Licentia

Present Appearance

Age: Young. Due to a poor head for numbers, she has lost track of what her exact age might be. Her appearance would suggest that she is nearing her twenties, her mannerisms often imply a mental age of fewer numbers though.

Appearance: Her long hair approaches a shade close to a deep auburn, normally tied back save a few stray errant strands that have a habit of obscuring her olive-green eyes. She keeps it long to make up for her sparse fur. Her nose, ears, tail, and whiskers all support the fact that she is a feline, even if her blood might have gotten mixed somewhere up the line. She is rather small in size, having a build closer to that of a young boy than that of a woman.

Past

As a kitten, Licentia was not taken to kindly due to her red hair, and green eyes. The rest of her village was fair-haired, and had eyes of the sky. Her lack of fur did not help matters much. Fortunately, no one ever took this to be a product of her mother's infidelity. Unfortunately, it was the general sentiment of the village that this kitten was either a mixed-blood changeling, or a curse.

Before the age of being old enough to register all this, her father used to like to bring her along on his fishing trips. These happy times ended the day he found one of the rope ends on the moor dancing to the scattered notes young Licentia was singing. Rushing home, shutting all doors and windows, he told his wife what had taken place. Licentia's sister, however, was gifted at eavesdropping. Her parents told her not to tell a soul. So the whole village knew before the week was up. Being a trading village, rumors hitchhiked their way to other villages as well.

When Licentia was about 6 years old, nobles from another town came with a sizeable sack of coins. They developed her power, knack, or whatever one might choose to call it, till it was consistent and accurate. By her 7th Winter, she could sing songs to send the enemy's saddle straps to wrap round their throats, easily. The rich pigs who fed the fights soon found that it was extremely handy to have the child slip into the rooms of people whose existences they found inconveniant, and silence them with their own hair. The feuds did not end. It became a routine for this feline child to leave the village with the carriage, and come back a few week's later with a sack of coins.

Magic was not well regarded in her village, bloodshed even less so. Her family was not unaffected by these sentiments. Her parents stopped coming into her room to say good night. Her many siblings excluded her from their lives, afraid that whatever it was that made the adults avoid her might spread to them. Having to kill hundreds on a regular basis, for reasons no one would tell her was terrible enough for the kitten. The coldness she came home to only made things worse. To say that her mental state was fragile is inadequate. The one person who stayed by her, cared for, and loved her was her older brother.

This one support was removed as well. Licentia had fallen into the river, and her brother had gone in after her. In her panic, her mind had failed to recognize the hands that were trying to pull her out of the cold rapids. The sight of her brother, strangled to death by river weeds, killed by her song was the last straw. The child snapped. To cope with itself, to bear with herself enough to live on, Licentia seperated her person into two beings. The first was Licentia, her cheerful, grammatically hopeless self whose dear brother had been murdered by the one she called Rutilus. Rutilus was all that she could not accept about herself, including the killings, and the ability with which she had killed.

More Recent Activites

The Rutilus personality has been destroyed in during an extended RP with Deigon, who almost killed her, did enslave her, and was the person she almost married.

She was deeply attached to Khujein, son of Laurelle. However, her first love seems to have wandered off somewhere into Hollow when his mother left these lands.

Licentia no longer sings the sort of songs that makes ropes dance, but she has started on the flute thanks to Tundur. She engages in music out of a love for it, not out of a need to snuff out any lives.

Fastidiosus, a cynical mouse, was her first pet. He, however, started a family with the White Mouse, who lived on Laurelle's estate. He and his owner had been quite close. Though she has not seen him in a while, she hopes he is doing well.

Silex, the reticent rock, was her second pet. Subject to the initiation of heavy abuse as was customary for new pets in her book, he was seen to be quite heavily battered. The feline would argue that the abuse (namely kicking him along the road as they travelled) was simply a means by which she was aiding him to get from one point to the other.

Silex has been transformed into a female, shapeshifting rock called Cattarax. This transformation was brought about by Brandi. Cattarax is now quite able to move around on her own, and though she cannot transform into things beyond her size, she has been learning to change into forms that are much more mobile, and expressive than a hunk of rock. It would be good for one to note that this female rock is carnivorous.
