I have a couple of things to say about this.
First of all, the automatic assumption that if an admin denies something that they are doing it out of malice or because of a grudge is just plain wrong. It is not an uncommon thing for us to ask other admins for their opinion on a ruling if we think we are biased. These kind of complaints from the players are tiresome and, quite frankly, getting annoying.
Second, we also don't go around second-guessing each other's rulings just because of a player complaint. In general, if an admin issues a ruling on something, we respect them enough to not summarily overrule them. Any changes in judgment have to go through the original ruling admin unless they are no longer available. Therefore the fact that it was the same admin who denied your petition is exactly the way it is supposed to work.
Third, bans are typically permanent. There are sometimes exceptions, but they are exceptions, not the rule. Merely asking politely to be let back in is not a reason to lift a ban. The admin have to believe you will behave within the rules after being let back in.
My 3 cents, as an admin who has implemented his share of bans. Come to think of it, I might be second only to Vgfh in number of bans among the currently active admins. --Cyllarus 17:28, 24 April 2011 (UTC)
Well, I can't help but notice that my plea was deleted, and by none other than the admin responsible for my unhappy departure in the first place.
It's a shame, really. But I can see that even if I were allowed to return, my fate would be sealed anyways. It's hard to ignore the obvious grudge being held against me.
How long would it be before another accusation? Before another alleged offense, with invisible evidence weighed against me?
No, I suppose this is for the best... in the end.
I must say, though. I am disappointed.
I had expected better of Hollow.
No worries about the future, though. I shan't be back to post another of these messages. I'm not the type to grovel or beg... and I'm certainly not the type to harbor a juvenile grudge. I made an earnest, honest attempt to reconcile... and it was denied without so much as a response.
But know that I have kept copies of both of these messages, and screen-captures of their existence on this board, in whole.
Should this go beyond the petty incident which occurred here at Hollow, beyond the confines of this game, I am prepared to defend myself with far more weight than I had when I was cast out for an offense I did not commit.
I wish I could have come back. I really do miss this place.
But I see the sorts of people they trust to run it... and something tells me I'm better off gone... that I would hate to see what this place is going to become, if something doesn't give soon.
So, this is where I leave for good I guess.
To those of you I knew as Cerius, Laurelle, Audrielle, Lucielle, Khujein, Lucia, Shaw, Rhenji, Ruadh, Kaele, Rhennon, Jjerrelote, or any of my other characters during the eight years I have spent here... if you should read this before it is again deleted without so much as a reply... then know that it has been one of the most enjoyable experiences in my life. To be surrounded with such creativity and talent was an inspiration.
I give you my best wishes, and bid you a fond farewell. May you have many grand adventures, on this road of life.
