Aurore Soval was born within the nomadic tribe of the Ellerion, on the Storm Shores bordering the westernmost reaches of Miang. At a young age, she displayed the requisite prowess necessary to be chosen as a hunter, and so the Ellerions raised her with bow and spear. Thus was their way, the Old Way, to identify strengths and weaknesses from birth and cater one's upbringing to suit. Of weaknesses, Aurore was said to possess an overabundance of fierce independence, and a stubborn refusal to adhere to doctrine. It was not considered proper for her to crave knowledge of the lands beyond the Storm Shores, but thrice during adolescence she balked at Ellerion customs and scouted wildernesses beyond their ranging. On the second such occasion, she ran afoul of brigands and had to be rescued by her peers. On the third such occasion, she ran afoul of brigands yet again, but outwitted them on her own -- and was summarily exiled from her tribe.
