direction from the druid. Grim is still doing laps around the two and even bumps Orion on more time. What a brat!

Yes, dragons eat meat. Good job, Orion. Kai does not point out the obvious though, she's pretty confident that he can figure the obvious out on his own..slash, already is. The truth is, there is no secret. She's just feeling a little brazen at the moment, bold enough that once he's down at her level she plants a short, sweet, and somewhat nervous kiss to his lips and then proclaims, probably with a bit of blushing, "It's still early. I woke you up. Go back to bed, we'll worry about the food for today." We does not include the pint-sized dragon. No, she's just trying to run off with Grimclaw again. They'll be back though, just like the last time.

Orion was not expecting that at all. Not even a little bit! It was a pleasant surprise though! He returned her kiss just as nervously in fact. His cheeks are probably permanently red now as well. Maybe he could start a fire by holding a stick to his cheeks at this point. After the quick peck, he stands up straight with a bright smile, "I don't know if I'll be able to get back to sleep after that, but I can be sure to have some breakfast ready when you get back." As for Grim, he's always ready for an adventure especially if it comes down to hunting!

Kailani grins at the blushing bardbarian and his commentary. If Orion does not manage to go back to sleep, breakfast will definitely be welcomed when Kailani returns. For the time being, these two dreadfully shy Lake People are parting ways. Grimclaw should be very proud of his two half-elves. They've made big decisions today. Gold star for both of them.
