Description

Ember is young by elven standards, having just reached adolescence a year or two ago, and while over a century old she looks to be the equivalent of her early twenties. She keeps her hair tied back, often to keep it out of her eyes while fighting, though her bangs sometimes come loose. Favoring lighter armor to better utilize her races lightness on their feet, she's in excellent physical shape with well-toned muscles from the years of training to follow her path. Her elvish ears have a wide range of mobility, giving her a cat-like seeming, that is often enhanced by her green eyes that sometimes 'glow' as they reflect nearby light courtesy of her elven vision. Ember wears a symbol of Arkhen on a thin silver chain around her neck at all times, a sign of her faith. She smiles readily and laughs easily, her expression bright, though she's still a bit naive and when confronted with the harsher aspects of life she can grow melancholy.

Her armor is mostly composed of salvaged Preklek pieces that she's recovered from their scouts, arranged to allow more mobility at the expense of some protection, and she favors a finely crafted short spear as a weapon. Combined with her shield arm, Ember uses it to keep her enemies at a distance, not being so much of a 'bruiser' as a 'skirmisher'. She also has a boot dagger tucked away and a short sword in a scabbard at her hip, while she has also trained in unarmed fighting styles focusing primarily on speed and using an enemies momentum against them instead of brute force.

Background

As of now, Ember's background is rather unremarkable. She grew up in the elven villages within the Kelay-Sage area and for the most part led a charmed life as a child, both her parents being loving and dutiful, which truly gave her the foundation she needed later on to follow the Paladin's way. She was always an artistic child, favoring dancing and other musical hobbies, but the world would not let her remain sheltered forever. The elves of Kelay have had their share of troubles over the last century and Ember was exposed to many of them growing up. Rather than allow it to make her bitter, she resolved to try and make the situation better, and was always known as a bright if slightly compulsive young woman. Her parents had always hoped that she would follow the family tradition and become a bard but for Ember she wanted a more direct way to combat the evil she knew lurked out there. Admittedly, while musically capable, she was also no where near as talented as her siblings were either which also helped fuel her decision.

Reasoning that there were guardians needed as well as artists, to protect that which was created, Ember instead turned to spiritual matters. She found Arkhen's philosophies very much in line with her own and began her training to become a priest. That too, in the end, wasn't for her but her mentor suggested she take up the mantle of a Paladin instead. Ember agreed, putting her skills in dancing to use in sword play instead, her style more one of speed and precision than brute force.

Now, finally an adult, Ember is setting out to put her faith into practice for the first time. She doesn't know what she'll encounter out there, only that she'll do her best to be ready for it.

While surveying Hollow from above, she was attacked from behind by the vampiress Larawen (whose name she does not yet know), and fed upon. In turn, she damaged the creature with holy magic. Ember survived the encounter, largely because Larawen did not press the assault to the point of death, and spent several days in Craughmoyle recovering. The creature tried to shake her faith some but the young paladin remains strong. The pain/pleasure mix of the vampire's bite was note entirely unpleasant, however. The elfess finds herself suffering conflicting emotions about the creature, finding the bite something that could become an addiction.

Ember has traveled the Kelay-Sage area, as well as Craughmoyle and the Xalious Mountains, with her most recent foray being to Frostmaw. While there, she met Hildegarde at a mountain arena where she was practicing with a lycan named Bal. The two got on cordially, Ember expanding her knowledge of the area, and discovering that the knight was in fact a dragon. This marks the first time Ember had ever met a dragon to her knowledge as well as discovering that they could take a human form. She was fascinated, to say the least, and left to look forward to her next encounter with Hildegarde the Silver.

The young paladin recently met Gheneroc the Deep while on a mission to prevent his adoptive black whelps from attacking dwarven caravans in the Xalious Mountains. She survived her encounter by proposing that the dragon and dwarves work out a mutual pact to both their benefit; what fruit it will yield, if any, is yet to be seen.
