Orphyn is a small time assassin with severe psychological problems. For the most part, she tries her best to be kind and caring, but two more dominant personalities seem to have goals of their own.

By day, she runs errands and works happily at the Hanging Corpse in Vailkrin, doing odd jobs for Steadmen and his clientele. At night, she dons a twisted smiley faced mask and stalks unruly and abusive citizens, usually ending their lives in some sort of gruesome manner. She thinks herself a hero in some regard, despite her being a dastardly vigilante that doesn't understand right from wrong. She is often conflicted with her actions, many times arguing externally with what some may think is her subconscious - Even though there is something more sinister at play. A possessive identity known as SiN.

SiN, while not a major player in the criminal underground, is trying to make a name for herself and start her own empire. She has a few loyal followers that look up to the assassin for guidance; Or rather, it is because they fear her and what she may do if the let her down. She treats those closest to her like gold, gifting them with booze and drug, and pays them handsomely for their services. Those who are not in her greater favor however must always be on guard, because one slight slip up can mean dire punishment, or even death.


Lately, the more dominant personality of SiN has been making the rounds, finally coming to surface once again as she begins to test a new substance upon the unknowing citizens of Lithrydel.

- "Orphyn": The "normal" one. This would be the main and most dominant personality throughout the day. Sweet and bubbly; Always so happy and pleasant to talk to, this personification often wears bright colorful clothing which accents her equally colorful tattoos. Tending to shy away from confrontation if she can help it, Orphyn still hosts a bit of that morbidity that seems prevalent in all three incarnations of her persona. In this state Orphyn is most likely going about daily errands or performing duties that require her to be a bit more sociable, like working as a barmaid in The Hanging Corpse in Vailkrin.

In an attempt to keep some semblance of normality, Orphyn may often rely on self medicating with some sort of drug to surpress the presence of SiN. While she acknowledges that the imaginary 'friend' is part of her life, Orphyn tries her best to ignore its presence and influence in front of others.



P S Y C H O P A T H


- "Smiley": Dubbed "Smiley" by Anson, this incarnation of Orphyn's personality is a childish oddball, most easily recognized by the Bloodstained Smiley-Faced Mask she wears. It is thought that this identity is the part of Orphyn that never grew up. The part that simply could not deal with the "trauma" of her childhood. Although, the true story of "Smiley" is that which was built in a dream, one might say. Much like an ill-mannered youth, this one knows no bounds. She has no use for right or wrong. She does what she wants just because... well.. because she can. One moment she could be calm and peaceful, the next a sobbing mess. It is usually best to keep one's distance when this persona is about, because there is no telling what she may do.

Smiley's form mostly comes out in the evening hours, when unaware citizens are at their most vulnerable. A natural predator, this form tends to dress in black leathers and keeps mostly to the shadows while she stalks her prey. Her motives are largely unknown, but most of her victims thus far seem to have been those of a crude or abusive manner. True to her psychotic persona, "Smiley" often makes a game of killing in itself, at times luring in innocent accomplices just to see what she can make them do. Gore of any sort does not make her squeamish, and most likely she keeps a 'souvenir' from each and every victim.

Not all is quite sinister with this personality, thankfully. At times when this "Smiley" is about, she is simply looking to 'play'. To find a friend with whom she can share a day of candy filled excitement; To do the things she never really had much of a chance to in her troubled youth. Her most recent hobby of favorite is dressing like a pirate, complete with wooden sword, and running around the docks in Cenril and Rynvale, pretending to be the captain of an adventurous sea-faring crew. YAR!

When it comes to "SiN" , "Smiley" speaks highly of the counterpart, proclaiming the imaginary entity her 'bestest pal in the whole wide world'.

C O R R U P T I O N


★ - "SiN": The explosive one. The unapologetic criminal. Unlike her other counterparts, this form of Orphyn is much more moody and less likely to offer any sort of insight into happiness. She is curt and gets straight to the point, not afraid to tell people exactly what she thinks. Her words are often gruff and her manner of speaking is quite broken compared to her easier going personas. SiN also appears to be the more cunning and logical personality of the three, seeming to take charge when important decisions need to be made. She is cutthroat and seedy, apparent to have a hand in a few underground black market ventures. These include racketeering, substance distribution and even the odd assissination contract. While only a small time thug, her aspirations are to one day take things to the next level and perhaps start some sort of organization or empire.

