Undead Basilisk Blade

Thus, the terms of ownership for this item are different than from a custom item made for a particular player. There are two types of admin-sponsored arc items, and this is Type A. Undead Basilisk Blade - (Weapon-Magic/Melee)

Description:

The basilisk blade is an amalgamation of bones, ossified muscles and sinew, tendons, basilisk scales and teeth, and necromantic energies from a basilisk and a sacrificial elf. Its form is that of an elven backbone, 28 inches in length, making it more closely resemble a scimitar than broadsword. Basilisk scales, teeth, and jagged pieces line the sharp inner angle of the blade, making it as efficient as a cutting blade as it is for piercing. Much like the creature from which most of its power is drawn, the basilisk blade oozes a poisonous substance onto anything it touches. The substance will not burn through armor or fabric, but it is particularly effective at soaking into skin. If it gets into an open wound, poisoning is almost assured.

RP note: poisoning will only happen with consent from the other party. It is always welcomed, though!

The infection is a particularly nasty necromantic virus that presents much like leprosy. Those who are infected would find digits, limbs, appendages, and etc. slowly becoming undead with the end result being they sufferer would succumb to undeath completely. There is no way to cure this infection by any known means, though it has been suggested that destroying the blade will cure all of its victims.

RP note: it will be up to the infected player to determine what part becomes undead, the time it takes, and etc. There is no set time for all of this to happen, so no characters will die unless the player wants them to die.

History:

Little is known about this blade as it is used sparingly if at all. Who made it, how it was made, or why it was made is not OOC knowledge. The main part of the basilisk blade, the basilisk itself, was acquired duplicitously by tricking mage Aiden into summoning and killing the creature to aid a child elf cure her ailing grandfather. Once the basilisk was dead, Trajek threw off his disguise, killed the elf child, and thanked Aiden before making his escape with the prize.

The basilisk corpse was taken to Larewen who helped the ghoul forge the blade out of a sacrificial elf. It was a cementing of good relations between Larewen and the Shade, but this is also not OOCly known.
