General Information

  • Class: Oneiromancer*
An oneiromancer is a mancer that in basic sense shares many abilities that mirror that of an illusionist. The difference between the two however, is an illusionist creates their power from magic sources, be they internal gifts or granted abilities by artifact, whereas an oneiromancer's illusion techniques are created solely from the fabrics of dreams. Oneiromancers and Material Walkers are often one in the same, for the key a Material Walker holds allows them to freely access the other realm giving them the ability to pull whatever dream (or nightmare) they wish from the parallel world. The 'waking dreams' or illusions created by an oneiromancer, much like those of an illusionist, hold no physical weight and therefore can inflict no physical damage, though it is whispered the most powerful oneiromancers have been able to grant dreams physical form for limited amounts of time.
  • Race: Material Walker**
A material walker is a being with the power to pass freely between the realms of Dream and Material. The world of Hollow has seen two Material Walkers in its time – Verse, and her father, Erusel, the Mad One. While often Material Walkers are part of the royal bloodline of the Throne of Dream, this is not always the case. Material Walkers that are not granted their power by the royal family however are hunted relentlessly and will be killed on the spot. Material Walkers often hold a key that allows their passage through rifts in the fabrics of the realms.

[This excerpt also contains information about Verse's origin]

Verse's existence is a strange one, her origin near as mad as the girl herself. Years ago, she was a normal child of a light skinned, humanoid race. One night, she was found and kidnapped by an insane man covered in scars and cuts. The man was a raving lunatic, he screamed of how he was going to create his family, a family so perfect, beautiful and true. As he shouted all of this, he dragged the little girl further into the forest. Upon reaching a hidden catacomb, the man chained the girl as he danced around and giggled with delight. The two of them waited together, beneath the ground, in the damped catacombs lingering with the scent of death. It seemed they had waited for days, the little girl dozed off a few times, only to reawaken to the man, sitting, rocking back and forth, pacing, ever awake.
Finally the pair was joined by a woman, a woman with black hair and beautiful, fair skin. The little girl could not believe that a women so beautiful and kind could be with this madman... The scene grew even worse however with the arrival of the woman – The man began to scream at the newcomer, demanding she make the girl their child. As he screamed, the little blonde girl stared, her eyes full of fright. The woman eventually agreed with the man and neared the little girl. Kneeling down, the child felt a sharp pain in her neck before she lost consciousness. That was the night she was turned...
When she regained consciousness very little of her memory was intact. She remembered clearly the night before, but could no longer recall where she was or what she was named. The mad man was still with her, he was making marking on the wall with a small stone chisel as the girl stared – From this time forward, the man was very kind to the child, and after he finished he writing, the two of them went outside, wandering in the forest that had been so dreadful just a few nights before. The girl was given the name of Verse that day, Verse Eyren Kiryth. The man said the child's middle name was the same as the name of her mother, the woman that had bitten her before she had lost consciousness. Her last name, the mad man said, was a last name long forgotten, a name that belonged to the father of his mother, the Grandfather.
Shortly after the girl had become acquainted with her make-shift family, the mad man who had become her father was slain in battle. The man was known as Erusel, one of the greater illusionists to grace the land of Hollow, the first oneiromancer seen in the Material. However, though the man had died, the child could still hear his voice echoing in her mind. His laughter would keep her up at night – If her heart could have raced, it would have been pounding in her chest when she awoke. The man also appeared in her dreams, whispering instructions in distorted voices, pointing to his veins, pointing to her frame. Soon, her father demanded the girl reanimate herself, once again join the living ones, no longer roaming the earth as a leech-like corpse. The man instructed her to dig up his body and extract a vial of his blood.
After collecting the blood of the Father, Verse then visited the Ascendi, Daedria. Presenting the demi with the vial and her wish for aid, the girl soon found herself breathing once again. The transition was a painful one, far worse than her previous turn, but at the end, the blood of Erusel flowed through Verse's veins. She was truly the mad man's daughter... And, as she would soon find out, now heiress to a hidden throne.
  • Appearance:
Unkempt. A nice way to describe the girl. Verse stands around five feet, nine inches tall, and her head is crowned by a mass of tangled, off-white colored hair. Why off-white? Dirty, most definitely; soot and sand is dreaded into the tangles. The hair that isn't rat-nested together has a slight curl to it and falls down with the clumps past the child's shoulders, framing her pallid face. The girl's skin is pale and fine, the skin of a child, forever frozen in such a way. Her pale features hold bright, sapphire eyes, large and wonderful on her face - The girl's madness is apparent if one gazes at her eyes long, they are bloodshot, red creeping from their corners. Her eyes are not the only thing unsettling about the curious girl's appearance - Her frame is lithe, as to look unnourished, her flesh clinging tight to her bones.
  • Dress:
Verse is often dressed in a classic, upper-class dress, the color of blue, complete with frills and all of the necessary decoration to make it truly a dress of high stature. That is, it would be a dress of beauty and worth, if it wasn't as dirtied and unkempt as the girl's hair and general appearance. There are small tears here and there in the child's clothing, as well as spots from liquids, dirts and who knows what else. The garment runs down to the girls ankles, meeting her shoes; gold buckled, black leather, sturdy and of the same fancy quality as the dress. Yes, the girl would be considered well dressed, if she wasn't so dirty and disheveled.