Much like the "Smiley" persona, SiN is quite a violent type. It does not take much to provoke the woman into confrontation ~ Even a sidelong glance is enough to set her off. She seems to revel in senseless violence, finding the odd fist fight character building. Those that keep her company tend to be afraid of the woman, for there is no telling when she might decide to vent out her frustrations on whomever happens to be closest at the time.


This particular embodiment tends to dress in all black, accented by trinkets of a morbid nature , and forsakes any sort of things she deems as 'girly' clothing. Her most often used piece of dress is a long, Stylish Black Leather Duster with the collar flipped up. Between often black painted lips you can usually find a cigarette or a cigar, and her abuse of select substances, whether booze or narcotic, is often done in plain view of the public. She holds no shame in anything she does.


SiN also appears to speak to an invisible entity, but she is much more crude and condescending when doing so. It is assumed that it may be one of the more submissive personalities trying to break through, which leads to the question: Is SiN even real? ...Or is she a byproduct of a fractured mind? Whatever SiN happens to be, it is clear that she is the driving force behind Orphyn's corruption.


In the months most recent, SiN seems to be making her presence know far more than she had previous. To make matters a bit more confusing, when in control of the assassin's flesh, she chooses to be called SiN outright; Abandoning the nickname that her more gentle counterpart has grown so used to.concern in his mind.

BASIC ABILITIES!


Orphyn has a pretty basic set of abilities to help her do a plethora of tasks relating to her choice of career. She is fairly adept at lock picking and espionage, as well as hunting and tracking.

She is also somewhat competent with close range combat, having spent much time in her free youth training with her companions. While quick and wiry, her technique could use a little work. Still, it is enough to get by.

Orphyn also has a fairly high pain tolerance, despite her small statue. For the most part, this is probably attributed to the drugs coursing through her system at any given time.




BLINK!


One of the first abilities the young assassin acquired as a child, Blink! allows Orphyn to 'teleport' a short distance for a limited amount of time- first discovered during her stay at the Cenril Clinic for the Mentally Deranged.

It is characterized by Orphyn moving distances of up to five meters in the 'blink!' of an eye, and in her wake, a short-lived black mist that courses with a mild hue of viridian energy. At this time, Orphyn can manage about three or four of these maneuvers in the span of thirty minutes before she needs to rest and recharge.

With time and training, she may be able to break this barrier.




CORRUPTION


This ability is more of a passive ability in its current state. It seems that the longer someone spends time around Orphyn, the more they seem to become influenced to commit lurid and unseemly acts. Corrupted in a sense. It is hard to say exactly what is the root cause; But Orphyn herself suspects that it is the power of SiN, whom resides deep down in the recesses of her fractured mind. She has been experimenting with this ability quite frequently as of late, even going so far as to synthesize some sort of powder to facilitate the process.

With SiN now taking hold more often, it seems that this Corruption is growing in strength. To what end, only time will tell.





A R S E N A L


EERIE BLOODSTAINED SMILEY FACE


Her favorite mask to bear is a fairly crudely fashioned Smiley Face mask. It is dingy and yellow, with various orange and red spatter stains marring its surface. The stains are most likely (given that she's off her rocker) her past victim's blood. The eyes are large and hollow; Haunting black circles that mostly conceal her true greyish-blue gaze. You would have to get fairly close to notice. The smile is eerily maniacal, black, cracked and worn, extending from one ear to the other. There are little metal wires sewn into the outer reaches of the smile to prevent the mask from splitting apart. A leather harness is sewn into the back as a means to keep the thing fastened to the assassin at all times. Generally, should you happen upon the crazed assassin while she is wearing this, one may find the woman to be at her most oddest of behaviours.



CORRUPTION-INFUSED TWIN DAGGERS


Named after the Dark Avatars, these would be her most prized possessions in the entire world. Their hilts are crafted from a blackened steel, shape taken in the form of a spine; The grip wrapped in nothing more than shagreen made from shark's skin. The pommels are in the shape of a skull, each with a different colored gem clenched in their open jaw- Sapphire for the dagger named Solaris, and Ruby for the dagger named Kaizer.

