Prejudices

Lycans: Lycans are big, and powerful, causing her to be more than a little nervous about them. The increased speed and agility that comes from their condition takes away some of her edge in a fight.

Vampires: Just the thought of drinking blood makes this feline queasy, and vampires are hard to kill, which makes her work as an assassin and bounty hunter harder. Not to mention they are responsible for the torture and death of her former lover, Strend Sr.

Felines: Larger felines make this Caracal nervous. They are more powerful than her, but her speed and agility gives her an edge.

Dragons: These massive beasts could easily crush the feline, not a concept she likes. Plus they are bloody hard to kill!

Fears

Drowning: Like many cats, this Feline has trouble with swimming. She can do it, but it's not a pretty sight, and she prefers to avoid it.

Death: Not believing in any gods at the moment, she fears death, for she knows not what will become of her afterwards.

Dragons: See her reasons for prejudice against this race, and you will find out why she fears them.

Blindness: This caracal fears being unable to see, being used to excellent vision.

Fighting

Magical: She has no magical abilities

Physical: Speed, agility and the ability to make great leaps both in hieght and distance are on her side. Aside from that, she is weak in close combat fighting.

Weapons: A rusty dagger. She is adept at throwing her dagger from a hiding spot, and incredibly accurate with this skill. An oak bow and arrows. A set of gleaming shuriken. A rapier used in close combat fighting. A cross-bow. Her Pick-axe which can be used in a pinch. Strend Sr.'s old bow, though she doesn't know how to work the magical components of this, and tends to leave it at home at all times.

Past

The Beginning

In the distant land of Chatha, felines are the ruling race. But whether or not her race rules has little to do with Nowfaleena's story. This caracal was born to a poor family. A family of theives who made their dishonest efforts in order to feed their four children. But still Faleena did not feel they cared for her. She was the oldest of the four, and was oft overlooked in their attempts to make certain they paid attention to all their children.

And so when she turned fifteen, Nowfaleena ran away from home. She soon found an even less reputable man than her own family; a serval named Zebedeo who was both an assassin and a bounty hunter. During her time with hhim, he taught her his trades, and, despite the fact that he was much older than her, she began to fall in love with him.

Their love was not to be fulfilled, however, as he was slain while trying to collect a bounty. Bereved, the caracal set out to the nearest port city. From there she set off on the first ship she could catch. One which took her to Rynvale and eventually Cenril. From there she made her way to Kelay, and after some exploration, she decided to make Hollow her new home.

Strend

Her first day in Hollow, Nowfaleena spent a good amount of time in the tavern, just observing the people of this strange land. While there, she encountered an elf who went by the name of Strend. He began tossing notes at her, trying to get her to engage in conversation, annoyed, the feline left the tavern. The next day she had returned to the tavern, only to find Strend there once more. He approached the caracal himself this time, apologizing for pelting her with parchment the day before. She had been advised to trust by a former assassin who had seen her refusal to interact the previous day, and so she entertained the notion of a conversation with the elven ranger. Rather than trust him entirely, however, she gave an alias of Cataract.

To gain her trust, the ranger challenged her to a duel, which Nowfaleena accepted. The duel ended with Faleena pinned beneath a tree, and her life in the elf's hands. He spared her, and helped her free herself from the tree. While she still did not trust him completely, she did begin to tolerate his presence. Once more they dueled, the end result being that the caracal began to open up more to her self-proclaimed friend, even going so far as to reveal her true name.

A short while later, someone suggested that Strend and Nowfaleena had feelings for one another, which of course they both denied. The ranger was injured in a duel, and Faleena agreed to help take care of him, eventually going so far as to admit she might not mind spending time with him. Were there secret feelings growing between the two? Alex, Strend's pet tiger, thought so, and so pushed the two together, causing an accidental kiss. Still being in denial, however, they both pretended the kiss had never happened.

When Strend and Nowfaleena were approached by the Sphinx, Song, in the tavern, and the creature began flirting with the elf, the caracal had a fit of jealousy, which began leading her to discover her own feelings. It wasn't until they were fishing in Cenril together, however, that she had an epiphany, and realized that she truly did care for her friend. Apparently the ranger felt the same, for that same night he kissed her.

At first Faleena enjoyed the moment, but soon she remembered her vow to never love again, and had a momentary conflict within herself. After a short while, however, Strend was able to talk her out of her vow, and she even suprised him by initiating a kiss of her own, brief though it was.

Twins

Nowfaleena began to experience moodiness one day, along with nausea, which she attributed to eating something foul. Eventually, once she had gotten sick in the mines, she promised Strend that she would see Sophie if things continued. Feeling quite miserable, the caracal desided to do so, but was unable to find the lycaness. She did however find Awne, who had been a victim of her earlier foul mood, upon traveling to the tavern.

Willing to put the past behind them, Awne agreed to examine Faleena, who agreed to be examined by the lioness. The checkup yielded starteling results...The feline was pregnant! Afraid of scaring the Strend away, she decided to withhold the information from him.

As he insisted on knowing what was wrong, she insisted it was merely food poisoning. Then to test the waters, asked if he thought they were ready to be parents. He responded with a no, which only served to increase her unwillingness to tell him. It was at this point that Agoyoanye stumbled upon the pair, and when Strend voiced his concerns about Faleena's health, the vampiress asked her flat out if she was pregnant. Of course, with Strend there, the caracal couldn't tell the truth...and so she denied it.

A few days later, it was Awne who finally convinced her friend to tell the elf the truth. When she admitted to the pregnancy, he admitted that he wasn't ready to care for the child, but promised to stay by his mate's side.

