The Rage Stone - (Armor (gem))

Description:

A blood red gem that glows and constantly emits an aura that causes feelings of intense rage in both beasts and men within range of the stone. While some have shown themselves to be naturally resistant to the item's ambient effects, direct contact with the stone or items channeling its power makes the effect extremely potent and will almost always throw those affected into a blind fury.

With time and prolonged exposure it is possible to wield The Rage Stone. The only known example of this is Macon, who appears to have built up a slight immunity to the stone's effects and, while in possession of it, seems to be able to direct the anger of those affected as he sees fit.

History:

The origins of the stone are as of yet unknown. Its first known appearance in Lithrydel was in the possession of Macon Jauzon who claims to have discovered it beneath Larket in the Fermin City. The Death Knight believes it to be a piece of Vakmatharas's will, or of The God of Death himself. Some credence is lent to this theory there is no record of Macon being a follower of Vakmatharas prior to finding the stone.

Macon commissioned the forging of a great axe and armor with sockets in the axe head and gauntlets to house the artifact and channel its power.

The Rage Stone has been secretly used by Macon to incite riots and control the citizens of Larket, eventually leading to his coronation as King there, with the stone as his crown jewel. The crown and gem have been stolen by agents of Frostmaw (shh, it Emrith seeking to expose the existence of the item. The gem is now in the possession of Hildegarde, Queen of Frostmaw.