Each dagger's blade is fashioned from some sort of strange metallic ore that looks more like stone than any sort of steel, and are about ten inches in length. The dull edge of the blade is slightly thicker than the sharper edge; the latter serrated and jagged to really make sure things she wants dead have a very low chance of surviving a quick surprise attack. Each dagger seems to have a very curious viridian aura that gently courses through the ore that they are made of, even going so far as to give off their own source of light in the darkest of instances. Whatever the cause, it most likely effects the young assassin in some manner, as when they are wielded she can become fairly lost into a fit of insatiable bloodlust.




STYLISH BLACK DRAGONSCALE DUSTER


A specially crafted duster made from black dragonscales and enchanted to protect against various types of magic. It is not impervious, but is a decent enough article of clothing for what she needs it for. Usually, when this is worn, it is because SiN is in control. Look out for the telltale flipped collar.




CORRUPTION POWDER


A fine synthesized powder using shavings of what is left from the meteorite that was found in childhood. This powder is in its testing stages as of currently.

it is a strong concoction that has had varying effects, most notably that of turning those infected with it quite violent. Those that manage to take the powder into their body become murderous, often turning on their friends. On a best case field test, once a victim killed their companions, they then took their own lives in suit. SiN is trying to refine this further, testing how far she can take these effects on a larger scale.




ADDITIONAL TOOLS


Orphyn, usually in her Smiley persona, carries around quite the tool kit depending on the situation. This can range from lock picks, to rope, traps, full disguises, masks, potions, and even various weapons. She is in training now on how to appropriately and adeptly use a crossbow for long range attacks - Perhaps a means to disperse the Corruption powder from afar?

HISTORY

Best. Childhood. Ever.

Macie did not have any parents to call her own. None that she can remember, at least. She was told by the Orphanage that her parents were involved in an accident. Sure, an 'accident'. Given the way they told her, the way that they skirted around the issues, she figured that they were murdered by soldiers of the former Dark Lords.


Speculation, of course.


With no sort of immediate family to care for her, the misguided youth found herself sheltered by the local Orphanage in Cenril. They were a mean lot. The Headmistress' and subordinates treated the children poorly. Like commodities to be bartered and sold. There were great abuses of power in this establishment; Even amongst the children themselves.

Macie ran away multiple times. Far too many to count. She just simply could not take another second in that dreadful place. Each time she ran away she would find herself alone, living in alleyways and under carts in the evening. Eventually she would meet a band of misfits that would teach her how to survive those cold lonely streets. Most were children just like her, without anyone to care for them, seemingly lead by three older boys in their teens. In a way, they were a family of some sort.

By nine, she became quite the little thief. It started first with food. Simple things to keep her and her fellows from starving. Then as time grew on, she began to develop swift little fingers that would delve into pockets or bags for shiny things to spend on various wares like toys! None would dare prosecute a sweet little child, would they? Every now and again the young lady would find herself caught by someone that just simply wouldn't buy her sob story, the guards making an arrest and once again taking her back to that orphanage she so hated with blistering fervor.

This cycle would continue for some time.



I Had a Funny Uncle

Around the age of ten, things were looking hopeful. It was just after yet another return to the orphanage an elderly man came to visit. He held great knowledge of who Macie happened to be and claimed to be the closest thing to family she would have. Uncle Jack he called himself. He was a peculiar man who walked with a limp. Very haphazardly looking. Unkempt and dirty, obviously low income. Still, family was family. Anything was better than that stuffy old orphanage, right?

Things went rather well in the beginning. Macie was the happiest she had been in a long time. She finally had someone to care for her. A place to stay! A home. Uncle Jack went to work out west in the mines and she took to schooling during the day. On the days that education wasn't active, she spent time cleaning the house. It was a happy arrangement.

Around the age of twelve did things begin to go awry for the young woman's home life. It began with Uncle Jack losing his job. The mines weren't producing enough income and the overseer just didn't need as many workers. Falling into depression, Uncle Jack found himself spending most of his time at the local pubs. And boy, did it ever turn him mean. There were no more hugs or cheerful greetings. No more 'How was your day?'. The family feel had completely dissipated.

