Accidental Teleportation

It was an early spring morning when Adrik and Alan came to offer their final farewells and goodbyes to their recently deceased mother and father. It was a simple and small ceremony in keeping with the Brisbane traditions of being laid to rest near the family farm. Alan felt relief that his elder brother would be the one to speak, as this type of thing was lost on him even though he is gifted with the ability to spin a tale, but he just was not the expressive one. Once the proceedings ended, the Brisbane brothers followed their parent's wishes by taking over the family farm and unfortunately the fifty-six and sixty-one year old had no family to help fill the home. Adrik always the warrior and too busy with wartime to settle down while Alan was always the bachelor with this popular written word throughout the villages he traveled and never met the right one.

Several weeks have passed and even though the brothers are quite opposite in personality types, the farm does fair, but no one was able to foretell what was about to take place. The happenings started out slow and small with their crops shrinking in size and for a straight week his brother was nowhere to be found in the night time; what's up with that? It's hard to get much of any reaction out of Alan, but he started to feel more and more irritable with this brother's mysterious and careless actions, there was starting to be a palpable tension between them. It wasn't much longer than this started, when Alan and Adrik were talking things over between a pint and they spot something odd in the distance. They were slow moving, deformed and human-looking until the beings got closer and the smell hit them; it- it was their parent's reanimated dead bodies.

Alan had no idea what to do, but Adrik has dealt with the unnatural undead on the battlefields, defending small towns from Necromancers, but the full moon was close and he didn't want to show Alan that part of him, ever, so he had to leave him to take care of their parents. As stated, Alan wasn't easily animated, but he found putting down his mother and father after already saying his goodbyes to them very vexing… He eventually mustered the courage to do it and when his brother came home early morning they shared their first fight before a group of city guards rode up to the farm looking for Adrik to procure his help in what was causing all of the peculiar things to happen throughout Erde.

"Commander Adrik!" The scout accompanied by the city guard hurried their message along to waste no time, "The kingdom needs you immediately, the Chrono Witch known as Sesha is in the midst of destroying us and our forces are dwindling. We know you are retired and we apologize profusely, but we need your…" The scout glances nervously at Alan with the clearing of his throat, "Uhm.. Your Expertise." The confusion on Alan's face was evident, but Adrik was expecting this entirely.

"I'll leave immediately." He goes to gather his things, but is stopped by the scout clearing his throat once more before excusing himself for there is more…

"I do apologize Commander Adrik… But we are reaching out to employ the efforts of any able bodied men…" The scout's focus turns his dire expression on Alan. "Brother Brisbane.…Will you help us?" At this point Alan looked surprised as he was just a simple man of the age of near retirement and this is not how he was planning on spending the rest of his days, Adrik starts to protest against this, but Alan stops him with a simple 'stop' with his hand.

"I will, just call me Alan." His expression fell to it's usual bored one and Adrik isn't sure how he should respond. Just as he found his words Alan cut him off, "But you and I are doing this together for once. As brothers." This causes a whole other world of problems and he finds it difficult to protest to such a rare sentiment from Alan just because of his own secrets and all he can do is nod.

The next morning everything they needed was imparted to them complete with armor, weapons, and armored aged steeds for their journey. They did think it was curious the Kingdom provided horses so advanced in age to accompany them and when they woke that morning they felt a little more valiant then before, but Alan just attributed it to nerves. Their early morning was quiet as the Brisbane's have always been lack of words and not particularly showing of emotion for each other, but Alan's concentration was muddled by Adrik, "Alan. I don’t know what we will be facing or the troubles that are at hand and I want you to kno-"

"I know." Was all Alan offered as he assumed his brother was going to tell him he loves him, but Adrik wonders if he would ever really get the courage to tell his brother he turns into a beast at night and cant control the urges and he's been ashamed ever since that’s why he's not been around much all of their lives. All Adrik was able to do was sigh.

"Are you ready then?" He didn't wait for an answer as he grabs the sack of provisions and walks out of their family home for the last time to mount the horse that was provided. Alan didn’t think on his brother's shift in attitude, he always seemed easy to anger anymore. He grabs the rest of the supplies to walk out and mount his own steed as they set off to the dawning horizons.

(The epic fights of this adventure to find the Chrono Witch, Sesha, are recorded in Alan's logs and would be too long to place here, but they were the tales of legends. So… Yeah. We catch up with our hero's about a month later where we meet a new Full moon creeping up and so far Adrik had been able to keep his secret from his younger brother, Alan.)

Storming their way to the Chrono Witch's lair was no easy task as they were fighting off and he noted Adrik was getting a bit… Antsy? He just focused on the task at hand and how easier it was to fight as they concluded that whatever the Chrono Witch was doing was making them younger. So, the fifty-six Alan was more of a thirty year old in body, but not in his mind and soul. "Do you feel it? We must be close!" He said to his brother who hasn't been responsive the past couple days as he just looks… Angry. He wouldn't trifle with such menial matters now as the air seemed to become electric and thicker somehow. The next room they came upon had quite the anticipated scene of the Chrono Witch who was once an ugly hag turned beautiful young woman and they only sign they knew it was her was the crest tattooed on her hand.

There was a brilliant flashing of lights from her hands as she started throwing all the magic she could at the brothers while the orb of Rahule was at work on the pedestal in the center of her arcane chamber. Almost as if in tandem the pair split off, Alan for the orb and Adrik for the witch as he lost control of his temperament and turned, becoming the beast of the night, a Lycan. Alan hadn't noticed and only took account the room seemed darker and smaller in a way "Adrik! I've got it!" His hands finally reach the orb, as it was like walking underwater, without even knowing what it was doing when his gaze set on the beast just as their fight was brought to an end with the Chrono Witch's life and that beast was now coming for Alan.

Alan quickly dropped the orb readying himself to fight back and the relic fell to the floor with a silent crash as if it were just a vacant ball made out of impossibly thin ice. Just when that happened everything stopped, all of the Witch's minions and henchmen seem to evaporate from existence while Adrik and Alan are pulled out of reality, morphed together, then mutilated and then teleported far from their homeland of Erde to The Land of Hollow. Of course neither of them know what happened and Adrik will only ever be in Lycan form as Alan is believed his brother died while he is left alone to figure out where he is…
