Description

While not being overly tall, she is rather thin, giving at first impression a tall appearance. Her skin is deathly pale, but not clammy or gaunt, instead appearing very smooth and light. Her hair is roughly cut, reaching down to her shoulders with a long fringe often brushed to one side. It is a light Blonde in colour, somehow complimenting her skin tone quite warmly.

Kimberlyn's facial features tell a different story. Her eyes are deep and almost soulless, the product of being witness to Death almost daily, for three years. While they are blue in colour, it is a pale blue at best, though should you catch her attention they will look at you with the full force of a Vampire's analytical, depersonifying gaze. Her eyes seem to be nestled in some heavy bags, many sleepless nights contributing to both her complexion and her habit to snooze wherever she pleases.

Although she does not care much for law, one way of the other, she respects others' determination to uphold it and so is careful to toe the line with regards to crime. However, if you were to ask her about her aim in life, she would most certainly tell you that while it is welcome to assist, no law or order will ever prevent her from achieving her goal.

Her hands are the hands of a magic user; hardly worn and unused to any great labor, having always used magical means to achieve heavy lifting and other such tasks. The same can be said of most of her body; unaffected by the rigours of martial training or physical exortion.

As for clothing, whatever she wears tends to compliment her in a slight, mildly attractive way. Usually, though, Kimberlyn does not care much for appearance, knowing that experience and agenda is what really counts, and so it is not uncommon to see her in extremely plain and practical garments.

While she does not place much faith in physical weaponry, Kimberlyn will most often be seen carrying a knife, dagger or one handed sword. Loathe to use such tools, they will be for show more than anything else. The only weapons she will in fact use are those that amplify her magical power, allowing her to cast Necromancer spells and the like.

History

Kimberlyn displayed great magical potential as a child, and in a backwater village like the one she grew up in such talents were highly valued by all tiers of society. She was pushed from a very early age into developing these powers, as her latent abilities were raw and unshaped. If she so chose, she could turn to any of the various walks of life available to a magic user.

Unfortunately, this was not to be. The choice would not be made by her, nor anyone she knew.

A shadow had been following Kimberlyn, all her life. A Vampire, who had recognised her talent far before any of the humans in the village could. On the night she disappeared, stolen away by this Vampire, the village was burned to the ground, every single villager bled dry and left littered among the ashes of a once vibrant community.

Upon reaching his underground residence, the Vampire proceeded to Sire Kimberlyn there and then, knowing that although she would not retain a great deal of her power, what little was left would be his to mold into the perfect tool to further his own agenda. As her Sire, he had complete control over Kimberlyn, and she soon learned that to fight it was pointless. She became docile and silent, and once he saw that her will was broken, her training began.

The Vampire taught Kimberlyn the arts of necromancy. Time and again she was commanded to perform unspeakable acts against her once fellow humans, and she soon became numb to the feelings of guilt and sadness that would overwise consume her with grief. She was forced to commit murder, to exhume corpses for use in evil ceremonies, to feed in the dark from unwary victims, all the while knowing that to defy her Sire was to invite punishment in the form of even more heinous tasks. She became feared by the locals in her own right, often being forced to kill to protect herself at the command of her Sire.

Three years doing this would break the minds of most men, who would become drunk with power and bloodlust or grief-stricken with regret. That Kimberlyn was able to push aside her feelings and survive mentally intact for so long is a testament to the strong will that she once posessed. All she could do was continue to obey her master, to continue to learn necromancy. She eventually stopped hoping even for rescue.

On the third anniversary of her Siring, as a test of her abilities and 'loyalty', Kimberlyn was sent to kill and deliver a the corpses of a group of nomads who had set up in the area. It was a day's ride to their camp, and without hesitation she set out on her mission. Upon returning, she found her Sire dead, the victim of a Vampire Hunter, his head removed and a stake in his heart. It took a moment or two for her to realise that she had been inadvertently freed from a lifetime of slavery to a Vampire, and when it dawned on her she didn't show it.

Instead, she set off immediately on her own, surviving as she had been taught, feeding discretely, and staying out of trouble. She fell out of practise with Necromancy, but found that after her 'training' she could not learn any other discipline of magic with any degree of skill. Arriving in Kelay, a place where none had heard her name, and none had heard her reputation, Kimberlyn wished for a fresh start. She would not pursue the power of Necromancy for the furthering of evil, but instead for her own aim: to hunt and kill those dedicated to furthering plans of Evil design, Live and Undead alike.