Soon he would begin to treat her differently. She was no more than a common bum. A pest. A regretful decision. His words, exactly. The insults grew far worse, and soon, he became physical. There was one particular night he came home and she was sitting at the table with her books, completing the daily assignments given by her instructors. Uncle Jack stormed in, the foul odour of whiskey leading the charge. "HOW COME I DON'T SMELL DINNER?!" he bellowed out. Right, it was her job to make sure dinner was cooked. Not like she had anything else in her life that was important. Instead of keeping quiet, Macie made the mistake of speaking up. "I haven't made anything. I have homework." Well that was that. The drunken maniac hobbled over and with one hand he grasped the back of her head, slamming her face down into the table.

There was blood everywhere.



Did it Hurt... When You Fell From Heaven?

That violent incident would not be the last. In no time did the girl learn her place in the household. A subordinate whose duty was to clean and cook to earn her keep. She was forced to drop out of her schooling due to the severity of the bruises and injuries sustained through Uncle Jack's temper tantrums. On one occassion you could not even recognize the poor girl! Macie thought many times to run away, but she feared that should she make an attempt, he would kill her.

It was in the wake of the Dark Avatars arrival that she would get her chance at freedom. Outside of that rambshackled old hut near the norther keylay forest, Macie was busy cutting wood in preparation for the coming winter. It was a dark shadow passing that would cause her gaze to soar up to the sky; Something large and fiery was falling. Just past the treeline it screeched, where the Milous Plain once lay, it landed with a thunderous boom and made the earth tremble violently. Her axe fell to the ground and her shoeless feet made haste to that which fell from the Heaven.

The object was laying in a small crater- a crater far smaller than one would think for the sound of the explosion that echoed in its wake. The object was of a conical shape, jagged, and appeared to be some sort of a metallic ore. It was abysmally black and about the size of a large bread basket. Around its entirety a strange, glowing, effervescent haze of viridian was emitted like a beacon in the night; A rhythmic pulse like that of a gentle heartbeat. Unsure of what to make of the thing, Macie tapped the surface, quickly to find that the object was quite cold to the touch even though it seemed to smoulder and hiss. There was something about this stone that seemed enticing, the haze it held was quite mezmerizing. Maybe it was of value! Her little fingers were greedily grasping around the ore and she hurried to get it home.

What transpired afterward would be a life changing experience.




I Would Have Gotten Away With It Too... If It Hadn't Been For You Meddling Guards!

She knew it wouldn't be long before a crowd were gathered at the impact site. Somebody would be investigating what happened. Then someone would come to her house and take the stone away! No. No way, no how. It was hers to keep. She had to hide it!

"Where is my dinner?!" Uncle Jack bellowed as the door clicked shut against the rickety frame. He was sitting, facing toward the fireplace, reading the book nestled in his lap. "Well? Get on it! I ain't got all night! Yer as useless as that whore mother of yours!" Something inside the girl snapped. Without taking a moment to think about what she were about to do, Macie slowly crept behind the crotchety old man and glared, the stone pulsating more vibrantly the closer she stepped. He did not have time to look up.

With a tremendous force the stone was brought down upon her abuser with an unrivaled hatred. The sound was sickening; Something akin to a walnut being cracked. The top of his skull collapsed, the insides seeping through the newly created fracture. You would think once was enough... But then she thought about all those times that he didn't undertsand when enough was enough! Another strike and then another, blood spatters began to paint the surrounding area. Another sickening wet crack! Tears streamed dowen her cheeks, voice sobbing. Soon, sobbing would shift to a giggle, and then to full blown laughter the more she hit the now deceased offender. When she was thoroughly sure that his noggin was officialy nothing but mush, she became satisfied, dropping the stone to the floor. For some moments she stared upon the remaining mess with an eerie smile.