After much arguing over names, the pair finally decided. If the child were a boy, they would name him Kyler, if a girl, they would name her Kyla. They soon had to come up with additional names, however, when Awne informed Faleena she was carrying twins. And so they agreed upon adding the names of Lyle and Lyla to their list.

Unfortunately, before the pregnancy could come to term, Strend was slain. (Read: The Death Of Strend) The time for the birth came without her mate, brought on by the stress of his funeral. She stumbled her way to Awne's, and the lioness helped to deliver the twins.

First came a little boy. He bore brown hair like his mother, and elven ears and hazel eyes like his father. He lacked fur on his body, but did have retractable claws and a tail covered in tan fuzz. In honor of his father, Faleena chose niether of the male names they had discussed, but named him Strend, an option which had been considered earlier, but turned down by the feline.

Next was born a little girl. Her hair was the blonde shade her father's had been, and her eyes the same green of her mother.. Her ears, however, were the tufted ears of a caracal, and her hands bore retractable claws. LIke her brother, she was furless, save the tan tail that grew from behind. Her name was Lyla, as they had discussed. The date of their birth was November sixteenth.

The Marriage That Was Not To Be

When Faleena found out she was expecting, it was only a matter of time before her mate proposed. Strend's proposal was as strange as he was. He slipped a ring onto the woman's finger without a word, and when she asked if it was what she thought it was, he asked if she wanted it to be what she thought it was. Of course the caracal's reply was yes. They discussed the date, and decided on sometime in the winter months. The marraige was not to be fullfilled, however, as Strend met his end before they could be wed. (See: The Death Of Strend)

Kadie

When attending a picnic held by Sophie for the orphans at the Shelter for Younglings, Nowfaleena met a girl she took to be an orphan. A feline named Kadie. Perhaps her maternal instinct was hightened by her pregnancy, but when Strend informed her tha the girl needed a place to stay, she willingly agreed to let the little cheshire lynx share their home. Eventually the caracal began to think of Kadie as a daughter, and when she found out that Kadie already had a mother who cared for her, she felt a mix of relief and grief.

One day Strend informed her that Kadie had been kidnapped. The only thing they knew of the man who took her was his face, and the alias he used, Sparrow. They had no idea where to find him, or what his actual identity was. Faleena's once-friend Yasmine knew where the girl was kept, but wouldn't tell them, causing the caracal to view the lycaness as an enemy. Once the cheshire had been recovered by the valiant efforts of Strend and an unknown avian, the feline and her mate decided to adopt the child, but that they would wait until their wedding to tell her.

Sadly that wedding would never come. Strend died, and this prompted Kadie to leave, even after Faleena revealed that they had been planning to adopt her. The caracal felt not only grief, but betrayal as well.

The Death Of Strend

It came to pass that somehow, Strend was sired by a vampire and was driven mad. His final sane act was to send a warning by way of Namern for Faleena to stay away. The man also suggested that the caracal begin a search for the cure. While she was out looking, Strend was slain by someone she later learned to be Lady Satoshi of Frostmaw. She found his corpse floating frozen in the Odd Watering Hole.

When his brother Rohen showed up, he adopted Faleena as a sister, and suggested they plan a tournament to honor Strend. Rohen was driven into hiding however, and the tournament was not held. Rather, some time after his death, Nowfaleena held a cremation and memorial on November fifteenth.

But alas, even that could not go undisturbed as Noemi showed up, and dropped a grenade onto the funeral pyre, destroying the service, scattering his remains, and leaving only his treasured tail, which Faleena hid carefully.

Balatro

It was not long after the twins had been born that the fiendish fox known as Balatro came into Faleena's life. He tormented her from the moment they met, and on a threat to her children, she allowed him to enslave her, or rather make her his pet. He equiped her with an anklet that caused her to crave and need his praise and affection.

Because she so craved his approval, she did things she wouldn't normally have done, even after he had freed her the effects of the anklet lingered, causing her to attack her dear friend Kattanos, and even plot to slay Awne's entire household. Thankfully the drug-like addiction to Balatro's praise wore off before this task could be accomplished. Now she lives with only the guilt of what she may have done, a feeling that is new to her. She also has a deep hatred of Balatro.

Departure and Return

It wasn't that she disliked Hollow...she loved it there, she had friends, family, a home. But Nowfaleena also had a habit of running from her problems. And her constant struggle to deal with Strends death...she had to go. So for a little over a year the caracal moved from land to land with her cubs. The two children grew quickly, as felines are want to do. But with the children of her late fiance near her she was ever faced with the memory of Strend. She could not just abandon them, though, and so she was driven to travel in an attemot to escape the pain she felt.

Eventually the caracal realized she would never be free of the memory of Strend, and decided to return to Hollow. She hoped her friends and family would forgive her for just leaving, but had doubts that they would.

Upon her return she was faced with the news that most of the felines in the land had vanished, and questioned the bearer of the news as to the where abouts of Awne and the other felines she had known. He had never heard of any of them...and she began to wonder if they were alright.

Rilid

Nowfaleena never intended to fall in love when she returned to Hollow. And she certainly never would have thought it would be a human that would win her affections. But after being introduced to RIlid by his summoned dragon, and sharing a couple of encounters, she found she could tolerate him. And when he met her cubs, and proved to get along quite well, she began to succumb to his charms. When she found out he cared for her, she tried to resist, turning it into a joke. But upon stumbling onto his camp just outside of her home one night, she ended up sharing a wonderful and passionate evening with him. Still, she didn't want to love him. Lovng means getting hurt, from her experience. Still, after some convincing from the empath who could sense her feelings, she gave in, and the two are now lovers.
