Some backstory.
Standing at the short height of four foot and two inches, it is easy to see upon first glance that Layla is only a child. Though she is really somewhere in her early to mid twenties at this point (after years living in Hollow), she appears as only ten. And truly believes herself to still be a child, with no real concept of time that has passed. Layla is the product of a doppelganger union with a feline, and though she has no clue of her origins, this plays a large part in her seemingly forever-age. This may play a part, as well, into why it is so difficult for her to grasp the concept of time. As doppelgangers are more of a mythological creature of unknown mortality, it is possible that time is simply not the same for them.
Layla used to have skin that hinted at her time spent outside. She has spent an unknown number of years living inside the Forest of Abyssal Darkness though, so now her tone is rather pale. Her once lustrous black curls are now dusty, tangled, and usually tied off someway or another to prevent them from snagging on thorny things or spider webs.
After the appearance of the Chaos Blooms, Layla had spent a good deal of time searching for the 'pretty stones' one might find around them. After so much time hoarding the flowers for shops eager to buy them, Layla is one of those affected by the exposure that none had been able to predict. The deep green of her irises now move about, dancing like real flames. Already with a penchant for mischief and small chaos, no doubt from her doppel-parent, the child fell further towards the fringes of... evil or chaos?
Aside from her kitten ears and tail, the child looks otherwise human. Whether this is some unknown, self-imposed imagery her mind has stuck her into or is her natural form is hard to tell. Given her lack of knowledge to her heritage, the child is completely unable to control any aspect of shape-shifting at this point in time. And even if she were to somehow figure it out, there's a high chance that her skills would be muted or difficult to handle given her half-breed status.
Distinguishing marks and quirks:
A lite amount of freckles, spreading across the tops of her cheeks and nose.
A thin scar, running vertically from her right eyebrow to her right cheekbone.
Terribly afraid of dragons.
String of any kind, and feathers, are her down fall.
Old Connections.
Layla used to have an adopted family of sorts. Rien stepped in as the first father figure and was eventually followed by Daermon. Eyren became a sister, Razeal and Deis brothers. And through some form of marriage of one of these adopted members, a grandfather in Isen.
Keir had left a great inheritance to Layla, to which she once funded a clan called Black Lotus at the request of Brandi. Though while she had been lost in the forest behind the castle of Vailkrin, it would appear that the clan fell apart and scattered to the winds.
New connections.
Only one singular person has been encountered in the forest in more recent days, and the reunion was less than ideal for the child. Realizing that her old acquaintance was not only transformed in ways she did not understand, but that she was also forgotten, the child has taken to an anger that she can't quite explain. Her new goal seems to revolve around the concept of accomplishing feats so great that no one can ever forget her again. Probably a complex of being an orphan of sorts, with so many 'family' members that have always disappeared.
An OOC Note: August 2022 update: Layla was a character that I created somewhere between 2003 and 2009. Until I can uncover some old RPs I have saved somewhere on a defunct external hard drive, I can't really remember when she truly started. She was originally an alt created for the express purpose of providing a child character for some old (and gone?) players to interact with. However, those players are either no longer playing or the characters have expired. I couldn't really tell you.
There are a few older names I recognize that Layla has RPed with, and while I don't expect most of them to remember her, but those that do should be aware that she appears every bit the ten year old now that she did back then. While there is a reason behind this related to her custom class, Layla is very unaware that it is happening at all. There is plenty of open room for RP around this, should any older character recognize her and notice that she hasn't aged at all in the years that she's been missing. But given that Hollow has gone through a lot, it also stands to reason that there might not be anyone who recognizes this oddity.
Except for that pesky Kasyr who doesn't seem to remember her by face. Everyone can thank him for the turmoil she's going to attempt in Vailkrin as she has a tantrum over his forgetting her. >:)
