RP:Seeing Izianova

Part of the A Different Halloween Arc

Cliffs, in the Xalious Mountains

This gives true perspective to the altitude you are currently at. As you peer over the cliff just a bit, you see no bottom, but rather a great mist swirling perhaps hundreds of feet below. You are not sure how much further below the mists the bottom of the gorge truly is, but you feel no need to test it out. Strangely there is a lack of snow here, probably from the warmth that rises from the cavern below, and to your west you see that the snow is also exempt from there as well. To the east is more solid ground, and the faint glimmer of frost or light snow. To your west you spot a rope bridge, but from here you're not sure how sturdy it is or if it will be able to hold you. It sways from left to right in the wind, the ropes and wood making unnerving sounds, creaking in the steady wind.

Cyllth : There is a brief flicker of green light among the rocks on the hillside.

Cyllth looks at Izianova

Izianova : The flicker of light was noticed, and gazed at curiously by a sitting Izianova. She had been in trance, but with eyes open, as she had something of a habit of doing... she wore her usual long, thin black loincloth and black chest bandages. She peered more intently at the source of odd light over at the group of rocks, and waited to see if anything would show a second time.

Cyllth : The remote viewer lurks among the boulders, a small, practically invisible translucent piece of square film, like a piece of a soap bubble, no more than an inch across. It focuses on the being sitting on the ground, occasionally twirling or bending slightly as it examines her with different aspects.

Izianova knew she was being watched, and with her dragonic vision, could even see the miniscule article used to view her... whosoever scryed her with the device probably knew she saw him/her/it as well, as she peered directly at it. She was curious who could have reason to eavesdrop upon her... when her matron house had been destroyed, she had left the drow thinking she was dead, there should be none pursuing her. Also, she did not know this magic... and she had a rather healthy repertoire of magics related to espionage, even if her elder magicks had extremely limited uses in actual combat. She nudged the 9 foot tall minotaur, Yor, who sat serenely beside her, the peasant monk deep in a state of self contemplation. "Yor, we are being observed." The minotaur opened his eye, and peered where she indicated. It took him a while to spot it but at last he did. "Someone watches us, you believe?" His voice was a deep, resonating bass, that almost shook the ground. "Izianova, do you know this one's intentions?" "I do not, mighty Yor. I haven't the foggiest notion, in fact." Izianova rose languidly to her feet, approaching the oddity.

Cyllth continued to observe her as she walked toward his remote, even taking the opportunity when she got close enough to scan her equipment for magical auras or enchantments. When she got within a dozen lengths, she heard the whisper of a voice echo within her skull, as if carried on a sourceless breeze. "hold there, wyrm. what is your purpose here, in this place?" Yor is spared not so much as a glance or thought.

Izianova allowed the mental intrusion, already on her guard for powerful magic. Although she was experienced in the elder arts, her true talents lay in her sage training... and her mind could easily block most intrusion, through an obscenely powerful will due to her great wisdom and experience. However, the creature knew she was a wyrm, even using the proper title... if it knew aught of her race and past, the liklihood that it was a dragon was great... and that liklihood that it was ancient near guaranteed. Dangerous. "My purpose? For now I do but meditate, spending my time contemplating the unfathomable nature of the universe and my self, my place in it, with my companion Yor. We value learning greatly, and you have piqued my curiousity." Her voice was wet silk, taking aprperly conciliatory and respectful tone, but with aa powerful undercurrent, not just of finesse, but one of confidance. It was a delicate balance, that few could pull off so thoroughly. Yor watched her speak, assuming at first that she talked to herself, but was wise enough to keep quiet and observe. Izianova greatly valued his company. "I have little purpose beyond to learn, and to teach, wherever I go. Such pursuits are consuming enough, in their own right. My name is Izianova, the 6th generation." Few would understand this reference, that she reffered to her ancestors asexual self reproduction trailing back to a historical point in dragonic history. "Might I have the privalege of knowing to whom I speak?"

Cyllth tell to izianova ooc: gimme a few to think. one of the difficulties of playing Cyllth is that he's smarter than I am.
Izianova tell to cyllth ooc lols, take your time. Would be fun if cyllth knew her ancestors... which would mean he knew her, because they are all carbon copies XD
Cyllth tell to izianova ooc: does she actually have memories from then, or just of her own lifetime?
Izianova tell to cyllth ooc only her own memories. Though they are the same, tehy all had different experiences. Some even assumed male forms rather than female, and those of different species... all the same dragon, though, basically.

Cyllth is motionless for a time, allowing the silence to stretch on as he continues to observe her and her companion's actions, or lack thereof, through the remote.

Izianova tell to cyllth ooc lol, c'mon! you can do better than that XD
Izianova say ooc ill spice it up a bit...

Izianova is patient, but does not wish to let the beings attention falter until she had at least some answers. She refrained from trying to scry him, and stood rather relaxedly where she was, Yor scratchign his back in irritation at the oddity of the encounter. The minotaur sage was a bit on edge.

Cyllth tell to izianova ooc: Oh, it's not because I can't think of anything to say or do. He wants to see how she reacts to silence.
Cyllth tell to izianova ooc: how people act is often more important than what they say. ;)

Cyllth resumes the verbal conversation, having spent the last few minutes observing the non-verbal cues of the two. "knowing your proper place in the universe is indeed a useful thing. many fail to stay in their place, however, and the universe is rarely gentle when it reminds them where that place really is."

Cyllth tell to izianova ooc: sorry my own posts are short as well. I don't have much in the way of physical RPing I can do when I'm using the remote.
Cyllth tell to izianova ooc: I had to spend a fair amount of effort editing Cyllth's text. And I'm at work, so I have to multi-task.

