Who is Gevurah?

Gevurah is a 53 year old drow of Trist’oth and the first daughter to Keter D’Artes, the former patron of House D’Artes. She has dedicated her life to worshipping Vakmatharas, the God of Death. In return for her service, Vakmatharas grants the young drow magical gifts with which she sates his thirst for death. Although she is primarily a magic caster, the noble has a fetish for close-hand combat. She likes to inflict pain up close and visceral. She is a traditionalist, in the sense that hierarchy and power are of utmost importance to Gevurah. With regard to the other noble houses of Trist’oth, the primary purpose they serve is to create a class beneath her heel; secondary purpose, scheming. Any house sitting on less than 3 stalagmites has to cause a ripple throughout Trist’oth for the noble to distinguish them from the mass of nobodies.

Not well known is that fact that although her father fought hard to usurp the drow matriarchy, the first daughter resists the idea that a patriarchy is best for Trist’oth. On the other hand, she rejects the matriarchy as well. She believes every drow is in it for themselves, regardless of gender, and those nobles who favor either gender leave themselves vulnerable to an uprising from strong members of the oppressed group. Of course, she keeps this opinion to herself, and hypocritically employs the current patriarchal dogma to oppress others as it benefits her. Liberating drow ideologies are never social in spirit.

Gevurah Today

Up until recently, those who lived and worked within the impressive D’Artes estate would have described Gevurah as reclusive. During her upbringing, she was never very social, particularly not after her father’s suicide. In her forties, she withdrew even further and worshipped Vakmatharas in secret, rarely paying public homage to her god at the temple. But over the course of the second Drow-Elf war on the surface, Gevurah became a more visible political player in drow society, particularly when it came to House D'Artes interests on the surface. Though the drow lost their territory in Southern Sage while Gevurah was at the helm, she has been successful in shifting blame to the traitor and former matron Laezila. She also claims a smaller victory domestically thanks to her success in squashing Laezila's three-day rebellion in Trist'oth, and thus maintaining the political status quo within the drow city -- and most importantly, her House's claim to the highest seat of power.

Since the war, Patron Tiphareth has focused on magely things of such arcane complexity your brain would melt if you tried to comprehend it, and thus he isn't around, which makes First Daughter Gevurah D'Artes the de facto political power in Trist'oth. She focuses on rebuilding the decimated drow army, has become a more visible priestess of Vakmatharas, and continues to settle scores left over from the war.

The surface is not far from her mind, and the noble has begun scouting potential locations on the surface for future drow war camps. Already she's claimed space in Cenril, and drow dig a tunnel east to connect both civilizations. She also has plans for Larket.

Special Items

  • A shattered E'et-Nilah blade pilfered after a battle involving Patron Kuzial and Xersom.

A little poisonous spike stabs out of the base of the handle at the click of a button. The flailing end of the whip is formed by seven vipers which were enchanted by Daath himself. Each viper has its own coloring: deep green, black, silver, blood red, plum wine, bronze, and midnight blue.
