Senatorial Candidate Brennia Smyth has been openly attacked in public. An eyewitness submitted a statement to the guard that the assailants bore the odd wing tattoo with the eye in the middle on the back of their hands. This tattoo has been sighted recently in the city and has been linked to other crimes. Witnesses say one attacker threw shurikens at candidate Smyth, but her bodyguard saved her life. In an unexpected twist, it was revealed that her bodyguard is a vampire. Given the animosity between vampires and avians, onlookers were moved to see that the bodyguard, who almost perished in the fight, was later rescued by the brave campaign manager Corvo.Candidate Draft has not been seen since and is not available for comment. The Vindicator’s poll, taken after the debate reveals that Ms. Smythe is swaying even more voters.

Run for the Raan
Two candidates have thrown their hats into the ring and this campaign has been quite the interesting one with Vermillion Draft accusing his opponent of using college funds to aid her own campaign. Mr. Draft has also been accused of drudging up her rumors from her past. Mr. Draft has also spread the rumor that Ms. Brennia Smythe isn’t from Schezerade, is romantically involved with a vampire, who is only the latest in a long string of lovers. Vermillion was rising in the polls and continues to do so, but not at the rate he was before. People are wondering where his wife is and one account overheard a rather nasty conversation between him and his preteen daughter.

Anyone in need of tools or devices that will make everyday life easier? Stop by Master Artificer Wisax Wewiframe’s Workshop along the Pathway of Knowledge. His collection includes that which they use at the bard college - the Crystalline Recorder and Echo Sapientia’s.
Looking for that perfect gift for a little one? Look no further than local popular children’s book author C. Virellio, a student at the Smyth College of Bardic Arts. You could get a custom made book for your child, niece, nephew or cousin twice removed. Contact College Counselor Dewfoot-Barrows and within two weeks you should have your own children’s book for that special child in your life.
Cloud Community
Another luxury location has opened up at the Draft Hotel where you can reserve a table at the very opulent Mauvaise-repas, but you better do so quickly because the waiting list is a month long. Mauvaise-repas will be holding a specially crafted winter solstice feast with entertainment brought in from outside Schezerade. Come enjoy some sophisticated entertainment and food. The Bard’s College is also hosting a winter solstice play and feast and, judging by the wine menu, debauchery. Parental discretion is advised.
Blitzball
This season has been neck and neck between the Cardinals and the Aerocrows. It looks like it will be those two champion teams going head to head at the Super Series. Tickets for the main event go on sale in a week and the Super Series will be held on February 6th.

Tourist Nuisance
A recent uptick in tourists, many attracted by Lady Brennia Smyth’s new bardic college, has disgruntled many residents who say that tourists crowd events at the Glorious Arena and Grand Amphitheatre. Local government officials have passed a law that allows for price discrimination between residents and visitors. In response, the arena and Amphitheatre will not charge tourists double for the price of entry. The University of Schezerade will also start charging foreigners tuition, a move which university board member (and owner of the Vindicator) Vermillion Draft says came after much hand-wringing and deliberation. Furthermore, the government has expanded its budget for marking streets with signs and addresses to help tourists who are accustomed to such signage on the surface.

Skinny Dippers in Fountain of Wishes Rock Community
The influx of bardic students has spoiled the tranquil order of our beloved town, but no bedrock of tradition has been more spoiled than the fountain of wishes. The fountain will be closed for maintenance and cleaning following an unfortunate incident in which skinny dippers fouled the once pristine water.
Uptick in Crime Accompanies Uptick in Tourism
Merchants at the bazaar are advised to securely lock up their stands from here on out following a series of reported pickpocketing and petty thefts. Guards say the thieves tend to be non-avians, though they stop short of blaming the bard’s college, stating instead that perhaps thieves from the ground are pretending to be bards to walk amongst shoppers and merchants without raising alarm.
Blitzball
The Aerocrows lead this season 4 to 1, but they still need to face the Scarlet Tornados after their recent victory against the Talon Tempests. Although the season didn’t start out well for the Cardinals, it could turn around in the next match with the Claw Hawks. Their new soaring back, Hinder Windgate, seems to be a promising up and comer from our own home town. This reporter will be cheering the lad on in their next match this Friday! See you there!