The Blade of the Grandfather

  • History [1]
  • Abilities
    • [+0] – Recognizes only her hands
This is self explanatory – As the blade of the Grandfather's handle is the Scepter of Dream, the Scepter will not recognize the hands of a person born in the Material. Only a dream can hold the Blade-of-the Grandfather and only one dream is allowed said honor – The Queen.
    • [+5] – Levitation
Due to the collection of never-enders from the Realm of Material, the Blade-of-the Grandfather, being connected with the Heart due to the Scepter, has gained the ability to levitate. Due to this ability, Verse is able to will the Blade to levitate, fly, and attack opponents.
    • [+10] – Ghost Swords Technique
With each collection of never-enders the Dream Realm gains more power, as does the artifacts created inside of it. Due to this power, the Blade-of-the Grandfather has the ability to replicate false images of itself. This is particularly potent when paired with the levitation ability, making the attack more difficult to dodge, being as there is seemingly multiple swords speeding toward the opponent. [Note: Only one of the swords is real]
    • [+15] – Shattered Sword Technique
This ability is the prize of the Dream Realm and took the artifact dabblers many seeming-years to complete. Due to the Blade-of-the Grandfather being created of the material of Dream, the artifact dabblers found a way to allow the weapon to shatter itself into thousands of tiny shards. With this ability, the Queen is able to create a desert-storm of these shards – This attack has been known to remove layers of thin clothing as well as layers of exposed skin.
    • [+20] – Shards as Swords Technique
A combination of the Ghost Swords Technique and the Shattered Sword Technique – Using the Shards as Sword Technique, the Blade-of-the Grandfather shatters itself into long, stake-like shards. Each one of these shards is then surrounded by the illusion of being a full replica of the Blade. This technique allows for multiple attacks and can easily confuse an opponent that has recently defended the less dangerous Ghost Swords Technique. When connected, the illusion fades, leaving the reality of broken and jagged shards embedded into the victim.
    • [+25] – Essence of the Nonexist
The final enchantment placed upon the Blade-of-the Grandfather by the material shapers of the Dream Realm. The spell responsible for this ability placed small fragments of the nonexist in the Blade-of-the Grandfather. Due to the presence of these materials, the Blade-of-the Grandfather's edge is far more likely to pierce armors, damage weapons, and wound opponents in the Material Realm – This is due to the sturdy composition of elements in the Material verses the chaotic, ethereal composition of elements in the Dream Realm and the reaction when the two come in contact.

Abilities/Artifacts

  • Dream-woven Illusions
  • Bracelet-of Dreamers'-Teeth

Companions

  • Dream Behemoth [Eleven]
A dream behemoth is a creature that dwells within the world of dream. Wurm-like in appearance and of lengths sometimes reaching over 50 meters, the behemoths are known for their brutality and killing efficiency. Lacking the wings of their dragon and drake brethren, the wurms move swiftly along the ground, treading dirt and any material they slide upon. The mouth of the dream behemoth is the most fearsome part of the animal - Multiple claw-like arms reach out from the gapping maw, grabbing for anything to pull into its gnashing abyss.
    • Eleven, Verse's current behemoth, is about thirty meters in length and is very mindful and protective of the Queen. At times, if the battle seems hopeless for his companion, the creature will swallow up the girl, protecting her by encasing her inside of himself. When asked why her creature's name is Eleven, the girl explained that the first ten behemoths she tried to transition into the Material died during the process.