BANG. BANG. BANG. It was the door! Quick to act, Macie scooped down and picked up the stone, hurriedly rushing to her room to hide it. She couldn't let anyone find it! Her bed frame was pushed back to reveal a series of loosened floorboards. BANG. BANG. BANG. Hurry you fool! She quickly shoved the damned thing into the hole in the floor and covered it up. On her way back into the main room, she would note a small pulsating glow upon the dust covered carpet next to her Uncle. It seems a piece had broken off when it was dropped. BANG. BANG. BANG. Quickly the young woman picked up the loose piece of stone and concealed it in her fist. "May I help you?" she asked as she finally opened the door with a sweet smile.

Cenrilian Guards. Two of them. One had his mouth agape, ready to question the young girl when he noticed the spatters of blood strewn all over her blouse. Concerned glances were exchanged between the two guards and they pushed past Macie to inspect where the source might have been. It didn't take them long. "It's so beautiful, isn't it?" she asked with a wild, maniacal grin. One of the guards motioned for the other to make an arrest, the other moving in without hesitation. It was when they noticed the girl's hand clenched shut that they demanded she open it; To relinquish what she were concealing. As they fought with her, Macie quickly brought hand to mouth, consuming the marble sized piece of ore and swallowed it whole. They would not have her prized possession! Angered, the most senior guard backhanded the girl to punish her for the act of defiance.

She was swiftly knocked unconcious.




PSYCHOSIS

While the crime was quite atrocious, those that judged the poor girl had some sort of Mercy. Death nor Jail were fitting punishments it seemed. She was just so young. Instead? They stuck the poor girl in a new home. This home was much like that of her early youth. A home for many just like her! No mommies or daddies. Uncaring caretakers. Even mean old roommates! Only these fellow guests were not children. They were a blight on society. The deranged and mentally ill.


When she first arrived she seemed calm and mild mannered. As if nothing had ever transpired. She greeted everyone sweetly and did as she was told without hesitation. She seemed too normal to be in such a place. Those that looked after the poor girl could not assess that there was anything wrong with the child in any capacity. All in all, the murder may have just been a simple act of revenge. Maybe it was even justified?


And then SiN Appeared.


It started one afternoon in the dining quarters. Macie was eating her soup peacefully, a bright little smile signalling that all was right with the world. She was seated next to a large burly patient named Edward. A man whom she did not like. He kept her up at night, screaming for no good reason! A terrible annoyance, really. "Oh hello!" Macie greeted, looking toward the empty seat to her right. Edward looked up from his meal to see who the little girl was talking to. "I"m Macie! Nice to meet you, SiN! Are you new here?" Edward began to get nervous. Nobody liked it when Edward became nervous. "Oh? I must get back! I miss it so!" the girl proclaimed. Suddenly the large man to her left began to howl and scream; The interaction between Macie and the empty seat had set him off. "Oh. I... ONE MOMENT!" she called out over the dreadful wail. Once more taken to thoughtless violence, the girl grabbed her spoon and forcefully jammed it into the screaming man's throat, successfully nullifying that horrendous, boisterous noise. "That's better." she then said to the empty chair and continued on with her conversation. By the time the healers had arrived, Edward had passed. She was promptly put into isolation.


For the next three years her condition only seemed to worsen. She and SiN became the best of pals, even though time and time again she was told the figure was quite imaginary. The girl began to develop other issues as well. She was hearing and seeing creatures that simply were not there. Her nights were filled with bursts of laughter or screaming for no sound rhyme or reason. Her emotions seemed to become a mask, her mind delving into psychopathy with traces of narcissism. Worst of all she became more prone to violence and random outbursts; Those of which killed two more patients and one therapist. Many more suffered both minor and quite serious injuries, resulting in the young girl to be placed on a constant watch as a high risk offender.


It was on the eve of her fifteenth birthday that her stay in the 'home' would become short. She had been just placed into the small isolation room after biting a patient's face; Something brought on because "He started it." Or so the claim went. A plethora of colorful words were let loose at the guards as they strolled away to deal with the leftover mess. It was only a short time, minutes even, before Macie's personal caretaker came to check on her. When the door to the isolation room was opened, the elder woman gasped and dropped her things, calling out wildly for the guards.


The only thing that would be found was a smoldering outline of the girl's form against the wall.


To this day no one knows exactly what happened to that poor girl. ...Until now.
