General Description

Looks Like

Like all centaurs, Agatol appears as a human torso fused with a horses body.

With his horse portion being comaprable to a clydesdale; he is an imposing creature. This portion of his form is covered with a roan colored hair; the auburnish red giving way to tufts of white near his massive hooves. Those powerful hooves are near the size of dinner plates.

From his withers grows his human portion; a strong, well muscled man with broad shoulders and chisled features. His skin is a deep tan; and his eyes a green that can vary depending on the light. Ranging from a dark forest green to a soft mossy green; his gaze can show great intensity. His hair and tail are silky straight black. The hair falls to about his human shoulder blades; and his tail to his equine ankles.

Acts Like

Overall Agatol is a good fellow. He wishes to see the right thing done; and he will stand up for the weak against the wicked.

That said; he has his faults. He tends to favor the less humanoid races of Hollow; with humans as his absolute least favorite sort. Elves are given a pass, because they are among the oldest races; and are general seen as respectful (if arrogant). He views humans as beings who think too highly of themselves and who have too little respect the dignity of those around them too little.; a view born of a handful of bad encounters.

As with many of his kind; Agatol can be a cautious sort. He will not tell you specifically the name of his tribe of where they are located...just that he comes from the west. This is for the protection of his people. Despite this caution; he isn't shy.

His height and strength are sources of pride; as is the fact that few can draw his bow.

Where He's From

Homeland and Tribe

Though the most he will usually speak on the matter is to say that he has come "From the West"; most will surmise that this means Agatol hails from Venturil, and that that is where his tribe is located as well. This guess is not necessarily wrong.

Among his tribe; Agatol is a very important member; as he is the son of the tribe heads.

The tribe keeps it's sheltering areas a strict secret to provide safety for its members; particularly the young. They are a semi-nomadic tribe; though; traveling through the area as resources change; but always taking care to keep their main shelter area well hidden.

A large portion of their numbers are druids and rangers. This helps them maintain the balance of the areas they travel through; as well as keeps them safe and allows them to hunt successfully.

History

It was approximately 190 years ago that Diomanes and Agameos saw their first child born into the world. Diomane had just stepped up to fill her own parents' hoof prints as a ruler of their tribe. Knowing this first son was destined to one day take a place as tribe ruler; and that he was destined for a future in which he would stand to defend the tribe against a great darkness; Agameos gazed to the heavens and proclaimed the name of their son to the stars: Agatol.

Now, in this particular tribe it was custom that the first child of the tribe ruler, in preperation for furture duties as leader; go out on their own (beyond the mountains to the east) upon reaching a certain age. The purpose of this journey was that the heir might learn more of the ways of the world beyond their small tribe; and might find their own guidance from the stars.

Being around 190 years of age; this was Agatol's time of journey. He left his people; and traveled the rough terrain through the Xalious range into his year long exile. It was not forbidden to interact with those beyond the mountains. In fact; there was some hope that he might find a worthy female centaur to rule the tribe during his trial.

But he was not to come home until he had spent the required time away; unless summoned by his parents for reasons of urgency. If he returned for any other circumstance; he would not be fit to rule as heir; and the his younger sister would undergo the trial next to test her worth.

Little could Agatol know how difficult this task would prove...

  • Upon reaching Kelay Village, Agatol encountered a feline named Zahrani who gave him troubling news: Venturil was in danger.
  • To return, contact his tribe, even just to inquire about their welfare, is a violation of The Journey's rules. To return without summons is failure.
