Gambit:Cats Got Your Tongue

Elegant Bridge

A large, wild and gushing river separates the lands of Larket and Kelay-Sage but luckily a long and elegant bridge formed of sweeping arches crafted carefully of brick and stone links the two lands together. On the north side are a pair of Larket Knights in armor and on the southern a pair of Elven Rangers, neither side appear to be bothered by the other but it would appear recent events have led to the stone bridge now being guarded round the clock. The southern side of the bridge is bright with verdant growth; the beginnings of Sage Forest. On the northern side, however, is a bustling city of stone.

Round One

Joan's Roll: 10
Lefty's Roll: 2

Joan had heard about the war, well how couldn;t she when she worked right in the Chaple of Rest/Unrest in Cenril. And there was some whispers about it in her hometome of Vailkrin, the vampiric healer figured she could be helpful to both sides by offering to collect the dead. And that was what she was doing here today, a large wooden cart was pulled behind her as she made her way up towards Larket, she would stop her cart as she came into sight and hearing distant from the elegant bride. Having caught sight of the pair of vigilant knights, elite heavy armed group of soldiers and the other Larket reinforcements, she'd raise a hand to offer a wave as she called out that she was with the healers guild and here to collect the wounded and dead. She was slightly remembered when she pulled duty up at the House of Ara so she was allowed to look over those that had substainted wounds before getting to look at the small group of dead they had. Joan didn't have much on her as way of weapoins beyond her satchel and what hung off her belt.

Lefty had been watching the Larket borders for activity, searching for a way to upset the balance of power in Larket, and by extension Vailkrin. His chosen host this day is the most durable and the least noticeable. In full camouflage, the storm kitten watches the river and gets to the dead before Joan, fervently marking each corpse with a small purple rune that fades from notice almost immediately. Lefty directs the kitten ahead, keeping a good forty feet ahead of Joan. Yes, keep collecting the tainted dead. The kitten tries to suppress a purr, and goes to hide and watch again.

Round Two

Joan's Roll: 8 (Total: 18)
Lefty's Roll: 11 (Total: 31)

Joan had taken care of the wounded as best as the knights would allow her, the men had been shifting about as they talked about what had recently happen. As Joan then would move to reach down and collect the few dead one at a time and haul back to her cart Joan would let them know she was taking the dead back to the healers guild to better be dealt with, anyone looking for their fallen loved one could come there to claim their beloved if they wished. She didn't really notice the kitten as she focus was mostly on making sure she collected any fallen body pieces, tho this small lot seemed lucky to keep most of their body pieces, with a heavy sigh the vampiric healer would make short work of loading her cart, tho she did take time to offer a polite mummer of pray for each fallen.

Lefty slips out of hiding again, and allows himself to be seen. In the guise of bringing comfort, the kitten brushes up against the injured soldiers with great purrs. The kitten bounces along butting against as many soldiers as possible, begging for head skritches. Each time, whether it be a head scratch or the kitten idly brushing against an armored leg a purple rune flickers. Lefty had been studying, and was preparing to release his carefully prepared trap at the opportune moment. Many soldiers pet the kitten. Many are getting infected.

Round Three

Joan's Roll: 8 (Total: 26)
Lefty's Roll: 12 (Total: 43)

Joan had collected what was left of the small bits of hacked off body parts, taking a few moment the undead woman would grad a sack she had at the end of the cart and place the pieces in them, once back at the guild hall and the bodies had been undressed, studied and washed clean she would match what was missing from what she had collected. Taking a moment she would wipe the back of one gloved hand across her brow, letting out a heavy exhale of breath she'd finally take notice of that little cute kitten, since this was her first time at a battle ground the undead woman would offer a frown as she watched the kitten go from gaurd to guard to knight and knight and the other forces. "Yeah...you all might wanna take more care of touching strange super friendly animals." Is all she offer for what she had seen, she didn't have any real battle experience but she had common sense.

Lefty hisses at the rude lady, causing several soldiers to laugh, before scarpering off again, deeper into enemy territory. The kitten resumes the camouflage, and circles back to surreptitiously climb into the cart and mark the various parts Joan had collected, just to be thorough. Since the limbs are not full bodies, it takes more than one rune to complete and the kitten must be very careful not to make noise. One rune to draw the body pieces together into a functional construct, one trap rune. Slowly, carefully, precisely. Little claws are wonderful for delicate work.

Round Four - Winner: Lefty

Joan's Roll: 1 (Total: 27)
Lefty's Roll: 20 (Total: 63)

Joan wrinkled up her nose as the kitten hissed, not much to bother with but Joan just didn't like that the soilders where not listening, her hand would go down to her low slung satchel and from it she would pull out a decent sized corked bottle of antiseptic. Giving it a light toss it be thrown at the seemed to be the main knight in charge, "Look, I know you all are not much on washing your hands after touch animals and all but please do wash your hands with 'hot soapy water', clean out your fingernails with a toothpick or belt knife and use that bottle there of antiseptic once you are done, it will cut down on the spread of germs." The knight would offer the vampiric healer a small salute as the group as a whole laughed at Joan. Just offering a rolling shrug of her shoulders the undead woman moved over to her cart of loaded dead, once more her nose wrinkled but this time as she caught the scent of feline, swinging her head about she'd look for that kitten once more, she'd be very upset if that feline had scent marked the corpses, that meant she would need to order the strongest cleaners they had to be used on the bodies as felines did leave a rather...intreseting scent behind when they scent marked, huffing Joan would now once more reach into her satchel this time pulling out a overlarge canvas tarp from the magical storgae satchel. She'd unfold it and flip it over her cart, going about to tie down the ends to the cart, getting ready to depart back to the healers guild hall.

Lefty carefully sets the corpses’ clothes back to where they were, hides the evidence of his tampering, and drops lightly out the back of the cart. The kitten slinks back home, completely happy at completing his task without once getting caught. Lefty wonders to himself why he keeps the other living thralls when the kitten is so much more reliable. The kitten hears this thought and purrs in contentment, far, far away from prying eyes and vampire ears.