Izianova nods her head at Cyllth's words, having found her reason for being long ago. The fact that he avoided her questions entirely, however, did not escape her... coupled with the creatures apparant probable power, it was very likely that he done so a-purpose. Also, it was very likely there was an inherant threat in his words, that made her narrow her eyes. "I know my place well. The niche I fill in the grander tapestry of life is one of teacher and mentor, and I seek to find the potential in many different creatures, bringing them to states of being beyond mortality, that they may in turn shepherd their kinds. It is, in point of fact, a divine calling, though I worship no deity of these lands. I hold the task of teaching sacred to my heart." Her voice took up a greater resonance, gaining meaning in her powerful words. "And what of you, nameless watcher? Where is your place in our vast tapestry of life?"

Cyllth tell to izianova ooc: Heh. Wondered if you'd catch the threat there. Tried to do it unsubtly enough for us humans, but still subtle enough to be believably draconic.
Cyllth tell to izianova ooc: this is new ground for me, rp-wise. I'm used to more 'normal' characters.
Izianova tell to cyllth ooc well, if you want to play cyllth as a watcher instead of an antagonist, you need to be a lot more subtle in the threats, or cut them entirely... it is really quick for him to start with threatening, which leads one to believe either he feels threatened in this case, or he's of a very mercurial temper... we'll see though :P (Don't need to be subtle for me though, I'm intuitive as all hell... ill pick up things from your writing you didn't even notice :P )
Cyllth tell to izianova ooc: eh, he doesn't trust her. He's not afraid of her, but just wants to lay out a brief warning not to try anything.
Izianova tell to cyllth ooc she does have a strong habit of bending things to her will, for better or worse. She can even find ways to woo a dracoliche, hehe.

Cyllth : The remote ripples slightly, like the surface of a pond under a breeze, or a glass of water when a T-Rex steps near. "mentor. truly a noble calling, very self-sacrificing, training lesser beings in the arts of those who have come before. I hold no such aspirations, sadly. I am one who, as you put it, watches. after all, what is the point in weaving such a grand tapestry as the Universe, with none who can truly see it and admire it in all it's glory? for those few who are worthy, who can afford it, I can enlighten or clarify portions of the tapestry that before they could not see clearly. I am the Oracle."

Cyllth tell to izianova ooc: because he doesn't trust her, I'm trying to figure out how much he'll say. You always gotta watch what you tell evil dragon-types. ;)
Izianova tell to cyllth ooc well, I've actually been rethinking how I do her alignment... evil doesn't relaly make sense according to her calling. She can be savage and ruthless, yes, but she is a dedicated mentor and trying to improve the universe for religious reasons... so, maybe evil in the way an anti hero may be, doing freat things by questionable methods... still working on that P;
Cyllth tell to izianova ooc: well, how he's been cautious with her is due to the evil part of her description. ambition when confronted with power can get ugly.
Izianova tell to cyllth ooc true. Very true.

Izianova learned much from the Oracle's words. The way he mentioned lesser beings could have been patronizing, but was more likely indicative of his own egotistic views, and reinforced her suspicion that he was dragonic. His shared appreciation for the tapestry of the Universe set him apart, he possibly liked to make of himself an audience for the world. His offerings of enlightenment and clarity mirrored her own, but she guessed that the incentives were probably greatly masterbatory in nature; he waited, he watched, and now the Oracle wanted to be involved, to an extent. Her seeing his little device could have very well been intentional, a taunt, a tease, but one with little true vested interest in it either way. She had little to hold over him if he did not take an interest in manifesting physically or letting her near where he truly was, but neither could he do her much harm, most likely. If he showed aggression, she could find him... but, knowing much more about him now, she decided the best thing to do was to wait patiently and gauge him. He could be restless... not likely, but it would be a nice tool to use to her advantage. She decided to try and make him tip his hand. “Oracle, such an offering is quite noble. I hardly believe, though, that you intend to extend such a gift in this impromptu circumstance. Which begs the question… why did you allow me to see you?”

Cyllth chuckles faintly, only barely audible, even over the telepathic band they were sharing. "Seeing is often a two-edged sword. in order to See, one must sometimes be seen. and I wished to know your intentions. asking seems a prudent way to go about it, doesn't it?. The remote twirls like a dial, muted rainbow reflections rising and then disappearing again. "perhaps one day we shall have another conversation, mentor. it could be enlightening."

Izianova the gambit paid off, and Izianova learned precisely what she’d needed… he had indeed intended to initiate the conversation. Simple observer no more, eh? He had a bit more of a jovial way of talking towards the end, perhaps better used to her, perhaps impressed, probably interested. “I do hope so, Oracle.” Izianova did a muted, slow Elder Dance, twisting her stomache side to side to invoke a minor arcane power. She had thought of using a scry to quickly peer through the ‘portal’, as it were, but decided against it; it could well provoke him, and she had a decent idea of what he probably was… which would make him an excellent candidate to specifically avoid provoking. Instead, the small ritual imparted a specific imprint upon her, attuning her to his powers, so that she would be marked to him, extremely easy to find. He would come to her, in time, she was sure, and she’d rather him be able to find her. The purple flames licking her form as she invoked the magic were exhilerating, as usual. “I’ll look forward to our next meeting, Oracle.” She had no need to explain the magic, it would be glaringly obvious it’s effect and intent. “May you know mastery of yourself, and the wonders of Enlightenment.” A traditional Dark Sage parting, not one any on this world would be familiar with though. Yor had been in a tense trance the entire time, and now stood to plant his totem upon the ground and grow food, sensing that the odd situation was at an end.

Cyllth : The remote blinks, folding in upon itself and vanishing completely, as if it had never been there.

Izianova tell to cyllth ooc haha! Now cyllth can auto zone in on Izi easily. She made herself radiantly apparent to his scrying :P
